Styling Products -DevaCurl - Angell

i finally found something i liked better than my beloved bumble and bumble styling creme and curl conscious creme. i think that how effective this product will perform is all in the application. i got a great devacurl hair cut at madusalon in san francisco, and the stylist there, theresa wondra helped me with a regimen that really works. the key is to put this in your hair while it is soaking wet, so i actually leave this in the shower and apply it to my wet hair after the devacurl low poo and conditioner. i then spritz with set it free and i have great wavy/curly hair for days. give it a try! it's pretty natural too, so it wins over bumble and bumble in that category as well. it could be more natural, but is already a little more natural than most :)

Moisturizers -Jurlique - Clarifying Day Care Lotion
word2bird 9/12/2010 4:49:00 AM
the only moisturizer that has really worked well with me and improved me adult acne. the price is steep, but it works so i'll continue to buy this. for reference, i've used half the bottle and can see tremendous improvement in my skin. i break out a lot less and my face is overall smoother. i would recommend applying this right after you wash your face and it is still damp/wet. applying this when you face is completely dry is a mistake!

Conditioner -John Masters - Citrus & Neroli Detangler
word2bird 7/13/2010 5:25:00 PM
just used this for the first time today and received complements from a couple coworkers. i have long, thick, wavy/curly, filipino hair and i used this as a leave-in conditioner/styling creme. i have been wanting to switch to an all natural regimen and this can replace my bumble & bumble styling creme, which costs more anyway. great find!!!

Moisturizers -Bliss Labs - Triple Oxygen + C Energizing Cream
word2bird 3/6/2010 6:14:00 PM
this is the most expensive moisturizer i have ever purchased, at $54 for a 1.7 oz tub. i have to say that i am really liking it so far...it's very lightweight and absorbs quickly. i was drawn to the gel-cream texture while at a local sephora. also, it's formulated without many of the chemicals in other creams. if you have oily/combination skin, i would give this a try. it probably isn't moisturizing enough for dry skin types. ingredients: Water (Aqua), Butylene Glycol, C12-13 Alkyl Lactate, Glycerin, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Squalane, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Sodium Hydroxide, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Salicornia Herbacea Extract, Disodium EDTA, Ethylbisiminomethylguaiacol Manganese Chloride, Sodium PCA, Xanthan Gum, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Sorbic Acid, Sodium Benzotriazolyl Butylphenol Sulfonate, Tributyl Citrate, Buteth-3, Fragrance (Parfum), Perfluorohexane, Citral, Perfluoroperhydrophenanthrene, Perfluorodecalin, Limonene, Perfluorodimethylcyclohexane, Retinyl Palmitate, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Linalool, Yellow 6 (CI 15985), Red 33 (CI 17200)

Cleansers -Boscia - Clear Complexion Cleanser with Botanical Blast
word2bird 1/24/2010 5:57:00 PM
this cleanser is working well, but just as everyone has mentioned, i have been breaking out more than usual on my chin. it might just be my skin purging. if this doesn't clear up by the time i finish the bottle, i won't re-purchase, but if it does, then i will. if you're willing to risk the purging process, i would give it a try. i have to say that my skin does take some time to get aqainted to a change in cleanser or face product. update: 3/5/10- i have been using this for about 2 months now and am very happy with the results. it has helped tremendously with my oily, acne-prone skin. i plan to repurchase.

Polishes -Chanel - le vernis nail color # 485 DJANGO
word2bird 11/7/2009 2:00:00 AM
i really like this nail polish. i think it works best for those with warm skin tones. it's like a peachy/light gold color. it applies a little streaky, but dries smooth.

Deodorants -Donna Karan - Cashmere Mist Deodorant
word2bird 8/22/2009 1:40:00 AM
this deodorant works pretty well. i originally purchase the la vanilla deodorant since it's natural, but it just didn't work. when visiting sephora, i was told by the sales lady that although this particular deodorant has aluminum, it uses advanced technology to wrap the aluminum particles with a molecule so that it does not get absorbed into your system...causing cancer and other side effects. update: 3/6/10 i think i was lied to as i can almost feel the aluminum penetrating. it takes forever to get this deodorant off my pits...nasty. i now use a natural mineral salt (crystal) spray. it's pretty effective with the odor, though it doesn't keep my dry... i'm not so sure this is true, but i don't and wouldn't use this on a daily basis. i use the natural crystal mineral salt deodorant spray daily as it is the only natural deodorant that keeps my funk to a minimum... i would only use this for those extra sweaty days.

Scrubs -Clinique - Exfoliating Scrub
word2bird 8/22/2009 1:34:00 AM
this along with the body scrub are my favorite skincare clinique products. this scrub is amazing and well worth it. i brought my tube over to my sister's and ended up leaving it at her place since she liked it so much. it was almost gone anyway, and i'm gonna buy her and probably me a new tube tomorrow. the menthol isn't very irritating. i would say i have sensitive skin and this works well.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Styling Creme
word2bird 6/10/2009 11:10:00 PM
i have been a bumble & bumble junkie for about 5 years now. ever since i graduated from college and could somewhat afford this stuff, i've been using it. i have dark, thick, coarse, wavy/curly that is pretty long. because my hair is quite heavy, the roots tend to get weighed down easily. this product and ghd fat hair lotion work miracles on my hair. one might think, she already has thick wavy hair, why would she want more volume. well, there's nothing worse than hair that is bottom heavy and flat on top. anyway, i actually like this better than the ghd fat hair lotion, but the ghd stuff comes in at second and is a bit cheaper, so i will alternate. as most b&b devotees know, their products are meant to be layered and used with other products depending on the results you want. i don't use this styling creme alone. i usually start with a silicone based product such as defrizz, fredric fekkai gloss, or even frizz ease, then i add this styling creme, then finish it off with the curl conscious creme. this has a matte feel to it which can be a little strange, but it really adds volume. this is a must have for me and i've been using it for over 3-5 years.

Blush -The Body Shop - Cheek Colour - 04 Golden Pink
word2bird 3/17/2009 11:36:00 AM
i have had this for at least a year and use it everytime i wear blush. i'm not really a makeup type of person, but love the natural glow and shimmer this provides. i recently bought MAC studio fix and I'm a C4. i have warmer/yellow undertones, so peach blushes work best for me. i've never tried nars orgasm but suspected it was similar to this one when i've seen it at sephora. i think i'll try that when i run out of this, but i feel like i've have this one for at least a year or two and i still have tons let to go... if you're looking for a peach/shimmery blush and have warm undertones, try this!

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Rain
word2bird 1/28/2009 10:10:00 PM
i love this fragrance. i bought this for about $40 on amazon along with the cucumber. I like rain better, but use the cucumber on and off as well. my co-workers loved rain so much that i poured some in an atomizer and gave it to them just because. this is pretty well priced since it's a 10oz bottle.

Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Eyelash Curler
word2bird 11/8/2008 10:00:00 PM
my mom let me have hers and i've been using it for years, probably about 4 years or so now. from that experience and trying many others, i realized that not all eyelash curlers are created equally. this one is the best and it really makes a difference. although it is expensive, it is totally worth it. i needed to replace the rubber pads, but sephora didn't sell them and the sales lady said that it is recommended that you buy a new one after using up the two rubber pads they come with since the mechanics of the actual eyelash curler is no longer as good and may be mis-aligned. i'm not so sure how true this is, but they had a 24K gold limited edition one for the holidays, so like a sucker, i took the plunge and shelled out the $24, reconciling it in my mind by admitting that i do use this item daily.

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Hair Shine
word2bird 11/3/2008 11:18:00 AM
my mom let me have this now that she has found her signature fragrance- kate spade. i use this as both hair shine and perfume, dabbing some on my wrists and then my neck. i like this scent a lot and use it often. this is making me want to purchase the actual parfum. works well with my body chemistry and i am hoping that the parfum will too... i would repurchase the hair shine for sure, although this has since been discontinued and can only be found online.

Stick -Bobbi Brown - Foundation Stick
word2bird 6/7/2007 3:28:00 PM
I'm surprised this product has such negative reviews. This was actually my mom's and I ended up taking it from her since she never used it. I mainly use it as an under eye concealer and has grown to be an HG product for me. The color is such a great match and I agree with a slight oilyness to the product, but for under eye concealing, it works like a charm. Try it for that...
I didn't realize that these cost $38 since I took mine from my Mom's. I've had it for about 3 years now so it is surely worth it. I may just bring mine to the dept. store to see if I can find a cheaper match. Otherwise, the color is pretty dead on and application is a breze so I should probably just stick with this.
