Eye Makeup Remover -Make Up For Ever - Sens Eyes
silvercatt 7/28/2007 9:41:00 PM
This stuff is amazing. Takes off EVERYTHING with just a drop. It's like the DAWN of makeup removers. haha I love it and it doesn't burn or iritate my eyes, and I'm a contact ens wearer. Its quite expensive, but lasts for ever. I've had my Trial Size for a year and I'm only now unning out. I think it's worth the money, though I'd love to find something less expensive that compares to this.

Lips -Labello - Labello UV Care - SPF 30
silvercatt 11/17/2006 6:43:00 PM
UGH. This lip-balm is terrible:
tastes disgusting, makes your lips dry, white and flakey.
It is However, amazing as a sunscreen, which is precisely what I use it for. Because of the great protection it provides this balm is superb to use as a sunscreen stick...ESPECIALLY around the eyes! the white filmy residue makes my dark cicles appear lighter and it's moisturizing. :P So I found a use for it yet.
I bought this on sale for either 50 or 99 cents, so I can't really complain, but now I know WHY it was on sale and won't repurchase.
So far, the only good SPF lip-balm I have found has been Eco-Lips organic SPF 30 lip-balm. It even smelled nice.

Lip Treatments -Labello - HydroCare Lip Balm
silvercatt 11/17/2006 6:36:00 PM
I LOVE this stuff for the winter. HydroCare has the perfect amount of moisturizing and softening power without leaving too much of a shine or just sticking around on the surface of your lips. Doesn't leave any kind of white film and the odour is not overpowering at all. Packaging is nice: light and sturdy enough, with a 'click' to know it's closed.
I bought this half off at Shoppers- will repurchase, though only on sale: they're a bit pricey.

Powder -Alima - Satin Matte Mineral Foundation
silvercatt 10/8/2006 2:01:00 PM
I am so pleasantly shocked.
This is definitely, without a doubt my HG foundation- liquid, cream, powder...Whatever!
I love everything about Alima's foundation. I ordered several samples of the foundation and illuminating shimmer, and find that both Damask and Sesame work really well on my Super Pale skin. I have dry, very sensitive skin with redness around the cheeks and nose, bad undereye circles and some mild discolouration. At first I didn't think this makeup would cover anything, but I was soon proven wrong. You don't think anything is happening until the very end because it blends in so well-- you don't realize it's on at all. The trick is to layer it with several light applications until you find the right coverage.
It doesn't cover my undereye circles, but does brighten and makes them less noticeable.
I've tried TONS of different foundations; liquids irritated my skin and didn't last long enough, MineralMU didn't cover enough and/or dried out my skin and accentuated dry spots. This does not dry out my skin(as long as I moisturize first) and I never need to re-apply.
To me, personally, this even beats Makeup Forever's Body&Face foundation- at half the price. That is not to say MUFE's liquid is bad, but I prefer this.
I'm going to order a full size after I finish B&F Liquid.
And yes, their customer service is outstanding, unlike with Corey cosmetics, I didn't need to wait a month for my samples; I got them in 3 business days in Canada plus extra samples. <3

Sunscreen -L'Oreal - Ombrelle-SPF60 cream
silvercatt 9/28/2006 7:57:00 AM
This is the only sunscreen I trust with my skin in the summer. I completely agree that it feels disgusting (especially in the summer) and leaves a white cast, and is runny but that's a small price to pay. At first I just found it "moisturizing" but after a while, the whole " I can't touch my face/clothes/arms/anything around me etc." thing becomame kind of annoying. I spent the summer with white pearlized stains on my clothes. On the bright side, I didn't get burned once-first summer ever- while wearing this. it did NOT break me out and the white cast complemented my natural skin tone. IMHO it's better than La Roche Posay and the texture is not that different. Worth $15, though I do wish it was less tacky and sticky. I'm going to try their sensitive skin SPF 30 and kids SPF 45 versions to compare, but for now: HG sunsreen.

Mascara -Avon - Daring Curves Mascara
silvercatt 9/15/2006 9:48:00 PM
I believe I bought this for $4 CAD:insane. My lashes are already long so this really does look INSANE. I love that it does keep my lashes curled and doesn't flake. It's a true black and the brush is amazing. Everything is perfect except that it smudges so I have to be very careful about my eye area or I look like a racoon. I don't want to switch though, because it seems to be the best.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
silvercatt 9/15/2006 9:25:00 PM
This is my HG cleanser: never EVER breaks me out, calms my PPP, sensitive skin (I know, I'm shocked), takes off all makeup without irritating or stripping my skin of whatever little oil it has and there's lots of it. The one problem I encountered was that the pump broke. I just tranferred it to an old Neutragena foaming cleanser bottle and all was well. One pump does the trick, so it's pretty long lasting. I just make sure to wash off all possible residue with cool water and my skin looks great. Def. will repurchase.

Lip Gloss -Juice Beauty - Lip Trio SPF 15
silvercatt 9/2/2006 10:38:00 PM
I was hoping to like this, however, I find that the balms are too dying and not moisturizing at all. they are hard to apply and the colour is somewhat frosted. They're not terrible, but I was expecting more for a product that costs over $6CAD each- this is on sale. I like how sheer they are... that's about it.

Tinted Moisturizer -Revlon - Age Defying Light Makeup SPF 30 [DISCONTINUED]
silvercatt 5/17/2006 7:08:00 PM
I kind of wish I bought the skin brightener because FAIR is too dark on me. (on that note, does the skin brightener have any coverage?) The texture and SPF are amazing, it doesn't clog my pores and moisturizes w/o feeling heavy or looking mask-like. It has something like medium coverage, maybe a bit less than that but still enough to perfect skin. Very convenient packaging, although it's a bit on the expensive side. I'm disappointed with the colour but if you find a match, I recommend buying it.

Lips -The Body Shop - Lip & Cheek Stain
silvercatt 5/7/2006 9:54:00 AM
I completely agree that this is the PERFECT colour for pale skin. My skin is nearly white. All foundation is too dark for me (except this one, which BTW is white). Lipstick always looks too harsh or too dark or just too heavy and garish.
This stain is a beautiful rose colour that goes on like water and sets into a sheer tone on your lips. You can add more layers and add brightness and colour. It dries quite quickly so you have to work fast on skin (as cheek stain). Lasts until you take it off.
Its much cheaper than other stains -like Benefit and Tarte- which are about $24 per small tube, while this is $14 (both in CAD).
Will repurchase, and now I won't need anything else.

Foundations -Manic Panic - Dreamtone Flawless Foundation & Color Corrector - Virgin (White)
silvercatt 5/7/2006 9:40:00 AM
This is actually the closest colour foundation I have ever found for my skin-tone. It comes in a glass jar with a paddle-like applicator.
I know it's white, but it evens out skin perfectly. It's got a great consistency but doesn't spread evenly, not even on moisturized skin. Once set, this foundation lasts for a long time but is also easy to take off. It does not flake or accentuate flaws too much.
I find it works better as a primer for my pale skin.
Out of NY I think it can be a bit hard to find (especially in Canada) so you have to visit specialty stores like costume shops (with makeup counters) or goth type places.

Foundations -Cover Girl - Clean Make Up
silvercatt 4/3/2006 8:03:00 AM
I have the lightest shade and although in the bottle it looks nearly perfect, when I put it on it becomes too dark... I agree about it going on orange or becoming orange after a while, however since I do have the lightest shade I just look tanned (which I don't particularly like, but I don't look like a fruit or root vegetable). I bought it on sale for under 4 dollars so I may just use it for a while before switching to a tinted moisturizer since I mix this with moisturizer anyways. It sets strange: does not moisturize but looks dewy nonetheless. still, this is decent enough to wear when desperate and doesn't clog my pores. My mother on the other hand loves this. She has darker skin and says this matches well and doesn't dry out or break out her skin. will not repurchase unless for a dollar or for her.

Cleansers -Alba Botanica - Sea Lettuce Cleansing Cream
silvercatt 3/17/2006 10:15:00 AM
Well, I was looking for something creamy and somewhat more natural and sensitive skin friendly than Dove... I suppose this is it. I can't say It's done miracles or anything, and it confuses me a bit (directions say 'wet face, apply, rinse', but there seems to be no point in that... it comes off fine with just a cotton pad) HOWEVER, it did clean off all my makeup, did not strip my dry, sensitive skin and i loved the smell. The smell actually quelled my nausea a couple of days ago. Strange, but handy. Good price too: 9$ CAD

Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Flip Shades
silvercatt 1/21/2006 10:04:00 AM
I remember these were extremely popular when they first came out. I was still pretty little, but somehow convinced my mom to buy me this in strawberry and chocolate flavours. I believe they were either discontinued or produced in much smaller quantities since they can be a bit hard to find.
Recently, I stumbled on to these at a newly opened dollar-store and decided to give them another shot. Seeing as I never liked the chocolate one much, I stuck to a pink shade.
Although I don't like it nearly as much now as I did then, I still think it's well worth a dollar. The colour is sheer, which is good for me. I still love the smell, and it's a nice shade. I really like the packaging (even though it can break easily), because you can open it with one had. It is also relatively moisturizing.
Overall, I still like this product enough to re-purchase it [again].
