Liquid -L'Oreal - Visible Lift Serum Absolute Advanced Age-Reversing Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I just tried this makeup today. I did not think I would like it as well as the L'oreal Lumi - but I do! It is so creamy and goes on smooth. It just takes a bit, so think I will use less next time. I got the classic Ivory and it matches pretty well. I also set this with a bit of pressed powder. Texture looks great on:)

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup

Here I am with my foundations again! This is wonderful for mature skin which is also dry - and a few wrinkles, too. The soft ivory/classic ivory was perfect for me. I have a little method here that may save some of you that thinks this foundation is "too wet." I put this foundation over my Daywear Plus foundation. Now, here's the trick: I blot the foundation with a tissue just a bit, then stipple powder over it with a matching pressed powder. Voila! I have accomplished good coverage, line smoothing, and a joyful heart with this method. I believe some of you may be using too much foundation and then not blotting. Powder will still let a dewy look shine through if you sort of lightly stipple it. For mature skin, this is so perfect. I would not use this if I had oily skin, though:)

Liquid -Cover Girl - Advanced Radiance Age Defying - Liquid
rated 4 of 5
pattyshine 4/28/2013 12:39:00 AM

This foundation really reminds so much of the fragrance free foundation CG discontinued in the Clean makeup line. Frankly, I'm not sure I can find any difference. I am using the same Natural Ivory shade, and I compared it with the discontinued Clean makeup; the shades were exactly the same, as well as the texture. This makeup moisturizes well, and the coverage is medium. The makeup itself seems very thin when you pump it from the bottle, but don't let that fool you! It really helps my lines, and with a little powder gives a very wonderful finish. If you like the fragrance free Cover Girl makeup that is reviewed on here, with very good ratings - you might like this:)

Liquid -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
rated 5 of 5
pattyshine 4/25/2013 9:39:00 PM

I love this!! This makeup covers like a concealer, but looks so wonderful - like you may not have makeup on (wink). I have small brown discolorations on my cheeks near my nose, and this covered so well that I could not tell exactly where they were. Of course, I used a moisturizer under this, in this case Avon Damatic Firming Cream. I love the pump, too. Try this and see. It just takes a bit, so this should last you for a while.

Powder -Laura Mercier - Foundation Powder
rated 3 of 5
pattyshine 4/20/2013 12:41:00 AM

I am older and this powder does not work for me. I find the coverage very heavy. I also had trouble finding the shade I wanted. I have no. 2 and 3 shades, both seem pink. I have fair skin and use either the pink or yellow tones as I am so very neutral. I can see why younger people would like this foundation because I do believe it lasts well on the skin and in the summer . But, for me, I use it only as a setting powder, and that very sparingly. Even though I had used very little of this powder, I hit pan immediately. This compact has very little product, especially when compared to Estee Lauder and Lancome, which are very generous. To each his own. I have good skin and do not need but a little coverage. Update: I forgot to add that I love the little square puffs and ordered more:)

Masks -Mary Kay - Moisture Rich Mask Formula 1
rated 5 of 5
pattyshine 4/15/2013 4:17:00 PM

I love, love this mask. I have sensitive, dry and mature skin. I used to sell Mary Kay products in the 90's and used this mask then. Well, I promptly forgot about it and went on with my life. About a month ago, my skin needed something so badly to refresh it. Everything burns my skin now that I am older and especially a scrub! I had ordered previously a basic skin care set from Mary Kay: cleanser, moisturizer, toner and mask (which is a moisturizer and scrub as well.) I carefully applied this on a clean face (face must be clean!) and waited just about one minute. I think the directions asks for more time, but that is not for me. I softly used some light, circular motions and removed with a warm wash cloth. Voila! No burning! My skin looked so much better, and now I am using this twice a week. So nice to find my old friend again after all this time. I ordered more of the mask on line and will keep this treatment up. Actually, Mary Kay basic skin care is an old, but very reliable product.

Crème -Revlon - PhotoReady Compact Makeup
rated 5 of 5
pattyshine 4/12/2013 7:33:00 PM

I love the Photoready Compact by Revlon. However, it makes so much difference in the way I use this makeup. Let me say first that I have dry, mature skin. My coloring is fair. This is why I like it: First of all, though I have dry skin, I must use a good moisturizer. l have used Estee Lauder Daywear Plus for many years. I use two shades of the makeup - a light layer of Vanilla, and then another light layer of Shell. I use a bit of a darker powder over this, just a bit, hardly any. The reason I am so in love with this make-up is because the shades, when I mix them, light up my skin. I have fine pores already, and this makeup makes my skin look ultra smooth like it did years ago. I almost think I am cheating:) The secret to any makeup is the application, and we all know that already. I usually play with any foundation first to give it a chance, using different surface powders, and again, only the smallest bit (of powder, that is). I think mature skin needs a vibrancy that only the colors of the makeup can give us. By mixing Vanilla and Shell, this is what I get - aliveness and a great finished look. I stay away from ashiness as much as I can and think Revlon has some "light-up" shades:) I wish they had not discontinued this.

Concealers -E.L.F. - All Over Love Stick
rated 4 of 5
pattyshine 3/13/2013 1:12:00 AM

I picked this E.L.F. cover stick up at the grocery store the other day. It was only one dollar! Did I expect it to work - not really. When I got home, I tried it on my skin and the match was pretty good. The color is apricot beige. Later, as I was doing my makeup, I put a bit of this on my finger and softly smudged it under my eyes. The effect was marvelous and I am not joking! It was the best under eye cover I have ever used! This stick comes in several shades, but if you are fair or fair-medium, this should work for you. The grocery store had just got in these elf products, and I am glad I noticed. It can be used as an all over stick also, but the tube is small and may not last very long - but, for a dollar...?

Lotions/ Creams -Equate - Dry Skin Cream (in jar)
rated 5 of 5
pattyshine 2/19/2013 2:55:00 PM

I have found it - I have found it. Something for my very dry skin is here. I have said in many of my reviews how my changing skin is surely changing, and it has not stopped yet! This very inexpensive cream in a great big jar is marvelous! It is called "Equate Dry Skin Creme" - it is the dupe of Eucerin cream. I have very dry cheeks under my cheekbones and on the inner side of them. I usually use my Estee Lauder Daywear Cream first and then this. If I am going to put on makeup, I use just a bit, and then, a liittle more at night. I see my wrinkles stretch way out. EL Daywear is expensive, but it always helps my skin, and this Equate cream is the clincher! Hey, you older ones, you especially would love this.

Skincare - Face -Avon - Dramatic Firming Cream
rated 4 of 5
pattyshine 2/9/2013 10:36:00 PM

I just received this cream today, and I must say that it is unusual. It does firm! Probably so much that I cannot use it all over my face. I found that just under the eyes really helped lines - kind of like weird! I hesitate recommending using any cream off-label for the eyes, but I have very sensitive eyes, and this cream did not bother them. You might want to try it! It is not expensive and I think I will try it as an eye cream for a while and see if I like it in the long run. UPDATE: I have used this cream for a while now and am so surprised what a good moisturizer it is. I looked up the ingredients and found them to be quite superior IMHO. Wow - not such an expensive cream, either - nice to give it a try. Yes, and I have dry skin!

Mascara -Clinique - High Lengths Mascara
rated 5 of 5
pattyshine 2/3/2013 9:54:00 PM

This is the best if you have stubby lashes! I used this and I had long, individual lashes that were to die for. A miracle in itself. I used this to point up on my lashes as well as the usual way we bring up the brush. I have tried everything! You may have to perfect your technique a bit, but then you will be rewarded. Please Clinique - do not discontinue!!

Liquid -Cover Girl - Clean Makeup Fragrance Free [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
pattyshine 3/23/2012 11:45:00 PM

Hi - Me again with my foundation obsession! I came across this foundation in my stash and thought I would try it again - it had been some time and I did not remember its properties. I was gloriously surprised when I put this on over my Daywear Plus Moisturizer. Not only was the color (natural ivory) perfect, but it gave me such radiance! I then set with just a bit of Cover Girl Powder in classic beige. My skin has been so dry, changing properties, annoying me in so many ways - then voila, what a nice discovery. Like many others, I have tried so many foundations and I loved many of them, but my changing skin kept changing. If you have a more mature skin, or a somewhat dry skin; if your skin annoys you, breaks out, or you cannot stand the ingredients, this is for you! I have worn this long enough now to know how much I love it, and my irascible skin is finally satisfied. Some people may object to the mineral oil, but I have never found fault with mineral oil one bit. You might want to try this even though it has been discontinued (sigh). I scoop it up anywhere I can find it and I am now the proud owner of about seven bottles - and they were very inexpensive:)

Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Classic Ivory - Compact
rated 4 of 5
pattyshine 2/26/2012 6:41:00 PM

I have just discovered how I like the "old formula" of Cover Girl Clean Pressed Powder. I use the Classic Ivory in the pocket powder and the Simply Powder compact. I guess almost by accident I found the Buff Beige powder in the brown circular compact for normal skin was really wonderful. It matched my skin and looked just as good as my more expensive powder foundations. This is supposed to be a powder, but it makes a very good foundation in my case. I have bought several of these compacts from any place I can find. Though I use Classic Ivory in their other formulations of powder, I use buff beige in this one. I certainly wish they would bring the old formulas back. Cover Girl had delved into newer lines and formulas of makeup. This is fine, but they should never have discontinued their old line, which thousands of women love.

Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Clean pressed powder - Sensitive skin
rated 4 of 5
pattyshine 2/6/2012 8:02:00 PM

Hi - Here I am again reviewing powders and foundations. My skin has become much more sensitive, and I have to watch what I put on my face as my skin will burn like fire, and show it! I used this CG Clean Powder for Sensitive skin just today. I have used the "older models", but I thought they were just so-so. My mother loved them, however and were great on her skin. Going back to this new powder for sensitive skin, I found I really like it! It was like a light foundation which was a real plus for me. I have this in Med. Light. It may be a little pink, but it is fine. I think if people are not getting their correct shades, this may be where some of the negative reviews are coming from. I do not find it powdery or cakey at all. I will update later if I need to, after I have used this for a while:)UPDATE: I still like this powder, but I feel one might have to touch up two or three times a day.

Concealers -Revlon - New Complexion Concealer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
pattyshine 11/12/2009 3:35:00 AM

I have this concealer in light 01. Like I do so often, I got this out of one of my boxes to try again. This concealer has two shades that one can mix together or use singularly. I use the darker shade to conceal some uneveness on my cheeks, and the lighter shade to tone down my chin. This concealer works quite well, and I have ordered two more! There is not much product and because I use this on a larger surface, it will not last long. I also like Benefit's Bo-oing ( and the cute name, too), but i need the mix of colors sometimes that the Revlon concealer gives. I wish this had not been discontinued, though!
