Shampoo -Pantene - Pantene Restoratives Anti-Breakage Shampoo
obsess1beauty 9/6/2012 9:22:00 PM
This serves as a warning rather than a review. Also, the product I used is a reformulation of the older one and is called 'breakage to strength' and it comes in a white bottle with a pink label. First off, I will say that at the very least, the product smells good. That is the only thing passable about it. Everything else fails. After the second wash, my hair felt limp and heavy to the point where I could barely run a comb through it. To add insult to injury, I had about two fist fulls of hair coming out each time I used this product. Like an idiot though, I kept using it, thinking the residue was from something else and the hair loss was from not combing my hair regularly. I was hoping that what little breakage I had would disappear considering the promises on the label. Well, about a week later, my hair was breaking off in 3 inch pieces. Even after stopping the use of this, and after literally five intensive protein/moisture treatments, my hair is still suffering. I'm left speechless at the now poor quality of pantene, but I guess it's my fault as a consumer as I consistently give them chances based off of nostalgia and seeing all these new products of theirs hit the shelves. I think I've learned my lesson and hopefully no one else will go through what I have!

Conditioner -Nexxus - Humectress Conditioner
obsess1beauty 6/30/2012 10:59:00 PM
Two words...MUY HORRIBLE!!!!! This is yet another product so bad that I have to leave a review, or rather a 'warning'. The first few days that I used this, my hair felt like it was done in salon heaven. A couple days later, I went about my usual styling tasks after washing/conditioning with this humectress pair and my hair felt crunchy and dry. No problem, I assumed— maybe I needed to deep condition and apply a hot oil treatmeant since I did wash my hair a couple times that week. Well after treating my hair with hot oil, while still using this conditioner and its matching shampoo, matters got WORSE. My hair suddenly took on a greasy tumbleweed texture full of flyaway pieces of hair. I had to use a hard water 'chelating' shampoo to remove the scum this conditioner left behind. After going back and scanning the ingredients, I can say that it is littered with -xanes and -cones (all of which can cause build-up). Also, fragrance is near the top of the ingredient list and I've heard that this can dry out already parched hair. This stuff has so much going against it that it's almost criminal to even think about buying it. Now, I am only co-washing my hair and cannot use any shampoo for a while as it will cause my tresses to dry up even further and essentially break off. Nexxus isn't what it used to be.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Organic Root Stimulator - Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner
obsess1beauty 1/11/2012 9:30:00 PM
Two chelating shampoos, one regular clarifying shampoo and baking soda...over the course of two days- this is what it took for me to wash ALL of this product out of my hair. This used to work for me when it first came out, nowadays it just sits on my hair and makes it feel like I tried conditioning it with candle wax!!! Literally. I'm not sure what is in this to have made it make my hair feel so awkward (I want to say it was the hydrolyzed collagen, but again, I'm not too certain). No matter what I was doing, it was FLAT and dull. Granted, I have really coarse and thick hair that soaks up anything that has moisture, so it may just be me, but if your hair is anything like mine, steer clear of this! I love their olive oil shampoo though...

Treatments -Garnier - Fructis Daily Care Silky Secret Leave-In
obsess1beauty 1/7/2012 10:10:00 PM
This is definitely HG status for my african american hair which is fickle, dry, damaged/breaking and super thick. I bought this on a whim after deciding I needed a detangler/leave-in to manage my new hair cut. I was skeptical as garnier has a reputation for big claims and little results (at least in my case), but after I sprayed this on a single section of my hair and combed through it...WOW...!!!! It made my hair SO MANAGEABLE and smooth; not to mention it smells good too! I was blown away. My hair is such a hassle when it's dry that I only comb it when it's wet and covered in conditioner- not anymore! Also, this has protein in it, so if your hair is protein-sensitive, beware. I noticed a TON less shedding as I used this, too. I comb my hair over the sink to monitor how much of it comes out of my comb...I'm happy to say only a few strands will be dearly missed. This stuff is literally a miracle!

Conditioner -Suave - Professionals Black Raspberry and White Tea Color Care
obsess1beauty 11/21/2011 4:05:00 AM
My hair is starting to look a whole lot better after using this conditioner with its matching shampoo. I really made a mess of my hair using another brand. Some of my hair broke off and was so dry that it was covered with frail, white split ends. I think this is really helping my hair recover from this damage that has been caused over time. After the second use, the split ends were virtually nonexistent and my hair glimmers! My sister even commented on how I had no visible split ends, so it has to be working. I love the smell of this (kinda smells like blackberry jam or some type of sweet smelling bubble bath) and it has a light texture, but penetrates my super thick hair enough to where I can run a comb through it with ease. It leaves it very smooth and so shiny. It may just be me, but my hair feels somewhat stiff when it's damp after using this in conjunction with the shampoo. It may have to do with the silicone ingredients, but upon drying it's bouncy, shiny and very soft. The only downfall for this product is the packaging. There's always water left at the bottom and inside of the flip cap, which isn't that big a deal, but if I need to move it anywhere out of the shower, I have to pull the cap off to empty it out. Still, it's a keeper for me thus far.

Shampoo -Pantene - medium-thick hair solutions dry to moisturized
obsess1beauty 11/20/2011 10:53:00 PM
I waited at least two weeks before submitting a review for this. It worked really well at first!- Had a good lather, smelled nice, moisturized and did not leave my hair dried-out. After four washes, that was over. The shampoo didn't lather, started to smell 'stale' on my hair after being rinsed and left it tangled, matted and FALLING OUT EVERYWHERE. I swear a fist full of hair came out of my head once after I detangled with its matching conditioner. I thought my hair was shedding because it's commonplace for someone with relatively long hair, but there was just too much coming out for that to be the case. When I switched brands, it was almost immediately that I could tell the difference. My hair wasn't dull and crunchy anymore. I doubt pantene even tests their products on actual human hair before they have them put on shelves. I think if I had gone another week or two with using this, I would have little to NO hair on my head. Now, I have wispy pieces of broken ends that're extremely difficult to smooth down. On top of that my hair feels like it has thinned out at the ends. NOT good. Will not use pantene ever again ):

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Almond & Shea Butter
obsess1beauty 7/5/2011 2:02:00 AM
This is my new go-to shampoo. I washed my hair with a super clarifying shampoo and followed up with this and my hair was brought back to life from being stiff and extremely dry. It imparts a decent amount of moisture without weighing it down and that's important for my porous, frizzy hair which has been left shiny with body and bounce after using it; also, it has a soft kind of vanilla-like scent. Yum! My hair has been in the worst shape from over-washing it due to so many hit or miss attempts with other products. I was going to give up and start using something organic, but that didn't work out well whatsoever. In a last ditch effort, I decided to try this since it was the only thing I hadn't tried and at two bucks, there was nothing to lose. I can't believe this is only two dollars for the quality that it is! Strangely, I also use this as a body wash and it works fantastically! Leaves my skin silky and hydrated. Certainly a repeat purchase for me.

Conditioner -Suave - Professionals Almond & Shea Butter
obsess1beauty 7/5/2011 1:46:00 AM
This is a wonderful conditioner. I'm so mad at myself for spending $30 on a Paul Mitchell conditioner that didn't do nearly as well as this did. My hair is very, very dry. Whenever I comb it, it feels like it'll break off and is frizzy at that. After playing with every conditioner from other drugstore brands, I gave up and decided to try this on a whim. Afterwords, my hair was shiny and like other reviewers have mentioned, there's definitely a little bounce left behind after styling, too- and the shine!! My hair is glossy as if I've put serum in it, yet I haven't. I'm shocked at how well this works. Although it has slip and is just slightly watery, it still moisturizes and doesn't leave the bottom of the tub dangerously slippery. Repurchasing as soon as I run out!

Conditioner -Pantene - Classic Care Conditioner
obsess1beauty 5/21/2011 1:02:00 PM
This is pretty good conditioner. I was using professional conditioner that didn't thoroughly penetrate my hair but this did the job. It has a thick consistency that dry hair craves and it smells.....way more perfumy than its older formula; the scent does wear off after rinsing though. Really helps obscure wild split ends and smooth out frizz. It made my hair soft with better elasticity and I was able to wear my bangs after they were roller set instead of having to run my straigtener over them. I'm a happy camper thus far!

Shampoo -Pantene - Classic Care Shampoo
obsess1beauty 5/21/2011 12:35:00 PM
My hair has become fickle these days and the pro products I've been using make it so oddly soft that it feels like its disintegrating upon being rinsed or combed. That said, I decided to downgrade to a drugstore brand as my hair likes simplicity. Not sure why I chose pantene, but it was a good option. It strengthened my hair after I used it and added just a touch of volume. I'm not big on dimethicone, but this 'classic' formula doesn't bother my hair or skin. Prior to washing my hair with this, I had those white split ends everywhere, but afterwards they're nearly invisible and my hair is shining! So weird how pantene can have a mass of suck products but have one or two that actually work; even stranger is the fact that I have the driest hair ever, yet this works fine for me despite it being geared toward normal hair. I'll keep using this and hope the effects of dimethicone never catch up to me. EDIT: All was good and well until I noticed major frizz and TONS of body being added to my hair. This is a volumizing shampoo in disguise apparently. I had to stop using this for those two reasons. Subtracting two lippies for incomplete advertising!

Shampoo -Garnier - Pure-Clean
obsess1beauty 5/2/2011 1:46:00 PM
Moral of the story here is that the popular complaint is likely the truth as is this strange residue everyone says this leaves behind. I wasn't immune either despite having thick, coarse hair. It smells good, lathers wonderfully, but garnier just can't seem to keep their shampoos from leaving behind this gunk coating...yuck. It's no wonder I haven't used this brand in years and should have kept the trend going. It took me THREE separate shampoos to get this nastiness out and I don't even think it's near gone....nor are the tangles. Just save your $2 for something else cheap and valuable cause this is FAR from being that. EDIT: I love the picture someone uploaded. LOL. I had to comment on that. It's exactly how your hair feels after you use it, too.

Shampoo -Infusium 23 - shampoo Repairology
obsess1beauty 4/19/2011 5:29:00 PM
I don't even know where to begin with this atrocious excuse of a 'shampoo'. First off, it has the worst sulfates (ALS) that hair could possibly be subjected to. Secondly- silicones, silicones, silicones....quite a few of them. Dimethicone and amodimethicone further down the ingredient list. This was all too much! I really wanted to like this product because it had a relatively nice and subtle scent but the performance....! I was afraid to touch my hair after using this; it left my hair rough and stiff. Not 'revitalized' in the least. I stopped using it before I caused any severe damage to my already super dry/breakable hair...

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Sleek Look Shampoo
obsess1beauty 2/21/2011 8:13:00 PM
This has some kind of tropical coconut smell to it that smelled okay in the bottle, but once it gets on your hair it will NOT come out and it leaves you smelling like a wet dog. My hair felt soft upon the first wash, but on the second one there was an obvious layer of dimethicone. So I smelled like a wet, coconut-crisco covered dog. Ew. I threw this stuff out so fast. It broke me out too! Never ever again. I liked the past version of the suave sleek that smelled like bug spray as opposed to this newer one.

The only thing I can thank Suave for is further proving to me how lethal dimethicone is to my skin!! I ended up with little bumps on my forehead and around my hairline because of the ingredients in this stuff. I could have taken it back, but I would have felt even cheaper than what it originally cost. I just say 'no' now. Not letting spiffy packaging trick me anymore.

Shampoo -Alberto Vo5 - Blackberry & Sage Tea Therapy Shampoo
obsess1beauty 2/21/2011 8:01:00 PM
This smells EXACTLY like Mr. Bubbles bubble bath- no joke. I distinctly remember that scent from my childhood, but anyway- ! This is an okay shampoo. It didn't dry out my hair nor did it moisturize it or even give volume as the bottle states. It just 'cleansed' my hair. I have to use it a few more times to see any type of end result though. I do like how it smells! It goes well with its matching conditioner. In all, I don't think it did help or harm. It just does its job as a basic shampoo.
