Polishes -OPI - Barre My Soul
kes1234 7/30/2012 11:58:00 AM
Honestly, It's a pretty dull colour. The first coat applies beautifully but is so sheer there's little difference between it and a cleat polish. If you try to build up the layers it is very, very easy to streak. If you do manage to get a couple of coats on without it looking dreadful it is a nice, understated pink perfect for work. I would have given it a three but to be honest at this price I want a better behaved polish and you could pick up a dupe from any drugstore brand that would perform just as well if not better.

Brows -Paul & Joe - eyebrow liner 03
kes1234 5/9/2012 11:35:00 AM
Not impressed. I bought this in the blonde shade for my light brown, ashy toned hair. It is far too warm, and far too brown for a blonde pencil. It would probably suit redheads and strawberry blondes but not anyone looking for cooler tones. I love the packaging, the no-sharpen style pencils are handy and give softer lines than a traditional pencil. You don't seem to get very much for your money, the pencil "lead" is only just over an inch long, making this very pricey. I gave it two lippies, mainly for the packaging. The colours and amount of product would put me off buying it again.

Lip Treatments -Boots - no7 protect and perfect lip care
kes1234 5/9/2012 11:06:00 AM
This is essentially a moisturizer for your lips - you apply it and rub it in and it leaves you with soft smooth, bare lips. I've pretty much stopped using lip balm since discovering this stuff. It gives me much better results, doesn't feel greasy and works great under lipsticks, even dark and matte colours that show up every flaw. I'm deducting a lippie because I don't like the packaging. It comes in the same type of packaging as a nivea lipgloss, and I'd prefer a small tube of the cream itself as it would be more hygenic and easier to control the amount that came out. I also think £9 is a bit costly for a high street brand, I bought a similar paul and joe product for £10.50. If you have a boots £5 voucher this would be a good way to spend it, it's certainly worth £4.

Sunscreen -Boots - No7 shimmering lip and eye screen spf30
kes1234 5/9/2012 10:48:00 AM
This is a great product for adding a little more sunscreen to your face during the day as it can be applied over makeup where your skin is most vulnerable. It's not pigmented on the skin. It looks quite orange in the tube but is invisible when applied apart from leaving a slight shimmery sheen. Not sparkly or glittery so would work well for natural day make up or on holiday. On the lips it feels like a sheer, moisturizing lipstick but is nearly invisible and applied to the eyes it is very sheer, light and gives them a slight sheen. You can apply it to your fingers first and then pat on over your eyeshadow for a bit more sun protection without affecting your makeup. I'll definitely be keeping this in my handbag as it really is a multi-tasking product. It would be a great highlighter too. I wish it came with a higher spf though as 30 wouldn't be high enough for me to use on a holiday but it's great for everyday use over the summer. I like the lipstick-type applicator though I'd worry about it melting in the heat. It is quite expensive for what it is at full price but for £2 with one of the £5 vouchers boots seem to be giving out every other week it is a terrific bargain!

Lip Gloss -Nivea - Nivea Lipcare Caregloss and Shine
kes1234 5/5/2012 7:50:00 PM
I think there's something in it I'm allergic to, it makes my lips itch almost as soon as I put it on. Even ignoring that I don't really like it. It feels very thick and gloopy, doesn't really last that long and is quite sticky on the lips. I didn't find it moisturizing. I do like the pink colour though. They are quite sheer but still noticeable. I don't like the tube type packaging. I think it's too easy to overapply and the applicator part ends up sticky and gross. Wouldn't buy it again, really didn't like it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - My Dark Magic (Venomous Villians)
kes1234 4/26/2012 8:00:00 PM
Love! This is my hands down favourite eyeshadow. It looks so beautiful in the pan and it wears really well over a primer or cream shadow. It is more glittery on than it looks in the pan. It looks great applied with a damp brush or as a liner. As I said in my review of she who dares these are beautiful, strong, glittery shades and they are the longest wearing glitter shadows I've ever used. I've given this one 5 lippies rather than four simply because I prefer it to she who dares. It is more strongly pigmented and looks great applied over just a primer rather than needing a cream shadow to really make the colours pop. Also this doesn't look muddy if you layer or blend the two shades although both colours do look quite similar when applied. Would I buy it again? Yes, if that were an option though I'm sure these will last me ages as it's not really an everyday eyeshadow. You get a good amount of product though it is expensive.

Eye Shadow -MAC - She Who Dares mineralize shadow duo (Venomous Villains Collection)
kes1234 4/26/2012 7:47:00 PM
This was my first mineralize shadow and overall I'm very impressed with them. They are very, very glittery. More so than they look in the pan but the colours are beautiful, they're very strong and the green is really unusual. They work well as liners too. I've found you need to apply with damp brushes to get a visible colour and control where the glitter goes but they seem to wear really well - mine have stayed put for hours without budging or covering the rest of my face in glitter, though I use a primer or cream shadow first. I've given them four lippies. They are beautiful, strong, glittery shades and they are the longest wearing glitter shadows I've ever used. The downside is that they are expensive and they both have a sheer, black undertone to the colours, and if you blend them together too much they look a bit muddy. I would buy again if that were an option although I'm pretty sure this one will last me ages. It's not exactly everyday eyeshadow.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - 100% cotton Turbie Twist
kes1234 4/24/2012 2:01:00 PM
This didn't work for me at all. It didn't make my hair any dryer than wrapping it in a towel would have, didn't stay up and the loop you use to secure it broke the second time I used it. It was much, much shorter than I expected. I'm pretty sure anyone with hair below shoulder length would struggle to get their hair in this. I couldn't get all my hair in, even doubled up. The fabric itself, while nice and soft, was very thin and poor quality. It soaked through after a couple of minutes then dripped water down the back of my neck. I'll stick to using a towel I think. I wouldn't rebuy.

Hair -L'Oreal - L'oreal Kids shampoo - Cherry Almond
kes1234 4/23/2012 4:37:00 PM
Ok, I admit it I love this shampoo. It's does condition a little though I have dry hair so I use a leave-in conditioner too. The bottle is cute if a bit childish. I love the scent - it's strong and a bit like bakewell tarts. When you use it the whole bathroom smells of it. It doesn't linger on your hair once it's dry. Some people will be unhappy about that but personally I'd rather not smell like kids shampoo or have it competing with my perfume so it suits me fine. It leaves your hair shiny and soft and doesn't irritate my scalp. Also I like that it's no tears and it's gentle enough to use everyday.

Shampoo -Head and Shoulders - Classic Clean Shampoo
kes1234 4/23/2012 4:27:00 PM
Didn't like this at all. I bought it to shift a bit of dandruff (I think it may have been a reaction to a conditioner) but rather than improving it, it really seemed to dry my scalp out and make it worse. I didn't notice any conditioning benefits with it, though my hair did seem to get greasy again much faster after using this one compared to the menthol one. All in all I really wish I hadn't bothered. One lippy because my hair was shiny when it dried.

Treatments -Lancome - Visionnaire [LR 2412 4%]
kes1234 4/20/2012 12:04:00 PM
This is a nice, light, water-based moisturizer that is quickly absorbed. It has a fruit scent and it feels nice and cooling when you apply it. It would probably be great on oily skin or under makeup. I don't have wrinkles so I can't say how well it works on them but even after four weeks I didn't see the slightest difference in my pores, marks or in the rest of my skin so I'm skeptical about the claims lancome makes. I used my sample bottle up but I won't be going out and spending a huge amount of money on the full size one. I don't think it's worth the money. It doesn't moisturize well enough to use on dry skin.and I'd prefer something with sunscreen in it under my makeup. I'd probably have given this a four if it was marketed as a moisturizer for oily/combination skin but as it fell so far short of the claims made about it and for the amount it costs I'm only giving it two.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails with Nylon nail polish
kes1234 4/20/2012 11:34:00 AM
Waste of money. This does not stick to my nails. I wear nail polish all the time and have no problems but this stuff chips (or sometimes peels off) within a few hours even when used over or under other polishes. It has never lasted long enough for me to know whether or not it makes my nails stronger. Very unimpressed, would not buy again.

Eyeliner -Laura Geller - I-Care Waterproof Eyeliner
kes1234 4/20/2012 11:11:00 AM
I have this in bone. I like this product though it's not what I expected. I was expecting a nude coloured eyeliner but this is actually more like a highlighing pencil. It's a sheer, pale nude colour with a pearly finish. It's great for highlighting the inner corners of my eyes and lining the lower waterline but it looks really strange as a regular eyeliner. I love the packaging - the sharpener and smudger is great and I like the twist up crayons. I gave this a three because it is a nice product but isn't what I was looking for and had I known it was sheer and shimmery I probably wouldn't have bought it.

Lip Treatments -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter
kes1234 4/20/2012 9:37:00 AM
I hated this. It is like rubbing melted after eights on your lips. The liquid itself is thick and gloopy and cloyingly sweet. It has a strong chocolate mint scent. It does have a bit of shine to it - more noticeable than most lip balms. I didn't find it very moisturizing and I didn't like the package it came in. It doesn't last long on the lips so you would need to keep reapplying.

Skincare - Body -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Formula jar
kes1234 4/20/2012 9:29:00 AM
This is a nice, rich body butter. It is very moisturizing but it takes ages to absorb and seems to leave your skin with an almost waxy texture. It is a nice cream to put on very dry skin at night and it does make your skin noticeably softer the next day. But I can't imagine how anyone could use it during the day or on their face. It is a bit too heavy for for me and makes my skin break out if I use it more than once a week or so but it does do a good job of fading scars. I wouldn't rebuy this. I really don't like the smell. It smells strongly of melted chocolate and the scent lingers on your skin until you wash it off. If you like that scent you'll love this. If not I'd avoid it.
