Other -Unlisted Brand - rice bran oil

I used to have terrible skin problems until I switched to all natural products. My skin used to be dry, flaky and itchy, and nothing seemed to fix my problem. I love rice bran oil, I recently discovered it. I used to use grape seed oil, but I replaced it with rice bran. Rice bran has a lot more benefits than grape seed. Rice bran contains anti-oxidants and vitamin E, its perfect for sensitive and dry skin. I also apparently intercepts UV rays and protect your skin. I've been adding rice bran oil to my lotion and also been using it paired with sweet almond oil. I mix half rice bran, half sweet almond oil, with added vitamin E. I apply it just before getting out the shower, when your pores are open, the oil sinks right in your skin. My skin is really soft and I never get dry, itchy or flaky patches. My fiance always comment on how smooth my skin it.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

I used to have terrible skin problems, until I switched to all natural and homemade. My skin used to be flaky, dry and itchy, and nothing seemed to solve my problem. I mostly use coconut oil when I make cold press soap, but I also use it for other stuff. I use it as a hair mask, which is basically coconut oil with a little amount of lemon essential oil. I leave it in my hair a couple hours and wash it out. Makes my hair super soft! I love to use coconut oil in my homemade lotions, it gives them a nice and rich texture. During the summer time, coconut oil really helps protect your skin from the sun ( not a sun screen though, you need to use sun screen also ). I do not use coconut oil on my face, I find it way to rich for that. I don't like the feel. I use lighter oils on my face like jojoba or argan. And yes you can definitely use it for cooking instead of butter, but make sure you get deodorized coconut oil, or everything will taste like coconuts! And use foodgrade coconut oil if you do.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Sweet Almond Oil

I used to have terrible skin problems until I started using all natural products and making cosmetics myself. My skin used to be dry, flaky and itchy, and it didn't matter how much lotion I used, my skin would never get better. I've been using sweet almond oil for a couple of years now. Either by incorporating it in my homemade lotion or applying it mixed with others oils. I experimented with a lot of mixes in the past years, my current mix is half rice bran oil, half sweet almond, with some added vitamin E. I use it only in the shower, just before getting out. All your pores are open and the oil just sinks right in your skin, so you don't feel oily for long. My skin is super smooth and I never get any dry or itchy patches. My fiance always comment on how smooth my skin is. I used to get my oil at the pharmacy, now I get it at new direction aromatics.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Ultimatum
rated 5 of 5
cyens 8/27/2012 12:59:00 PM

This eyeshadow I have is awesome. It has a silky smooth texture that just glides across your skin. The color is a pale beige with a peach undertone. As a wash across your lids, it just opens your eyes and makes you look more awake. Its really a stable eyeshadow. Its a perfect neutral color for everyday wear, with a beautiful glow, which doesn't make it one of those boring neutrals. I also use it to blend with more vibrant colors, to tone them down. Again, I think there is 2 batches of this eyeshadow, or its been reformulated. The eyeshadow I have is ES155A, made in PROC, Batch number: 12202009. Mine has no glitters in it what so ever ( I hate glitter to start with ), the texture is super smooth ( the silkiest shadow I own from NYX ).

Toners -Unlisted Brand - witch hazel
rated 5 of 5

I've been using witch hazel distillate as a toner for 8 years now. I used to have terrible skin problems and then found out that most commercial products are filled with garbage chemicals, so I switched to all natural, by reading a lot and making my own cosmetics. I started by using witch hazel dist. sold at the pharmacy, then switched to witch hazel from new direction aromatics, which is 15% ethanol ( they now have an alcohol free version ) I put it in a small spray bottle I got at the dollar store and had a few drops of glycerin in the mix. I also use this when I apply mineral foundation, I often spray my face first so the powder adheres and gives me a better coverage. And finally, I also use it when I shave my arm pit with my electric shaver. It reduce the itchy feeling and it feels really nice. After using this for 8 years, I would never return to commercial toner, no way!

Moisturizers -Desert Essence - Jojoba Oil - 100% pure
rated 5 of 5
cyens 8/24/2012 10:28:00 AM

I have very sensitive skin, most commercial lotion and soap give me really bad skin irritation or break out. I've been making my own cosmetics for a while now for these reasons, but I never can my lotion for my face that isn't too oily/thick. So I decided to try using jojoba oil pure as a face moisturizer, after reading in a book that it as the same consistency as skin sebum. Its amazing! I've been using this for about 4 years now and it perfect. I apply one or two drops to my face aright after washing it with sls free soap, and toning it with witch hazel distillate ( with a few added drops of vegetable glycerin ). I use this more during the winter than the summer, as my face gets really dry from the harsh Canadian winters mixed the drying heat of my electric heaters. It really balances everything. I also been using this jojoba oil on my piercing and my stretchers. It really helped the healing process. UPDATE: I finished my bottle and I repurchased organic oil from a soap /lotion making supplier because it was cheaper. But Desert essence is still a fantastic product.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Geisha
rated 4 of 5
cyens 8/8/2012 10:32:00 PM

I purchased this on the internet, so I wasn't able to swatch it first. Its not really what I expected, since I was looking for a highlight color. I find its too shimmery to use on the brow bone. I also tried using it as a wash across the lid, the texture is quite grainy, even use wet, it doesn't look good worn across the lid. Then I started using this to highlight the tear duct, it looks great this way. I find myself using it everyday for this reason, with any color eyeshadow I wear. It really makes your eyes glow. If I would purchase it again, I don't know if I would, maybe, maybe not. I think there might be better white eyeshadow out there.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Vanilla Sky
rated 5 of 5
cyens 8/8/2012 10:25:00 PM

This is a very soft yellow toned cream color with slight gold shimmer. The color does have a very small amount of white in the formula, which is barely noticeable, but it does brighten your eye once applied. The texture is very smooth and blendable. This is not a very flashy color, its more neutral and perfect for everyday wear, specially during the summer months. I like to wear this color as a wash across the lid with some black eyeliner, just for a simple look.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Wildflower
rated 5 of 5
cyens 8/7/2012 7:25:00 PM

I really love this eyeshadow, even if I just purchased fairly recently. Its exactly the type of color I love. Its a pale pink with gold shimmer, with warm undertones. It makes my green eye pop and the fact is a warmer shade of pink, it suits my complexion perfectly. Right now I have a slight tan and it looks amazing, I want to wear it everyday. Reminds me of the very old version of flamingo ( when it was made in L.A. ) without the purple undertone and being paler shade of pink. I was at the a store, where they have a very nice selection of NYX products, including testers where you can swatch the product. I saw this pink eyeshadow that had a butter smooth texture, but on the same rack, was 3 different shades and I couldn't tell wish one was which, because seriously, they all looked exactly the same in the pan. It was sweet pink, cotton candy and wildflower. There was only one wildflower eyeshadow left, and when I saw it was an older version of NYX, when it was still made in L.A., I picked this one no question asked. In the end, it wasn't the same pink I swatched in the store, because it didn't have any gold shimmer, but who cares, gold shimmer makes it even better!

Eye Shadow -NYX - Antique Gold
rated 4 of 5
cyens 8/5/2012 11:39:00 AM

This is my second pot of antique gold. I first purchase it when it got launched here in Canada in 2004, it was the first batches of this product, when it was still made in USA. The color was a dirty gold with hints of khaki green and the texture was super smooth. When applied, it look like a pale green gold. It was great, I loved to wear in during the summer month when I have a tan. I posted a picture above of this eyeshadow. You can see that it didn't have the typical 4 square pattern yet and the eye shadow was flat. The new pot I purchase is made in China ( p.r.o.c ) and the color a dirty gold but there isn't as much green in it now. Its a darker tone of gold that is more brown now. I tried wearing it across the lid, but its too shimmer and the texture is not as smooth, it seriously is not the same.. Being more brown than golden green, it doesn't have that nice glow anymore. Its totally a different eyeshadow now! wtf More and more, I find NYX really annoying to purchase with all this reformulation. I have to say I do feel ripped off. When I finish a pot of eye shadow and I repurchase it a few years later, I want it to be the same thing, not some other crap! Now I have to find a dupe to replace-it. I will repurchase, only if I find a old batch eye shadow!

Eye Shadow -NYX - Hot Pink
rated 4 of 5
cyens 8/5/2012 11:18:00 AM

There is two versions of hot pink. One that is light pink with sparkles with a super gritty texture ( based on the tester in the store ) and a second one which is actually hot pink with a semi matte finish and a silky smooth finish. I own hot pink with a matte finish, the batch when they were still made in S.Korea and not the new batch made in China ( p.r.o.c. ). I really love this eye shadow, it has a smooth texture, blends super easily and its very well pigmented. I bough it to replace mac sushi flower. Next to sushi flower, its less pigmented and less flashy, but I think I prefer hot pink over sushi flower for these reasons. Hot pinks looks great on the creased paired with a lighter pink or neutral color. I give this color 4 lippies instead of 5 for 2 reasons. The new batch made in China is less pigmented and has a super gritty texture ( based on the store tester ) and this product has 2 different colors with the same name which makes people super confused.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Black
rated 5 of 5
cyens 8/5/2012 11:04:00 AM

I really love this eye shadow. I use it as a eyeliner, I use a really fine brush and draw a line right along the lash line. It doesn't fade, fall out or smudges by the end of the day, and I use it dry. It must be the most pigmented black eyeshadow I've tried. Reading other's reviews, I think there is 2 or 3 batch of this eyeshadow. I'm happy I purchased the good batch. Since I started to buy NYX, I noticed there is 5 generation. The first batch on the market was made in usa, the second was made in Korea, the newer shadows are now made in China ( p.r.o.c. ). My eye shadow is made in Korea. So if you want a good batch, look for ones made in Korea or usa?

Eye Shadow -L.A. Colors - Eye design # 74135 Invent - 30 color eye shadow palette
rated 4 of 5
cyens 8/3/2012 8:58:00 AM

UPDATE: I got an allergic reaction to this product, so I removed one lippy, and said I wouldn't repurchase. _________________________________________________________ This palette really caught my eye when I went to my local drug store. The colors are super vivid and there is a nice lay-out of the colors, that kind of reminded me of Tetris. I bough it because it was only 5$ Canadian, thinking if the colors or staying power isn't too good, its not a big lost. I have to say that this palette blew my mind. The eye shadows are nicely pigmented, they apply really easy, most of the shadows have a nice silky texture. I though the colors would be very metallic, but once you brush that first layer, the colors are more toned down. This palette is slightly less pigmented than the other palette called design 74134. This contains more soft colors which is fine with me, its perfect for everyday wear. Its contains peaches, pinks, violets and purple hues, including orange and some redish pinks. As for the packaging, its cheap plastic that comes with a sponge. I don't use the sponge, I use a brush. But one thing that its super practical, if your are travelling or on the go. This case has been banged around in my purse and none of my shadows broke. I have to say this palette is worth every single penny.

Your get enough colors to cover any styles, from nudes, to pinks, to purples, violets, blues and greens, including a grey scale for smokey eyes. The staying power is fairly good. I use them without any primer ( I never use primer ) and they stay on pretty well, but they do fade by the end of the day. As for the packaging, its cheap plastic that comes with a sponge. I'm actually surprised no one reviewed it?

Eye Shadow -NYX - Ultra Pearl Mania- Lime Pearl
rated 4 of 5
cyens 3/6/2012 12:51:00 AM

Pastel lime green shimmer with yellow undertones. This color is very shimmer and not too pigmented. You can use it as a wash across the lid or to highlight other darker colors. Comes in a cute little vial, which is good because the powder won't spill, but it makes it impossible to use properly. Its best if you press it into a pan to make it easier to use and apply. Or if you like loose eyeshadow, you can place it into a sifter jar. Great things about these, you can use some of it to mix with other loose eyeshadow and make your own color. You can even mix in your nail polish, or lip gloss ( well not this color! ) I said I wouldn't repurchase because the color doesn't look that great on me, but it can be great for other people!
