Moisturizers -Avon - True Pore-Fection Oil-Free Skin-Clearing Lotion
RubyGemZ 1/21/2008 11:20:00 PM
Unfortunately, it's not doing much for me. Minutes into applying the lotion onto my face, my skin starts to feel "taut" again. Initially I liked it because I thought it was keeping my skin somewhat matte but really it was just not enough moisture for my type of skin. Also didn't help with the blemishes either. I hate to be the dissenter here but I'm just not happy with it.

Cleansers -Carley's Clear & Smooth - Soap
RubyGemZ 1/12/2008 8:10:00 PM
I received a couple of bars when I placed an order for their combo package on eBay. I used it on my face a few times but I don't like that rubbery grip feeling it gives my skin even while its wet. Right now I'm using up the rest of the bars as a shower soap. It does it job for that purpose but I won't repurchase. It doesn't dry out my skin but I don't feel as though it's helping it either.

Moisturizers -Good Skin - All Right Oil-Free Lotion
RubyGemZ 10/20/2007 2:22:00 PM
After reading the stellar reviews last week, I immediately bought 2 tubes off of eBay. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. I think this product was a 2.5 at best. My skin was not as oily as when used with another moisturizer (even those labeled as oil-free) but it seems that the lotion is too light for my skin. My skin still felt taut in certain areas. It's hard finding something that would suit my acne prone yet dehydrated skin. Thus, my search continues..

Lipstick -Sephora - Gloss Lipstick #43
RubyGemZ 10/10/2007 8:13:00 PM
I have to say, I have never come across a shade like this before. The hue is a very close duplicate of my natural lip color but more pigmented. Plus you can reapply to build on color. This is my first purchase from the Sephora collection lipstick line and I'm already impressed at the smooth, glossy formula and staying power. I truly hope they never discontinue this shade! It just might become a staple if I learn to make a habit of finishing anything I use makeup-wise, lol.

Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Moist Lipwear - Violet Shine
RubyGemZ 9/1/2007 9:50:00 PM
I'm still surprised at the wonderful quality of this item. I've never tried their lipsticks before until now. I'm glad I started it off with choosing a nice, decent color. What's more is how it does live up to its line name, ultra moist and that it glides on so smoothly. It's not drying in the least and my lips are left with a soft sheen to it. Violet Shine looks more of a pinky lilac on me and I love how each application flatters my lip shape! It has a nice faint scent too. I'm excited to try some of the other colors now. :]

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lip 65 Lipglass
RubyGemZ 8/24/2007 10:24:00 PM
This is one of the bizarre lip products in which depending on what day I wear it, it can look either bad or not bad and decent on. I bought my tube from The Company Store in which others refer to it as CCO. The shade looks more of a pale flesh pink than anything else on me. It does have the ability to look frosty on if one's not careful in applying the product just enough so that it doesn't look overbearing. It is a tad more shimmery than the average MAC lip glass IMO.

Lipstick -Milani - Lipstick (all shades)
RubyGemZ 8/24/2007 10:19:00 PM
I have one in a shade called Tiki-Tiki-Pink # 12B. I'm also quite surprised to discover the quality of their lip products. The product has a certain scent to it, it's perfume-y for a lipstick and I can still smell some trace of it everytime I apply it on. However, I don't find it bothersome or off-putting. The shade is a pretty orchid pink with some subtle shimmer. The best thing that I like about it is that it doesn't dry out my lips which is a plus. I'm sad to say that there aren't many other shades from this line that appeal to me as much as this one does. Maybe every now and then, I'll pick up a nice LE shade. I really like the shape of the lippie too, it's unique from anything I've tried in eons.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick- Pink Parfait
RubyGemZ 3/29/2007 1:48:00 PM
It's an alright pinky shade (on me). I have semi-pigmented lips and I think that takes away the some of effect the lippy can give. In other words, I think the color would best show up and be suited for those who have porcelain skin like the other reviewer had commented. It does apply wonderfully smooth on my lips and does not drag like some of the lipsticks out there.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Apricot Lip Glaze
RubyGemZ 1/9/2007 8:57:00 PM
Though it smells lovely and fruity and goes on very shiny - it washed me out. Apparently, it shows up a bit milky on my semi-pigmented lips. It's too bad b/c I really wanted it to work for me as it looked like a very pretty shade in the tube.

Eye Makeup Remover -Estee Lauder - Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
RubyGemZ 1/9/2007 8:23:00 PM
I rec'd this as part of a gift set. While it does the job, it left my eye area feeling taut...which is a first for me. I'll use up the trial sized bottle but I know I won't be coming back to it in the future.

Lip Gloss -The Body Shop - Golden Apple Shimmer Lip Balm
RubyGemZ 12/26/2006 11:00:00 PM
Probably the only thing worthwhile to get from the whole Golden Apple holiday line in my opinion. I've bought and liked the Cranberry balm before a few years back and so I decided to give this one a try. Turns out not so bad after all. The consistency is nice and it glides on with ease. The shine is there with not much of a tint but it's a lip balm nonetheless. I can faintly see the shimmer and the scent is light and not overwhelming. I can't really see myself using it very often b/c it's in a pot but with some motivation, I'm sure that won't be much of an issue lol

Polishes -Revlon - Colorstay Always On Nail Enamel - Absolute Bliss Ultra Sheer
RubyGemZ 7/8/2006 10:44:00 PM
I believe this is the review for the "Always Sheer Bliss" shade? It appears to be the same shade to me... Anyway, this has probably been my first Revlon nail product that I've tried in years. I was sold on the sheer baby pink color but was rather disappointed when it applied more beige or ecru than pink. I am loving the top coat however. Never seen anything give off a shine like that in everything I've tried so far. I even use it in conjunction with other n/p's knowing that it'll give off the same shine. I like the slim bottles too. I find that the formulas for both the bonding color and top coat dries very quickly. If I don't apply the bonding color within due time, I would start to see webs form after trying to pull it away from my nails or the bottle. Took some time before I was done with my toes and nails too.

Cleansers -Olay - Sensitive Skin Foaming Face Wash
RubyGemZ 7/8/2006 10:37:00 PM
I bought this on the basis of someone else's recommendation. I've almost used my bottle of this but I won't be repurchasing. I just find it as an okay, basic cleanser. One bottle of this lasted me a good 6+ months now. I mainly use it at night while in the shower. Like all cleansers, it can be slightly drying on me as I have dry skin to begin with so I must apply toner or some sort of gel moisturizer quickly afterwards. I think I'm getting bored with this. It didn't do much for my skin. It just helped wash off the oil and the accumulated grim and whatever makeup I had on for the day. For those who don't have problematic skin, I would suggest this. Other than that, I would look elsewhere.

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Perfection
RubyGemZ 7/6/2006 9:11:00 PM
This has probably been the better mascaras I have tried so far. I don't know what the best is so this is what I'm going with right now. When I first used it, it lightly coated my lashes with mascara but as time goes on, my lashes begin to look thicker and blacker with each stroke. I think it has to do with putting the wand back in the tube over and over. After a month or so, the formula starts drying up. That's the main downside about it. All in all, I would use it and buy it again. I would love to try the Deep Blue shade next.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa Island Get Away Tahiti Sweetie Body Lotion with Monoi Oil
RubyGemZ 7/6/2006 8:49:00 PM
I bought the travel sized version of the lotion back when there was a post holiday sale a little while ago. Unfortunately for me, it didn't cut it in the colder months while it was still in the midst of winter. However, I just tried it today again and it worked fine now that it's summer time. The "Monoi Oil" in it is what makes my hands a bit greasy with a sheen to it. For some reason, my fingers appeared to be dried still or perhaps the lotion wasn't emollient enough when I used it during the colder months. I do love the scent though. Smells sweet, tropical and fruity.
