Treatments -TRESemme - Split Remedy Split End Sealing Serum
RedNailz 4/5/2013 4:42:00 PM
I have always had problems with breakage, long before I colored or even blow dried my hair. Nothing I've tried will stop the breakage, but this serum does help smooth the broken pieces (if all of the breakage was hidden, I'd rate it a 5). It makes my hair softer but doesn't weigh it down. I have fine hair, lightened, not quite shoulder length, and I use 1 pump of product. My hair's texture really improves when I use it. I just bought my 2nd bottle.
This one is bad on me. Not Great Lash bad, but I can't use it. It provides basic results, and that's fine. But I can't take the smudging under my eyes. I apply 1 coat on the top lashes only and by the end of the day, I have rings under my eyes. And I'm not wearing eyeliner or shadow. The best part is the brush and the application. It doesn't clump.
Each year for Christmas my husband gives me an assortment of LUSH bath bombs. I love the ones that are new to me because I never know what to expect. The Enchanter was a delightful surprise for its brilliant colors. My bath was a swirl of orange and fuchsia. And it smelled so nice (to be honest, I could not pick out what the scent was. Lush says it is lime and neroli). The less-than- delightful surprise was that I looked like I had a bright pink rash after I dried off. The pink did come off in the shower the next morning, but it was annoying enough that I would not purchase The Enchanter . UPDATE: the pink is hard to get off the bath tub, so I am dropping my rating to a 2!
Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Original Moisturizing Lotion
RedNailz 1/13/2013 12:57:00 AM
I'm reviewing this based on my husband's feedback. He has extremely dry skin during the winter and a few itchy dry patches year-round. He uses the lotion for overall moisturizing, plus a prescription cortisone cream on the dry spots. He says Eucerin helps more than any lotion he has ever used. He now swears by it and won't use anything else. (Personally, I think it smells odd and is too oily. I actually bought it by accident when I meant to buy Curel.)
Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Summer Fruit
RedNailz 11/27/2012 9:32:00 AM
I tried this lip balm because I liked the packaging and the shape. As another reviewer pointed out, you can find this really easily in your purse. The trouble is, it turns out that I like a cylindrical balm better. Still, I would have kept using it if I thought it worked well. It doesn't. It doesn't dry my lips but it doesn't help them either. I get more moisture out of a Lip Smacker.
I picked out this color for a pedicure at a nail place. The technician tried applying it, said she wasn't happy with the finish, and started over again. The second time she said it was just too watery and streaky so I picked something else. I would wonder about the technician's skill but the final pedicure and manicure were well done (excellent coverage in 2 coats). So the blame goes on OPI for this one. Horrible!
Bath Treatments -LUSH - Dragon's Egg Bath Ballistic
RedNailz 5/26/2012 10:37:00 PM
My husband gives me a box of LUSH bath bombs for Christmas every year. I usually have no idea what each one will do, so that makes them even more fun. Dragon's Egg was a complete surprise! I liked the foam and the glitter and the incredible bubbles I got when I turned on the jets. The only downside is that the glitter gets everywhere - the tub , the bath mat, the floor, the towel.
Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lucas' Papaw Ointment

When I was visiting Australia, my face got flaky from the sunscreen I was using. I went looking for a basic face cream and was quickly reminded that things can be significantly more expensive in Oz. Then I saw a tube of Lucas Papaw Ointment, which I had heard of via MUA. It was a decent price and I thought it would be fun to try. I tried it that night and my face improved greatly. I applied it a few other nights and it completely cleared up the flakes, even as I continued to wear sunscreen. Not only that, but it also healed a spot I had. It was a red mark left after a pimple and it got sort of angry from the sun. The ointment cleared it up completely. Since then I've used it for similar marks and it has reduced the redness.
Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Degree Ultra Clear Deodorant

While this works ok as an antiperspirant, I cannot believe they can claim "no white marks"! Absolutely untrue!
I tried these for a 14-day vacation. Application wasn't difficult - I just took my time and followed the directions. Also, as other reviewers advised, I avoided stretching the strips whenever possible. I did not use top coat, at least not right away. So, without a top coat I got about 4 days of wear with absolutely no chips. After that, I had a small chips on one index finger and middle finger. I used top coat on those nails to keep the chips from getting worse. By about day 7, polish on both thumbs had cracked noticeably. Then the chipping started from the cuticle area. This did what I wanted it to do - protect my nails during vacation - but I wouldn't repurchase for everyday use based on the price and the lack of classic colors.
I bought this because it's cheaper than the other dry shampoo I've tried. I've used it to skip washing and blow drying for one day. I actually like the scent and the initial results. It perks up flat hair and gives it more texture. But by the end of the day, my hair feels gritty, dirtier than if I had done nothing to it at all. The worst part is the overspray. Even when I rinse the nozzle after use, it gets partially clogged and doesn't spray evenly. I end up with white dots of dry shampoo everywhere.
This was an impulse buy. I was just looking at the display and the SA came over and offered to show me how Buffy works. I said ok because my friend had been sidelined by the other SA. I didn't really expect to have my arm washed but I had to admit that Buffy moisturized very well. Somehow, after someone washes your arm you feel like you need to buy something, so I got the $9 bar. I just tried it on my legs this morning and, hours later, they are still super smooth. I expect Buffy to be a lifesaver in the winter!
Lotions/ Creams -Neal's Yard - Frankincense Toning Body Cream
RedNailz 4/26/2011 3:41:00 PM
This is a thick, rich cream that moisturizes well and keeps skin soft. I didn't buy it for 'toning,' which is good because it doesn't seem to have any firming effect. The scent is distinctive, much like other Neal's Yard products, but it fades quickly. I love the texture and the results....but I won't repurchase due to the price. It was about $55 US, plus shipping.
Moisturizers -First Aid Beauty - Ultra Repair Cream
RedNailz 12/5/2010 4:18:00 PM
I just bought this after using the sample from Sephora for a few weeks. It is exactly what I needed to combat dry patches that I sometimes get on my face during the winter. What I love about this is that I can use it during the day because it soaks in and isn't sticky or greasy. It's also gentle and doesn't give me red blotches like traditional heavy moisturizers. UPDATE: This is now a body moisturizer for me! I tried it on my face this year and it burns, so I will not repurchase.
Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Aquaphor Healing Ointment
RedNailz 12/3/2010 1:56:00 PM
This is Vaseline lite. The texture is better and I like that it is in a tube but Vaseline would be the same for me. I use it only as a skin protectant on my face when I walk my dogs in the winter. It's too greasy to use any other time. UPDATE: To be fair, I had to come back and say I will repurchase this. DH started using it for his severely dry hands and says it is great. The tube is almost gone !
