Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Argan oil
Missy 4/10/2013 3:14:00 PM
My skin hates argan oil. I have sensitive, oily, acne-prone skin that does pretty well with both coconut and mineral oil. I was looking for something that was a little lighter for day use and thought this might work. It felt nice enough, light and fluid, sunk in nicely and didn't make me feel like an oil slick. During the day, however, it starts making my skin feel "suffocated" and gives me painful whiteheads and clogged pores. This definitely doesn't work for me.

Cleansers -Nuance by Salma Hayek - Oxygen Activated Foaming Face Wash
Missy 2/17/2013 3:24:00 PM
I so wanted to love this after reading all the great reviews. Sadly, this cleanser was horrible on my skin. It was the most fun I've had, I think, ever washing my face. One little squirt and you get insane foaming action. It cleans makeup off very well and leaves the skin feeling clean. For me, however, my skin became red, itchy and irritated as well, leading to small clusters of breakouts. To be fair, I have very sensitive, allergy-prone skin. Most people won't react the way I did, but I just wanted to throw my opinion out there for those with my skin type. All in all, I say it's worth a try just for the wonderful foaming experience!

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Megalast liquid lipstick (ALL)
Missy 2/15/2013 9:34:00 PM
I purchased this in the shade "Iris I Was Rich", which is a gorgeous pinky-brown shade. It applies smoothly and evenly and looks fabulous for about 10 minutes. Then it starts sucking every bit of moisture out of your lips, even if you apply lip balm underneath and constantly on top. My husband even commented that it made my lips look really dry, and he never notices my makeup! It's a shame because this color is soooo pretty. I just hate the formula. =(

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for Combination to Oily Skin
Missy 2/11/2013 11:16:00 PM
I LOVED the way this looked when I first applied it. It has very good coverage with little effort. It didn't feel greasy and my face actually looked great even without setting powder. I set it anyway, out of habit, but I could've gotten away without it. During the day, it started looking particularly greasy and it started oxidizing. By the end of the day, it looked orange and very uneven. My face also started developing small, painful bumps. They weren't whiteheads, but were more like painful papules. I used it for 2 days and my skin rejected it fiercely. This is definitely not for me.

Lotions/ Creams -Cerave - Moisturizing Cream
Missy 2/5/2013 6:02:00 PM
This cream has saved my skin on more than one occasion. My doctor recommended it to me when I was having a particularly bad eczema breakout. She told me to wash with a mild cleanser, wait 20 minutes and then apply. At the same time, she also gave me a prescription for a steroid, which I always have bad reactions to. They clear up my rashes, but then always end up irritating my skin. To my delight, I didn't even have to use the steroid this time! The Cerave sorted it all out within 2 days! I can also use this on my very sensitive, acne-prone, allergy-prone, eczema-prone facial skin! I wait for a few minutes until my skin normalizes after washing and apply it very gently. It makes my skin feel incredible! I do find that, if I apply it right after washing, my skin gets a bit irritated. Weird. Anyway, I'm delighted with this product, even though I can't seem to use any of the other Cerave products. I think this is the only one that doesn't contain niacinamide and I believe me skin just doesn't like that ingredient.

Foundations -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
Missy 2/5/2013 1:49:00 AM
Wow, am I even using the same product? I can't believe all of these positive reviews! LOL My experience with this foundation was much different than most other reviewers. I chose shade 805, which actually looked like a decent shade indoors. However, as soon as I stepped outside and checked a mirror, I was horrified to see that it was a very unnatural pink shade. Strike 1. The second shade up looked too dark, so I resorted to just trying to use this anyway. Half a pump is all you need for your entire face. A full pump is WAY too much. The coverage, from afar, looks nice and even, but it looks terrible up close. The texture is dry and accentuates any dryness you have (and I have oily skin!) and makes your skin just look older. Strike 2. I wore this for 2 days and decided to return it. I usually give a foundation at least a week, but the deal-breaker for me (Strike 3) was the fact that it broke me out. When I removed it at night, I had patches of little red bumps and clusters of brand new whiteheads all over my skin. My skin is now SO irritated from this foundation that I don't think I'll even be able to wear makeup tomorrow. Oh well, too bad. I was very curious about this and at least now I know it isn't for me.

Concealers -Silk Naturals - Cream Concealer
Missy 1/12/2013 2:44:00 PM
I LOVE this concealer! The shade "Fair" seems like it was made just for me. It matches my skin perfectly. It is very opaque and covers beautifully with a very smooth consistency. I use a fine tipped brush to apply exactly where I need it and it stays put for the entire day. I can also use it around my eye area without it drying the skin there. This is definitely a HG item for me and I hope Silk Naturals always makes it!

Conditioner -Carol's Daughter - Monoi repairing conditioner
Missy 1/3/2013 5:21:00 PM
I find this way too heavy and rich for my fine hair that is prone to the "oilies", but on my daughter's super dry hair, it is AMAZING. We've tried all sorts of conditioners, leave-ins and oils. They all either don't moisturize enough or are too heavy. This conditioner moisturizes nicely, keeps her frizz under control and smells HEAVENLY. I can't stop smelling her hair after we condition it! We're trying to find this fragrance as a perfume as now!

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole Fresh Wear
Missy 12/24/2012 11:39:00 PM
I have no idea how this could ever be considered a tinted moisturizer. It's so opaque and cakey looking on me. It starts off looking semi-decent, but deteriorates quickly, making my skin look oddly "glisteny", yet also managing to dry it out. At the end of a day wearing this, my skin is completely irritated, itchy and just plain gross looking. I also developed lots of new clogged pores from it, so this definitely didn't work for me. Just for reference, I have very pale, allergy-prone skin, so if you're like me, I'd stay far away from this stuff!

Crème -Revlon - PhotoReady Compact Makeup
Missy 12/23/2012 12:35:00 AM
The lightest shade, Vanilla 100, was a great match for my super pale skin. I applied it in a stippling manner with a flat-top brush and achieved lovely, natural-looking coverage. It didn't last, though. It started looking caky and oily very soon after applying. At the end of the day when I removed it, I had some freshly clogged pores and whiteheads to deal with. Another junk product from Revlon.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Homemade Vitamin C Serum
Missy 12/19/2012 2:35:00 PM
Ugghh.....This was the beginning of the end for my skin, meaning it turned my skin into a total hot mess for weeks on end. I made a 10% solution. The first day I used it, my skin turned a bit red, but nothing major. After the second day, my skin was a bit sensitive. Each day I used it, my skin became progressively worse. Even after I stopped using it after a few days, my skin became more and more sensitive and broke out in a painful rash with hives all over my face. Nothing I use can calm the irritation. This was the worst reaction I've had in quite a long time. At least I know now that my skin HATES Vitamin C in large doses.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
Missy 12/14/2012 11:58:00 PM
Darn it! I really wish this would work for me! This is my second attempt at using this moisturizer, as the good reviews are hard to ignore. The first time I tried it, I used it for only a couple of days and promptly returned it because my skin seemed to react badly. During my most recent attempt, I actually got through half of a bottle before finally giving up. No matter what, it just seems to irritate and clog up my skin. Even though it feels so cool and refreshing going on my skin, I find that it makes me much oilier than normal and makes my skin look constantly irritated. I guess this just isn't for me.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
Missy 12/6/2012 11:26:00 PM
I received a small tube of this as a GWP. I don't generally purchase mid to high-end mascara because, in my experience, drugstore mascara is just as good. Having said that, I would actually consider purchasing this after my sample tube is gone. It is beautiful! It applies so smoothly and doesn't clump or flake all day. No raccoon eyes at the end of the day and no fading either. It also doesn't make my eyes sting and itch like a lot of others do. So, I'm pretty impressed and I have to say this is my new favorite mascara! Yay!

Moisturizers -Garnier - Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream
Missy 11/27/2012 2:00:00 PM
My skin is still recovering from the mess this stuff made. It broke me out in large, painful whiteheads, something I haven't experienced in a long time. My skin is combo-oily, sensitive, clog-prone. I was looking for a light moisturizer for the colder months and thought this would fit the bill, especially after reading so many positive reviews. It felt very nice going on, smooth and easy to spread. It had a light, tolerable fragrance. Sadly, it made my skin super oily throughout the day. No matter how little or how much I applied, I always ended up with an oily, zitty mess by the end of the day. I tried it for almost two weeks, but never could get it to cooperate with my skin. Back it goes!

Other -Unlisted Brand - Nature's Gate Natural Toothpaste
Missy 11/26/2012 10:46:00 PM
A few months ago, I picked up a tube of this at a natural health food store. I kept hearing things about flouride poisoning our bodies and our teeth not actually needing it to be healthy, blah, blah, blah. My son continued using our regular Colgate Total and my daughter used this new flouride-free toothpaste (because she has trouble with spitting and not swallowing when she brushes) for 5 months. This morning, both my children went to the dentist for their bi-annual check-ups. My son had ZERO cavities, as always. My daughter, on the other hand, had FIVE. She's always had perfect teeth before switching toothpastes and I am SO angry at this company for ruining them. For the sake of yours and your children's teeth, do NOT use a flouride-free toothpaste! It will ruin them!
