Crème -Unlisted Brand - Natural Glamour Creme Foundation
rated 5 of 5

This is an Australian product and seems to be made for Australian conditions. Beautifully presented in a blue case with the sponge in a seperate compartment underneath. The foundation is a solid creamy texture which you can apply with a dry sponge for heavier coverage or damp for sheer coverage. I applied it with a dry sponge and the finish was dewy and lovely and the coverage was very even and flawless. This foundation has an SPF of 30+ which is essential in Australia, but always worries me because high SPF foundations often go greasy after a few hours. This one does not! It is a very high quality foundation, but as it is $39.95 (Aus), you would expect it to be! I chose the lightest shade (there are only 3 shades to choose from) and it was very pale. Ladies who wear ivory or porcelain tones would appreciate this shade. I haven't been able to test the SPF properly because it is winter in Australia at the moment, but ours laws are fairly strict about SPF labelling, so I would have to assume that it works!

Fragrances -Tabu - Tabu by Dana cologne splash
rated 4 of 5
BBrazilian 6/8/2011 4:51:00 PM

Until recently I associated this fragrance with little old ladies. I purchased it on a whim because I needed a body lotion and the perfume was side benefit with the purchase. The whole package was dirt cheap so I wasn't expecting anything much, in fact, I was expecting to get a cheap body lotion and a throw away perfume. WRONG! I now understand why this fragrance has been around so long! It needs a light touch when applying because it is a powerful, heady perfume that lasts all day. People have never commented on my perfume before, despite the fact that I usually wear the more expensive ones. Well they did with Tabu and it was all complimentary. The funniest thing is that men really liked it. They were the ones making the comments. Even making my morning cuppa at work I had a couple of the men say how nice my perfume smelled. Anyway, if you are going to wear Tabu, apply it lightly. I will definitely be wearing this more often. I felt really girly wearing this and I felt the reactions from other people spoke volumes about how nice this fragrance really is!

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Curious by Britney Spears
rated 5 of 5
BBrazilian 5/20/2011 11:16:00 PM

I was originally given a bottle of this as a gift when it first came on the market. I truly expected it to be horrible because it was a "celebrity" fragrance and it was the first by Britney. Up until that point, I was devoted to Eau Dynamissante by Clarins along with a couple of other high end fragrances. I absolutely love this perfume. I wont try to describe the smell as I am hopeless at that! It is very subtle and not overpowering which is very important to me as I cannot stand strong perfume. It also lasts all day on me. Interestingly enough, I do not like any of the other fragrances by Britney. They all seem very "lolly" like to me whereas Curious is sophisticated. In Australia, fragrances are quite inexpensive, but that may be because our dollar is stronger than the US dollar at the moment. I can pick up a decent sized bottle for anywhere between $19 - $30. Last time I purchased a gift set which included body wash and body mousse along with the perfume for $35.

Concealers -Maybelline - Cover Stick
rated 4 of 5
BBrazilian 5/10/2011 3:57:00 AM

Ok girls, I think a makeup lesson is needed here. The best way to apply this concealer is with a damp sea sponge. Apply the concealer similar to drawing with a crayon on your skin around the eyes (gently). Then you get a sea sponge and wring it until it is just slightly damp. Blend concealer until you a lovely smooth effect. If you are concealing on the cheeks, I usually apply in the same manner and then dab and blend with my finger or a concealer brush to get the desired result. It also helps to first apply moisturiser before using this particular concealer as it is definitely one of the drier ones.

Crème -TheBalm - Time Balm Foundation
rated 4 of 5
BBrazilian 4/22/2011 6:13:00 PM

I fell in love with their tinted moisturiser, so that made me want to try their foundation. I was not going to go back to foundation as I found most of them just look really unnatural compared to a good tinted moisturiser. Anyway, I looked around at a few tutorials on how to apply the product properly because it is quite a strange foundation. It comes in a screw top container and is a very solid cream foundation. The consistency is like hard butter. I chose the color "light" which turned out to be perfect for me. As with most of The Balm foundations, it is a yellow based foundation. I applied it by spraying a cellulose sponge with water and then rubbing across the foundation. You only need the smallest amount of foundation to get a really great coverage. I used the normal technique of starting at the nose and blending outwards in small strokes. The finish is really dewy and natural. In outdoor lighting, it is a flattering finish and does not give that cracked, horrible look that you see with a lot of foundations. I am very, very impressed with this foundation. I took off a star because of the packaging. It's a bit ordinary, but that's just nitpicking really because the product is fantastic!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Line Stiletto liquid eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
BBrazilian 1/18/2011 12:46:00 AM

I bought this because I ran out of my Loreal Super Liner and it has an identical tip. To be completely honest, I was not expecting to like it. I really expected this to be another throw away. How absolutely wrong I was! This is every bit as good as the Loreal product and is far easier to buy as you can get it just about everwhere! I purchased it in black and the colour is deep and rich and stays on all day without moving an inch. This is my new liquid eyeliner and that is really saying something because I swore I would never use anything other than Loreal ever again! The secret to this eyeliner is the tip, it's idiot proof!

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Waterproof Eyeliner Pen
rated 1 of 5
BBrazilian 12/27/2010 9:18:00 PM

I liked the design of this pen. Very easy to use, but that is where the good points end! The contents dry out within a couple of uses of this eyeliner. The first time I used it, I got quite a nice deep colour. However a few hours later, part of the line was fading off and what was left looked terrible. Wanting to give this item a fair go, I tried it again the next day and found that the pen did not draw as well as the previous day (it had dried out) and the staying power was no better than the previous day either. A cheap product that behaves like a cheap product. Don't waste your money!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Length
rated 1 of 5
BBrazilian 12/17/2010 8:25:00 PM

I really hate it when a product does not do what it is meant to!!!! This is a crappy product. It hardly even coats your lashes, let alone lengthen them. Don't get me wrong, I was already using Volume Exact before I tried this, and that is a FABULOUS mascara, so I don't have a problem with Covergirl. I just don't understand how they got it so right with Volume Exact and so wrong with this one. I purchased it in Very Black (as I usually do) and it cost me $18 Australian, so it wasn't overly cheap for a supermarket mascara. It took about 4 coats to even get decent coverage and this was not even that great! As for length, forget it. Volume Exact gave me better length and volume and an overall much better look. To sum it all up, this mascara sucks!!!!!!

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Super Liner
rated 5 of 5
BBrazilian 12/17/2010 8:16:00 PM

Love, Love, Love this eyeliner! Loreal cannot be beaten for the quality of their liquid eyeliners. I have this in silver/black. The sales assistant recommended I try this colour rather than just basic black which is what I usually buy. I am so glad I did because it still gives a great deep black line, but it also has a great metallic shimmer to it which adds a little something extra. The ease of application is what draws me back to these eyeliners. They are absolutely idiot proof and they seem to last forever without drying out. My last one lasted for months. If they ever discontinue this product, I am going to have to kill myself!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Line Definer Liquid - Black
rated 2 of 5
BBrazilian 12/16/2010 8:14:00 PM

This is a very ordinary eyeliner. It is difficult to get a decent amount of product onto your skin without really pulling hard on the skin. I had to put a few coats on which is ridiculous for a liquid eyeliner. The only reason I purchased this was because my Loreal liquid liner ran out and I got caught short. I purchased it in Black, so you would think I could get a decent depth of colour out of it, but it is more a greyish colour. Even when you apply further coats, you never really get a decent deep black. After a few hours, I found it was flaking off anyway. These types of liquid eyeliners also seem to dry out very quickly. Very disappointed with this product and a compete waste of money.

Tinted Moisturizer -TheBalm - BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
BBrazilian 12/10/2010 6:46:00 PM

Those of us who wear tinted moisturiser are usually looking for a product that moisturises. That is the first requirement and this product definitely delivers. The colour range isn't great, but I chose "light" and found it to be a great match for my skin. It's a yellow based foundation and very flattering. I apply this with my fingers and it blends completely. I usually apply my foundations with a sponge and have to blend quite a bit to get an even finish. With Balm Shelter, I can apply with my fingers and this blends like a dream! The coverage is medium to light, but it is definitely buildable. The result is dewy and lovely. The SPF18 sunscreen works. I have been very fortunate to find two fantastic tinted moisturisers in the last few weeks, one was Clarins Super Restorative Tinted Cream and the other was Balm Shelter. Balm Shelter is much cheaper and does a comparable job! I just wish I could find it in Australia rather than having to order it online! Will definitely order it again. This will probably be my HG foundation from now on. Edited 20/02/11 Strawberrynet have just added "light" to its online store so I can purchse this product for $17.00 Australian! This is sooooooo cheap!

Tinted Moisturizer -Clarins - Super Restorative Tinted Cream SPF 20 - Sand
rated 5 of 5
BBrazilian 12/2/2010 8:09:00 PM

In order to really be able to rate this item properly, I have been wearing it now for 2 weeks. I wanted to be able to rate it for its moisturising properties as well as its sunscreen. We are right at the start of summer in Australia and the temperature in Melbourne has been hot and really humid. I chose "Sand" which is probably slightly darker than my skin tone, but seems to suit me really well. I can use my fingers to apply this as it genuinely applies like a moisturiser and it works like a moisturiser. You would not know that you are wearing anything as it feels so beautiful and it just makes your skin look gorgeous! It gives great colour and looks much better than any foundation that I have ever used. As a sunscreen, it is fabulous and it works! I was outside in direct sunlight for over 2 hours and only had this to protect my face and I did not burn. Anyone who knows about the Australian sun will know that 2 hours in our sun without adequate sunscreen will just about put you in hospital on a hot day. People have been commenting on how great my skin looks and a couple have even asked me how I got my skin looking so good! Now for a couple of bad points. The pump on my tube went after 3 applications. I contacted Strawberrynet and they agreed to replace it which was very good of them. In the meantime, I removed the contents and placed them in another container as this product is too good to throw away. The only other issue is the price - very expensive! I got it on Strawberrynet on special for $41 Australian and a little goes a long way, but it is usually $105. I would definitely purchase again as I think a tube will probably last a couple of months, but even so, it's very expensive.

Concealers -Rimmel - Hide the Blemish
rated 4 of 5
BBrazilian 10/29/2010 9:26:00 PM

Can I give some advice to the ladies who find it cakey for the undereye area. I always apply stick concealers with a damp sea sponge. It is much better for the delicate under eye area anyway and the make up goes on smooth. I draw the concealer on and even put some on the lid area as a base for my eye make up. You then wet your sea sponge and wring it so that it is just slightly damp. Blend the concealer until you have the look that you need.

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub
rated 5 of 5
BBrazilian 10/29/2010 7:36:00 PM

This is such an interesting scrub. When you first feel it, you think it's going to be really harsh. I first used it about 10-15 years ago after purchasing it in the supermarket. I initially thought it was for the body only, but I used it on my face as well. Anyway, it really felt like I was getting a great exfoliation all over and it wasn't one bit irritating afterwards. When I applied my face and body moisturiser after my shower, my skin felt like silk! St Ives are a very cheap brand, but they seem to produce the most amazing products. This scrub is without a doubt, the best on the market.

Mascara -Maybelline - INTENSE XXL mascara
rated 4 of 5
BBrazilian 10/23/2010 9:23:00 PM

Very surprised by the low rating for this. I find this to be an excellent mascara. Very easy to use with a sensible sized brush. Primer goes on really nicely and the mascara makes my lashes look really luscious. My main concern with mascara is whether it will last the day without smearing or flaking. This one definitely stays put and yet it comes off quite easily at the end of the day with my foaming cleanser. Very impressed and I would definitely buy it again.
