Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Eye Pencil - black navy
ziebam 6/13/2013 7:04:00 PM
I like to think I'm an expert with eyeliners. I try them lower lash line and inner rim, with and without concealer and with and without mascara. That way if a product smears, I know it's the liner. I've also tested ALOT. That being said, this eyeliner is a horrid smudge mess! Talk about raccoon eyes. I want a liner to last all day. This was smudging within a few hours and I wasn't even outside or exercising. Sitting around in air conditioning and this smeared everywhere. Truly awful and I can't wait to get my $ back. This pencil From bb is supposed to be the pencil form of the gel and it is NOT! I will stick to the pot any day. Black navy was a rich deep true navy, very pretty color and I like that u could see the actual navy. Also soft and easy to apply With no tugging. But at $24 and a smudgy mess, skip this product.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Stylo Eyeshadow in Moon River
ziebam 6/12/2013 8:40:00 PM
At $34 this is a pricy stick eyeshadow. Most department store brands seem to max out at $28, so leave it to Chanel to amp it up. Moonstone is a shimmery glittery midrange taupe. Really a great every day taupe color. Problem is its GLITTERY. I didn't have a fall out problem. It lasted all day 12 plus hours with no fading or creasing. It goes on cool to the touch like a lightweight cooling gel. I like this but prefer my mally taupe eyeshadow stick to this one.

Self Tanners -St.Tropez - St.Tropez Tinted Self Tanning Mousse/Whipped Bronze
ziebam 6/14/2012 11:50:00 AM
This is my latest HG in self tanners. I used to love the Clarins but this has it beat. Let me preface that claim by mentioning that I hate self tanner smell and this does not have it. Best smelling self tanner I have ever used. Also dries quickly and does not come off on your sheets! This retails for $36.50 on QVC with the mitt for an 8 oz bottle. Its kinda pricey but I think its worth it. The application mitt makes it super easy to apply and streak free. The foam is light and spreads evenly. Leaves you with a nice light tan. I wish the initial tan was a little darker but you can get it with a few rounds.

Self Tanners -Tarte - Maracuja Self Tanner
ziebam 6/14/2012 11:44:00 AM
This is not a bad self tanner. i would actually use this if I had not fallen in love with the St Tropez Self Tanning Bronzing Mousse. I got a sample of this from QVC with my last TSV purshase. It retails for $36 on QVC with the mitt. It had a nice light scent and is a dark brown gel like cream that applies smoothly with the mitt. Gave a nice color that wasnt too orange. THe reason i wouldnt repurchase is the scent. They claimed that this did not have the same self tanner scent. And it didnt going on... but a couple hours later and it totally had that self tanner smell that i hate. But i did like the color. I got a little bit darker color than the St Tropez but i still prefer St tropez for overall ease of use and lack of scent. But this may not be a bad alternative for those who dont mind the scent and want a darker color.

Eyeliner -Mally Beauty - Evercolor Waterproof Automatic Eyeliner
ziebam 6/14/2012 11:27:00 AM
These are just okay. I honestly think all Mally's eyeliners are the same and she just repackages them with a new name every year. I have her original automatic liners, her evercolor Starlight Waterproof liners in pencil form, and her latest eye liner in pencil form that doesnt have a particular name other than color. They all wear the exact same! Last quite well on top lash line and average on bottom. Do not last on the inner rim, waterproof or not. They are nice and creamy and glide on without tugging and have a nice amount of pigment. I have this liner in plum and black cherry. Two purples with the black cherry being a little darker. I would not purchase these separately but i dont mind them if i get them in a kit. Not HG!

Eye Shadow -Mally Beauty - long wearing shadow stick
ziebam 6/14/2012 11:18:00 AM
I love this product. Its pricey at $25 each stick, but you can usually get them in kits at QVC for less. It is like the old shadow sticks from Bobbi Brown that were discontinued. The stick makes application quick and easy and it lasts all day. I always take them on vacation because they last and you dont have to worry about them breaking or needing brushes. Just apply and smudge with your finger. i have almost all the colors, and while some are similiar, they are all still nice. Dusk-shimmery taupe with a purple undertone Angel Shimmer- soft pink shimmer Champagne-soft beige/champage shimmer Copper Rose-shimmery pink gold Topaz-shimmery copper Bronze-shimmery copper pink, a little deeper than copper rose Violet-shimmery medium purple with blue undertone Taupe-shimmery true taupe- love this one! Trailblazing Brown- brown with only hint of shimmer, no red undertones Saddle shimmer-shimmery light brown, close to Taupe with more golden tones to it Twilight- shimmery taupe almost identical to Taupe but a shade lighter Green-shimmery emerald green Plum- dark purple with a little shimmer Platinum- shimmery silver Nautical- dark navy blue with a little shimmer

Palettes -LORAC - Box Office Sensation
ziebam 11/10/2010 6:17:00 PM
I have to say that overall, this kit is nice but I am returning it. This product as 36 eyeshadows, nine lip glosses, three blushes, and one bronzer. Overall, the kit is better quality than a lot of brands big holiday products. But the shadows still arent as good a quality as the normal individual shadows. They also have alot of glittery flyaway shadows which i hate. They have four trays off shadows, nuetrals, browns, blues and purples. Pretty much every shade you will need. But nothing is overly unique or a must have. the glosses are very dry, not moisturizing at all and the blushes are nice but not as pigmented as the bronzer. I really hate the packaging. Its hard to get the kit to stay propped open on the page you need. Overall, if you wanted to buy someone a big kit, i would recommend it. Way better quality than the holiday smashbox or sephora kit. But for makeup crazy girls, this kit will be below our critical expectations! Retails for $56.

Eyeliner -MAC - Superslick Liquid Liner
ziebam 9/7/2010 4:06:00 PM
This liquid liners came out in August 2010 with the Fabulous Felines collection. Retailing at $17.50 each, you get a choice of 9 very stunning shades in a super easy to use marker/ type pen. Easy to put on and get a great line. Downside.... The product flakes off in chunks, and smudges. So much for a lasting liquid liner. I picked up Definately feline, a dark brown with a metallic hint to it that really doesnt show up on the eyes, Desires and Devices, a olivey shade that also doesnt really show the olive color on the lid, and Treat Me Nice, a bright true green. I returned the olive and brown. Too similiar to other things and the quality is just isnt there. Kept the bright green since the color is different but overall this formula is a miss for me.

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Soft Focus Powder Eyeliner
ziebam 9/7/2010 3:57:00 PM
I haven't written a review in a long time, but this product is so bad that i had to warn others. Smashbox introduced this new product in August 2010. Smashbox lists this as: This innovative powder eyeliner creates a soft-focus line that never looks harsh or severe. Who is it for: All women looking to achieve softer definition from their eyeliner. If you've used eye shadow to achieve this look in the past, but have been disappointed by the application (flaking or fading throughout the day), this is the liner you'll want to reach for. Why is it different: So often, we want subtle definition at the lash line instead of the dense line you get from a traditional eyeliner. This powder liner allows you to achieve definition to make your eye color and eye shape stand out, but because the powder allows for a more smoldering effect, it's the eyeliner of choice for casual days or softer evenings out. You can't achieve this look with the traditional waxy crayon pencil. The powder formula is truly unique! How do I use it: Using the wand, gently glide the powder beginning at the outer corner of your top, bottom, or both lash lines. Simply drag the liner across your lashes until you've achieved the desired depth and shape. This formula can also be applied thicker along the top lash line, over a base shadow for smoky results. From smashbox. •Includes 0.025 oz eyeliner in Charcoal, a black with metallic shade •Made in Germany". Well, first off, when you tap this is still drops down all over your face and is a pain to take off. i do have to admit application is easy, it just glides on for a very perfect line that isnt too thick or too thin. But the rest of your face is still a mess! THe color is described as metallic?? No flat soft black. THats it. The worst part if this product is that it doesnt last at all. by mid day i had raccoon eyes and looked awful!. Retails for $22, skip this product its a mess and doesnt live up to the hype!

Palettes -Cargo - The Runway Palette
ziebam 8/28/2009 3:13:00 PM
I saw this and had to have it sight unseen. Well, i think i jumped the gun a little bit. Sephora.com says this product is:
This kit was created to make applying Fall 2009's hottest runway looks easy and fun. The season's color palette allows for endless combinations with the smoky gray eyes, bronzed nude cheeks, and pops of vibrant eye color. Complete with a smoky-gray eye palette, six runway-inspired eyeshadow shades, three silky powder blushes, and a best-selling bronzer, you'll be on your way to creating your own custom, vibrant fall looks in no time.
This set contains:
- Essential Palette in Gray
- Blush in Big Easy, Rome, and Topeka
- Medium Bronzer
- 6 Button Eye Shadows in Emerald Green, Charcoal Blue, Shimmering Green-Gold, Golden Brown, Dusk Blue, Matte Purple
What else you need to know:
Each blush and bronzer is embossed with whimsical, garment-inspired button motifs while the shadows are reminiscent of buttons.
When i bought it i didnt realize the blushes were ones i already owned. I also didnt realize the palette itself is HUGE! I thought it was just the display and each piece would be loose. THis is ridiculously large and cumbersome to use. I feel like I am working with a notebook.
other than that, products are top quality. PIgmented and last all day. I would recommend if you dont have any of the products. Retails for $49.

Eyeliner -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lashliner in Sequins
ziebam 8/28/2009 3:08:00 PM
This is a somewhat mixed review. Not sure what to think. I picked this up thinking it was an eyeliner. Low and behold its a lash conditioner AND lash liner. Here is what sephora.com says:
Lash addicts beware: Buxom Lashliner is highly habit-forming. This may look like just a liner, but it's also a thickening and conditioning treatment that instantly takes the appearance of your lashes from hardly any to very many. This mineral-rich, paraben-free, whipped gel formula glides on like a liquid liner and dries to a long-wearing smudge proof eyeliner. The formula is made with natural ingredients, including vitamins A, C, and E; Honeysuckle; Jojoba Oil; Soy Protein; Tourmaline; and Biotin (vitamin B), which support healthy lashes. In one fluid stroke, you can fill in the base of your lashes—making them appear lusciously longer and fuller. This product is ophthalmologist tested and safe for contact lens wearers.
What this product is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Phthalates
Well, Sequins is a soft black with ultra fine silvery microglitter. It goes super smoothly, its softer than most gel liners. You can really get this between the lashes. Lasted great on top but smudged slightly on the bottom after a few hours. So i dont recommend this as a eyeliner. Now here is the strange part. Normally i try not to put alot of liner directly into the lash line area for fear of milia. i line on top. I noticed the glitter was kinda making my eyes itchy. Cant tell if its the formula or the glitter. The glitter also kinda lingered even after i took off my makeup which makes me worry is this causing milia and eyelid itchies. I love the idea of lash conditioning. but this formula is irritating me. i think i will eventually try the straight black shade and check out if its really conditioning, but this one is going back. retails for $15.

Eyeliner -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Insider Eyeliner
ziebam 8/26/2009 11:21:00 AM
I am always on the lookout for a lasting inner rim liner. This product is NOT it. BE lists this liner as the perfect liner for the inner rim. I picked up the Sapphire, a jewel toned navy blue that is just short of being cobalt. Very Pretty. Comes in a automatic pencil. The color is super dark and goes on easily in the inner rim. looks beautiful on. And then you leave the house and go on about your day and look in the mirror. HORRORS. Blue eyeliner everywhere. I look like a cartoon racoon. It smudges easily and very quickly. Within 3 hours, it was everywhere but the inner rims. Huge dissapointment. Retails for $14. If it stayed on and didnt smudge everywhere i would repurchase, but its so messy, its just not worth it!
