I have to say I love this whole system. Using it at first felt a little weird and I was thinking...hmmm I don't know. At first the pods are hard to get open and clicked on but I was used to it within 2 days and is now super simple and easy. I love the whole finish the blush, foundation and highlighter gives me...I finish it off with my MUF High Definition powder and I am set for the day. Before this I was a total MM user, using laura Mercier and was the best up until Temptu.....temptu has given me the best natural yet flawless look and it does last longer through the day. I tend to get a bit oily during the day but the temptu lasts much longer before I need to touch up with a bid more HD powder and it really stays on all day until I take it off. Yesterday I ran around all day and it was humid and then came home and cleaned the house...which usually gets me nice and sweaty and my makeup still didn't look too bad and this was by evening time after all that! With my MM I would look super shiney by mid day and by the end of the day looked like makeup barely there. I am very happy with this system, only thing I wish is that the auto warranty that comes with it, which is a year would be at least two years for the price we are paying for the machine. I will continue to use this and have totally converted. Some on here say it takes too much space on a counter but I found a solution for that...I have two bathrooms and mine is in our master bedroom, so not the one visitors go into..I have all my face wash, cream magnifying mirrow all on my sink so really needed to find a place to put this baby. I just went to the doller store bought a white small shelp and up she goes while still plugged in and I put all the pods in a small plastic container which fits on the shelf...perfect for easy reach and quick put away. I LOVE THIS AND WILL BE AN AIRBRUSH MAKEUP GAL FROM NOW ON. Highly recommend it! Also, I think my face has actually improved in texture and overall appearent from using this product...less breakouts and everything. Thank you Temptu!
Moisturizers -La Mer - Creme de la mer moisturizer
whitemamacita 6/5/2009 8:13:00 PM
I have been a devot Kate Somerville user for a couple years now and really liked that line, but I have since started using Tazorac 1% for my minor acne and anti-agining. Well, if you have any been on Tazorac you know there is an initial breakout from hell! I am finally into my third month and things are subsiding. Well, my KS products didn't seem to be meshing well with the Taz. Wasn't moisturizing enough and had to apply it more than once. I have always read about La Mer and wanted to try it and am so glad I did. The application is the key to making sure this cream goes on well. Rubbing it on your hand until it is warm and liquifies and patting it into your face. I will tell you my old acne marks from the Tazorac breakout from hell are healing 3X as fast from the La Mer I am using. My skin is much softer and this is only after 2 days. I will update if things change but as of now I have converted to La Mer. And for Taz users out there you may want to try this combo and see how it works for you. The La Mer is expensive but really so many other anti-aging are now too anyway and the jar will last a long time you only need a small amount.
Ok...at first I was thinking I didn't like this mascara very much. I did like the ball applicator eventhough it does take a bit to get used to but once you do it doesn't take me hardly any time at all to do my lashes. The color is a nice thick black. I have pretty long lashes and it catches all of them nicely, better than any other. Only complaint is that it is a mascara that takes a bit of time to dry....not like half a day but not as fast as other's I have used. The applicator and the nice dark black color is great though...I will rebuy!
Mascara -Urban Decay - Lingerie & Galoshes for lashes
whitemamacita 11/1/2008 5:41:00 PM
Sorry didn't like this one and I love all my other UD products. I bought this mostly for the waterproof mascara side and it is just way to thick and sticky. It sticks my lashes together and I looke all my curl and everything. Don't like and it is going back to Sephora.
Great concealer that goes on easily and staying power is great. I will continue to use this to cover the extra that is needed and than finish it off with the mineral makeup from Urban Decay which is the bomb also!
I have found my PERFECT PINK BLUSH. This is just adorable on, gives you a glow from within, which is what I have been looking for and not able to find. The staying power is pretty good also. I will be rebuying.
I love this bronzer! It does go on very sheer and I like that. I just want something to enhance whatever color I have going on and I think this will work when you are darker in summer or lighter in winter because right now I am not super dark as in summer and it looks great. I will be using this from now on period, works perfectly and photographs awesome. The only thing is the container is a bit cheaply made IMO but I can overlook that when I like the product so much.
Foundations -Urban Decay - Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup
whitemamacita 11/1/2008 5:32:00 PM
Well I wanted to try this MM foundation makeup and it is AWESOME! I purchased it in Hallucination and the color matches great. I must say that this foundation has given me the best coverage EVER with a mineral foundation and I have tried a lot, this is the best. I have totally converted to Urban Decay line and it is working out great. I didn't break out from anything and this stuff photographs beautifully. I went out of town and took PICS and my face seemed to just glow. I also use the blush and bronzer. I have never tried using the weird puffs before with these kind of foundations but decided to with this one and I found I like it. It gives me a nice even coverage. I pat it on and than smooth it in, so I have converted from the brush to this. The price isn't horrible for MM as i have paid a lot more and got less results. I recommend!
Treatments -Kate Somerville - Micro Glycolic Polisher
whitemamacita 11/1/2008 5:26:00 PM
Well, guess I am the first one to review this product. I waited to see if anyone else tried it out yet and also I wanted to give some time to see results. I have been using it 2-3 times a little over 2 weeks. I will review the pros and cons about it from what I found. First the pump is nice IMO, it squirts out smoothly and you can have pump it to let just a little out if need be so you don't waste product. The texture is very thin and had sorta a grape smell to it or at least I thought it does. You spread it all over your face and it says to at first only leave it on a short time like 8 mins or something. I have always left it on longer because I have been using all of KS products, including the ExfoliKate for 2 years now so my skin is in pretty good shape and used to her products. What I do find is that using this with the Exfolikate in conjunction with eachother does do the face nicely. Meaning I would usually do a scrub and then do the peel maybe two days later and alternate them together. I leave the scrub and peel on a long time compared to what it says as I have built a tolerance and my face is fine with it but if you have sensitive skin, use slightly and build up, they also have a form of this polisher that is lactic I think which is not as strong. Anyway I leave this stuff on for atleast 30 mins or more. I seen a tape with KS herself on QVC about this product and she said once you get used to it you can even leave it on overnight, which I am going to try out tonight and if want add a little to your moisurizer to help exfoliate while you moisturize. I didn't see magic right after using this but since I have used it now for a little while it does seem my small 36 yo lines have flattened some more than what they were. I have a deep one between my brows and notice it there a lot. But I use all here products so I don't know if it would work as good if you just used this and another line. I personally like all her products and they have done wonders for my skin. My 17 yo daughter even uses the quench and the total moisturizer and she noticed a difference in her skin, which her skin was like heaven before anyway (gosh wish I could go back to those days). I try and teach her now early to take care of her skin as early as possible so it will pay off in the long run, my mother didn't tell me squat and I didn't start paying much attention until I was almost in middle 20's. I always get pegged for 25 or so - so I guess my skin must be holding up good, so I stress to all to start early and take care of your skin. This product is good and I recommend everyone to try it out, the only thing is I don't know if it is worth the full price you would pay in a store. I was lucky enough to score two off ebay for $40 something dollers and I bought both of them right away, so I dont' know if I will buy unless I can get them on sale or discount, will have to see if it makes a difference once i am out and not using it. But do give it a try especially is you like other KS products and just buy it from a place you can send back for refund if you don't think it did much for you. Again it did help with my fine lines, what I noticed the most but my skin was pretty darn smooth before becuase i use her whole line so I don't know if it helped with that. Her products IMO are magic. The best I have ever used so far and I have tried a lot of em. Hope this helps and sorry for blabbing for so long.
When I first got this from Sephora, I was like OOOO nice color, darker which I liked and seen the BIG CHUNKS OF GLITTER and thought well they will blend. First day used it liked it. Then after a couple days I was finding this glitter all over EVERYTHING, MY WHOLE FACE, MY WHOLE MAKEUP BAG and the blush is closed in there, all over brushes that were not blush brushes because the darn stuff spread like the flu onto everything in my makeup bag. That said, I had to take it back. Maybe it they make the glitter a little less chunky and big but kept the darker color with more smaller glitter, I don't know. I just know I loved the color at first but then the glitter explosion had to take this baby back, so will not repurchase.
Powders -Smashbox - Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder
whitemamacita 9/27/2008 8:48:00 PM
Well be fore using Halo I have used BE and I used that for a long time in my 20's and it worked pretty great, but then my skin started to change a bit and I was super oily and looked shiney with BE so I went to LM Mineral Makeup and that worked better but wasn't really in love with it but better so stuck with that. Well I watched a QVC on Halo and thought I'll give that one a try, I was nervous about what color to order as I have heard this runs dark and I am usually on the Medium side with beige and slight yellow undertones, I went with the medium and even though it looks super dark once one it works great on my skin. IMO this Powder foundation has given me the best coverage out of all I have tried, which are the above along with EM, Alima, and there was one other online small business I tried. This one gave me more coverage and a nice one that didn't shine and make me oily really fast. So for not unless something better comes along I will be using this. I do use the SB concealer to cover a couple of small marks I have and there is one scar I have on my forhead and that works great also IMO and I use the smashbox matte bronzer in the sunkissed and it works great one me, looks very naturally without all the glimmer, that was a problem I was having with items as since I am now in my 30's my skin has changed. This is also great at not setteling in the little lines that I do have. I do use the SB primer though as I like that and I set this all with MakeUp Forever High Definition powder as I love it because it is light gives you a slight dew glow without shine and leaves you skin super soft....love that powder. But I do like this and am sold on the smashbox I am using so far. I also grabbed a blush to use and so far I like it but I may take it back as I am not sure on the stayin power and I just ordered the Nars Super Orgasm and wanting to see how that works. I am always on a search for my perfect blush and yet to find it. But I like this stuff and recommend anyone to give it a try, it would be nice if they would come out with a couple more colors as I say the medium works for me but I think if they had one inbetween the light and the medium it would be even better for myself.
Brows -BeneFit Cosmetics - Instant Brow Pencil (All Colors)
whitemamacita 8/31/2008 4:08:00 PM
I am sorry but this is the WORST PENCIL I have ever used! I purchased this because I so love the speed brow gel I used and once I got it in the mail from Sephora it is terrible. First it is not a hard pencil at all - it is a creamy one, which when I read description didn't seem it was going to be that way. I have used creamy brow pencil before but this one was the WORST. I tell you when I started to use it is was super creamy and went like a flat crayon super quick and then the brow looked a mess. It is so creamy it seems it would flare out on it's own possibly without even being touched. I couldn't imagine touching your brows, you would probably have a line. Horrible Horrible formula and I can't imagine anyone finding this brow pencil good. I don't know maybe some like the super duper soft ones but doesn't work for me. I purchased this in the lighter colored one.
I have this in the only color it comes in for everyone. It looks brown in the package but goes on very clear like with a hint of color, very slight. I really like this as it holds my brows very very well and helpes them stay in place and I am sure helps keep my pencil on when I do pencil them up with a makeup day. The one and only gripe I have about this is the amount you get is so darn small. I would like a little more for the price. Also the brush on this is better than any others I have used. I will continue to use this unless something better comes along.
***UPDATE****After using one whole one of these and seeing the EXTREMELY SHORT TIME IT LASTED, and I didn't even use mine everyday. I will not purchase again for the price and the amount that it gave. I acutally went ahead and ordered another backup because another gripe is you really can't tell when it's going to be gone until it's gone so I wouldn't be put in that spot and I took that one back after this ran out so fast. REDICULOUS for the price, nice formula wears well, could work on the color a bit BUT FOR WHAT YOU GET IS A WASTE OF MONEY. This so far is my best brow pencil I have used to date! I really do like the way it goes on, the small stick with no sharpening and the staying power on me is great, doesn't come off until I want it off. The way it is made is great IMO. Love the packaging. Only gripes are one - there is not a lot of product for the amount you pay, need to be more two - I purchased this in the blonde color and it matches pretty good. Problem is I cannnot do anything with any kind of reddish hint and there is a reddish hint to this one. I know the bruenette one will be too dark for me and red is a no no. So he needs to come out with more colors to choose from and I am surprised he doesn't have a taupe color as most due - which is a neutral one that I fall into perfectly and many do. So what I do is I still have some of my anastasia brow powder left and I put just a very small amount over after I pencil and it helps balance the color out. So those are my two gripes but I will keep using it unless I find something better.
Brows -Anastasia Of Beverly Hills - Anastasia Brow Gel
whitemamacita 8/31/2008 3:43:00 PM
IMO there is nothing different to this gel being the oh so great anastasia! I purchased it and it did what most of the eyebrow gels do. I also have the Sephora brand name which is much cheaper andyou get more and they both did the same exact thing. So I won't be spending more money on this. I have tried her powder and all but to be honest I don't see anything special with those either. Just like most others IMO just cost more. Best brow pencil I have used hands down and will now be my one and only is Kevyn Aucoin. This brow pencil is perfect and the easiest to use and staying power is the best I have ever found. Also you never have sharpen it and it works great. I would recommend this one totally. My single only complaint is the color selection KA has. I purchased the one for lighter hair and I usually need one inbetween. It matches pretty well and good enough for me to keep using and the formula is so good I won't switch. Just wish he would come out with more of an inbetween Taupe color, which is perfect for myself. But this liner is awesome you have to try it I will be reviewing that one also. Also let me say I have found a brow gel I really like and it does hold better than any other brow gel I have found. It is the one by benefit called SPEED BROW. The color of it is perfect I would say for all brow shades is very subtle but it makes my brows stay perfect all day without moving or making them sticky and also doesn't flake like I have had with some other ones. Only down side to Benefit is that it is SMALL. For the price would like more but unless I find something better I will be using Benefit brow zoom.
