Cleansers -Bioderma - Sensibio H2O (aka Crealine H20 Solution micellaire)
vintagy 3/10/2013 7:43:00 PM
I was rather disappointed by this product as I expected this to take off all my face makeup easily, but it really didn't. I wear the Revlon CS and it takes 4 soaked cotton pads to get it all off, which is a lot of product and in Canada, it's $22 for a 250ml bottle which is very expensive. After some deliberation, I continued using my Neutrogena makeup wipes (which was my makeup remover before) but then I would soak one cotton pad with the Bioderma and swipe it all over my face afterwards to remove any traces of foundation left over and also the residue that the wipes leave behind. I also use this in the morning if I am too lazy to wash my face/I am in a hurry as it takes off oil and dirt too. If you use a long-wearing, full coverage foundation like Revlon CS, I would not suggest using this as your makeup remover. Also it is not very good at taking off eye makeup. It is rather pricey and does not live up to its claims, but I have grown to like the product for its cooling, pleasant sensation, to make sure there is truly no makeup left on my face, to cleanse my skin, and it doesn't break me out. I would repurchase, but I use it sparingly as I am a student and cannot afford to be constantly repurchasing this.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
vintagy 2/6/2013 7:16:00 PM
My holy grail for the past 3 years. I have repurchased this time after time, and each time I stray from it/try something new, I always end up going back to this. The colour match is amazing, the coverage and blendability is amazing, it doesn't break me out, gives me such an amazing-looking glow and complexion, and people don't even know I'm wearing makeup- it matches and blends that well. It works in all seasons, whether you're on a tropical island or in a freezing, snowy climate. At the end of the day, it will still stay put and look amazing. It dries quickly (which I love, I hate waiting for foundations to dry) to a satin finish. I prefer matte finishes so I always set this with a powder. I wear this on most days of the week. It's quite pricey for drugstore makeup where I live ($20 CAD!) but when I make trips down to the states, its half the price there so I try to stock up there, or when it goes on sale. The shade medium beige in the combination/oily formula matches me perfectly. The one thing I would change about this is the packaging: it would be much better with a pump. I can never stop raving about this foundation. If all my makeup disappeared and I could only repurchase one thing, it would be this. GO TRY IT if you haven't already!

Foundations -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
vintagy 2/6/2013 6:49:00 PM
UPDATE: It broke me out. I found out it contains Talc and silicones, which I tend to have a problem with. It's such a shame because as an oily-skinned girl, I really wanted to like this. I wore this yesterday (for the first time in weeks) and this morning I woke up with two cysts on the left side of my face. No coincidence. Original Review: Ive been a loyal user of Revlon Colorstay for quite a few years now, but after hearing all the hype about this product, I bit the bullet and bought it. The factor that sold me was that it has a matte finish. I have very oily skin, so I always prefer a matte finish over *dewy finishes*- as those will look oily on me in about 5 minutes. I love that it has a pump (that locks!), that it's almost half the price of Revlon Colorstay ($12.99 vs $20 in Canada), and yes, it does have a matte finish. I bought this in nude beige and it seems to decently match my skin tone, especially after it sets (for reference, I wear medium beige in RC). However, the coverage is not as good as RC. I'd say it's medium. I have to wear at least 2 layers of this over my trouble spots to hide imperfections. It is also more cakey and difficult to blend than RC. I use either a disposable sponge or my Sigma F80, but they both take equally as long to blend. If you don't blend enough it will look cakey, and thus it takes me longer to apply foundation as RC was more liquidy and easy to blend. Overall, I do like this foundation as it has a more matte finish and stays on better than RC, which I really need when I wear glasses which tend to slip and slide on my face. I would repurchase solely because of that factor. But on days that I wear contacts or do not require a matte finish as much, I would prefer RC as it gives me a better, fresh complexion and glow. I am also worried that it may contain silicone (which breaks me out really bad) as it has a built-in primer, but it doesn't seem to have caused any reaction so far. I have been using this foundation for only 3 days, so I will update if anything changes.

Skincare - Face -Ole Henriksen - Sheer Transformation Creme

If I were to rate this creme a few months ago, I would have given it 5 lippies. I first tried this in the Seven Skincare Sensations set back in August (it's now December) and I fell in love. I used up the entire sample size and purchased the full size. I used it day and night. Now generally, I have pretty decent skin. If I take care of it, it generally remains clear and bright. I went back to school in September and noticed that I started breaking out really badly, but in no way did I attribute it to this creme. I thought it was just hormonal acne caused by stress. So I stepped up my skincare routine, making sure to cleanse, tone and moisturize day and night, using masks every other day, even buying higher end products from a local line to try and salvage my skin. But for months, nothing worked. I started getting cystic acne (which I normally don't get), my complexion was dull and more oily and acne-ridden than normal. Then out of curiosity, 2 nights ago I was reading reviews on this creme and I had never noticed before, but in between all the raving reviews, some people had noted the high amounts of silicone in this product and that it caused them to break out. It horrified me to think that I was unknowingly sabotaging my skin for months, but I decided to put it to the test and stopped using it. It has been less than 48 hours, but now my skin is considerably clearer and brighter. My family members noted that my skin looks much better. It's starting to glow again, and it's no thanks to this moisturizer. Also it did nothing to lighten up any hyperpigmentation. I loved that the texture was so soft, light, and fluffy, but now I know that's due to the large amount of silicones in the creme. It's obscenely expensive, the packaging is unhygienic, and the nearly full jar that I have will be going in the trash.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup

The Revlon Colorstay Liquid foundation is my HG, and I had been using that for over 2 years now, so I was super excited to try this one out after hearing such good reviews. It finally came out in Canada in London Drugs for $18.99 + tax (very expensive, but I wanted to try it) Sadly I didn't like it as much as I expected... the application is easy (just apply with your fingers) and the coverage is good, a little goes a long way... BUT this does not dry like the liquid foundation does, so if you touch your face it kinda rubs off, and by the end of the day it seemed like most of it had rubbed off. It just kinda sits on your skin and doesn't really dry. I even used setting powder and it still rubbed off. So I will not use this if I'm going to be out from morning to night. But if I'll just be out for <6 hours, then it'll do the trick. I think this will last much longer than the bottle of liquid Colorstay, but I much prefer the liquid. I will not be repurchasing this.

Did not mattify my skin at all- in fact, it made it oilier. I have a very oily t-zone and am looking for something to spot treat my nose with (my HG mattifying lotion got discontinued). Quite pricey and it smells kind of funny. Will not be repurchasing.

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
vintagy 8/4/2012 5:50:00 AM
I had high hopes for this product, but unfortunately I find it way too sheer for my liking. When I put it on, it looks exactly the same as before. I have to use a lot of product and blending to build it to a light coverage. However, the shade light-medium matches my summer skin perfectly (but would be too dark for my winter skin), and I like that its moisturizing and has a SPF 30 (though I've heard the titanium oxide content is not enough to warrant a SPF 30 label), but whats the point of using this if it looks like I just put regular moisturizer on? I don't have huge issues with acne or anything, I just like something to even out my skin tone but it doesn't do even that for me.. it might be too early to say too much since I've only used it once but those are my initial impressions. Will try it out and give it a second chance, but will definitely not be repurchasing. I will go back to my Too Faced BB cream.

Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay Long-Wear Blush in Tipsy
vintagy 7/25/2012 1:50:00 AM
This is such a beautiful coral blush! Gives me a real nice glow that lasts all day (I never have to touch up), and I love pairing it with the Benefit "10" highlight/contour box. Super pigmented- a little goes a long way. Seriously. With most blushes I have to swipe it a few times to get colour payoff, but with this blush, one swipe is more than enough. I have accidentally applied too much of this before and had to cover it up with foundation, so be careful. Well worth the money because it lasts forever. I carry this in my purse's makeup bag for when I'm on the go and don't have time to apply blush at home, and I don't even bring a brush with me cause all I do is swipe it once with my finger and blend it onto my cheeks; its that pigmented. Amazing product. Will repurchase.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Mega Plush
vintagy 7/18/2012 10:45:00 PM
I gave it 4 lippies, but I really mean 3.5. It's pretty good in that it does hold a curl (I have the waterproof version), and it gives you natural-looking volume, but I like a more dramatic look with mascaras. I have stick-straight Asian lashes so I like a lot of volume and length. This just didn't have enough for me. However, I have to say that it is legitimately smudge-proof. I went to the gym with this on and at the end of my hour-long workout it stayed put and didn't smudge at all- in fact, it still looked like I just put it on. I will probably wear this to the beach, gym, and in hot climates. This mascara is great for a natural look, but if you're looking for dramatic, full lashes, I would not recommend this mascara.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Lash
vintagy 7/18/2012 10:39:00 PM
I got this in a sample size, and I have to say that I'm glad I didn't get the full size because this is probably the worst mascara I've ever tried. The formula is dry, flaky, doesn't do anything for my lashes, doesn't hold a curl at all. It looks like I didn't even apply any mascara, no matter how many coats I put on. Maybe it would work for people with naturally long, curly lashes to help define them, but it just didn't work for me at all. Into the bin it goes!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
vintagy 7/18/2012 10:35:00 PM
This mascara, when used together with my Covergirl Lashblast mascara, is my HG mascara. It gives really great volume and length, and makes my stick-straight Asian lashes look much fuller. The CG lashblast (the original volumizing formula) was my HG before I found this one because it held my curl so well, and gave me a small boost of volume. However, this mascara just brings my lashes up and out. The reason that I apply a coat of CG lashblast before the falsies is cause the falsies alone doesn't hold the curl as well. I just apply the lashblast, wait for it to dry, then give extra impact and volume with the falsies. The two of them used together is perfect for me. There is a little bit of smudging by the end of the night, but its not enough to stop me from using it. I just love what this mascara does for my lashes. Note: I use the waterproof version of both mascaras, otherwise my curl won't hold.

Foundations -Cover Girl - Natureluxe Liquid Silk Foundation
vintagy 7/16/2012 4:08:00 AM
I really like this foundation! I use it whenever I am running late and need to do my makeup routine quickly. A little product goes a long way (hence, I am okay with the small bottle) and its great coverage, and can be applied quickly and easily. Feels more like a tinted moisturizer to me than a foundation. I also wear this to work a lot, and even though I'm on my feet all day, climbing stairs and ladders, it stays put! However, past the typical 9-6 shift, it will start fading, so this isn't a 24 hours foundation or anything. It is not my HG foundation (my HG is the Revlon Colorstay), and not my first choice of foundation especially for a long day, but it will do just fine in a pinch, hence the 4 lippies. I also have to blot my t-zone with this, but I have to blot with any foundation so that isn't an issue for me. Will repurchase.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser (Normal to Oily Skin)
vintagy 7/13/2012 5:20:00 AM
Love this. Been using it for around a year now, every single day, and it keeps me fresh-faced and keeps my skin relatively clear. This actually does take off my makeup for me- a little harder when its foundation (but still works), but tinted moisturizers and BB creams come off with no problem. Pretty sure I will use this for the rest of my life- I have no desire to find something better. And I bought mine for $16 for a huge bottle which lasts me months and months on end (I've only had to replace it once so far, so I'm guessing around half a year), so its a great deal. The price could be much, much worse for other cleansers, so I'm not sure what people are complaining about. My mother and I both use this- it works for all ages.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream
vintagy 7/13/2012 5:04:00 AM
I have been using this product everyday for a week and so far, I love how cool and refreshing it feels on the skin, I love the scent, and I love how it dries (relatively) matte. However, I have a very oily t-zone with normal skin otherwise, and I was looking for a replacement for my Marcelle AC-Solution moisturizer (I use that one to spot treat only; its very drying for normal skin- and its being discontinued). With this one, I can't use it to spot treat my t-zone cause it's not nearly as mattifying, however it is suitable and moisturizing enough for the entire face. I'm using it as a night cream for the summertime, its nice and light and absorbs quickly. I also wish it came in a pump bottle instead of a tub for hygienic reasons. As for the winter, I would not use it as a night cream as I require a heavier night cream during colder seasons. If I can't find anything better I would repurchase this and use it as a day cream, but I don't like how it has no SPF in it. I know there is a SPF 15 version of this but it is not very mattifying. All in all, I do like this moisturizer, especially for the summer, and if I do not repurchase in the winter, I will definitely repurchase again next summer.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil - French Fries
vintagy 7/5/2012 2:48:00 AM
I really wanted to like this product, after seeing all the positive reviews on here. I picked it up at my local drugstore for $6.99 (I know that's expensive for NYX, everything is more expensive in Canada). When I first put it on, I was blown away by the colour- it was such a gorgeous shade of brown. But it smudged on me big time. After about 30 minutes I already looked like a train wreck- almost all the colour had transferred to my undereye area (I had used it to line my lids). I'm sure that even with primer, it would still smudge like crazy. I am so disappointed because I am in love with the colour AND it was rather expensive for NYX. ALSO, I have to add that the packaging is a mess. The product smudged all over the packaging after the 2nd time I took the lid off. It didn't look very attractive and was just very messy. As well, it comes in the plastic tube = cannot be sharpened, so you have to depot it. I know that a lot of people love this product, but it just doesn't work for my oily skin. Such a shame.
