BB Cream -Dr. Jart+ - Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45 PA+++
trixiefaux 10/19/2012 9:36:00 AM
I bought this a week ago on a whim in place of my tinted moisturizer and have been using it daily. I have only tried 2 other BB creams before this (Smashbox which was too visible on top of my skin) & Boscia which was too dark for my NW15ish skin). This stuff is amazing so far. It goes on so smoothly, sinks in, evens out my skintone, moisturizes, and provides sun protection. It's exactly what I want in a "foundation"--that no make-up look/feel. A little powder finishes it off. I have an oily t-zone and this does not make it worse as some products do. I still have to blot later in the day w/an oil absorbing sheet but that is to be expected. So far I love this.

Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - NEW Stila Sheer Color Oil-Free SPF20
trixiefaux 7/19/2012 10:16:00 PM
I have tried a million tinted moisturizers and this one has been the best for me. I had it in Bare and now use it in Fair, both shades are light but Bare is more yellow and Fair is more pink...I'm neutral and both blended in pretty well but I think Fair brightens my complexion a little. I have an oily t-zone and this lasts several hours before I need a quick touch up w/ an oil absorbing sheet. I have repurchased it several times. Every now & then I'll try a different kind, but then come back to this. It goes on smoothly, sinks in rather than sitting on top, doesn't accentuate my fine lines, just lightly evens everything out. Used with a little blush and some loose powder, it's great.

Polishes -Butter London - Lady Muck
trixiefaux 7/8/2011 10:02:00 PM
This shade is amazing! This is my first Butter nail polish and I'm so happy with it now I want to try more. Lady Muck is a soft blueish-gray with shimmer. Looks opaque and even at 2 coats. Beautiful.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Miessence

I'm surprised this works. I've tried Toms 24 hour and Hugo Naturals aluminum free deodorants and both of them left me smelling worse than if I just didn't use anything. I bought the aroma-free Miessence and am very happy with it. EDIT: Hm, it seemed to work at first...and then, didn't. I've gone back to Secret.

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)
trixiefaux 12/7/2010 9:46:00 PM
I bought this because it has a low toxicity rating of 3 on the Skin Deep website. The shade Agent 2 (facade) goes on looking too light for me at first until it is completely absorbed and then it is perfect. The fact that it goes on light is kind of helpful for application, showing me if I've covered my whole face. Some tm's tend to change color, darkening or turning orange as the day goes on. Thankfully, this does not do that. It's pretty good. I use it with MUFE Duo Mat foundation or a finishing powder on top. I have combo skin and find that it doesn't get as oily when I'm using this as with some other products. I have tried about 50 different tm's. My top 3 are Tarte Smooth Operator, MD Skincare All-In-One, and Stila Sheer Oil free SPF 20.

Moisturizers -Arcona - Magic White Ice

I was very excited to try this after reading many positive reviews. I can't get past the scent -- way too strong and not a nice one. It made me feel sick every time I used it. After the smell would wear off, my skin didn't feel or look hydrated. No good for me. I need something more moisturizing. Back to trying more new product lines.

Moisturizers -Skyn Iceland - The ANTIDOTE

This feels nice going on -- minty cool, but it is not hydrating and does nothing for my normal/combo dehydrated skin. Need more moisture from a moisturizer!

Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer
trixiefaux 4/8/2008 4:29:00 PM
This product kind of confuses me. I got a sample of it and at first I thought I didn't like it. It looked too pink/orange for my skin (the 01 shade) but I went ahead with it knowing that I was going to stay in all day. When applying it after my shower it felt way too heavy and didn't spread very well. It felt like a cream foundation going on clean skin with no moisturizer. But to my surprise, once it had settled in, it looked even and my skin looked good. I topped it off with some BE Mineral Veil and was really surprised with how my skin looked. I tried it again today and this time I spritzed my face with Shu Uemura Myrtel Depsea Water first. That did not help with the application of the tinted moisturizer yet it still looked good and felt good once applied. Weird. I have combo skin. After a whole day of wear my nose did not get shiny. I did not need my oil absorbing sheets. Somehow the color is right once it's on. It brightens my complexion. I'm giving it 3 lippies because I don't like the feel of it going on... but the results are okay.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals #1
trixiefaux 10/14/2007 5:26:00 PM
I finally tried this after trying Jane Iredale, Alima, Amazing Cosmetics, Everyday Minerals, Mineral Fusion, and Au Courant. I went to Sephora to try Laura Mercier's mineral foundation but they were out of the shade I wanted. There are so many luke warm or negative reviews here about B.E. that I was nervous to try it, especially having combo skin. I was worried about the shine factor. Anway, I needed some mineral foundation so I did try it and I was pleasantly surprised. The lightest color, Fair, works with my complexion. There is no shine, maybe a slight translucency but in a healthy, pretty way. It smooths and evens out my complexion and I haven't noticed it sitting in the fine lines or making my pores look enlarged or really any of the other complaints I've read about it. It's one of the best mineral foundations I've tried except for maybe Au Courant, but that is more expensive and I went through it too quickly. If you haven't tried it yet, you should, it just might work for you. I like Everday Minerals too in the semi-matte formulation.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Moon Fleet
trixiefaux 10/7/2007 3:04:00 PM
This is beautiful. I don't think I would have bought it if I hadn't read the rave reviews. In the tube, it looks like a muddled brown-gold. If it came out that way it would look awful on me. But, it comes out clear and sparkly (without being glittery). I'm surprised the previous reviewer said it was gritty -- it has a really smooth and soft application, the gold and silver specks are so tiny, I can't detect any grit. And I didn't have any gold flecks stick to my face. I suppose products react differently with different people.

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Ultra Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15
trixiefaux 8/28/2007 9:29:00 AM
This is a great everyday moisturizer with uv protection for under makeup. I have combo skin and it does not feel greasy in the least or make me oily. It is light and absorbs into the skin well. I like that it has no scent. Like another reviewer, I was really surprised people were calling it expensive. In the past year I went from Aveda's Tourmaline Protecting Lotion ($38 for 2.5 oz), to Comfort Zone Absolute Pearl (a honeymoon splurge at $100 for 1.6 oz), to this...a steal at $16.50 for 2.5 oz. I guess everything is relative, but that's like drugstore prices and it'll last a long time. EDIT: I just ordered this for the second time and changed from 4 to 5 lippies. It is my favorite moisturizer, the price is right, it does its job, HG.

Powder -Au Courant - Pressed Mineral Powder Foundation
trixiefaux 8/19/2007 8:55:00 PM
Thanks to Makeupalley, I've found a new product that I never heard of. I'm always looking for the best mineral foundation. I've always been a loose-powder girl, too, until now. I have been using Everyday Minerals and I was pretty happy with the Semi-Matte formulation, but never quite found the best color match and didn't like the way my face looked in the afternoon after several hours of wear. This Au Courant compact is great. First of all, less mess, I still apply it with a powder brush and it's easier to get the right amount on the brush. Second, I love the shade Blonde for my NW15 fair skin. Third, being in a compact, I can take it to work with me and easily apply a little extra here or there if I need to. I love it. It provides a nice natural looking coverage. It's fairly pricey at $35 a compact, but I think it's worth it. EDIT: I went through it too quickly to use as a regular daily foundation. It's good to keep in your purse for touch ups throughout the day...

Lipstick -NARS - TransSiberian Express
trixiefaux 5/15/2007 11:38:00 AM
Trans Siberian is the red I have chosen for my evening wedding. I've been on a quest for the perfect red and nearly gave up on red altogether until I found this. I am fair with blonde hair/blue eyes. Most other reds have been too harsh. Somehow, even though this is a deep red, it's more flattering and more subtle than the countless other reds I've tried. Oh, and it's not just the color I'm crazy about, it's long lasting and non-drying as well. I'm so happy to have found "THE ONE"!

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation - Intensive formula [DISCONTINUED]
trixiefaux 2/18/2007 5:35:00 PM
For whatever reason, this formulation looks awful on my skin, whereas the Semi Matte looks natural. Maybe it has to do with skin type? My skin is mostly normal, with a little t-zone shine. If you are going for the free samples, I'd try one of each of the formulations to see what works for you.
