Shampoo -Sally Hershberger - Normal To Thin Hair
sugarbomb 5/14/2012 4:35:00 PM
Terrible product. Left my hair looking limp, feeling heavy, and caused increased hair loss. This has never happened to me before! It was so pronounced that thought it might be a vitamin deficiency or thyroid problem, but it was only after I stopped using this shampoo that my hair returned to normal.

Lotions/ Creams -Shi Kai - Body Lotion
sugarbomb 12/9/2007 7:02:00 PM
In general, I like this product. I bought it in the Yuzu scent, and it smells delicious. The lotion itself is very light yet moisturizing; not greasy at all. If you need something really heavy duty for dry winter skin, a body butter is probably better, but I'm impressed by how effective this is for the texture. The price is quite good for how much you get in the bottle. I guess at the end of the day I just don't love this, which is why I gave it a four instead of a five.

Lip Gloss -Mary Kate and Ashley - ULTRA WET LIP GLOSS - NO WAY
sugarbomb 7/6/2007 9:18:00 PM
I admit it was a little embarrassing going into Walmart and buying an MK&A product, but this lip gloss really is great! It looks blood-red in the tube, but goes on much more naturally, giving my pigmented lips a sheer wash of wine red. It's a very healthy look, if that makes sense. As the name states, it is a very wet looking gloss, thin but not runny, and can be built up for a more dramatic look. Even my mother commented on how nice it looked, and she usually just rolls her eyes when I buy another lip gloss! I'm a PPP brunette, and this is one of the glosses I reach for when I'm feeling like playing up my Snow White tendencies, but it's fairly neutral and would probably look good on a variety of complexions. Super cheap, too-under $5!

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - 1980's Glimmer
sugarbomb 7/6/2007 9:10:00 PM
This is a very pretty shimmery complex gunmetal--there are other shades in this as well, and depending on how heavily you apply it, it can also look silver, silvery purple, or even blue/gray. I like to use colored liners with this shadow, because it tends to take on similarities to whatever shade the liner is, in a chameleon-like manner. Definitely not flat or boring. Applied lightly, it's not over the top in terms of shimmer or intensity, but it can definitely be pumped up for a sexy night look. Looks great on my brown eyes, but would look equally good on any eye color. A definite repurchase.

Eyeliner -Kanebo - KATE Gel Eye Liner
sugarbomb 7/6/2007 9:01:00 PM
I have this in BK-2, which is black with silver sparkles. Sometimes products will look sparkly in the pot/pan, but don't actually show up that way on my face. You can actually see the sparkle in this, which I love. The gel is well-pigmented, easy to apply, and comes with its very own cute little pointed brush, which works surprisingly well (I'm deeply suspicious of the brushes that come with products). I bought this on Adambeauty for $15 USD. I think there is less product in the pot than BB or MAC gel liners, but I am pleased nonetheless--after all, they don't come with a brush! I would repurchase, as the staying power is good, and this is the only glittery gel liner that I know of.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam V
sugarbomb 7/6/2007 8:45:00 PM
This is a pale pinkish brown lipstick infused with gold shimmer--emphasis on the pink and shimmery. I'm a cool/neutral PPP brunette, and on my fairly well pigmented lips, this shade looked frosty and washed me out. On the positive side, like all MAC lipsticks it had good staying power, felt pleasant on my lips (not too dry or greasy), and had that lovely vanilla scent. However, I think I'll try the lipglass version of this shade, which apparently has more brown in it. I wouldn't recommmend it for anyone with my coloring, unless you like the really pale-lipped look.

Eyeliner -MAC - Rosemary and Thyme eye kohl
sugarbomb 7/6/2007 8:38:00 PM
I always thought kohls were supposed to be soft and easily applied, but have found MAC's kohls to be anything but. In every instance, I have had to drag the liner back and forth several times for any color payoff, and Rosemary & Thyme is no exception. In fact, it may be even worse, since it's already a light color (shimmery pale olive green). The shade is extremely flattering to my brown eyes, but I gave up on this liner when I found New Weed gel liner, which is a slightly darker version of this shade, and infinitely easier to apply. Wouldn't repurchase.

Eyeliner -MAC - Violet Underground kohl
sugarbomb 7/6/2007 8:31:00 PM
If you're looking for a soft/smudgy violet liner, which I assume is why you're reading the reviews for this item, please do yourself a favor and don't go chasing all over creation for Violet Underground. Simply buy Laura Mercier's Purple Sapphire Kohl liner. It is much softer and easier to use than Violet Underground, which I had to drag back and forth over my eyelid for any color to show up. Are the two liners exactly the same in shade? No--I swatched both on my hand--but I prefer Purple Sapphire. VU was more purple (i.e, red toned) than PS, which had more blue undertones--in other words, a more true violet shade. Violet Underground is inferior in every way to Purple Sapphire, unless you worship at the altar of MAC LE items (which I admit I am sometimes guilty of). For reference, I'm a brown eyed PPP, and both of these liners flatter my eyes. I just prefer the LM liner, in case you couldn't tell.

Highlighters -MAC - Barbie-Pearl Blossom
sugarbomb 7/6/2007 8:19:00 PM
I own several Beauty Powders, and this is my least favorite. I'm a cool/neutral PPP brunette, and can usually pull off blushes that are quite cool, but this just seemed unnatural looking and unflattering. It wasn't quite pigmented enough to be a blush, but was a bit too dark to be a highlighter. It has a pearl finish, as the name implies, but unlike some of the other beauty powders, this one looked frosty, which I detest. I also felt the staying power wasn't that great. I swapped this away. A much prettier alternative is Shell Pearl, which has a bit of peach in it, making it more wearable for a greater number of people.

Deodorants -Dove - Ultimate Clear Sensitive Skin Deodorant
sugarbomb 5/20/2007 9:51:00 PM
I read a lot of praise for this deodorant on the boards, so thought I'd try it, since I'm not really loyal to any one brand. The ads hype the fact that it won't leave residue on your clothes--ha! It certainly does leave streaks. But then, almost every deodorant does, so I can't really fault it for that. I guess my opinion on this is that it is no better or worse than any other unscented deodorant. It works well enough, but is no wonder product. I'd probably buy it again, if it were on sale.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Mango Body Butter
sugarbomb 5/20/2007 9:37:00 PM
Love this stuff! It smells divine, and soaks quickly into my skin, leaving it silky. I apply it right after I step out of the shower, and don't find it greasy at all. Body butters are supposed to be thick and moisturizing, and this is exactly that. Comes in both large and small sizes, so you can try the mini version if you're unsure about investing in the large tub. I would definitely repurchase.

Skincare - Face -Fresh - Umbrian Clay Face Treatment
sugarbomb 5/20/2007 9:33:00 PM
I received a sample of this treatment during the Fresh sale, and was completely unimpressed. It is thin and liquidy, and dries quickly, before I really have a chance to apply it fully. When I wash it off, my face feels dry, and I don't see any improvements. If your face is an oil well, and you'd like to dry it up, this may be a good product for you. If you actually want a clay treatment that will clean out your pores, try Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask--it's cheaper and far more effective.

Fragrances -Robert Piguet Fragrances - Fracas
sugarbomb 4/15/2007 4:33:00 PM
This fragrance is sophisticated and distinctive. I am no good at describing topnotes and whatnot, so I'll leave that to others. However,I agree with people who have said you either love it or hate it. My mother used to wear it, and I am completely infatuated with it, but only recently in my late twenties have I felt that I could do it justice. If applied too heavily, Fracas can definitely be cloying and overwhelming, and to me is an evening scent--it just seems too sensual for the office. I have the body lotion and the parfum--the lotion is a little lighter, the parfum I save for full-on drama. I'm sure I'll continue to repurchase all my life.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Colour Surge Lip Lacquer- Sultry Splash
sugarbomb 4/15/2007 4:23:00 PM
I love this gloss! I initially passed it over in favor of some other colors in the same line, since I'm cool toned, and generally don't look good in nudes, but all the raves I'd heard sucked me in, and I'm so glad. The color is hard to describe. I have fairly pigmented lips, and it tones down the pink without washing me out or looking too brown. It's a sophisticated look, very polished and professional, making my lips shiny, but subtly, not in a teeny-bopper or porn-star way. Sticky enough to stay on my lips through a cup of tea, but not super-sticky, like BB glosses. I'd definitely repurchase. For reference, I'm a brunette PPP, but this color is so neutral that I think any complexion could wear it.

Blush -Stila - Color Push-Up in Cream Flash
sugarbomb 2/28/2007 9:37:00 PM
I really like this product! A pinky-peach (emphasis on pink) cream blush that comes in a cute little twist-up deodorant-like container. I rub my fingers over the product, then apply it to my cheeks. It leaves a very natural flush on me (PPP) that lasts all day. Neither greasy nor dry, it is a failsafe texture and color for lighter complexions.
