Lip Gloss -LORAC - Multiplex 3D Lip Gloss
rated 5 of 5

I've purchased Polished, Cliche, and Vivid and want to collect all the colors. Let me start off by saying I have The dryest lips ever! I don't even have to wear a lip balm when I'm wearing this gloss. I'm not going to go into too much detail because others already have. In short, these glosses are uber moisturizing, glittery, pigmented, nonsticky, and longlasting. Even when the gloss wears off, I'm left with a "stain" of the same color that lasts for hours. The glitter is smooth and not gritty and applies perfectly to the lips. This is BETTER than MAC Dazzleglass in my opinion because they are more moisturizing and longlasting. The glitter seems to spread easier and smoother too. The gloss also makes your lips look plump and full -without the "burning" (this isn't a lip plumper though.) The smell is nice -like tropical fruit. I like the packaging and the brush applicator because it helps to spread out the glitter when applying. The silver holographic ring around the tube has started to wear off though.. so that's why I'm not giving it 5 stars (in packaging.) ..But it's not a big deal because it happens. 1. 3D- Bronzey brown color with pink shimmer. It's not as dark as it seems because it can be sheered out. 2. Cliche- Bright Fuchsia with a hint of lilac and blue shimmer. 3. Intermix- Orangey brown with copper shimmer. Most "nude color" of the bunch. 4. Polished- Sheer peachy pink (more pink) with multicolor shimmer. This one goes on almost clear. 5. Vivid- Bright medium pink with a hint of coral and contains gold & pinky shimmer. 6. Untamed- Coral peach with (I'm pretty sure) copper shimmer.. I can't quite remember.

Palettes -NARS - Wild At Heart Palette 9953
rated 4 of 5
skribblez 1/18/2010 7:22:00 PM

(swatches included) This is a great quality palette but don't go run out and buy it. This if for those who love nude shadows but bright, bold lips. I'm the type of person who either wears neutral shadows or bold shadows but always a pale lip. I thought this palette could maybe do something for me so I bought it. I couldn't wait to get the palette. So when I got it, I popped it open and immediately started swatching. I love 2 of the shadows: Ashes to Ashes and Alhambra (which comes in a duo.) Ashes to Ashes is a plummy purple brown color and Alhambra is just a nice nude with a satin-y sheen. Pandora is a matte black -it's nice but I don't exactly need it. Abyssinia is nice is just another pearl shadow that is just like any one of the dozen I already own. The palette includes Orgasm blush and The Multiple in South Beach. Orgasm is a shimmery peachy pink and South Beach is a slightly bronze shimmery apricot. Orgasm works on me but I don't wear it much. South Beach is nice but doesn't show up on my medium skin. As for the lip colors, they're really bold and red. Baby Doll Lip Lacquer doesn't show up on my lips no matter how much I pile on. It looks like a sheer shimmery pink in the pan but goes on clear. Red Lizard and Fire Down Below look incredibly clownish on me. They're too bright. Manhunt is sheer and gives my lips a red tint. What I absolutely hate is that NARS always puts Orgasm into almost every palette they make. This is my THIRD palette that has orgasm blush in it. They should start putting their other nice blushes into these big palettes like Oasis or Sin. Overall, I like the whole left side of the palette. The only things I "love" are Ashes to Ashes and Abyssinia shadows. It isn't worth it for me to pay $75 for those 2 colors. Orgasm is already but I already have so many "Orgasms" LOL. Another thing is that if theres any leftover powder from the shadows or blushes, they will fall into the lippies. Make sure to use a lip brush when applying the lipsticks because it'll show up a lot better than if you just use your fingers. This is just my personal opinion. I think this would be an amazing palette for those who love bright, bold lippies and nude shadows. I personally just wouldn't use any of the lip colors in this palette. I do love the shadows though. Click on link for swatches. There are 3 pictures.. palette, shadow & blush swatches, and lip swatches. (All swatches were done without a primer. I took both flash and non flash pics in natural light but the flash pics seem to better represent the actual product. These swatches are very close to the actual product and what it looks like on MY skin. It may look different on someone else's.)

Bronzers -Physicians Formula - Powder Palette Healthy Glow Bronzer
rated 4 of 5
skribblez 7/7/2009 5:56:00 PM

I've had this for almost 2 weeks and I'd say this is a great bronzer. I can see it working great for a wide variety of skin tones. I'm fair-medium in the winter but medium-tan in the summer. This is great for contouring (not the nose) and getting a fresh, glowy look without looking overdone. People have been complimenting on my skin since I added this stuff to my routine. I also use a blush and highlighter with this to get the ultimate "healthy glow" look. The packaging is OK.. nothing fancy or anything. I'm afraid it might break and crumble into pieces if I drop it but it's no biggie since it was only like $12. There was a "Buy One Get One Half Off" sale so I bought this along with one of the PF "Shimmer Strips" in Vegas because I wanted to try the shimmer strips as a highlighter. It's ok and will get the job done but nothing special. Anyways, back to this bronzer. The ONE problem I have with it is that it's a VERY drying in some areas of my face as I have very dry, sensitive skin. I had no problems applying it to my cheekbones, jawline, and temples but after 2 days of contouring my nose with this stuff, my nose completely dried out. It was disgusting! My nose was all flaky and the skin was peeling and dry. There were white flakes everywhere near the top and a lot on the sides and bottom of my nose. Maybe my nose was extra dry and this made it worse.. I don't know. But it was really gross and I found myself constantly trying to peel the dry flakes off my nose. It was very noticeable. I'm glad it's gone now and so far, I've had no problems using it on the rest of my face. I think it's a decent bronzer and if you buy it from CVS and don't like it, you can return it.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Babes Diamond Lips
rated 2 of 5
skribblez 6/2/2009 12:18:00 PM

I've had these for months and so far have only worn "Celeste" a few times. The others have been sitting in my make-up drawer. The colors are very, very sparkly and I'm not really into that sort of thing. What I can't get past is the smell. The smell is terrible. I don't know why BE glosses just tend to smell bad. It smells so un-natural and just -rotten. It's a rotten, sweet smell. I did not like the brush applicator for these and liked the original better. Also, these glosses are tiny but I guess that's OK since you get 4 of them. I don't remember how much I paid (I think around $28.) Set is OK but I could do without it. I just purchased the new 100% natural BE glosses and they have the same smell. I no longer wear my BE glosses.

Eyes -BeneFit Cosmetics - Big Beautiful Eyes
rated 3 of 5
skribblez 6/2/2009 12:03:00 PM

I bought this about 5 months back and loved it at first. The colors seemed to bring out my eyes and I started wearing it daily. After a few weeks though, I finally noticed that the pinkish color was just too shimmery and "not natural" looking. I prefer natural looks for my daily routine. The concealer is also too light for my "light/medium" skin. The darker liner shade is great but it smeared a lot and would not stay put. The packaging is pretty cute, but I did not like the cardboard type packaging as it is harder to wipe clean. It's prone to getting marked up on the outside (from my other cosmetics) when it is thrown into my make-up bag. It's been sitting in my make-up drawer for months now and I bring it out sometimes just to dab some of the shadow on my little sister (who is in elementary school) for events and stuff but that's it. It was a waste of money for me. I love the concept but these colors do not go with all skin tones.

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - Lipgloss - Smashing Pout
rated 5 of 5
skribblez 5/25/2009 8:36:00 PM

I love this lip gloss. At first, I didn't see anything special about it and was about to return it. A few weeks later though, I realized it was the gloss I always reached for! It's a great gloss if you have little time for your makeup application. I don't need to wear lip balm under this (and I have really chapped, dry lips.) It's pretty much true color but goes on slightly more sheer on my lips but overall, still bright light pink (if that makes sense!) I love the moisture of this gloss the most and it feels good on my lips. It does not do any more for the lips other than it's great moisturizing effects and true, pigmented color. It's the best gloss I have ever used. No nasty smells or tastes, true color, and no drying to the lips. The packaging is standard and easy to use with no fuss. It's $18 at Sephora which is pretty good but you can find it for cheaper at smashbox.com. Btw, I'm going to start investing in more colors!

Foundations -Urban Decay - Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup
rated 3 of 5
skribblez 5/20/2009 2:41:00 AM

They gave me a mini makeover at the Urban Decay counter today since I wanted to try mineral foundation. I loved the look of this. There was good coverage without feeling "heavy" and it felt like I had no make up on. It didn't feel drying or oily and was just right. However, I brushed my fingers against my face later and there was a pimple forming on my cheek! I found two more near the same area. I rarely get pimples or break out. I was so excited to use this product but it will be going back right away. It breaks me out. I have sensitive, dry skin and I guess my skin just didn't like this product too much. I think this would be good for other people though -maybe my skin is just too sensitive! I'm pretty bummed because I loved the look. I never even got to enjoy this product or open the box =(

Lip Treatments -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter
rated 3 of 5
skribblez 5/18/2009 8:28:00 PM

Packing is decent. Small, white squeeze tube with the Palmer's logo and product information. I used to switch off between this and my Black Jack balms but prefer Black Jack more now. I mainly love the smell (like mint chip ice cream.) It makes your breath smell good too. The texture is more on the liquidy side. In the beginning, I thought it really helped my dry lips but it didn't. I still feel chapped but it didn't make it worse either. If I touch my lips with my finger, it feels nice but when I rub my lips together, I can still feel the dry, chapped layers of skin. Overall, I think it's a good product but I only wear it for the smell.

Lip Gloss -Too Faced - Mirror Mirror Gloss in Don't Hate Me
rated 5 of 5
skribblez 5/18/2009 8:22:00 PM

My all-time favorite clear-ish gloss to put over lipsticks. I love this stuff. I had purchased one of Urban Decay's Pockey Rocket glosses (in a sheer natural color) to wear over lipsticks and the stuff looked great but the smell was beyond terrible. I wanted to find something similar and stumbled upon this. It comes in a clear squeeze tube with a silver "mirror-like" cap. It's practically clear on the lips and in the tube, it's light peachy pink. Like its name, it has a "mirror effect" because it is so shiny -in a good way. It looks natural and definitely moisturizes the lips (I have the dryest lips ever.) The smell doesn't hurt either. It smells like yummy strawberry candy and there's no taste. It is a little sticky because when I'm in the car with the window down, my hair blows into my lips and gets a tad stuck (but it's not too bad like other very sticky glosses.) It's long lasting and is great on it's own and over lipsticks. Good price for the great product. This is a stable in my make up collection.

Blush -NARS - Blush in Oasis
rated 5 of 5
skribblez 5/18/2009 8:13:00 PM

I need to say that I think this is way better than everyone's beloved "Orgasm," at least for tan-skinned or darker folks like me. Orgasm looked very gross and un-natural on me. However, I LOVE this is always recommend this to everybody I know. First off, it comes in the sleek Nars black matte packaging. However, I don't like the material because stuff always seems to stick to it and if the blush gets on the outside, it sticks and I have to clean it off with a baby wipe. As for the inside content, it is perfect. It is the best blush I have ever used. Prior to this, I was using Lorac's "Soul" and they are in the same color family but Oasis is a little deeper than Soul with more noticeable sparkles. Oasis is kind of like the color of a brick to me -but with pink. Light-red, brown, some pink, and a touch of gold champagne shimmer. It looks wonderful and natural, yet dramatic, on the skin. It really brings out the cheek bones but not in a "Look at me I'm wearing blush!" type way. It goes on smooth and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin & dry skin. I like to pair it with Smashbox's Soft Lights in "Shimmer."

Highlighters -Smashbox - Soft Lights - Shimmer
rated 5 of 5
skribblez 5/18/2009 8:01:00 PM

If you are looking for a great (shimmery) highlighter, this is a must. I originally purchased Nars' Albatross but it did not show up on my skin. I kept trying to work with it but it just never worked on me. Smashbox's Soft Lights in "Shimmer" is amazing. The color looks like a shimmery light pink (VERY light pink.) Anytime I wear makeup, I always play up my cheeks (both when I'm attemption a natural look and dramatic night time look.) I usually pair this with a blush and sweep it on top of where I apply my blush and sometimes also underneath where I have applied blush. I only use it to highlight my cheeks though as I feel that this shimmer on other parts of the face would look a little "off." For other parts of the face, I'd go with a matte highlighter. This product just makes your skin glow in a non-flashy type of way. The only bad thing I have to say is that I don't like the packaging. It looks very nice but when I'm in a hurry, I don't like having to twist off the cap and then twist it back on. I rather have it be a flip-open type of thing (does that make sense??) However, I do think this product will last me a long, long time as it seems to go pretty deep inside the container. Worth the $28 even though it's a tad pricey. Overall, it makes the skin look dewy and natural. It looks wonderful and I'm guessing it would work for all tones.

Blush -Laura Geller - Blush n Brighten Golden Apricot
rated 3 of 5
skribblez 5/18/2009 7:47:00 PM

I got this for free from Beauty.com as part of a free gift bag that came with other products as well. I was surprised to receive the full size and not just a sample. That's about $30 FREE for this product alone =) Anyways, the blush is beautiful. It has pretty packaging -black circular container with a "window" that takes up half of the front displaying the inside product. "Laura Geller makeup" is displayed underneath with the company's "lips" icon/logo. When you open it up, the top lid has a mirror that fills the top half (the bottom half is just the see-through plastic that allows you to see the inside blush when the compact is closed.) I feel like I might break this if I dropped it though. Inside the compact, the blush displays a pattern of pretty swirls in corals, salmons, peaches, pinks, bronzes, coppers, and light browns. On my medium-tan skin, it shows up as a "redder" peachy pink with a pinch of shimmer. It looks fairly natural. It's overall a "so-so" item and I personally would not buy this for $30 but will use it here and there. I'd rather go with Nars, it's cheaper and it looks a lot better when worn.

Lipstick -Tarte - inside out vitamin lipstick in Zen
rated 4 of 5
skribblez 5/18/2009 5:58:00 PM

Just got this in the mail today. I bought it for a special offer on beauty.com (buy 2 Tarte products get free Indelible Wink eyeliner).. so I had to buy another Tarte product. I didn't think I would like it since I tend to go for lighter nude shades and this seemed dark. Of all the colors, I chose "Zen" because it was the "most nude" color even thought I assumed it would be way too dark. However, I just tried it and it looks great. Better yet, it feels great (meaning no "dry" feeling that other lipsticks tend to have.) To me, it's dark nude tone with plums and browns. It actually goes good with my medium-tan skin. This is the first "darker" color I have ever liked! Plus, the tube is very cute. It's rectangular with a quilter pattern and like other Tarte products, it's purple. It stands out from all my other lipsticks and will be easy to find when I'm in a hurry. Overall, the color is very subtle and can be played up or down depending on the rest of your makeup. I don't know if I'd buy it again because I don't wear darker colors often and this will probably be enough to last a very long time.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips Lip Gloss in Amber
rated 3 of 5
skribblez 5/18/2009 2:17:00 PM

At first, I loved this product. I wanted to get one in every color! When you first put it on, your lips do plump up without the sting-y feel of other plumpers. However, it does feel a little "weird." My boyfriend refuses to kiss me if I'm wearing this! But I still loved it. It was a peachy nude shade as others mentioned with shimmer. However, after maybe 2 or 3 weeks, the smell was just plain -gross. It had a "smell" in the beginning but I ignored it because it wasn't too bad. I don't know what happened but it just smells stronger now and I can't stand it. It's a sickening "rotten sweet" type smell that I just can't get past. If you can ignore the smell, get it because it makes your lips look wonderful. Very "natural" color on my medium-tan skin and I think it would work for most people. The packaging (box) is also very cute.

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - Synthetic Shadow Brush
rated 5 of 5
skribblez 4/27/2009 2:18:00 PM

This is a great brush. It's in my little cup of brushes that I use daily and my mom picked it up the other day. She was applying shadow to my little sister's eyes and she said, "WOW, what kind of brush is this?!" My mom never ever gets excited over these things so I was suprised. It is a great shadow brush. It holds just the right amount of color and it's perfect. Best shadow brush I have (just to apply over the lid.) It's not in the best packaging but it's super cheap. No smells. Decently fsast shipping (6 days) When I bought this, I stocked up on 5 other brushes and 2 palettes since shipping was almost $14.
