Hair Color -Garnier - Olia
pulidobl 5/9/2013 12:17:00 PM
How do you explain your blue tinted hair to people at your job when you are 56 yo? I dyed my hair with this stuff late at night and didn't have time to correct it. It was tinted in the front only, but yikes! Maybe I didn't wash it out all the way??? There are reviews that say it is hard to wash out. The next day I washed my hair with Dawn, African Black Soap, and a clarifying shampoo. It looks better, but beware of the ash blond colors. I used 9.13 or something like that. Also like other reviewers mentioned, the "mixing bowl" bottle is designed poorly. It went flying a couple times and I had to use both hands to squirt it out. They could have designed the bottle better and used less plastic by putting the developer in the same bottle instead of a separate bottle. The gloves fit fine on me - better than others in some cases. This is pricier than other at home hair colors, too. At least my hair is soft and in good condition even after all the washings.

Treatments -Kahina Giving Beauty - Argan Oil
pulidobl 4/26/2013 3:47:00 PM
This is the BEST of the argan oils I've tried. Yes, it is expensive, but in this case you get what you pay for. The bottle keeps out sunlight to keep oil from breaking down. The texture is light, sinks in right away and has a slight pleasant nutty smell. It does not break me out (two of the four less expensive agan oils have). I don't know if the story of the goat droppings with the argan nuts is true or not, but this does not smell sour or "goaty". Just like there are different qualities of olive oils guess there is that factor with argan oil. I am buying the 3.3 oz bottle next. There are discounts sometimes for Kahina on the internet. I've tried Kahina's cleanser, facial lotion (both are meh IMO) and toning mist (like but pricey for what you get. The real star of this line is the argan oil!

Moisturizers -Garden of Wisdom - Shea Butter- East
pulidobl 3/1/2013 6:20:00 PM
This is the real deal for East African shea nilotica butter. I like the fact when I received it, it was smooth and creamy and not gritty or grainy like some shea butters east and west that I've ordered on line, which means I don't have to mess around reheating it to smooth it out. Comes in a 2 oz plastic tub for $7.45. Not the cheapest, but the quality is great. If you don't like the smell of West African shea, give this a try!

Gels/Soaps -Shea Terra Organics - 100 % Pure Raw African Black Soap
pulidobl 2/14/2013 8:14:00 PM
Not for the faint at heart. This is the real deal African Black Soap in it's purest raw form. Ingredients are coco pod ash, plaintain ash, palm kernel oil and camwood bark. No coco butter, shea butter, oats, honey essential oils of any kind added to this stuff. It comes in a 9 oz. jar and looks like powdery granuals. I just add some warm water to a spoonful and use it as a mask once or twice a week. I might try making a liquid soap out of it and may add some other ingredients to it. This soap is not drying and I feel it does deep clean and exfoliate. Why won't I repurchase?? I am a real klutz and need to use the bars. I have made messes with this :(

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - RMS Beauty - Raw Coconut Cream
pulidobl 1/31/2013 4:35:00 PM
Yes this is expensive for the amount you get. Yes you can find raw organic unrefined coconut oil cheaper. For some reason I like her version for facial use. The reasons why is it seems to not be as greasy and sinks in. (I used it as a facial and body moisturizer, too. It washes off easily if I use it as a makeup remover (works excellent for this even on waterproof). I've tried using food grade brands, too but I prefer this for cosmetic use. I have repurchased this when I can find discount codes for the beauty sites that carry RMS (Beauty Sage, Saffron Rouge, etc. btw not affiliated with any). LOVE RMS beauty!! everything I've tried I love. which is practically the whole line.

Lotions/ Creams -Shea Terra Organics - White Chocolate Whipped Shea Butter
pulidobl 1/25/2013 10:06:00 PM
This is 99.7 natural which is great. This is described as an Ultimate moisturizing creme. The ingredients are water, shea butter, cocoa butter, natural emulsifying wax, vanilla, and a small amount of natural preservative. It really does smell like white chocolate and i can smell the scent all day on my arm. It moisturizes well, also. What don't l like about it ? It does not have a very light texture like some other whipped shea butters I've sampled - it is quite waxy and not that easy to spread on the skin. It takes awhile for it to sink in, too. I think the texture is kind of a turn off to me, that is why I would not repurchase this. Comes in a 9 oz. jar for $18.00. Edit: Decided I like putting pure shea or coconut oil for my very dry skin better. Will be giving this to a friend to try. Dropping rating to 3. Not for me but others may like it.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - K. Hall Designs Milk Bar Soap
pulidobl 1/11/2013 1:11:00 PM
I love this soap. It is HG status for all time favorite soap for me. It is 8 oz. of pure joy in the shower. Creamy, moisturizing without being greasy. Notes of vanilla, coconut and cream along with a generous dose of shea butter and other natural ingredients meld together to get your skin soft. This is probably the closest thing to a milk bath I'll ever get lol. I smell the scent still when I get out of the shower. It is such a comforting fragrance. Too bad the other items in this line don't add up to the soap's quality. (see my other reviews). Price varies from $9.50 to $12.00 depending where you get it from. I get mine at drugstore .com for $9.50.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - K Hall Designs Milk Natural Liquid Soap
pulidobl 1/11/2013 1:04:00 PM
This comes in a 12oz. plastic bottle with a pump. I got mine for free from drugstore.com as part of a promotion. Normally retails for $18.95 give or take a couple dollars depending on where you buy it from. I like this soap. Cleans well, not drying. and it does smell like the bar soap, though I detect a slightly plastic note in it. I purchased the liquid soap in Moss and Pomegranite, though haven't used them yet. Would not repurchase this in the Milk scent though.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - K. Hall Designs Milk Body Lotion
pulidobl 1/11/2013 12:57:00 PM
Ordered this on-line from Bella Claire Homes. Comes in an 8 oz. glass bottle. Supposed to come with a pump. Mine didn't unless I accidently threw it away. You need a pump to get the lotion out of the bottle since it is on the thick side. The ingredients in the lotion are good. About 95% natural - no animal products or parabens. My biggest complaint is that this is the closest to being unscented without being unscented! I can barely pick up the fragrance notes which are supposed to be vanilla, coconut and cream. Will not repurchase for that reason. Price is $22.00.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - K. Hall Designs Milk Solid Perfume
pulidobl 1/11/2013 12:50:00 PM
I took a chance ond ordered this on line. This is not worth getting. Smells nothing like the soap. I paid $23.00 for a .25 oz chunk of beeswax in a little plastic jar. Faintly smells of bananas. Notes are supposed to be vanilla, coconut and cream. Fail as a solid concentrated perfume!

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - The Organic Shea Butter Co. Unrefined Shea Butter
pulidobl 12/12/2012 2:08:00 PM
I've tried several shea butters and this is hands down the BEST of the West African variety I've tried. It is fair trade, organic, unrefined, ivory colored with a fresh earthy light smell. You can tell it is fresh. No gritty particles. Comes in a jar instead of a bag. You can order 4oz 8oz or 12oz sizes. I purchased the 8oz. size. which sells for $19.99. It is not the cheapest, but I've learned like everything else, you get what you pay for - even with shea butter.

Cleansers -Acure Organics - Facial Cleanser Cleansing Gel
pulidobl 12/8/2012 11:07:00 PM
I thought I would try this cleanser since I like the other Acure products I've been using. They are priced reasonably, use organic and fair trade ingredients - and they work! This cleanser is for normal/oily skin - I have normal/dry skin in the winter but bought this near the end of summer. Plus I was concerned about getting my makeup off at night. You only need a drop of this and it foams nicely. It has a strong lemony smell, but so far no sensitivity issues. Since it is colder out now, I alternate this with a couple other cleansers. This is definitely my warm weather cleanser or for tough to remove makeup!

Toners -Acure Organics - Facial Toner Rose + Red Tea
pulidobl 12/8/2012 10:58:00 PM
I have normal to dry "mature" skin. I use this toner along with the Argan oil as a night time treatment. I was taught to do this with another natural skin care line (Evan Healy). the oil/water combo. is working great, even though this toner is for combo./oily skin. Acure has another formulation for normal/dry skin, but I am sensitive to lavender. I find this has a light refreshing scent with a hint of rose. A pleasure to use.

Treatments -Acure Organics - 100% USDA Moroccan Argan Oil
pulidobl 12/8/2012 10:48:00 PM
This is the third brand of Argan oil I've tried. The first two made red bumps on my face (some sort of reaction). Why, I don't know. I am not sure why I tried this brand, maybe because I saw a sample bottle at Whole Foods and it was certified Organic. I guess I really wanted this oil to work for me. Third time was a charm - This is a great moisturizer. I use the Acure Roobis and Rose toner to mist my clean face and lightly massage the Argan oil in. This make my skin so soft and radient! I still have limited luck with using it on my hair - it could be over application and my hair is fine. If you have not had luck with oils - I suggest to try a few brands like I did. I have repurchased this - on my second bottle.
