Mascara -Rimmel - Volume Flash the MAX Waterproof
mulove 3/10/2011 5:18:00 PM
I have stick straight Asian lashes, so I only use waterproof formula because that's about the only thing that keeps my lashes curled up all day. However, this mascara fails miserably in holding curls. I have not come across a waterproof mascara that doesn't hold my curls until I came face to face with this one. I curl my lashes, put this mascara on & within seconds, my lashes are back to being stick straight again. I hate it! This formula is very wet & it takes time to dry. That maybe the reason why it doesn't hold curls. I'm not sure. After I used it initially, I gave it time to dry up a little but it still is crappy. It's very clumpy with lumps of mascara in balls which gets stuck in my eyelashes. On a positive note, this mascara is awesome in that it does not transfer so just to use it up I apply it to my bottom lashes only. Once again, it does get clumpy so I have to be very careful & often times, I do have to clean it up afterwards. Also, I like the packaging. It's little cheesy, but I think it's cute. I definitely won't repurchase nor recommend it to anybody.

Liquid -Rimmel - Stay Matte Foundation
mulove 3/10/2011 4:46:00 PM
This foundation gives me very little coverage if at all. I have far from perfect complexion, so I need a foundation that can cover my imperfections. The consistency is very light & watery, so it's easy to apply with your finger or brush. To me, this product is more of a tinted moisturizer-like than a foundation. If you have a perfect skin or you are comfortable with your complexion & just want to add little something, this foundation will be a great product for you. As other reviewers have mentioned & that was a major disappointment to me besides the light coverage was the fact that it is not matte at all. It has a normal finish; not matte nor dewy & it won't have you stay matte either. I'm not sure why Rimmel is calling this foundation 'stay matte'. Only way for me to use this foundation is to mix it with other foundations because I can't wear this alone. I love the packaging though, nicely compact in a tube. It's easy to store & travel. Love it. It's a shame that the product doesn't deliver.

Powder -Revlon - ColorStay Pressed powder
mulove 3/4/2011 7:48:00 PM
I love the Revlon ColorStay foundation, but I don't like this powder. I find it to be very powdery & it just sits on top of your foundation instead of setting it. It looks very cakey & it doesn't control oil. I do like the packaging though. It's nice & sleek with nice size mirror for touch-ups. Offers very limited color selection & I find it to be overpriced for what it is. You can find better quality setting powders for cheaper price in other drugstore brands, in my opinion.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
mulove 3/4/2011 7:36:00 PM
This mascara is very popular & I'm sure for a reason, but it's not for me & I hate it. I actually tried it on two different times just to see if I missed anything when I tried it the first time, but nope I did not. I did the whole 'open, use it 1-2x & let it dry little bit' thing & I still hate it. I'm not surprised that it doesn't hold my curls since it's just a regular formula as I have stick straight lashes, but it DOES NOT volumize at all & it transfers pretty bad. I honestly, cannot find one thing I like about this mascara. I wouldn't recommend this to anybody & will not be repurchasing it.

Mascara -Revlon - Double Twist Waterproof
mulove 3/4/2011 7:21:00 PM
Initially, I was skeptical of trying this mascara out because of so many negative reviews here & also on youtube. However, I found it on sale & had a coupon as well, so I was like why not. In my opinion, mascara is one of those beauty items that are very subjective as everybody's needs & likes vary so much. For reference, I do have stick straight Asian lashes. My lashes are naturally pretty long though, so I'm always looking for volumizing formula in waterproof version to hold my curls. I actually like this mascara. I wish there was a half lippy option because I would have given it 3 1/2 lippies. It does give me lots of volume, but like many of you said it is also very clumpy so you need to rotate the wand to brush some of it off as you are applying it to your lashes. In my experience, volumizing mascaras tend to be more clumpy than lengthening formulation & that it is kind of inevitable. In order to give more volume, more product has to be applied & that's where clumpy mess comes it. Overall, this mascara does add volume to my lashes & hold my curls well. It deserves 3 & 1/2 lippies from me. I wouldn't pay full price for this, but if I find it on sale I can see myself repurchasing it. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it to anyone as it requires some trick in applying, but I say try it out for yourself if you can find it on sale.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Woodwinked - veluxe pearl
mulove 3/4/2011 6:26:00 PM
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this product yet! Yes, this eyeshadow deserves 5 out of 5 lippies in my book. I LOVE Woodwinked & if I was only allowed to have one eyeshadow for the rest of my life this would be it. I can just do one wash of this color & look perfect. Not that I'm perfect or anything, but this eyeshadow gives dimension like no other with it's perfectly gorgeous shimmer I don't need to add anything else if I don't want to. Now, I can see how this shade can be too warm for someone with really cool tone skin, but on my NC 30/35 skintone it is just perfection. Love the color, texture & everything else about this eyeshadow. I used mine up & will definitely repurchase. I found this at CCO initially, so do check your CCO if you can. I can rave about this eyeshadow all day long, but I'll stop now. If you have similar skintone as mine, you'll love it so give it a go.

Primer/ Corrector -Rimmel - Fix and Perfect Foundation Primer
mulove 3/4/2011 5:57:00 PM
I just finished up a tube of the Rimmel Fix and Perfect Foundation Primer, so here's my 2 cents. I have medium, oily/combination skin that's sensitve & acne-prone. I put this on after I moisturize my skin & let it sit for couple of minutes before I put on my foundation. I don't use same foundation everyday & I use both powder & liquid formulation. This product seems to prime my face well for different foundation formulation & makes it last longer. As most of you are already aware, this primer does have apricot-y, orange-y color straight out of the tube, but it does disappear once applied. (Now having said that, I can't speak for ladies with really fair complexion.) When Rimmel first put this primer out on the market, this was one of the very few if not only drugstore foundation primer available. That has all changed recently as companies like L'oreal & Revlon offers them & has gotten popular amongst us, beauty addicts. Personally, I haven't tried any other drugstore foundation primers so I can't really compare. However, I used to use Laura Mercier foundation primer & I actually prefer Rimmel over Laura Mercier. One thing to keep in mind when using this primer is that little goes a long way, so don't over do it. It's easy to over apply primers because it disappears, but if you apply too much it will make your skin oilier. This product is inexpensive & readily available, so give it try if you haven't already. I'd recommend it & will most definitely repurchase it for myself. You can often find it on sale or double packaged w/ a Rimmel foundation so you can get a good deal on it if you keep your eyes open. Happy trying!

Blush -Rimmel - Apricot [DISCONTINUED]
mulove 10/20/2010 7:38:00 PM
Before I say anything about this product, can I just tell y'all that I used this blush up completely! I had the one with the old packaging, which was poorly designed, but I know since then they have improved the packaging. I'm NC30 and this color looks gorgeous on my skintone. It's a sophiscated golden peach apricot color. Some noted that this blush is glittery, but to me this blush is shimmery not glittery. The blush has good color payoff & it lasts all day for the most part. If I have a very long day, I do touch up once during the evening time to freshen it up. Only con I found, well other than the old packaging, is that this is not very finely milled so as I was using it, it got all bumpy & chunky if you know what I mean. The bottome line is, this is an awesome product. If you are similar to my coloring & looking for a budget friendly everyday blush that gives you a nice healthy glow/flushed look, I'd totally recommend this blush. ++ I'm acne prone & this didn't irritate my skin.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal Waterproof
mulove 8/18/2010 10:10:00 PM
Nice mascara, but I was little disappointed because it doesn't give me any more volume than the regular volume express waterproof mascara. It does hold curls and stays on pretty well without flaking for most of the day. I did notice that the formula itself dries up little bit faster than any other mascaras I've tried so far. Love the yellow packaging! Something about yellow just makes me happy! I gave 3 lippies because I feel that the name of this mascara is misleading. It's just a regular volumizing mascara to me. Nothing really different or special, in my opinion. I'd recommend it if you want a regular volumizing mascara for daily use, but I'd also tell you not to expect mega volume with this one.

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Multi-colored Peach to glow
mulove 9/29/2009 9:42:00 PM
This product is marketed as a face powder. However, it is NOT. I used it as a all over face powder first and it made my face muddy orange-y. This product is more of a matte blush and maybe a bronzer to some? but then it's too orange-y..... Anyways, swirled together gives nice matte orange peach color. I do not like the packaging at all. It's little bulky and the fact that the mirror is underneath the product is silly. You flip the product over, take the brush out (if you use the brush. I do for touch-ups), close it to get the product and flip it over again to see the mirror to apply it. You have to repeat this process for reapplication. This probably won't be an issue if you only use the product at home where there's vanity mirror and separate brush and all, but I do take my blush of the day in my makeup bag on daily bases, so it's very annoying to me. I actually have depotted this and put it into another empty, just good old traditional powder case. I like it much better that way for the road. Would I recommend this to anybody? No, I think the word 'glow' in the name is not what the product is. And I do find the color to be orange-y than peach-y. I feel like you can find something better for cheaper price and get better result.

Mascara -Max Factor - 2000 Calorie Aqua Lash
mulove 9/29/2009 9:07:00 PM
This mascara is nothing special. It gives me natural looking lashes without clumping or smudging. To me, this mascara gives the same effect as the Maybelline Greash Lash Waterproof. It doesn't make my lashes thicker nor longer. It just gives some definition if that's possible for eyelash. I probably won't purchase this again, but if you are looking for a more defined natural look, I say try it. It's cheap, so it won't break your bank if it doesn't work out.

Powder -Milani - Even-Tone Powder Foundation
mulove 9/29/2009 8:56:00 PM
This is a pretty good powder foundation. Nothing special, but it does the job. I'm NC25-30 and 02 Fresco is a good match. It can be tab bit dark, but I find this to be the closest match from their limited color selection. I have very sensitive and acne-prone skin and this product didn't break me out. Packaging is bit bulky, but comes with a nice size mirror & separate compartment for the puff. I wear primer & put this on afterwards with BB powder brush and it gives me medium coverage. This product doesn't control oil, but it doesn't make me extra oily either. Thus touch up is necessary for oily skin gals like me for every couple hours. Be careful when doing touch-ups though. If you are not light handed, it will make your face look cakey. I wish it had more color selection and compact packaging. Overall, not a bad powder foundation.

Eye Makeup Remover -Unlisted Brand - Target Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover
mulove 2/19/2009 12:42:00 AM
This is a Target version of Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover. It works just as good as the Neutrogena at about 30% cheaper. I do find the Target one to be just a tad bit drying and takes little more effort to get all the waterproof stuff I wear on my eyes. However, it does the job and I have no complaints.

Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover
mulove 2/19/2009 12:19:00 AM
This is by far the best drugstore eye makeup remover in my opinion. I have used Almay, Maybelline, Rimmel, L'oreal and the list goes on. It's not greasy and does a great job at removing all of eye makeup including the waterproof mascara I wear on daily basis. I have very sensitive eyes and it doesn't sting or cause irritation. I simply use cotton pads, one for each eye, and use both from and back. I use generous amount, so there is no tugging or pulling of the delicate eye area. I'd compare this product to Clinique Take the Day Off, which is my HG eye makeup remover. Obviously, it's not as good as Clinique, but I'd say very comparable and much cheaper alternative.

Eye Shadow -L.A. Colors - 6 color Metallic Eyeshadow in Cafe Au Lait
mulove 2/17/2009 9:47:00 PM
I'm surprised that no one had reviewed this product yet. Cafe Au Lait is a neutral palette of the bunch. This 6 Color Metallic Eyeshadow palette comes in several different shades and I purchased this and Hipnotic. Haven't used Hipnotic yet, but I use Cafe Au Lait on regular basis. The colors in Cafe Au Lait palette are silvery beige, light peach, peachy pink, golden bronze, chocolate bronze, bronzey purple and like the name they all have metallic finish. So if you don't like shimmery eyeshadows, you won't like this. This is an awesome metallic neutral palette for a buck. I like the colors and how they work well together. Don't be scared of the word metallic though, because these are not overwhelming at all. They give more of a shimmery finish. With the right base, it stays all day long and doesn't fade. I took a lippy off because I find these shadows to be little chunky and powdery unlike the 12 color palettes, which are much more finely milled. It may have to do with the shimmer factor, I'm not sure. However, I still like this palette regardless and think it's super for a dollar.
