Moisturizers -BeneFit Cosmetics - b right total moisture facial cream
rated 4 of 5
muffingrl 10/13/2011 4:23:00 AM

I use this product only as a night cream because of my combo/oily skin. This thick, rich cream does require the whole night to completely soak into your face, so I don't recommend this for daytime use. When I wake up in the morning, my face does look noticeably more radiant. The effect is temporary, but it plumps out my skin so well for foundation application. A lot of reviewers seem to have a problem with the scent, I don't mind it at all, its a light, fresh scent, kind of cucumber-y. I admit it is overpriced for what it is though, so I won't be repurchasing. Overally, I would recommend this to those with normal-dry skin as a night cream, it is much too thick for the day.

Polishes -Revlon - Nail Enamel - Sheer Nude
rated 4 of 5
muffingrl 8/26/2011 2:07:00 AM

This is a very smooth sheer nude color that gives me a very clean, sophisticated look. It is very versatile depending on how many coats I use. 1 coat is great to go with a french manicure for even sheer color. 2 coats is great for a base for a floral nail pattern or other designs. 3 coats gives me a near opaque finish that looks very "mannequin". Great formula, wears the same as my other polishes (almost a week). I always use Seche Vite over my manicures. Will repurchase!

Styling Products -Sally Hershberger - Supreme Lift
rated 5 of 5
muffingrl 7/11/2011 4:00:00 AM

This product is very deceiving, when I first used it I felt like it didn't do much and it performed similarly to the Big Sexy Hair Root Pump. However, after using this for 3 weeks, I find that it is a much better product than the Root Pump. First of all, this volumizing product is a light mist and doesn't leave gunk in my hair like the Root Pump does. I also love the smell and how easy it is to use. I can just spray this in my hair, comb it through, blow dry, and BAM instant lift. I got lazy one day and used no products in my hair and I realized what a huge difference the Supreme Lift makes on my hair. Without this product, my hair is limp and flat and I am unwilling to ever go without it again!

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Liner #13 Black
rated 2 of 5
muffingrl 7/11/2011 3:37:00 AM

I am SO disappointed with this product. I expected a reputable company like Make Up For Ever to produce a quality liquid liner, and for $23 dollars, I expect nothing less! Now, there's actually nothing wrong with the formula. Its smooth, pigmented, and long lasting. My problem is application, the felt tip on this liner is so stiff, scratchy and thick that I have difficulty drawing my usual cat eye. Plus, I feel like the Loreal Lineur Intense performs similarly at a third of the price! Overall, I am unimpressed with this liner. Its going back to Sephora tomorrow!

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua
rated 4 of 5
muffingrl 7/7/2011 5:11:00 PM

I love this foundation! I tried this out at the Chanel counter at my local Nordstrom after hearing so many rave reviews on youtube. The SA matched me to B20 and B30, I ended up with the B20 because I thought it gave a more brightening effect whereas the B30 gave me a more tanned look. I am an NC20-25 in MAC terms. The texture is rather strange since the water separates from the foundation, you MUST shake well before use or you'll end up with a big watery mess on your hand. The Vitalumiere Aqua gives me light to medium coverage, the makeup is undetectable. It just looks like you've laid a perfect veil of skin over your own. One nickel size does my whole face, I use an additional layer to achieve medium coverage. The finish is very natural, not too matte or dewey, once again, it looks like skin. I do powder my whole face with a thin layer of translucent powder to help it stay because it is not a long wearing foundation, it lasts about 6 hours. Overall, I love the effect it gives and I will repurchase.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
rated 5 of 5
muffingrl 6/30/2011 3:12:00 AM

After trying at least two dozen liquid foundations, I have FINALLY found my HG. As a full time college student and part time waitress, I have VERY long days, and DoubleWear totally gets me all the way through the day with no fading, melting, or caking. Before DoubleWear, I was using Rimmel's 25hr Lasting Finish foundation (103 True Ivory), which was definitely very long lasting and had great coverage, but my face looked very greasy at the end of the night. Another old favorite is the infamous Revlon Colorstay (240 Medium Beige), which I use for long school days, but it is definitely inadequate for work. DoubleWear lasts all day, doesn't transfer, and it controls my oil like no other. I wear the color Sand (2W1), I am between NC20-25, for reference. The finish is nice and matte when I first apply it, I don't even feel the need to powder my face. I apply this with a flat top buffer brush and it blends very smoothly. The coverage is medium to full, depending on how much you put on. If you're planning on building up this foundation, I highly suggest using very thin layers. While I don't find this foundation cakey, I can see how it would get cakey if you apply thick layers. I use less than a quarter-size of foundation for my whole face, which gives me a strong medium coverage. Then, I take the remaining foundation and go over my trouble spots. So this foundation does double as concealer. Unlike other foundations that tend to look worse and worse throughout the day, this looks better and better. After the first 4-5 hours of wear, the matte-ness is replaced by a natural glow (not too dewey), thanks to my oily skin. So for half the day, I have a nice soft matte finish, for the other half, I have a dewey natural glow. I also noticed that my blush stays on MUCH longer when I apply this over my foundation. Basically, this is a great product and I highly recommend it to oily girls who need a truly long wearing foundation. Will purchase again and again and again and again......you get the idea! P.S. I do not recommend this for dry-skinned girls, I think this would accentuate dryness. Oh, and boohoo, no pump. P.S.S. This foundation will stain your brushes, spot clean IMMEDIATELY after application to keep your bristles stain-free! I learned this the hard way, as my Clarisonic brush head is now a weird light beige color :(

Polishes -Zoya - Gemma
rated 4 of 5
muffingrl 6/27/2011 2:36:00 AM

Gemma is a very unique olivey-jade green with a subtle blue/pink/purple duochrome shimmer. I needed two coats for opaque coverage. My main complaint about this is that the duochrome is TOO subtle, it doesn't do well in indoor lighting, but it is really beautiful in the sun. I wouldn't repurchase simply because I like trying new colors.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Fresh Start Dry Shampoo for Oily/Straight to Normal Hair
rated 2 of 5
muffingrl 6/15/2011 5:39:00 AM

I had been wanting to try a dry shampoo for a while after watching a bunch of youtube videos about hair care and hair products. I had never heard of a product that would give me fresh clean hair without taking a shower. Since this was so cheap, I decided to try it. I believe I paid around $5 for this at Target. The scent is very pleasant, sort of citrusy clean. It comes out of an aerosol can like a hairspray and it releases a fine white powdery liquid. I section my hair off in 2 inch intervals and do a light spray. Then I flip my head over and rub it it. While it does provide an instant lift and volume, it only lasts about 3 hours before my hair falls flat and oily again. So I must say that it is too much trouble to apply a product that would make my hair look more greasy than it did in the first place. While this did not work for me as a dry shampoo, I did find an alternative use for it. I use it as a hair-texturizer. I have very silky, flat asian hair that doesnt really have much volume or shape. My freshly washed hair tends to be very hard to style, so I spray this in my roots to "dirty" up my hair in order to have an easier time with styling. It works, but it also means that I have to wash my hair that same day or my hair will be a greasy mess in the next day. I will continue to use this up in this method, but I will not repurchase. I heard great things about the Batiste and Psssst dry shampoos, I will try those next.

Mascara -Clinique - Bottom Lash Mascara
rated 5 of 5
muffingrl 6/15/2011 5:31:00 AM

Best invention ever. Before this, I was using a japanese lengthening mascara with a very thin wand, it worked great and never smudged or flaked, but it was very hard to get a hold of since I can only find it in asia. After trying this, I no longer have to worry about running out of my favorite bottom lash mascara, because this is my new favorite. This tiny little mascara does wonders for my tiny asian lashes. Now my lashes are actually quite long, but very sparse. The bottom lash mascara literally grabs every little bottom lash I have and lengthens + defines it. With this mascara on, my bottom lashes appear almost as long as my upper lashes! This doesn't flake or smudge on me and lasts all day until I remove my makeup at night. Only $10, which may seem like a lot to pay for a tiny little tube of mascara, but if you only use it for your bottom lashes, it actually lasts a very long time. Genius invention, go try it!

Mascara -Rimmel - Sexy Curves
rated 3 of 5
muffingrl 6/15/2011 5:26:00 AM

I really wanted to love this product after watching a bunch of youtube rave reviews, however, I was sorely disappointed when I actually tried it. I love the wand on this mascara, I find it very effective in reaching for all my lashes, reminds me of the NYX Doll Eye Mascara, which I REALLY like. The formula is the crappy part. This mascara is much too wet to hold or create any kind of curl like it advertises. I even let it marinate in its tube for a month before trying it again, hoping that the formula would thicken up a bit. No luck, the consistency remained thin and useless to curl my stubborn asian lashes, even after using an eyelash curler. The good thing about this mascara is that the wet formula prevents any clumps. I can pile on 3 or 4 coats of this and it will still be clump free. However, after the 3-4 coats, my lashes are still rather lackluster. It provides minimal length and a little bit of volume. Overall not a bad mascara, but not a good one either. Girls with a natural curl to their lashes will probably benefit the most from this mascara, it looks great on Sam from pixiwoo on youtube!

Mascara -MAC - Opulash
rated 2 of 5
muffingrl 6/15/2011 5:18:00 AM

I bought this mascara during the Nordstrom Mascara Madness event (buy 2, get 1 free) along with the blue Zoomlash and the Plushlash macara. This is my least favorite of the three. While this brush is ideally designed with a long tapered tip for my small lashes, I find that this provides very little results compared to the Plush lash, which has a much bigger, unwieldy wand. Two coats of this mascara gives me a little more length and barely any volume. It basically just makes my lashes darker, but doesn't perform in the lengthening or volumizing departments. I gave this to my mom who likes it, but she doesn't really have any standards when it comes to mascara. As long as it doesn't smudge and is very black, she'll love it. So for those of you who are looking for a mascara that will give you great results, this is not it. For those of you who are looking to overpay for a basic mascara, give this a try.

Mascara -MAC - Plush Lash
rated 4 of 5
muffingrl 6/15/2011 5:13:00 AM

I bought this mascara during the Nordstrom Mascara Madness event (buy 2, get 1 free) along with the blue Zoomlash mascara and the Opulash mascara. This is my favorite of the three. I know MAC is notorious for having underperforming mascaras, but this isn't too shabby. This reminds me most of my Maybelline Colossal mascara. It has a similar chubby classic bristled wand that gives me loads of volume. And the formula is a similar medium consistency that is easy to work with. My favorite part of this mascara is probably the brush, I really enjoy the plumping effect it gives my lashes, however, I find that I can only use two coats before it becomes a clumpy mess. I found that the best way to apply this mascara is to place the wand at the base of your lashes and blink into it, this gives an even and thorough coating of mascara for the most voluminous results. Be careful not to stab your eye while doing this! Overall this is an "okay" mascara, but I will not repurchase since the Colossal gives me similar results and is only $8 at drugstores.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Satin Taupe
rated 5 of 5
muffingrl 6/15/2011 5:04:00 AM

This is my favorite MAC eye shadow next to Club. I love to use this for my everyday neutral smokey eye as an all over lid color. The color is a purpley silvery taupe that compliments my brown eyes. I can get away with using only this eye shadow and some eyeliner for an easy everyday look. I love this color, totally worth the type. If you can only buy one MAC shadow, buy this one!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Glitter Brilliant - Reflects Antique Gold
rated 5 of 5
muffingrl 6/15/2011 4:53:00 AM

I bought this beautiful glitter from my local Cosmetics Company Outlet for $16. It is in the original 7.5g jar instead of new smaller jars. This is a very finely milled dirty gold glitter that is excellent for spicing up a boring neutral look. It adds just the right amount of sparkle that is sophisticated and lovely. I like to pat this on top of my black winged liner for more pizzazz. On nights out with the bf and the girls, I use this wet all over my eyelids for a huge wow factor. This is a wonderful product, definitely check your CCO to see if you can still get your hands on the larger jar. I believe this is a permanent or pro product from MAC that you can buy at any time. If not, this is frequently repromoted in holiday sets. Will not repurchase because I will never run out.

Primer/ Corrector -Boscia - Skin Perfecting Primer
rated 2 of 5
muffingrl 6/15/2011 4:48:00 AM

This primer came in a set of sample sized Boscia products I got from Sephora. The set came with a gel cleanser, a day moisturizer, a night cream, an eye cream, a detox mask, and some blotting papers. Now, I don't really believe in using face primers because I've never found a primer that actually works on my skin. They never seem to make a difference in my foundation application, so why bother taking the extra step? This primer is no different from the others I've tried. It doesn't harm my skin, but it doesn't benefit it either. The texture is very nice and smooth on my face, but it doesn't seem to make my foundation last longer. My one major gripe about this primer is that it stings my eyes. I don't know what it is about this primer, but when i apply it to my cheeks and I get an inch away from my eyes, they start to sting and water. Since this is a sample size, I will continue to use it up, but I will definitely not repurchase.
