Sunscreen -Eucerin - Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion - Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen - 4.0 FL. OZ. 118mL
mkinthecity 5/23/2013 4:44:00 PM
The guidelines from dermatologists now suggest wearing a daily moisturizer of at least spf 30. So I have been on the hunt for something suitable. I have tried many others that have been very good, but I must say this one is the best I've tried thus far! It is so lightweight and scent free. It's also non-greasy! My skin feels soft, clean, and like it can breath!! Many moisturizers with spf feel so thick that my skin feels like its suffocating, but not this one! And for an spf 30?!?! Amazing! As for makeup, it glides on with no pilling!! Yay! As for the white residue I have been reading, I do not not notice this occurring. I am very fair, so perhaps this occurs more if you have a tanner complexion? I was nervous to try it based on the mixed reviews, but so glad I did anyways because I didn't experience any negative reactions:). Also, all moisturizers with sunscreen have always caused my eyes to water or feel irritated at least initially, but I grew to accept it. Not this one! It truly is created for those with sensitive skin! I'be never tried Eucerin before, and so glad I did! Definitely HG spf 30 daily moisturizer! Purchased on Amazon and it was a great deal!

Moisturizers -Ponds - Dry Skin Cream
mkinthecity 5/2/2013 4:26:00 AM
Initially it did wonders for my skin and made it feel baby smooth. But over a few weeks, I seemed to develop an allergy to the cream. Perhaps it was the fragrance but my eyes were constantly burning and puffy and I kept sneezing. I realized each time I washed my face (and removed the cream) my eyes woupd clear and no more sneezing. I was disappointed because it felt so nice and was a good vaue. Too bad it didn't work for me:(

Powder -Clinique - Perfectly Real Compact Powder Foundation
mkinthecity 4/30/2013 11:22:00 PM
Leaves my skin so soft, smooth, and fresh looking! It really covers my redness and can be a great stand alone powder foundation. I have also used this as a finishing powder on top of my liquid foundation. The compact is super cute in the classic Clinique marble green with a separate compartment for the sponge applicator. One of the best powder foundations I have ever used!

Liquid -Clinique - Superbalanced Foundation
mkinthecity 4/23/2013 1:54:00 PM
HG foundation! I have very fair skin and the Clinique consultant matched me to the shade called Breeze. I was using a drugstore brand in the lightest shade, but it was still a bit dark on my face. Since I stopped tanning, stay out of the sun, and wear SPF daily, my complexion has lightened a few shades. This is perfect both in color and application. The coverage is so smooth, blends well, and looks very natural. I like that it is fragrance free as well! I also love the classic square glass bottle, so elegant. I used Clinique foundation years ago, but wanted to try other brands. I must say, after straying, Clinique is the best! Feels so light and makes me glow!

Lipstick -Clinique - Different Lipstick - Sugared Grapefruit
mkinthecity 3/5/2013 4:14:00 PM
Every time I go to the Clinique counter hoping to purchase Sugared Grapefruit Different Lipstick, the SA always talks me out of it and I never end up swatching it on. I end up with another neutral lipstick shade (albeit still gorgeous!) I went to Bloomingdale's and the nicest SA I have ever met at the Clinique counter helped me today. He told me that Sugared Grapefruit it is a bright shade, but at the same time, he said it was very sheer - so it actually shows up quite soft on the lips. He swatched a lot of colors on me to make sure I was sure I liked this shade. Out of all the swatches, Sugared Grapefruit was the color I have been searching for that I kept getting talked out of purchasing! When I applied it to my lips, the color is sheer pinky-peach color with a bit of shimmer. The formula is so comfortable too! It's a very happy and youthful shade. My lips have a natural coral tint, so this really brings out my coloring. I am very fair (I was swatched and my shade in the Superbalanced Foundation is Breeze - lightest neutral shade!) with dark brown hair. Perhaps if you are looking for a sheer bright color, give Sugared Grapefruit a try! This is my all-time favorite color in the Different Lipsticks and really gives a fresh and youthful look! LOVE IT!

Blush -Clinique - Soft pressed powder blusher in Pink blush
mkinthecity 1/5/2013 3:18:00 AM
I love Clinique products and blushes. I had used the Honey Blush religiously years ago and stopped because I got charmed by all the other high-end blushes out there (e.g. Nars & Chanel!) I must say after trying everything else, Clinique colors and formulas seem to suit me the best (everyone is different, so it's trial and error for sure!) I am planning my makeup for my wedding, and I'm practicing with different looks for the big day. I have decided on the classic soft bridal pinks and the Clinique consultant recommended this color. I ordered without trying it first (the one drawback of online shopping - you have to rely on reviews and recommendations!) I knew the quality of the blush would be amazing, but wasn't so sure the color would work. I bought it based on MUA reviews, and they were right! I love the color and the classic green case (reminds me of my Mom... she always used this blush but in New Clover... and I remember always sneaking some when I was little!) I must be the only one to think this, but the brush included is actually quite nice! It feels really soft and I don't feel like I need to use a separate blush brush. I like that it is a natural light shade for my fair complexion. A sweet, youthful, perfect pink. The first time I used it I thought I needed to load the brush with a lot of product, it ended up being quite bold since my complexion is so fair. I just need a dab, and I feel it enhances my complexion in a delightfully subtly way! Love it!

Lipstick -Clinique - Butter Shine Lipstick - Baby Baby
mkinthecity 1/3/2013 11:43:00 PM
I'm glad I finally tried the Butter Shines! I don't know why it took me so long, I guess I have always been a fan of the Different Lipstick and just felt that the Butter Shines wouldn't provide much color. Well, this formula is amazing. It's very creamy, glossy, with a color payoff that is transparent but at the same time evident. Although I really like this color, I was hoping it would read a light pink on my lips. Instead it looks very nudey-beige on my lips (so if you are going for that look, try this!!) probably because my lips are pale. I have a ton of nude lipsticks but this one is definitely the most moisturizing and is great for that subtle everyday look or can be paired with a sultry smokey eye as well. It's like a lipstick and lipgloss in one!! The only lipstick where I do not need to apply a lipgloss on top. My lips do not dryout either! I can't wait to try other colors for sure. I love Clinique so much that I am going to use these products for my wedding day! My skin and eyes are very sensitive, so I trust Clinique because I've never had any allergic reactions to their products. The colors are always so soft and natural (I know, application is important as well!) that I know I won't look garish or have makeup regret when I look back on my photos in 20 years! I always seem to photograph well when I wear Clinique - you notice me not the makeup! I always stray, but then end up coming back to Clinique! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge Duo in Strawberry Fudge
mkinthecity 1/3/2013 11:37:00 PM
Great every day eyeshadow! Very natural but enhances your eyes and makes them glow! I bought this online without trying it first. When I saw the pink in the case for the first time, I was put off. It looked super pink. I dabbed it on my eyeshadow brush, and it still looked really pink. I was afraid it would make my eyes look puffy like I had been crying or something (as most pinks do!) Wow...totally opposite! It's just a natural golden pink and makes you look polished and natural. My dark brown eyes just seem to sparkle:) The brown compliments the pink perfectly and blends into my crease easily. I will have to try more Clinique eyeshadows now:) The application is sheer and the formula is so silky. What a great quality eyeshadow. Gorgeous and will definitely repurchase:)

Lipstick -Clinique - Different Lipstick - Tenderheart
mkinthecity 12/25/2012 10:53:00 PM
Originally I had only given this 2 lippies. That was because I was rather heavy handed and kept applying coat after coat which gave my líps too brown of a tone, and too opaque for my liking. However, when applied with a stippling technique and just a coat... It seems like a whole different color! It just evened out my lips and looked more flush than brown, MLBB! Amazing how application technique can turn a lipstick color from drab to fab! I pair this with Rimmel's lipliner in the shade Natural for a full and pouty yet natural everyday shade. I get why this shade has such a following and can suit so many complexions. So if you were like me and felt it was too muddy looking, just dab it on lightly and the color enhances your lipshade gorgeously. It is a sophisticated neutral that warms up my face for that carefree beachy look when paired with bronzer but understated enough if I wanted to pair it with a strong eye makeup for an evening on the town. Don't let the color in the tube trick yoi into thinking it will be too dark and brown like it did me. The somrwhat transparent fórmula melds with your own lipcolor, making it a neutral uniquely your own. Yay for 5 lippies...and that it was a GWP:)

Lipstick -Avon - Ultra Color Rich in Poppy Love
mkinthecity 12/13/2012 12:27:00 AM
This is a fantastic happy red color! I attached a photo of me wearing this color. It is one of my favorite reds - bright and very warm (coral/orange red!) The formula is so moisturizing and with no noticeable scent. I own four of these colors (including wink, sheer light peach, and sheer naturale) and depending on my mood, I grab the appropriate color. The packaging is in a sturdy and elegant black and silver case - so classic and pretty. I use to use Chanel, Dior, Clinique, MAC... and this Avon lipstick beats them all... and for a fraction of the cost of the department store brands! They go on sale often, and that's when I stock up:) HG formula!

All around great lip balm with a hint of red to give you that youthful yet natural lip flush. Perfect for that fresh and soft look. I purchased for a dollar at CVS because I had a coupon and it was on sale as well - what a steal! I like that it has SPF as well.

Sunscreen -Aveeno - Active Naturals Smart Essentials Daily Nourishing Moisturizer SPF 30
mkinthecity 12/2/2012 7:22:00 PM
After reading the reviews on makeupalley.com I held off on trying this moisturizer. However, I ran out of my Olay Complete SPF 15, and was in search of a daytime moisturizer that had an SPF 30 (many dermatologists are recommending this as a minimum!) It must have been the super cute packaging that swayed me from buying the Olay Complete SPF 30 as well as the antioxidants of A,C, & E listed. When I read the ingredients, pathenol, or B12, was there as well. Finally, another antioxidant, Southernwood extract, is suppose to provide moisture as well...Phew - quite an impressive list! Sounded promising and gave it try. I must say I really like it a lot! I actually like the scent of this product - it's sweet. And the best part, no weird sunscreen smell that I could detect (masked by the fragrance!) It is much richer than the Olay Complete SPF 15 I had been using. It's thicker, creamier, and you only need a little bit to cover your face. It's perfect for the winter months for someone with normal/dry/sensitive skin. If your skin leans more towards combo/oily, it might be a bit too heavy. This is my HG daytime moisturizer with SPF 30! Thanks Aveeno!

Fragrances -Chanel - No 5 Eau Premiere
mkinthecity 11/23/2012 6:27:00 PM
I have always admired the original No.5 from afar. So beautiful, sharp, accomplished, but very aggressive. Then came in Eau Premiere. Just as beautiful and smart as No.5, but with the sweetness and approachability that her sister lacked. Where No.5 was often hard to interpret and needed to be pleased, Eau Premiere greets you with a smile and a hug and wants to make you feel happy and welcome! You can definitely tell the fragrances are related, but personality-wise, they are night and day! Elegant yet light-hearted at the same time - and always so feminine is Eau Premiere. On first spritz, my eyes became wide-eyed at the same time the corners of my mouth became upturned - what a fresh and light surprise from Chanel - a beauty so different from the rest of the other Chanel sisters. Where the other sisters are chiseled and immaculately groomed, she is all rosy cheeked and cherubic with dimples - youthful and charming. This fragrance will work for women of any age who are young at heart;)

Moisturizers -Ponds - Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream
mkinthecity 11/22/2012 12:49:00 AM
I'm having a love affair with Pond's products since discovering them for the first time over a month ago. Even though they have been around for 150 years, shame on me that I always passed it up as an outdated facial skincare line that couldn't be any good since it was always so inexpensive. This cream is amazing. I don't know what it is about this line, but my skin loves it. I have never used moisturizers that have made my skin look so plump and youthful. Not even Olay (gasp!) and I have always trusted and loved Olay, but Pond's has outperformed Olay in terms of results in such a short period of time. My skin is brighter, clearer, smoother, and fine lines are really diminished. Performance and price seem too good to be true. But the philosophy of Pond's has always been to simplify a women's beauty routine and keeping it affordable. This product has a powdery scent, so steer clear if you need something that is fragrance-free. I have sensitive skin, and at first, I was terrified of the scent and did not like it. But after the first use and the next morning I woke up and my skin was really plump! The perfume-y scent that I initially was worried about is now comforting because the results have been so positive! I was also scared I would have a reaction to the lactic acid or the other ingredients, but happy to report no breakouts, itchiness or redness occurred. Yay! I know trying facial products is hit or miss and everyone's skin is so different. Make sure you test a small patch out to see if you have a reaction to this because it is an AHA moisturizer. I would have stuck to just the Clarant B3, but I have read so much about using an AHA for exfoliation, I had to try this one as well. The only thing that may be an issue is if you apply too much, it does pill under makeup (my fault because I like it so much! Just apply sparingly, and no pilling will occur!) Right now I am using this over my Clarant B3 (normal to oily - which is very light so I use it more as a treatment than a moisturizer) at night only. Twice a day was too much for my skin. During the day, I use a moisturizer with SPF 30 (Aveeno Smart Essentials) because the back of the Rejuveness recommends that we do while using this product. The Clarant B3 helps diminish my discolorations from past sun damage and acne scars with the vitamin B & C. The Rejuveness helps fight wrinkles, moisturizers, and smooths my skin with the lactic acid, collagen, vitamin E and borago seed oil. I apply Nivea Creme around my eyes. On nights when I want to give my skin a break from the Rejuveness AHA, I'll use Nivea Creme (about 3 nights a week). This combination seems to really be working for me, but can be overkill for most people. I think if you find one good moisturizer, stick with it:) My skin is so dry and sensitive, I guess I have to go the extra mile. I do look forward to the ritual of applying these creams because it has made such a lovely difference. If you have normal to dry skin (does contain mineral oil), and looking for one wrinkle-fighting moisturizer that sinks into the skin quickly, Rejuveness is definitely a good one to try. I think this jar should last about 3-4 months with morning and night application (twice as long if you decide to use this only at night!) If you take issue with dipping your fingers into a jar, you can always transfer it to a bottle since the moisturizer is emollient but not extremely thick. Another option is to purchase the 1.75 travel sizes as to have a new fresh jar every two months as opposed to 6 months. The price when I purchased this on Amazon.com was only $7.49 for 7 oz. Thanks to Pond's, all women regardless of their budget can afford to have beautiful skin! Even though I have tried high end products (Chanel, Clinique, Lancome, Shiseido, etc.) that have worked well, they have not outperformed Pond's. So my fascination with department store brands have lost their appeal pretty quickly. My skin has never looked this glowing and smooth and just by using an inexpensive drugstore brands! These Pond's products from Mexico are so amazing. Unless something weird happens to my skin (I'll update if I develop any reactions down the road), I'll be using this for the rest of my life for sure. I guess the key to beautiful skin is always making sure it is well hydrated, and using the right moisturizer(s) are key. I'll always trust my face to Pond's and Nivea. Wouldn't you know it, they are the oldest brands around... I guess there's a reason why!

Moisturizers -Ponds - Ponds Nourishing Moisturizing Cream
mkinthecity 11/14/2012 8:26:00 PM
Wow what a drugstore gem! I love this as an evening moisturizer. It has seaweed, apple, and grapefruit extracts and glides on like a dream. I bought a huge 14 oz. tub for $8.47 on Amazon! I did some research and this cream has been around since the early 60's but only marketed in México, so I never knew about it. I believe the US versión is the dry skin fórmula with the white and blue packaging. That has been around forever and generations of women have been using it adoringly. I never considered Pond's because it seemed so old fashioned. Also, because of media propanda, I let myself believe if it wasn't expensive, it couldn't be any good. That all changed when I stumbled upon Pond's Clarant B3 because I was looking for something to fade dark spots. The first night I used this I totally forgot I used it. I woke up the next morning to wash my face and it felt like silk! I wondered why it felt so soft and smooth. Then I remembered the only thing that changed was using this creme! It applies so smoothly and I feel it sinks into my skin. I only need a small amount for my face and neck. My skin did not develop any clogged pores or breakouts. Definitely HG! I must mention this is a heavier creme suitable for dry skin. There is also an herbal/green scent that may bother those with parfum allergies. I actually like the fresh scent and it fades quickly. There is also no sunscreen,so hopefully your foundation will have a sunscreen if you plan to use this in the morning. If this is too heavy, try the Clarant B3. I like both, but prefer the Crema S nourishing creme since my skin leans more dry. They have the 1.75 oz. jars available in the travel section at Wal-Mart for $1.47 which is great for those who want to try this for the first time but unsure how your skin will react. I actually love these mini sizes because not only is it great for travel but the product remains fresh! I'm so happy I gave Pond's products a try:)
