Fragrances -MAC - MAC Creations Fragrance Blend Variation Parfumee MV2
makeupismylife 2/7/2008 10:20:00 PM
I was very excited to try this scent. I own and love Hue: Turquatic and figured that I needed to sample more of MAC's fragrances. I was quite intrigued by the scent description of MV2: lavender, honey, vanilla, lemon....mmmm. I LOVE vanilla and foody scents like Pink Sugar, Burberry Brit, BS Fantasy, TBS Vanilla....you get the picture. I am always game to try scents, but I definitely didn't expect MV2 to smell the way it did on me. Upon first sniff, I got massive wifts of honey and lemon....no vanilla. This didn't smell gross....but certainly not edible. It's a very unique scent, I can say that I have never smelled anything quite like it before. It reminded me too much of lemon tee with honey. I got no vanilla, sadly, but this is not a bad scent....it's just not for me.
Treatments -Clairol - Herbal Essences Breaks Over leave in creme

When I saw this in Target, I literally jumped on it. Being a little bit MUA obsessed (that's putting it lightly), I remembered spotting this product on the Top Picks List. I had looked for it before, but given up because I couldn't find it anywhere. And the best part? It is soooo cheap. Like $3.50. I have long dry, color-treated hair that is very prone to breakage considering I color it a lot and use heat styling every day. After using this, my hair was not silky soft, but very very smooth and no visible signs of breakage. So, in conclusion: This may not be a "miracle" product, but it is a fantastic product at a super price. I really recommend this for ladies with damaged hair. I have been using it all week and my hair looks and feels like virgin hair.
I adore Pure Poison, as I do most Dior perfumes. Something about them just fits my wants and needs...perhaps it is the continual use of vanilla as a prominent note! Anyways, I would describe Pure Poison as a spicy vanilla floral. It's damn sexy.....great for a night out, and I receive lots of compliments each time I wear it. If you have ever seen the TV commercial, you can almost sense the smell (Look for the Pure Poison commercial on youtube :) My only gripe about Pure Poison is the outrageous price.....but I'll just have to do some hard scouting on E-Bay. This will make a great addition to your perfume collection if you like sexy, spicy florals.
Alright, it is time that I set about reviewing some Dior fragrances, because truth is, I dig most of em. Addict gets a lot of praise on the boards and in reviews because it is known for being a very SEXY and SULTRY scent. After meticulously scanning what my fellow MUAers had to say on the site, I was itching to try it myself (especially since everyone described it as an oriental vanilla (I love vanilla scents)). My initial reaction upon spraying myself with this scent was "Oh God, I can't breathe." The patchouli and spices were just too strong....I smelled as if I had rolled around in cedar chips and dunked my head in a basin of incense. I coughed and gagged and continued to walk around the store. However, I kept getting whiffs of something spicy and mysterious. I knew it had to be this perfume. As time progressed, the scent kept getting more and more pleasing to my nose. This is indeed a sexy fragrance -- one for the powerful woman who really doesn't care what others think about her. I am not quite sure if I am woman enough to brave this scent....I hope someday I will be. This perfume requires a very mature audience. For instance, I know plenty of men who would not touch a woman wearing Addict with a 5 foot pole because of its masculine, heady, and musky overtones. However, that being said, a more mature audience would be intrigued by the scent's depth and complexity. If you are a big fan of spicy oriental perfumes, in particular patchouli....definitely give this a try. My three lippie rating falls on the positive end of the rating scale! I do not mean to demote Addict's ranking just because it may not suit me well enough. Fragrance preferences vary from individual to individual, so go sample this -- what have you got to lose?
Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Oil Free Moisture - SPF 15
makeupismylife 12/30/2007 12:47:00 PM
This is a fairly mediocre moisturizer. It was recommended to me by my dermatologist, bu honestly, I prefer to come to you ladies when I need a recommendation! This moisturizer has a nice SPF and caused me no breakouts. I also like the pump bottle and the price isn't awful. That being said, there are many things I don't like about this moisturizer. It takes forever to absorb, so if you use it, you have to wait extra long before applying makeup. On the subject of makeup, this applies horribly under my foundation and balls up! It also really doesn't leave my skin moisturized at all.....I think it even made it more oily. Back to my beloved CeraVe (try that!!!!)
Wow....coool new product from CoverGirl. When this popped up under "recently added reviews" I was instantly intrigued. I ran down to CVS the following day, and literally laughed out loud at the jumbo orange jet tube. I probably would have bought it blindly just because it is so crazy-looking. Anyways, turns out that this lives up to all the hype. Plump, clump-free lashes that last ALL DAY with NO flaking or smudging. It also holds my curl very well and I don't need to retouch my eyes in the slighest at midday. That's a pretty good deal for an under 10 dollar crazy supersized mascara. Go get it, girls!
Treatments -Clairol - Clairol Nice'n Easy ColorSeal Conditioning Gloss

I have nothing but great things to say about this stuff....it really looks in shine and sleekness.....which are hard things to have if you are a blonde with very damaged hair like mine. This gives that great, just-got-a-blowout feel so hair is so much more low maintenance, I didn't even have to straighten....I just did a lil blow-dry and I am fine. Price is cheap (around 5 dollars).....but it is unfortunately a small tube and hard to find (I had to check out several stores). I totally agree with the reviewer below me....I am gonna struggle not to use this every day!
Perfect Arch Brow Kit is Great! The kit features 4 different colored brow waxes and a tiny brush and comb! The brow wax is great, but I took off one lippie because they give you four colours, that you most likely will not need unless you dye your hair a lot...and for ten bucks, that's not necessary! However, my little wannabe makeup artist self uses this kit on all my friends, so the other waxes get a little use! What I usually do is brush on the wax (the taupe shade) with the little angled brush. Then, I will rub a little hair serum on my brows and comb through with the comb. I finish with a little bit of hairspray...and VOILA! Perfect arches! I recommend this highly, visit your Target and pick it up!
I do love CG VE.....gives me the HUGE lashes that I love! This is a very stellar volumizing mascara, I only took off one lippie because it really doesn't last long at all. It does not flake much, I guess it just dissolves into thin air, but I lose that super volume look by lunchtime. I just take in my bag and reapply though, so it's not really a big deal. For d/s, this is great, so I really recommend this mascara if you like volume.
Je desire Nars Desire...tous le temps! J'adore this blush, it is the most beautiful blush I own, and my personal favourite. In the pan it looks scary....very very very scary. Clown scary! I got this in a swap, and upon opening it, my eyes were slightly blinded by the fluorescent pink colour of the blush. But I knew that MUA girls never lie, and the reviews for this colour are amazing, so I was not hesitant to try it. However, be careful to apply this with a light hand. I use Flirt!'s Skunk Brush for buildable colour, so I never apply too much. The result is a beautiful, healthy flush. I like this way better than Torrid and Orgasm, especially when my skin is paler in the winter. But actually, I think this would look nice on golden skin too...it's so healthy looking. If you like pink cheeks, this is for you! I recommend with every fibre of my being!
Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
makeupismylife 12/24/2006 12:09:00 AM
I am so excited to write this review! I have always heard the olive oil is good for hair and skin, but I never put it to serious use - it's like beauty in a bottle. I keep this right alongside my aspirin, apple cider vinegar, and milk of magnesia (the unlisted brand HG's - check them out). The easiest place for me to use this is in the shower, and I will describe my routine: 1) First, I run a handful of the oil through my hair and brush it through before I shower, letting it sink in for about ten minutes or so 2) Then, I shower and shampoo and condition my hair very well - make sure to get most of the oil out 3) I remove my makeup with a Pond's Clean Sweep Facial Wipe, and exfoliate with Pond's Microdermabrasion Scrub. 4) I rub the olive oil all over my face (I AM VERY OILY AND ACNE PRONE YET THIS DOES NOT BREAK ME OUT!) and body, letting it sit for awhile (I will usually shave in the meantime) 5) Wash all the oil off, and moisturize with a good moisturizer afterwards The end result? Silk soft, hydrated, frizz-free hair, silky skin, and glowing complexion. WOW.
I should have listened to MUA, but my pores are so huge that I decided to give it a try anyway....stupid Lucy! These suck so much....they did not even take out a single blackhead...my face looked the same as if was before....plus it hurts like hell....hell no, never again.
When I first sprayed this...I was like "Ughhh no, too powdery" However, the drydown is AMAZING...warm, amber, and hella SEXY. I will definitely be purchasing this, and it has to come in quite possibly the coolest bottle. ever.
Skincare - Face -Oxy - Oxy Maximum Daily Cleansing Pads
makeupismylife 12/20/2006 9:23:00 AM
First off, let me tell everyone about my skin....I have an acne prone t-zone with TONS of blackheads....these blackheads form little bumps that tend to turn into huge whiteheads if they are touched too much. Anyways, I bought the Oxy pads when I was experiencing some breakouts around my nose and mouth....well....not the miracle I was hoping for. Actually, my skin started getting worse because the blackhead bumps started to form huge whiteheads because I was swiping the pads over them furiously. However, now, about five days later, my skin is starting to clear up very well. I will update soon, but I gave it a four. This is no miracle product, but it a decent SA treatment that did not dry me out half as much as other acne treatments...and it is DIRT cheap too! Give it a try.
J'adore J'adore!!!!! I really love this stuff....it is light, classy, beautiful, and SO FRENCH! Although I do not own it....I tend to bathe myself in it everytime I go into Sephora...this one is going on the Xmas list. Get it!
