To start on a bright note, it didn't irritate my eyes and it looked really pretty on my waterline when I first applied it. It glided on effortlessly and I thought it was perfect. However, it lasted on my waterline for about 30 minutes before it was completely gone. I guess my search for a waterline liner continues.
Eye Shadow -Maybelline - inked in Pink Color Tattoo
linh989 2/13/2013 11:39:00 PM
I was so excited to pick this and Barely Branded up from the new metal collection. To my dismay, I was left disappointed. Without a doubt, the color was a beautiful sheer pink. Not overbearing and buildable. However, if you're looking to pick this up as a primer for your oily eyelids, look elsewhere. Looks great when first applied, but after 4 hours I was a severely creased mess. I still got major creasing even when I put eyeshadows on top. This cream eye shadow does NOT last due to fading and some hardcore creasing. A great dupe that actually works amazing is the new MAC Pro-Longwear Paint Pot in Vintage Selection. I have very oily eyelids and this works like a charm.
Palettes -NYX - 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette - Mysterious Brown Eyes
linh989 1/2/2013 7:11:00 PM
The colors in this palette are beautiful and the shadows are very silky smooth. However, the quality is not great. I personally love NYX products, but this one just did not live up to the hype. The eye shadows are not very pigmented and it takes a few swipes to get it to show up. Some of the shades also have alot of fallout. Even with different primers (UDPP, NARS, Tarte, ELF, MAC Painterly PP) this doesn't last long at all. I get about 1 hour of wear with this until it extremely fades or creases. Needless to say, I will not be repurchasing and would not recommend it.
Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
linh989 12/25/2012 9:08:00 PM
The packaging is very similar to the NARS Orgasm/Laguna duo, but that's about it. They swatch differently and one very important difference, this breaks me out and the NARS does not. I used primarily the bronzer along my hairline and experimented with using it as a contour on my acne-prone skin. And I ended up breaking out right where this product was used in annoying whiteheads. The shade of the bronzer is perfect for my NW25/30 skin, but I can't use it because it breaks me out. Needless to say, I will not be repurchasing.
Bronzers -Tarte - Matte Waterproof Mineral Powder Bronzer
linh989 12/24/2012 10:44:00 PM
I was so excited to try this bronzer because I am in love with Tarte's Amazonian Clay blushes. The purpose of this product for me was to find a matte bronzer that I could contour with, but I am very disappointed. I am about a NW30 and this does not show up, at all. If you are a tan asian like me, or in my shade range (or darker), do not go for this. The second problem with this is it broke out the area that I applied it in big cystic acne. I have about 3 mountains right next to each other where I contoured under my cheek bones and along my jawline. For the price paid, I am very disappointed and will certainly NOT be purchasing it again.
Misc Beauty Tools -E.L.F. - Studio Makeup Mist & Set Spray
linh989 12/21/2012 11:02:00 PM
I was very excited to try this after seeing the great reviews on here. Once I tried it, the smell was disgusting. I intern in a hospital and can handle all the odd smells there, but this made my physically gag. I immediately threw it out. For the day that it was on my face since the smell fades, it didn't help my makeup stay any longer than with no spray.
Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Mat Black 0L
linh989 12/13/2012 3:10:00 PM
Alot of people don't like this eyeliner, but I really like it! I use this pencil on days that I'm too lazy to apply my MAC blacktrack fluidline. I use this pencil on both my upper and lower lash lines and smudging has never been an issue. I have very oily eyelids and my eyes tolerate this great. For me, it stays all day and it does the job that a black eyeliner should do. It goes on smoothly and I prefer this over the UD 24/7 liner.
This isn't the best concealer out there, but its the best of the ones that I've tried. I like it because it will completely cover up my dark post-acne scars with the help of foundation and it doesn't break me out. I usually apply this under my foundation (Revlon Colorstay) and you can't see how horrid my skin really is. It stays put all day and doesn't make me oily. It does the job and I do plan to repurchase a backup for when I run out.
I have to say, I LOVE this blush. The amazonian clay blushes can look frightening in their pans, but once they are blended, they look great. This is my favorite color out of all the blushes. I am a tan skinned asian, and on me it appears like a very warm and peachy tone. It doesn't make me look oily after a few hours like other blushes I've tried and it stays all day. Its a great everyday blush to wear!
For $3, this is a great bargain. I use this brush every single day that I wear makeup. I use it to literally, press powder into my face. I just pack on my MUFE Duo Mat powder with this brush and I kick off the excess powder with another fluffy brush, and I'm matte and non-cakey all day. This is a fantastic brush for packing powder on. Also, this is a great buffing foundation brush. It will leave you with a nice non-streaky finish. The only downfall is it falls apart after about 2 years. But, for only $3 you really can't go wrong.
Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
linh989 12/13/2012 2:49:00 PM
I purchased this brush after hearing the hype about this product. I tried to use it for about a month to allow myself a learning curve and I'm not "thrilled" with this brush. It's an okay brush, but nothing worth spending that much money on. I primarily used this for liquid foundation (Revlon Colorstay & MUFE HD) and I found the application very streaky. The bristles clump together and it just is too messy and takes too much time. I personally prefer stippling brushes that are dense like the MAC 130 or for a cheaper alternative the Real Techniques Stippling Brush. If you are trying to decide for brushes, I'd definitely recommend those two before purchasing this 187 because they get the job done without streaks. However, this is a great brush for applying very pigmented blushes to your cheeks.
Moisturizers -Desert Essence - Jojoba Oil - 100% pure
linh989 12/12/2012 8:26:00 PM
I cannot even express how much I love this product. When I first started my Retin-A Micro 0.1% treatment for my acne, the Retin A peeled and flaked me like no other. Keep in mind, I have NEVER had dry skin on my face in my entire life, always oily. After 2 treatments, I started peeling and looking, well, like a shredded coconut around my jawline. I kept moving on just applying a Cerave moisturizer and hoping for the best. Eventually, I couldn't stand looking like a mummy any longer and I added about 2 drops of this oil to 1 pump of my Cerave moisturizer. I apply this all over my face every night, and when I wake up, non flaky and moisturized skin. I would definitely recommend this to all the dry skinned ladies out there or people on drying acne treatments.
I was initially excited to try out this product due to the great hype! I tried it for a few days and there was no oil control for my skin. I changed nothing in my routine besides adding this, and I started getting cystic acne on my jaw and forehead. Can you say, hello scars! Needless to say, not using this product again.
I caved in and finally bought this, and I'm very happy with it! Finally, an eye shadow that lasts all day on my oily lids! The colors are very neutral for everyday looks, but you turn it from day to night if you want. I love that there are some shimmery ones as well as matte ones to give you a good selection. There are so many combinations you can play around with to get a gorgeous look. Yes, the price is steep, but the quality is fantastic!
This product does add length, but that's about it. I have small asian lashes so I was looking for a great mascara and this didn't impress me. This is clumpy and gave me a very spidery look, which I am not a fan of. Also, throughout the day it flakes. I will stick to L'Oreal Voluminous.
