Lip Treatments -Kiehls - Baby Lip Balm
rated 2 of 5
kookykitty 3/16/2009 9:01:00 PM

I have mixed feelings about Kiehl's Baby Lip Balm. It is very emollient, but it doesn't absorb well into chapped lips. I find it works well to keep lips moisturized once you've corrected the dry chapped problem, but if you apply this product to very dry chapped lips, it will just sit on top of your lips like a greasy film. I do find that once I buff my lips and prep them first, it sinks in a bit better. I would not recommend this for people with dry peeling chapped lips without buffing and prepping lips with a lip scuff or lip buffing beads first.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Metallic Creme Eye Color in Alloy
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 3/15/2009 8:15:00 PM

This is a lovely product! Alloy is a shimmery neutral taupey silvery grey on my medium yellow undertoned skin. It has tons of shimmer, but it's nice and soft so it doesn't look *too metallic* or frosty. Easy to apply and blend and nicely pigmented. You only need just a little bit of product. Squeeze a tiny bit to the back of your hand, use the tip of your finger to sorta spread it around a bit to thin it out and warm it up before you pat and blend it onto your eye lid. Alternately, you can use a brush--MAC 242 is a nice one to use to sorta paint the color onto your lid.

Concealers -Smashbox - Photo Op Under Eye Brightener
rated 1 of 5
kookykitty 3/15/2009 8:11:00 PM

Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener is a useless product. It does absolutely nothing. The product is very sheer and runny. I saw no noticeable difference in my under eye area after I applied this product. I even tried to add more product to see if it would help. It did not. It's just too thin. Do not waste your money on it.

Lipstick -Fresh - Tibetan Poppy Lipstick
rated 3 of 5
kookykitty 3/12/2009 10:59:00 PM

Tibetan Poppy is a brightish tomato red on me. For reference, I have yellow undertoned medium colored skin (think Stila E) and dark brownish black hair. It's nicely pigmented and it's creamy enough not to dry out my lips. The color reminds me of lipstick a lot people wore in the 1940s and 50s. It truly is a classic tomato red. I wouldn't buy it again because I don't think it looks that great on me.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Styling Lotion
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 3/11/2009 11:11:00 PM

This has become a HG staple for my curly frizzy locks. I spray this onto damp towel dried hair and then I run my hands through my hair to make sure the product is evenly distributed. Then, I let it air dry. Once it is dry, I turn my head upside down, side to side, shaking it all out and sorta bunching my hair up with my hands. I do this a few times and I end up with soft, full, beautiful curls. The finished look is very beachy with a cool bedhead like vibe.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Burnished Copper Metallic Creme Eye Colour
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 3/11/2009 11:07:00 PM

To me, this product is like a warm, burgundy toned version of MAC Dabble paint. Burnished Copper is a plummy coppery bronze with soft shimmer. It's beautiful! I use it over UD Primer Potion and MAC Shroom. It comes in a little metal squeeze tube and you just need the tiniest bit because it is so pigmented. After squeezing a bit out, I kinda rub it around on the back of my hand to warm it up and thin it out a bit to make it easy to apply and blend, then I apply it using my ring finger and sorta pat and then blend it onto my lids and up into my crease. I think it looks great with my dark brown eyes and against my yellow undertoned medium colored skin. I use this with a peachy blush and bronzey lips for a nice sunkissed look.

Lip Gloss -Laura Mercier - Lip Plumper - Bronzed Berry
rated 4 of 5
kookykitty 3/11/2009 10:56:00 PM

This product reminded me of a more pigmented less warm version of BE Buxom Lip Plumper in Ginger. Bronzed Berry is a bit of a misnomer for those with pigmented lips like mine. My lips have a naturally warm pinkish coral tint that tends to lend an orange toned tinge to most lip colors (unless the formulas are very pigmented). So, bear this in mind when reading my review. On my lips, Bronzed Berry has no berry tones at all. It is a neutral cinnamon bronze with tons of soft shimmer making it look almost like there is a very slight warm frost to it if you apply multiple layers. It is a very beautiful color and looks great against my MMM yellow undertoned skin. It has a fruity scent to it and it tingles just a tinge upon application. It is nicely pigmented and goes on creamy and smooth. I think the berry tones in the color canceled out the coralish tones (and vice versa) in my natural lip pigment and that is why the color comes out more of a neutral cinnamon bronze on my lips. Swiping on a tissue, I see the berry tones under the bronze, but this not evident on my lips. Great color, nonetheless.

Powders -Jane Iredale - Pure Matte Finishing Powder
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 3/11/2009 7:46:00 PM

I have oily acne prone skin and I use the Pressed Pure Matte Finishing Powder to set my liquid foundation. It does not seem to impart any additional color in my yellow undertoned medium colored skin. I like that it seems to help keep my face from becoming so shiny and oily. I just blot with my Clean and Clear oil blotting sheets (but I noticed I am not as oily since I started using Jane Iredale Matte Finishing powder) 2-3 times a day. This is not too bad considering I normally have to blot practically every hour. I prefer this product over MAC Blot powder which I was using previously.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips Lip Gloss in Ginger
rated 4 of 5
kookykitty 3/11/2009 7:38:00 PM

Ginger is a sheerish warm cinnamon brown with strong coralish orange tones on my pigmented lips. It also has fine goldish sparkles that are subtle enough to make lips look lustrous and shiny not disco ball sparkly. It looks good with my yellow undertoned medium colored skin and dark brownish black hair especially with peachy blush and coppery bronzey eye shadow. It tingles upon application and this cooling sensation lasts for awhile. The products goes on a bit sheerly, but you can layer for more intensity. It also has a sweet baked scent to it similar to hot snickerdoodle cookies or warm vanilla sugar cookies. One lippie off for the strong orange undertone and because I expected it to apply more like it appears in the container (bronzey brown color with a rosey tinge). Otherwise, this is a nice color for a bright and healthy summery look!

Lipstick -Vincent Longo - Lip Stain- Chica Mokita
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 3/9/2009 10:31:00 PM

I really like Vincent Longo Lip Stain Lipsticks. I have very dry chapped lips and his lip stain lipsticks feel nice and creamy. Chica Mokita is a warm plummy brown with a hint of a reddish sienna color to it on my naturally pigmented lips. You can control the intensity of the color with application. I like to apply just a sheer coat and I think it looks great with my MMM yellow undertoned skin. Btw, I am a Stila D/E, VL Water Canvas in Sandy Beige for reference.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Provence Pigment
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 6/2/2005 10:10:00 PM

I love Provence pigment! I was expecting it to be like Fairlite but with gold sparkle, but I actually found it to be more pigmented on my MMM, Stila D/E, yellow undertoned skin(contrary to what others have experienced). On me, it's a yellowy champagne color w/ tons of shimmer and golden sparkle. It's one of my new faves! :) It reatails for $18.50 for the jar.

Lips -Stephane Marais - Lipstick
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 4/3/2005 9:16:00 PM

Wow! Love the texture of Stephane Marais Lipsticks! I, too, was a Armani fan before I tried this, but I agree with many of the others below, I must say that the Marais lipsticks are better! Yipes! :P This review is for the regular lipstick #35. On my pigmented lips and against my MMM yellow undertoned skin, this is a warm peachy nude color. It is very creamy and does not dry my lips out at all! Fabulous pigment, too! It retails for #22 and is housed in a chic art deco-ish design. Love it! I want them all now! :P

Styling Products -TiGi - Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 3/27/2005 10:37:00 PM

Wow! Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock is my HG hair product. I have thin super frizzy hair and Curls Rocks transforms these crazy tresses into beautiful shiny well formed curls! The consistency of the product is similar to a sticky white paste. It is important not to use too much product. I use only 1 pump and I spread it out by rubbing it between my hands and then I apply it evenly all over my damp hair. I make sure to distribute evenly and then I sorta take the ends of my hair in my hands and "scrunch/bunch" them up so my hair isn't just lying limp and flat against my head. I let it air dry and I have lovely frizz free perfectly formed wavy curls! Looove this product!!! :)

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Auntie Rhubarb Full Swing Conditioner in Vaniglia del Madagascar
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 3/27/2005 10:30:00 PM

This review is for the Vaniglia del Madagascar Full Swing Conditioner: This smells like a powdery floral vanilla. The floral is nice and soft, though--not strong and the vanilla is a soft musky creamy one, too. Lovely! I have thin super frizzy ultra curly dry hair and this conditioner left my hair soft, shiny, full, and frizz free! :)

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Purely Silk body lotion (any scent)
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 3/27/2005 10:28:00 PM

BBW Purely Silk Body Lotions are really nice! I have been using the Black Raspberry Vanilla one. It makes my skin *silky* smooooth! I feel so soft after I put this on! I agree with the others that this is not a very moisturizing product, but it's perfect for normal skin or when you don't need much moisture. Love the pretty frosted glass bottle.
