Crème -Sacha Cosmetics - Creme to Powder Foundation

I just wanted to comment on all the negative reviews about Sacha's customer service. They must have improved their CS over the years b/c I have had an excellent experience with them so far. Just last week I ordered the foundation tester kit as I've been trying for-ev-er to match my American-Okinawan complexion. First of all, I rec'd my tester kit in 2 days so obviously really quick and just now I rec'd an email follow up (pasted below) which I think was really nice of them to do. I did in fact find an excellent match (hallelujah!) and plan to order as soon as I'm done with this review. Until now I was very happy using foundation from Zhen (after trying like every DS brand and MAC and Armani) but being a cosmetics junkie :) I've still been looking for a better match and I believe I have found it. The creme is a nice consistency and is buildable and I like it better than the foundation stick I tried from Zhen which was difficult to apply - it was too thick or sticky or something and didn't spread evenly. So anyway - if you are thinking about giving them a try don't be scared away by the negative CS comments. Highlighters -MAC - strobe liquid

I'm on the fence with Strobe. I expected it to give me that dewey look that lots of celebs are sporting right now but I don't find that happening for me no matter how much I apply or how I apply it. BUT I have to say my skin does look much "brighter" and smoother - my pores and small acne scars are so much less noticeable once my foundation sets- so it's apparently doing something but more along the lines of an awesome primer. So I will continue to use it but I don't know that I will repurchase as I might opt to try something else once I finally run out. *UPDATE* - No longer using this product b/c I started breaking out.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Matte eyeshadow in Peach Sorbet

Very nice natural color - exactly what I was looking for on those days - especially in Summer - that I just wear mascara. It adds color without adding color if that makes any sense! And then as a bonus, as others have said, it's a great highlight color when paired with other darker shadows.

Blush -Revlon - Matte Powder Blush in Rose Rapture

I will repeat what just about everyone is saying - it is a very nice subtle but buildable color. I haven't had much luck with pink blushes but this is a really nice color on my fair Asian skin.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque

I have been wanting to try this mask forever b/c of all the rave reviews but I can never find it - it's always sold out which made me want to try it even more! Finally the other day I found it at CVS. Well I hate to be the minority here but I didn't like this mask at all. I managed to keep it on my face despite the fact that the smell was overwhelming & chemical and the "tingling" (really more like a burning) was not at all enjoyable. I was hoping that it was worth it but alas it was not. I didn't even feel like my skin was any cleaner and I was actually afraid to put my moisturizer on afterwards b/c my face felt tender - not clean. I use St. Ives Mineral mask and my skin in glowing and fresh-looking immediately after rinsing - without the harsh smell and burning.

Mascara -Rimmel - Lash Maxxx

Bought this at Target yesterday on a whim - the comb applicator looked interesting and I've never tried anything like it. So far I love it...I've been trying lots of drugstore mascaras and could never find anything I liked better than Maybelline Full & Soft but I think this might be it. I just put it on so I'll have to see what it's staying power is like. The comb felt weird to me at first especially since Full & Soft's brush is so "furry." But the comb really gets to all my lashes and I find I can really get to the base of my lashes which I couldn't really do without poking myself in the eye with other applicators. It definitely keeps clumps at bay. I think that even if I wind up not liking the mascara I will wash out the comb and use it to remove the clumps I sometimes get with Full & Soft. I should note that I am a huge fan of Shiseido's The Makeup Mascara Base and use it everyday so if this mascara works for me and not for you that might be the difference.

Hair Styling Tools -Farouk CHI - Pink Ceramic Ionic Hair Dryer

This is my first non DS hair dryer b/c I couldn't wrap my brain around the idea of spending over $100 on a hair dryer. However, I recently bought a CHI flat iron to replace my Conair flat iron and the difference in quality and performance has made me a convert. I hadn't yet decided what dryer I planned to purchase when I quite accidentally found this dryer at TJ Maxx for $99 and bought it since they only had one. I looked it up here first but when I didn't find any reviews I turned to folica.com where it got a 4 out of 5 star rating so I was optimistic. Well, this dryer is ridiculously better than any other dryer I have ever had!! Again - this is my first so whether it can stand up to a T3 or Bespoke I don't know. What I do know is, it used to take me a solid 20 mins to dry my hair with frizzy results...with the CHI it took me 8 mins with sleek shiny results. I actually didn't need my flat iron (I have naturally straight, thick Asian hair) and I am now wondering if I will ever need my flat iron - which will be difficult to swallow considering that too cost me $100. It is so much lighter and quieter too. I hope it lasts forever but even if it doesn't my next dryer purchase will NOT be from a drugstore.

Wow - I'm shocked I am the first to post a review! Well, I love this stuff. My stylist used it on my wet hair before blow drying and I really found my hair to be very shiny - and NOT greasy - and no fly aways. I love the scent but it is strong so you'll have to love it. But IMO the BEST part is the little dropper that you use to get the product - it is such a great touch and really helps to control how much you use. I also use it on my dry hair after flat ironing when I want a really sleek look. It is expensive but it falls under the "a little goes a long way" category.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Fresh Foaming Cleanser

I really like this cleanser and have been using it forever though it doesn't remove waterproof mascara well on its own - I love Ponds Cold Cream for that. Some reviewers have mentioned it smells strong and I thought maybe I was reviewing the wrong product because I have never noticed any scent at all which is another reason I happen to like it!

Cleansers -Ponds - Deep Cleanser Cold Cream

I love this stuff and though I have tried other make removers I always come back to the Ponds cold cream. I do NOT however use it all over my face - it's my HG eye make up remover. It successfully removes my Shiseido Mascara Base/Primer and waterproof mascara but I do follow up with Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Facial wash because as I said I do not use the cold cream for my whole face. I even use a dab as an overnight eye cream.

As one reviewer posted this lotion is not a broad spectrum lotion and I wouldn't use it for the beach, etc. but I love it for regular everday use when I'm out and about. It has a subtle fragrance and it moisturizes nicely. I love it.

Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning lotion

I like this lotion when I can't find Queen Helene's lotion. IMO the scent is not overpowering and nothing like chocolate cake as one reviewer posted but I do think the Vaseline is a more sugary cocoa butter scent that the cocoa butter scent of Queen Helene's lotion. Overall a good product and priced accordingly.
