Sunscreen -Shiseido - Sun Block Stick Spf 35- tinted
iris1037 6/11/2006 9:46:00 PM
I found this while looking online for waterproof face sunscreen. I surf, and in Southern California weather, I get burned super easily (I'm quite fair), so I wanted something that's going to stay put with vigorous activity in the water. Not only is this super easy to apply (I dab it on in about 5-6 dots and then blend them all together) but it STAYS. I love that the "beige" color matches me perfectly (literally disappears into my skin) and provides just a bit of coverage. It's not "makeup" exactly, but just enough to cover redness/imperfections. The stick is great to toss into a bag, and while it's a bit expensive for how much you get, you don't need much. Even applied with a very light touch, you're good to go with SPF. If you want something for the beach, especially if you're in the water, this is the ONLY one to check out. Nothing else like it! The packaging states that it lasts for 80 minutes of activity in the water, but I was out for 3 hours and STILL didn't get the slightest bit red. Amazing.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Glossimer- Rose Sand
iris1037 5/7/2006 3:48:00 AM
A gorgeous pink Glossimer. On some this may be significantly less pigmented than other glossimers tend to be, but it does give some color to the lip (more than just a clear gloss). Great staying power, and it's definitely less sticky than many other glosses. It's not a cheese-y candy pink, nor is it clear - just a great 'your lips but better' color. Very lovely for spring/summer. Would definitely buy again!

Fragrances -Viktor & Rolf - Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb
iris1037 11/10/2005 1:55:00 AM
Love love love. Everyone else has written about the notes and all that, so I'll just say this - gorgeous bottle, incredibly long lasting (morning until night) and it is just gorgeous on. It doesn't dry down funny or anything, and it's a very complex scent. I don't get powder or patchouli at all, just floral and spice. Lovely for all year round.

Blush -Chanel - Joues Contraste - Mirage (Rose Bronze)
iris1037 10/18/2005 2:11:00 AM
I was out shopping with my mom two weeks ago, and she remarked that it was good I was staying out of the sun (having inherited her Irish skin) but that I looked deathly pale, so she dragged me over to the Chanel counter to make me look more "perky." This was the first one the Chanel girl tried on me, and I fell in love. I looked like I'd gotten 10 hours of sleep or something! I have a very cool skin tone, but it made me look warm and fresh, not orange. It's a girly pink/peach with a touch of bronze to it but it doesn't sparkle, just a bit of sheen. It actually gives me cheekbones when applied properly, and be careful to apply it with a light hand, because it's quite pigmented. Lovely packaging (as always with Chanel) but don't use the brush included unless you have to; use a larger brush of your own. I'm sure it will take me ages to go through this, but I'd definitely repurchase.

Treatments (Eye) -Origins - A Perfect World for Eyes
iris1037 9/21/2005 10:55:00 AM
And this is why one should check the reviews before buying . . . This product is garbage. First of all, I like the packaging - the pump is great because you can dispense exactly what you need (less than one squirt) and it's sanitary, because you don't have to stick your fingers in a pot. However, it's $29, which isn't all that great for a teensy tube. The smell is a bit odd - it's not bad, but not good, just odd. The cream feels good going on, but that's incredibly temporary. I was soon overwhelmed by the itching and burning and had to wipe it off. My eyes then swelled shut and became red and inflamed. Tissued everything possible off, and for 24 hours my eyes were very inflamed. Not exactly what I was looking for. Returned it the next day.

Polishes -OPI - Privacy Please
iris1037 7/21/2005 3:45:00 AM
A lovely milky pink - your nails but better category. Doesn't streak at all, and a great application (as always, to be expected from OPI). Color is very similar to other that I have, probably most similar to Essie Allure with just a teensy bit more pink to it. Great shine and wear.

Polishes -Essie - Gladioli
iris1037 7/21/2005 3:43:00 AM
What a great soft pink! I found this one in search of a perfect year round pedicure color - it's a similar hue to OPI's Pistol Packing Pink but not as pigmented, which is good because the color is buildable. You could definitely use it on hands because the color starts out so sheer. Just a gorgeous pale shell pink! Love.

Polishes -Essie - Delicacy
iris1037 5/4/2005 3:01:00 AM
I love this color of Delicacy - - a nice clean, light pink that's fairly see through (I don't like opaque pinks on my hands). However, I didn't think it would be as shimmery as it is, so hence the reason it got a 4 instead of a 5 . . . looked slightly irredescent in the bottle, came out more like OPI Tutti Frutti Tonga than I was hoping for. Good if that's what you're looking for . . . still gorgeous though.

Polishes -Essie - Fed Up
iris1037 5/4/2005 2:58:00 AM
I may have a holy grail in this one. Just the color I was looking for - - nude/pink with just the right amount of coverage. The shine is great, doesn't streak whatsoever, and it still looks like you have nailpolish on (if I spend the time, I want it to be noticable!). Freakin fantastic, everyone needs it.

Self Tanners -Jergens - Natural Glow
iris1037 4/23/2005 3:54:00 PM
The smell is not bad at all, I'm really not noticing what other reviewers are saying about it. What I don't like are the sparkles . . . I do not like my skin to have glitter in it. But that aside, it's a nice moisturizing lotion for all over, I really like the texture, and it smooths out well. I've noticed a subtle color difference that isn't streaky or orange, which is just what I was looking for. This is NOT a self tanner, it's something less than that, which is awesome. Just subtle enough that I'm not pasty anymore (we're talking glowing white with visible veins). Good stuff, should lose the sparkles.

Lips -Kiehls - Lip Balm SPF 15
iris1037 4/17/2005 12:12:00 AM
I really like the packaging on this, nice applicator and no chance of germs like lipbalms in pots. The SPF actually works, because my lips get sunburned easily at the beach and they don't with this. Very moisturizing and long-lasting. The only problems I have with it are the smell (very chemical-y) and the weird yellow color. It's not that bad on, but it would be nicer with a very subtle pink or something. I would definitely buy this again. A good staple for me.

Shave Products -Kiss My Face - Moisture Shave
iris1037 4/1/2005 6:04:00 PM
I picked this up at Whole Foods and really love it. It's the best shaving gel/cream I've ever used - - very moisturizing and no nicks. However, I hate the Jasmin scent, so I try to make do, but when I repurchase I'll get unscented or try another scent. Jasmin is overwhelming and smells kind of fake - - the only reason for a lower rating.

Polishes -Essie - Allure
iris1037 3/17/2005 3:35:00 PM
This is as close to a staple as I can get. I picked it up after reading about it in Allure (it was described as the perfect color for work or interviews) and they were dead-on right. It's not pink but it's not really nude . . . it's just perfect. It doesn't streak at ALL (like Ballet Slippers does) and it's not as transparent as Mademoiselle. It just looks awesome . . . your nails but better, always looks beautiful.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel [DISCONTINUED]
iris1037 3/17/2005 3:32:00 PM
I've used this 4 times so far. It was incredibly hard to find, but I tracked it down at *gasp* Wal-Mart. First of all, it reeks to high heaven. Someone described it as "spit and feet," and that comes somewhat close - - it's just pretty disgusting. But that aside, after the first time of use, my skin was smoother, the red spots were diminished, and I've never felt my skin that soft. Now that I've used it several times, my skin hasn't had any new breakouts (which it probably would have by now) and the marks are going away. The goal is foundation-free face, and I seem to be closer to that. Warning: don't, no matter how excited you are with the first day's results, put it on two days in a row. I got red and puffy and it took 3 hours to go away. Seriously . . . don't do it. Honestly, I'm very pleased with this so far. It's definitely living up to the hype. The only way to improve it would be to make it smell better. The texture is kind of weird, but interesting (it looks sort of like an exfoliant, with little blue beads in it).

Polishes -OPI - Pistol Packin Pink
iris1037 3/17/2005 3:21:00 PM
This is one of my favorite pedicure colors. It's a nice medium pink, without being overpowering, and it's definitely not too light (as Sweet Heart or Bubble Bath can be). Just a great all-around pink, it doesn't streak, and same quality as all other OPIs - - easy application, no chipping. A definite favorite.
