Masks -The Body Shop - Blue Corn Mask
rated 5 of 5

Now I see why this is a cult favorite! Definitely the best mask I've used; can't believe it took me this long to try it. My favorite part is that this is not just a clay mask that draws out impurities; it also is an exfoliator (has little scrubby beads)- bonus! And the smell.....so pleasant. Every single time I've used this, my skin feels so much cleaner and looks healthy and radiant. The only downside is that it stings when you first apply it, but that wears off after 30 seconds (it feels like its literally sucking all the gunk out of your skin). Highly recommended if you're looking for a clay mask to use 1-2x a week; this goes on my HG list.

Concealers -Pixi - Correction Concentrate- Brightening Peach
rated 4 of 5

I think I am *almost* closing in on an end to my hunt for an effective product that will conceal my dark under eye circles! This product is a godsend, especially for someone like me with hereditary dark circles, but also someone whose prone to itching her eyes because of allergies (for reference I'm NC30-35). The peach color is AWESOME, you can definitely see the difference if you apply it to 1 eye and compare to the other. The consistency is slightly thick, but warms up with your body heat that lets it apply easily. I set this with my MAC powder, and it stays put for most of the day. I've used this as a highlighter on other parts of my face (cheekbones/nose bridge) but I don't see much of a difference..maybe it because this product doesn't have specks of glitter in it like most DS products do? I gave this a 4 as opposed to 5, because I feel on certain days I should also apply a concealer with this brightening concentrate, particularly if I've had a late night. I was going to get either SkinFood (Salmon) or BB's correcting peach, but I think I have a winner here, and at a fraction of the price!

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
rated 1 of 5
iamalovecat 11/27/2012 5:09:00 PM

From reading the reviews, looks like I'm in the minority - this was not a great product for me. Pros - great color selection. Cons - made my lips peel like CRAZY, and so strange too, because its very 'smooth' & balm like when you apply, but after an hour or so, not only was there not very much color on my lips, my lips also started peeling. I used this about 3x before I realized it was this causing my lips to peel.

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio HD Blushes (all)
rated 2 of 5
iamalovecat 11/21/2012 9:55:00 PM

Got 2 of the studio HD blushes in a mini ELF haul - Diva and Superstar. First of all, make sure you shake up the bottle REALLY WELL before dispensing any product - otherwise it comes out mostly liquid. I really wanted to like this blush but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype (for me at least) - staying power is not great- yes the product is very pigmented, but what's the point if it wears off 10 hours later? The colors are nice, especially Superstar for medium/olive skin - its a punchy coral pink with a good balance of pink and coral tones- a very pretty, healthy blush color. Diva on me, is more of a clown-ish pink, and I will probably use this as a lip color as opposed to blush. Overall, probably wouldn't repurchase on the basis that the staying power isn't great and the product consistency is a hit or miss; I'd rather get myself a MAC Cremeblend blush. However, definitely glad I tried this blush for myself, after reading all the hype!

Treatments (Eye) -Olay - Total Effects Eye Transforming Cream
rated 4 of 5
iamalovecat 11/12/2012 12:35:00 AM

I really like this as a drugstore eye cream..and reading the earlier reviews, I really hope they've not discontinued it! It has a nice moisturizing effect as well as brightening due to tiny gold shimmery flecks in the cream - but its not 'glittery' at all! I use this as my AM eye cream and it sets a nice moisturized base for concealer and brightens my eyes. Good consistency, works great for moisturizing and brightening eyes.

Blush -MAC - Just A Pinch Gel Blush
rated 5 of 5
iamalovecat 11/11/2012 10:46:00 PM

I have never tried gel blushes before this but decided to give this a go. I like this a LOT - this has to be one of my favorite blushes; its different from a MAC creme blush or Tarte's cheek stain in terms of formulation - its a very light consistency that goes on bare skin easily, applies sheer and can be built up. As for staying power, I find that I usually have to apply a powder blush over this in order for it to stay throughout the day. The color looks bright in the pot, but is so buildable and sheer, gives cheeks a 'just pinched' look. Bonus - looks great on the lips too, makes them look rosy and youthful!

Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles
rated 2 of 5
iamalovecat 11/11/2012 10:34:00 PM

I'm still on the hunt for an effective under-eye concealer. Right now I'm alternating between Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer (beige) and this Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser (medium). The Good - I like this over the BB because it doesn't settle into fine lines; also it has a more fluid consistency, whereas the BB is more 'paste-y'; it does it job covering up under eye circles...to an extent. The Not so Good - staying power is not good, esp if you don't set it with a powder; sometimes it leaves a slightly grayish cast; sponge applicator tip gets messy but it definitely could be worse. Would I buy this again? Only if L'oreal wasn't having a sale on their True Match.

Treatments -Garnier - Dark Spot Treatment
rated 3 of 5
iamalovecat 11/11/2012 10:22:00 PM

I'm pretty ambivalent to this product. I don't hate it, but I don't looooove it either. I use it once a day/AM as a serum after I wash my face, before putting on my moisturizer and it provides a nice moisturized feeling to my skin. I don't have super dark spots or uneven skin tone, but I have noticed that my skin looks brighter and it hasn't broken me out. My only gripe is that the metal tube sometimes can get little dents that causes product to escape (and the cream to oxidize to turn a brownish color). For the price, I have repurchased this at least twice but am keeping my options open.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rated 5 of 5
iamalovecat 11/11/2012 10:07:00 PM

THIS.....this is my HG mascara. Great formula, which not only leaves your lashes looking incredibly full and sexy, but it also has Vitamin E in it, which makes them look soft and natural looking. The way the brush is designed is awesome - this brush wand is slim and fits comfortably in your hand - the brush bristles are thick to give your lashes a full bodied look. I have repurchased this several times - in the past have tried the usual cult faves (diorshow, lancome hypnose, covergirl lashblast, benefit badgal, the maybelline in pink/green bottle) - but I ALWAYS come back to this.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Blush
rated 4 of 5
iamalovecat 8/9/2010 4:07:00 PM

Consistency- Powder blush Color- Pigmented (not as pigmented as NARS); a little goes a long way. Definitely a department store (aka more professional looking) blush. There is a very slight touch of shimmer. Wear- Lasts for about 8 hours give or take. Optional to set with translucent powder (lasts longer if set). Verdict - Definitely worth the money. The color is beautiful, great product and it lasts a long time.

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Concealer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
iamalovecat 8/9/2010 4:02:00 PM

Got this after hearing a few bloggers talk about this. I really like the consistency of this concealer- its very "mousse-y" (for lack of a better term) - not liquid, not powder but it does have a powdery feel when you apply. Coverage - medium coverage; stays on after setting with powder. Color Match - there are only a few shades so finding the right color is easy. Consistency- great; blends extremely well. Verdict- if you're looking for a cheaper concealer, this one definitely tops the list (L'oreal True Match is still a winner in my books though!)

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
rated 2 of 5
iamalovecat 1/14/2009 2:59:00 PM

'Meh'- this describes this product, forgettable, not worth the money and in this ridiculous huge brush that is too thick and not useful. I also tried CoverGirl's same big thick mascara (the orange one) and it is just as bad. Don't bother wasting your money on this, get something better.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Radiance Serum with Royal Jelly
rated 5 of 5
iamalovecat 12/22/2008 1:49:00 PM

So, after intensive research on serums, I settled on this Burt's Bee's radiance serum. It comes in a tiny bottle with a dropper and its recommended that you use 2-3 drops. I was so excited when I got this due to the rave reviews... I used it the first night under my moisturizer and when I woke up the next morning, although my skin was noticeably softer, plumper, there were a few small whiteheads.. HMM... So I tried it again the next night, this time, I just used the serum, and my regular eye cream and it was fine- My skin looks so young, soft, well rested- this is definitely worth the money, and is my new HG!! :]

Scrubs -Clean & Clear - Soft In-Shower Facial STEAM [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
iamalovecat 10/27/2008 1:46:00 PM

I love this product! I heard about it on some online beauty magazine blog and decided to give it a try (cmon, an in-shower FACIAL?). And after trying it, I fell in LOVE! This is such a great product, because it contains glycolic acid which is a great skin exfoliator. The best part about this product is the tingling sensation that you get when you leave the product on for a minute (like you're supposed to). It feels like its really opening up the pores and cleaning deep. I know its not me because I've received so many compliments on how glowing my skin looks after using this product. I use this twice a week in the shower. :] Highly recommended.
