Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Sweet Almond Oil
rated 4 of 5

I'll be documenting my almond oil usage here. My skin: normal, not much problem with visible pores except for my nose. Normal/combo skin, oily t-zone and cheeks get dry if I don't moisturizer or a while. The only place I get bad pimples and whiteheads is my upper lip. They occasionally pop up on my chin and lower forehead. They're not small pimples but not large either. I also get small bumps (don't even know if they're pimples) on my forehead but they're manageable and not noticeable so I don't really count them. In conclusion, skin with some blemishes but nothing horrible. Never had to wear foundation until some of them started scarring (just marks, not indentations). I started using jojoba oil as a morning and night cleanser. I used to use normal drugstore scrubs and cleansers, and not particularly diligently. I've been very diligent with jojoba for about two months and it wasn't a miracle product for me, but it definitely helped regulate the oil around my T zone. Still occasional pimples, but no big hulking whiteheads that I used to deal with. With jojoba, I was looking for that purge moment! I know it sounds weird, but I wanted my skin to get inflamed so I'd know that I was just purging and it'd be over soon and I'd be on my way to beautiful, clear skin... I'm hoping that's what's happening right now. I've been using half jojoba, half almond oil in my routine for about a week now. I skipped one night of the routine and am hoping that the three whiteheads that popped up on my upper lip and chin are not a result of that, but of purging. I'll be updating my OCM routine here.

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Schick Hydro Silk Razor
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 6/23/2012 3:01:00 PM

For now, this is my HG razor! The razor fits very nicely in my hand and feels secure, not flimsy. With water, the razor releases a cream-gel so you don't need to use shaving cream! I just use a bar of soap for added moisture. The shave itself is very easy and smooth so it doesn't even feel like you're shaving. I took away one lippie because it does seem like the razor head lasts as long as the Quattro, which is a bummer because it is a bit more expensive than other razors.

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Deep Clean Long-Last Shine Control Daily Scrub
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 6/14/2012 4:44:00 AM

I have combination skin: cheeks can get dry, but not usually if I moisturize regularly. Problem T-zone (oily upper lip, in between eyebrows) that breaks out. I thought trying to control the oil build-up might improve my breakouts there. I also prefer using a gentle scrub to a cleanser because I have milia. I haven't tried any products specifically for oil control, so this product popped out to me. It's helped control shine, there is significantly less oil buildup during the day. I also love the smell! It's fresh, clean, yet slightly feminine. The one really great thing about the scrub is that it doesn't dry out my skin like most products (even if they're advertised as won't dry out skin) do!!

Lips -E.L.F. - Luscious Liquid Lipstick - Perfect Pink
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 6/6/2012 1:01:00 AM

OT: I didn't have the problem that the other reviewer did--my packaging was just like the other ones. I don't think that that type of thing should thing should factor into a rating, when obviously that isn't going to happen to every tube (and just as likely to happen to any other color). That doesn't help other MUA-ers, does it? REVIEW: I love the e.l.f. LLL's because they are more pigmented than other glosses and my lips are pretty pigmented compared to my skin tone. The pink is just okay, it adds more of just a pink tint to my lips which is nice, although not what I was looking for (a lighter pink--will prob have to check out the rest of the line). Overall it's a shade that's nice for summer and brightens the face nicely.

Palettes -New York Color - On Location Complete Makeup Kit
rated 2 of 5
foxieq 8/15/2011 12:42:00 AM

Seems that ALL palettes are only good on lighter coloring, EVEN basic brown! Either that or if you have a cooler skin tone, it features all shades that will look chalky! Skip this kit if you have a neutral or warm skin tone. The colors are not flattering.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Trio in Almond Truffles
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 6/18/2011 7:01:00 AM

The colors are much lighter than what you see in the picture, as I learned when I received these in the mail! These are literally a "day" eyeshadow for me. Without primer, these shadows barely show up on my slightly tan skin but add enough color and pigment to add depth and dimension to my eyes. These are good shadows I would apply mindlessly looking my car overhead window. I feel the shades could be better utilized on fairer skin. For me, they are good to have on the go in case I need a quick application without worrying about precision.

Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Lip Gloss - Cherry Bomb
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 6/18/2011 6:53:00 AM

Today I was digging through my lipgloss box and decided to try this gloss that I had gotten as a gift from a friend. Let me say that this lip gloss is not very pigmented -- to my delight. It offers subtle shimmer and sheen. If you're looking for the deep red that is in the tube, you will NOT get that at all. I understand that this looks different on different people. My lips are somewhat pigmented and a natural pink color, so the gloss made a perfect playful yet everyday casual pink color. I loved it! It is a bit on the sticky side, but I was wearing an updo anyway :)

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - WetSlicks Amazemint
rated 5 of 5
foxieq 6/18/2011 6:49:00 AM

I love these glosses! They are perfect for everyday looks because the colors are more like tints which are super flattering, I can apply a little and smooth it around and it moisturizes and freshens my lips, plus it's not sticky. I have about half of the possible shades and will continue to buy more. I haven't found a shade I didn't like!

Mascara -Maybelline - Pulse Perfection Waterproof [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 6/18/2011 6:44:00 AM

This is not a mascara where you can just swipe it on without looking in the mirror and go (for me, those types of mascaras are Full n Soft, Voluminous, LashBlast) but if you take the time to make this mascara work, the payoff is really, really good. This mascara is to me, very similar to Covergirl's LashExact Waterproof. Both mascaras are quite long lasting but are prone to a bit of smudging. They are very waterproof, however, and need a specialized eye makeup remover to get off. Many times I hold this brush at an angle and use the vibration. I find that this really defines, lengthens, and separates the lash better than holding it simply perpendicular to your lashline. This also helps eliminate clumps while maximizing length. My lashes aren't straight Asian lashes, but they're not all too long or curly either. This holds curl very well and gives nice definition without looking too over the top. With this mascara I can skip eyeshadows and liners yet still achieve drama and highlight my eyes.

Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Liquiline Blast in Blackfire
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 1/4/2011 2:46:00 AM

This is a pretty good pencil liner that gets liquid-like (keyword like) results. This is the first of its kind that I've ever used, and while I'm definitely not going to say it's HG, it will certainly hold me over until I find the next best thing for me. If you want a longer lasting line, of course set it with a powder or eyeshadow. This is CRUCIAL is you want a bold line. The consistency is very soft and smooth, so be careful when you're applying (to not overdo!). You don't need the best precision but it's not hard to get a nice, bold, attractive line. Complaints are that even with the smudger and tip, the pencil is relatively small. Also seems to run out pretty quick. I sharpen the pencil but it will significantly dull within 2-3 uses. I don't know about anybody else but I don't use the smudger at all. What's the use of a liquid look if it's just gonna get smudged? Otherwise a great liner to try out. Has great wearability and removes easily with simple facial cleanser and water.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
rated 2 of 5
foxieq 12/22/2010 8:58:00 PM

I don't know why, maybe I got a bad tube, but this was a horrible mascara for me. I was debating between this on the Colossal -- I love Voluminous, Full n Soft, Lash Blast, so I decided to try out one of Maybelline's newer mascaras. For me, this was quite hard to apply! The formula was somewhat clumpy and didn't reach a lot of lashes in a swipe. A lot of the formula got on my lids as well. It reminded me of MegaLash by Wet 'n Wild, meaning not good at all. The only good thing is that it seems relatively buildable, albeit you'll have a lot of separating to do. EDIT: This mascara is just horrible for me. All these lashes look so amazing in the pics! But mine get clumpy and uneven, lashes stuck together. In addition, the washable formula smudges so much! Yes, I do think I have naturally teary eyes, but no other non-WP mascara has given me this much trouble -- or raccoon eyes. Easily one of the worst i've ever used.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Amazemint - Everything's Rosy
rated 5 of 5
foxieq 12/7/2010 11:05:00 PM

On medium skin, this is a great, natural-looking, everyday pink. The pink is flattering, not overly shiny nor overly pigmented. Gives a sheer, fresh wash and is quite moisturizing. Plus it's not sticky! Basically everything I could ask for in a great daily lipgloss. I love the Amazemint lipglosses; this is my third one after Freedom of Peach and Slaphappy and I want them in every shade!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Beige Blast
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 12/7/2010 11:00:00 PM

This is the PERFECT topcoat color for a nice french mani. I was looking at Target for a sheer beige color to go over the nice tips I'd done with those nail polish markers. This was such as great color and dried very smoothly! I use this exclusively for french manicures which is why I understand why some people complain about it being so sheer. I haven't had any problems with the streaks and I quite like the brush as well. It applies very well and evenly on properly prepped nails!

Palettes -E.L.F. - Beauty Book - Smoky Eye Edition
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 10/26/2010 10:56:00 PM

I got this for $3 on Target.com for a one-day sale. I had seen these in my local Target and the concept of having eye shadows in a "book" was intriguing, but I could never bring myself to buy a book. I'll probably be going back for the other beauty books because they'll look very cute lined up on my bureau! So as people have said, there are twelve shades. There are five that are in a greyscale for a cool smokey eye, and seven shades that would work for a warmer smokey or can be used as everyday shades. I own the e.l.f. Studio single black shade and I haven't had great experience with it but this one is actually quite pigmented in comparison. I particularly like the medium brown shades and the butternut color. I didn't think it would look great but actually gives a nice glow to tan skin! The only colors that don't do much for me are the two lighter gray shades, but those shades have never really worked for me anyway. Overall, the palette is good for your money. The eyeliner is not recommended if you have watery eyes and it's so short you'll use it up quickly anyway. The shadows are quite powdery so be on the more conservative side when you apply and try to build on. The lasting power is okay but I've noticed some fading so you should definitely used a primer. ALSO, all of the shades seem to have shimmer. Good for day, but I know many people who won't go near that for day!

Bronzers -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Sheerest Cream Bronzer in Rio Glow
rated 4 of 5
foxieq 10/16/2010 3:41:00 AM

This product has been discontinued, but I picked this up at the local Dollar Tree a few days ago. I've been wanting to try out Carmindy's line (I was a big fan of What Not to Wear back in the day) but never wanted to shill out the money at the drugstore. Even though this is the darkest shade (and I'm clearly not very dark), I prefer heavy duty bronzers anyway. The packaging is rather nice -- no heavy logo, just a clear window into the shade. It's an adobe color. One side of the case opens up to the product, the other side opens up to a nice mirror with brush cleaner and decent brush. The brush is very nice and you're going to have to use it. The brush is very good for contouring, and seeing this is a darker shade, it comes in handy. If you're not dark but using this dark bronzer, definitely lightly sweep the product onto the brush, don't drag it across or you're going to get a lot of pigment without the ability to build up the color. The angled brush helps you contour the product. I apply it to my cheekbones, and as the color dies out extend it to the apples of my cheeks. Then I basically border my jawline and hairline for a nice glow and tan. The consistency is easy and blendable, unlike Wet n Wild's mega glow. You can use your fingers to blend it as well.
