Foundations -Smashbox - High Definition Healthy FX Foundation
rated 2 of 5

This made my skin look so oily, I have combination skin and even tho I used a smashbox primer and halo setting powder it still looks like an oily mess after a few hours. I hate the feeling of this, and it turns orange on my skin. The only pro is the pump, and the fact that it might work for someone with dry skin.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 8/18/2011 7:04:00 PM

I purchased this foundation after using Revlons colorstay for the past year and I started feeling like it was just looking too mask like. Don't get me wrong I love colorstay, but I just started feeling like it was looking too cakey on me and I started noticing a lot of streaking. I wanted to find a nice, light feeling foundation, that produced a medium to full coverage. I have never used MAC foundations, so I decided to go into MAC without any makeup on and ask the makeup artist to color match me. After all the reviews I saw on here I told her I'm interested in the Studio fix. She applied prep and prime and then applied NW20 on me. The color is a great match, I feel like the foundation doesn't oxide on me or turn orange like some of the reviewers have said. I've been using it with prep and prime and setting it with MSF, with these two the foundation lasts all day and looks airbrushed. My skin is combination, and I have an oily tzone, I'm also warm toned but I get a lot of redness on my cheeks and nose. I have some minor breakouts and spots, and I also have huge pores in my skin tone. This foundation paired with prep and prime and MSF completely takes care of all those problems. It covers redness so well I barely need any concealer. I find it to be medium coverage, but you can build it up to full coverage in certain areas without looking cakey. I hated how with revlon colorstay if you wanted to layer it, the foundation would just end up looking like a cakey, patchy mess. Studio fix fluid blends so flawlessly, it's so easy to work with, I apply it with my sigma f40 brush and it looks airbrushed! It comes off matte, but still leaves a slight glow on my skin which I love. I noticed it feels really light on me compared to the revlon color stay, and it looks completely natural even tho it covers everything up. The price is kind of high, but with how little you need it'll last a long time, plus I don't wear makeup everyday. I haven't had any breakouts but then again I wash my face well and don't wear this every day. If you're new to MAC foundations I suggest reading all the reviews on here and researching all the different ones they offer, then go to MAC completely barefaced (I know it's hard lol) and ask the makeup artist to match you to the one you're interested in. If it doesn't workout you can always return since MAC has a great return policy.

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 8/18/2011 6:30:00 PM

This is my very first NARS blush, after being stuck choosing between Orgasm and Deep throat I decided to go with DT since Orgasm seems more glittery and I heard deep throat is more pigmented. This is a beautiful blush and it makes my NW20 skin glow. It has some light gold shimmer, but it doesn't really show up on me and leaves my skin looking dewy and fresh. I recently purchased MACs dainty but after comparing it with DT I felt like they were very similar so I returned it. Deep throat shows up peachy pink on my skin tone but it looks really natural on me and kind of warms up my complexion. It blends in very nicely and since it's well pigmented I don't have to use too much.

Bronzers -Too Faced - Chocolate Soleil
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 8/18/2011 3:38:00 PM

I was in search of a matte, non-orange, bronzer and after reading all the great reviews on here I decided to head to Sephora and try chocolate soleil. The bronzer comes in a gorgeous compact, that includes a mirror and has that typical too faced victorian look, that's one of the reasons I love too faced, all of their packaging is SO CUTE and reminds me of something Marie Antoinette would use (: But just because I love the packaging doesn't mean it instantly gets a high rating from me. So at Sephora I tried several different bronzers including the benefit hoola and decided the chocolate soleil was a better choice for me. Chocolate soleil is a beautiful, pure matte bronzer. There is absolutely no orange that shows up on my skin tone (I'm NW 20) it just leaves a beautiful bronzed look. When I use a self tanner I never use any on my face, so my body is bronzed but I'm left with a pasty face. I love to use this bronzer to lightly sweep on to my face and even out my tan. This also makes an excellent contour color since it's matte. I feel like it's universal and will work nicely as a contour and bronzer, it just depends on how you apply it and how much you use.

Lipstick -MAC - Fleshpot lipstick
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 6/2/2011 4:44:00 PM

This is the first lipstick I purchased from MAC. I am after very nude lipsticks, and since I'm cool tone I needed to find a good nude lipstick with cooler undertones. Most nude lipsticks I own have a peachy undertone which tends to wash me out but this definitely does the trick for me. The lipstick is flesh colored but has a nice pink undertone to it. It is very pigmented so you don't need a lot of it, I literally just apply it and kind of blend it in with my fingers for a more muted, natural look. I use my MAC liner in Nude so it helps with keeping the lipstick in place all day. I also tend to pair it with a nice pink tone gloss as it helps to minimize the "concealer look". I know a lot people complain it's too drying and it tends to emphasize the cracks in their lips but the key to avoiding that is MOISTURIZE. By that I mean every night before you go to bed put on a good lip treatment ( I use one by avon). Also every 2 days or so exfoliate your lips by rubbing them with a towel just after you get out from the shower, this will take off any dead skin and soften your lips. The most important step is to put a light lip balm before you apply this lipstick, I use one by soft lips, after I do my foundation I apply a small amount and massage it into my lips since over applying will just make the lipstick slide off, key here is to apply just a small amount, then I do the rest of my makeup and let the lipbalm soak into my lips, I apply my lip liner and then this lipstick, lastly I finish with a gloss and that's it, should solve the dry lip issue. I know it's a lot of work for a lipstick, but the color looks so beautiful on me it's way worth it. Also it's a bit expensive for me but it will last forever since it's so pigmented you don't need to use a lot.

Hair -Sacha Cosmetics - Sally - Hair One Hair Cleanser and Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 5/31/2011 4:09:00 AM

I recently decided to bleach my colored dark brown hair and lift it to almost a white bunny blonde shade. As you all know bleach can be very damaging, especially on your scalp and I have very fine hair that's naturally straight, after bleaching it with a 40 v developer twice, I was left with a scabbed scalp, and severely damaged hair. Since I already do once a week protein/moisture treatments, use coconut oil religiously, and use aphogee on a monthly basis, I decided I needed to find a good shampoo and conditioner I can use for normal non-treatment days. I tend to only wash my hair 3 times a week maximum. I visited my local sallys and found this on sale, I think it was like $10.99 with the beauty card. I picked the tea tree for the dry scalp since I figured it would help with my badly damaged scalp. I followed the directions, except I actually used less product since I don't have a lot of hair. and I actually took my time massaging the product in, in my experience it felt very relaxing and I heard it's good to massage your scalp because it stimulates hair growth. I didn't really feel the tingling until I started rinsing and even then it was mild and I actually enjoyed it since i'm a fan of minty fragrances. My hair felt so soft and smooth in the shower, it literally felt like silk. After towel drying my hair, I did not use this as a leave in, instead I just used my regular leave in spray, and argan oil as my serum. I blew dried my hair, and my hair just felt super soft and had a lot more shine then when I used to use regular shampoo and conditioner. After about a week my scalp completely healed and all the scabs disappeared. I really do enjoy this, I know some people say all the massaging is a hassle, but I see it as relaxing and I enjoy taking long showers so it's not a con for me. I would like everyone to note that I do clarify my hair weekly with the V05 kiwi lime squeeze shampoo, so if you're experiencing build up try clarifying or switching between this and regular shampoos and conditioners.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Fairest Nude
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 3/22/2011 3:04:00 PM

I bought this after watching a youtube guru sccastaneda rave about this. I get a very pretty, pink nudy lip after using this. It's glides on smoothly and I feel like it actually moisturizes my lips. I also love the packaging it comes in.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Carbon Black Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
fkngabi 3/22/2011 3:00:00 PM

This is a good, affordable drugstore eyeliner. I'm really bad at applying eyeliner to my top lash line, but since this has a felt tip applicator it makes it so much easier to control. I get the perfect cat eye look when using this. It's also very pigmented and you get a nice shiny black color.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Fresh Start Dry Shampoo for Oily/Straight to Normal Hair
rated 2 of 5
fkngabi 3/22/2011 2:55:00 PM

I bought this a while ago, hoping I can use it on days when I don't wash my hair or after the gym. I never really used a dry shampoo, but after using this I feel like it does not do what I expected a dry shampoo to do. I have thin, brown hair, and after using this, I feel like my hair looks worse than it did before. I tried using it different ways and it just leaves my hair sticky, and dirty looking. Very disappointed with this.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - One n' Only - Argan Oil Treatment
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 3/22/2011 2:48:00 PM

I received a bottle of this for free at Sallys beauty supply by using the March coupon. I've never tried the brand name Moroccan oil but after using this for about a week I feel it does everything I expected it to do. My hair is really thin and there's not a lot of it, it's also damaged and I have tons of split ends since I don't get trims because I'm trying to grow it out. I've used biosilk, chi silk infusion, Paul Mitchell skinny serum, pureology serum and pretty much most of the higher end serums on my hair and none of them have made my hair look as good as this does!!! I use about a dime size amount, after I detangle my wet hair, and concentrate mostly on the ends and then spread it throughout my hair avoiding the root area. This does make my hair dry faster when blow drying. Usually my hair gets frizzy and tangled after I blow dry, but when I use this it looks shiny and smooth. After I flat Iron my hair, it looks so healthy and silky, I can't believe it's my hair. I definitely recommend this for someone who has damaged hair, and wants it to look healthy and shiny again. I will continue to repurchase but I imagine this little bottle will last me for a really long time.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 3/17/2011 6:06:00 PM

I bought mine at vitamin shoppe for 9$. I recommend only purchasing the extra virgin unrefined coconut oil to ensure it's pure. I use coconut oil mainly as a pre-treatment on my hair. What I do is scoop out about a teaspoon full and distribute it all through my dry hair (I know some people wet their hair, but I feel like it works better when used on dry hair) I also massage some onto my scalp. Then I cover my hair with a plastic bag and use a blow dryer periodically to ensure the coconut oil absorbs into my hair. Sometimes I tend to just leave it on over night. Next morning I just wash off using V05 clarifying shampoo. I have never had a problem with my hair looking greasy, and I have very fine hair. However I do make sure to shampoo very well, and take my time rinsing. I use coconut oil about once a week, or whenever I'm gonna be doing a treatment on my hair. I heard coconut oil is one of the only oils proven that actually can get into the hair cuticle, and I see a lot of improvement in my hair since I've started using this. I can't say for sure it's just the coconut oil alone, since I have been doing protein and moisturizing treatments along with using coconut oil. I highly recommend this, it's inexpensive and there is so many uses for it.

Self Tanners -St.Tropez - St.Tropez Tinted Self Tanning Mousse/Whipped Bronze
rated 4 of 5
fkngabi 3/16/2011 9:46:00 PM

I ordered this directly from the st.tropez website, and received a free applicator mitt by purchasing the 8ml bottle. Upon applying it the first time, I made sure to exfoliate my skin in the shower, and applied moisturizer to areas of my body that tend to get too dark such as my elbows, knees, ankles, toes and between my fingers. The application was easy, but it took some getting used to. I waited 10 minutes before getting dressed, and then went to sleep. The next morning I showered off the excess tan and I was left with a beautiful, bronzed look. This is the best color I have ever achieved using a self tanner! It even looks better than when I used to use tanning beds. Even tho I do love this so much, I am disappointed by the price, the 8 ml bottle is 40$ and will probably get me 8 applications at most, the self tanner only last 4-6 days on me, so I tend to use this only on special occasions or when i want to look nicely tanned. I wish it was cheaper, I'm gonna try to find a cheaper dupe for this.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
rated 3 of 5
fkngabi 3/16/2011 9:27:00 PM

This is a great eyeliner but it's not my HG, I'm still searching... This eyeliner does not have good staying power, I tend to have to set it with an eyeshadow, it also likes to smudge very easily and doesn't stay put all day. What I like about it is the fact that it's well pigmented, glides on easily and doesn't irritate my eyelids.

Palettes -Urban Decay - Book of Shadows Vol. III
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 3/16/2011 9:21:00 PM

This is one of my favorite palettes. The packaging is super creative, the eye shadows are very pigmented, and the overall color range is great. I can easily create dramatic nighttime looks, and neutral daytime looks. This palette comes with 2 good size eyeliners and a sample size of primer potion. I enjoy all the eye shadows, but Uzi and Midnight cowboy rides again are two that tend to annoy me because of the fallout,

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 5 of 5
fkngabi 3/16/2011 9:08:00 PM

This is a must have for me, I use it every time I wear an eyeshadow. Makes eyeshadow stay put all day, prevents creasing and makes colors look more vibrant. The only drawback is the price and packaging.
