Conditioner -Alberto Vo5 - Strawberries & Cream smoothing conditioner
fihe 4/30/2013 2:43:00 AM
Cheap yet great conditioner! I recently bought some to use for my new co-washing method. I love that VO5's conditioners are easily obtainable, very reasonably priced, have a consistency on the thin side (too thick would make my hair too heavy), don't contain silicones, and come in many varieties! co-washing with this conditioner makes my hair feel light so that the natural waves and curls can show through. I do need a little extra on my ends to sufficiently moisturize them, but that's just fine with me. of course, the smell is also quite nice! on my last shopping trip, I bought this along with three other VO5 conditioners. let's see how I like those!

Treatments -Acne.org - Treatment
fihe 3/17/2013 10:01:00 PM
Wonderful product! an 8 oz. tube costs $16.52 plus shipping, but it is nevertheless an excellent deal for how much you get. before using this, I started the acne.org regimen with Neutrogena On the Spot, which I found to be too drying. fortunately, acne.org's BP treatment is in a gel form that is not overdrying at all! it also can be used under makeup. I used to use mine twice a day but now just use it every night. now that I use this in my skincare regimen, my face is almost completely clear! but even when I forget to apply it for one night, my skin starts to break out a little, so I must be diligent with it.

Hair Color -Clairol - Professional Premium Creme Demi Permanent
fihe 3/6/2013 1:30:00 AM
ugh, I should have read these reviews beforehand. I bought this in 4N Light Natural Brown. it comes out as a dark brown, but I buy "light brown" demi-permanent hair colors knowing that they run quite dark. I've only colored my hair once before, using the Ion demi-perm hair color in 5N Light Natural Brown (it runs dark even for a demi), but there was a promo at Sally's so I thought I'd try the Clairol. I last colored my hair at the end of December, and while my hair still looked pretty dark, after a while some brassiness started to peek through, plus my roots were growing in. I used the Clairol just yesterday and my roots look a little darker after color, as they should, but not the dark brown that the Ion color made them. I applied very well at the roots so I know it can't be from insufficient application. also, the roots look brassy! it's especially noticeable towards the front of my head, where my hair tends to look more blonde. the roots don't look much different from before I colored my hair, when the roots were growing out! I have light/medium brown hair naturally, with a lot of blonde and reddish tones to it, and I wanted to neutralize them without making my hair look too ashy, which is why I got the 4N instead of the 4A. but with the Clairol color making my roots so brassy, I'd hate to see how it would have turned out if I had used it on previously uncolored hair! Oh dear!

Lip Liners -Rimmel - 1000 Kisses Stay-on Lip Contouring Pencil in 049 Natural
fihe 1/27/2013 6:41:00 PM
I got this lipstick looking for something to go with my favorite brownish-pink lipstick, as well as something that could be used on its own to fill in my lips, to enhance the natural color. sadly, I didn't realize until after I bought it that it's too brown for both purposes. I've noticed that the Tiramisu lip liner is a rather similar color to Natural, but more pink, so that would probably work better. for those seeking an MLBB color, if Natural or Tiramisu are too light, I would check out Wild Clover or Spice. I think I will try one of those soon. as for the formula of this pencil, it's great, just like the other Rimmel 1000 Kisses lip liners I have. I have them in three colors (used to have a fourth) because they're inexpensive and do the job well.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Waterproof
fihe 1/16/2013 9:14:00 PM
about three years ago, I had this in the regular version, and now I have been using the waterproof, after not using any kind of waterproof mascara for three years either. I'm not sure how I dealt with it when I had the non-waterproof version, because the wand is so big and I always get smudging on my eyelid because the wand is difficult to maneuver. (maybe because I've been using mascaras with smaller, lighter wands since then.) fortunately, with the waterproof version, unlike regular mascaras that I've used that smudge, it wipes easily off skin if I smudge some. it also stays on the lashes pretty well; I remove it with mineral or olive oil. but I gave this mascara only a 3 not just because of the hard-to-control big wand, but also because it gives my lashes plenty of length, but little volume. I thought I remember Lash Blast Volume giving me more volume when I last used it a few years ago, unless my lashes have thinned out since then, or perhaps I have fewer! :( nevertheless, for something that's marketed as a volumizing mascara, I think it should do more. I'll keep on using it, but I need to be extra careful so as not to get it all over my eyelids.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
fihe 12/30/2012 3:59:00 AM
I actually bought this makeup when I was in high school, in the shade N2 Classic Ivory. I eventually either threw it away or gave it away in a swap, because back then it looked absolutely nasty on me. I now realize that I must have not been applying it properly. unfortunately, the bottle lacks a pump, which makes it easy to pour out way too much product. I also had been applying it either with my fingers or a dry foam sponge, and I always seemed to look like I was wearing a mask with this makeup.
fast forward a few years later. I saw a display of True Match at the drugstore, with testers! I thought I'd swatch some on my inner forearm (which is the same color as my neck, which I match my foundation to). I found that both W1 and W2 seemed to be good matches. I then decided to try N1 and C1, and they both looked wrong for my skin. I've realized over time that even though my skin isn't particularly yellow, a lot of foundations tend to look pink or orange on me, and apparently my N2 shade of True Match that I previously had was one of them.
so I eventually got the shade W2 Light Ivory in a swap, and it's a great match! I apply it with any kind of damp foundation brush, and I've also transferred it to a pump bottle for better control and less waste. (I took off a lippie due to the packaging.) it only looks cakey and mask-like if I use too much, like I accidentally did a few days ago. but yesterday I used just a little, and it looked great! even though it's expensive for a drugstore product, I think I would buy it again.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Clear
fihe 12/30/2012 3:46:00 AM
I use this product on my eyebrows. I bought it while my local CVS was having a sale on Maybelline products, plus I had a coupon :) this item replaced my Cover Girl Professional clear mascara. unfortunately, I don't care much for this product. the reason why is because of the packaging. I'm not talking about the green and pink colors on the tube, I mean the way the stopper and brush coordinate with each other. the brush is pretty small, and I feel like the stopper should be made so that it has a tighter grip on the brush as it is slid through the tube. I frequently have the problem of getting too much product on the brush, which initially makes my eyebrows "over-gelled", and then later in the day, I actually get a little bit of dandruff-like crust when the gel dries up. I don't think I ever had this problem with the Cover Girl mascara. however, I gave this mascara a 3 because I can make it work if I wipe off the excess gel from the wand onto the sides of the tube without making a huge mess, which is a little inconvenient. I'm supposing that the regular Great Lash mascara uses the same kind of packaging as the clear one, and if so, now I understand why a lot of people don't like it.

Conditioner -Finesse - Clean + Simple Hypoallergenic Conditioner for Normal Hair
fihe 12/28/2012 9:27:00 PM
I guess I'm the lone dissenter, but I really did not like this conditioner. I liked the idea of a "clean and simple" hair product, but unfortunately, this hardly moisturized my hair at all. after washing, my hair felt a bit "squeaky" where I had applied it, rather than soft. it has a different consistency from other conditioners. I don't have particularly dry hair, but sadly this product just didn't do it for me.

Shampoo -Finesse - Clean + Simple Hypoallergenic For Normal Hair
fihe 12/28/2012 9:26:00 PM
this was my second sulfate-free shampoo; my first one I ever used was the 365 (Whole Foods brand) Herbal Mint shampoo. it had a wonderful scent but was difficult to get into a lather. I know it's not the lather itself that cleans the hair, but if the shampoo lathers well, I feel like I don't need to use as much product to get it on all my hair. I actually prefer the consistency of the Finesse Clean + Simple shampoo over the 365 one, but the reason why I rated it as a 3 is because I didn't find it to be anything special. in contrast, my mom and brother apparently like it a lot, since they have been using this product ever since it came out. I wouldn't buy it again because I like to have matching shampoo and conditioner, and I was quite dissatisfied with the conditioner from this line.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Strawberry Sorbet
fihe 11/15/2012 7:32:00 PM
I've been using this stuff lately and actually have it next to me now :) I used to have the EOS Lemon Drop and it was pretty good, but it wore down in a funny way. now I use this lip balm more from the sides than the top so I will eventually get more product out of it. the egg shape, though bulky, is cute and prevents it from getting lost easily. but I only gave it 4 stars because I find that Carmex Ultra Smooth works much better for me; in fact, it seems to be the only thing that moisturizes my lips anymore.

Blush -Cat Cosmetics - Whiskers Blush
fihe 11/14/2012 12:17:00 AM
I have this in the Love Match palette with the Catnip bronzer and Eartha Cat eyeshadow duo. I'm not sure how exactly to describe the color, but I suppose you could say it is a coral-pink with gold. according to the website, it's supposed to look like NARS Orgasm. I need to apply it with a light hand or else it can look too bright on my pale skin. but it looks very nice, especially with the Catnip bronzer! I imagine this color looking great on all skin tones.

Liquid -Cover Girl - Natureluxe Liquid Silk foundation in 310 Flax
fihe 10/11/2012 2:10:00 AM
this foundation is pretty good. I like how it has light coverage and can be applied with the fingers or with a damp flat, stippling, or flat-top brush. it does have a fragrance but it's not strong like some of Cover Girl's other items with the Noxzema scent. the squeeze tube is sanitary and easy to use. I use the shade Flax, which appears to be the correct depth but is a little too pink. I've tried Alabaster but that is too light and pink on me; Flax looks better. I resent that many of Cover Girl's foundations run too pink, but I make this foundation work for me. I took off a lippie for the colors, but it is otherwise quite a good makeup.

Bronzers -Physicians Formula - Sunlight
fihe 10/10/2012 11:28:00 AM
although this bronzer says it's for medium to dark skin, I'm able to use it on my fair skin with a pretty good result. I normally use it for contouring, but sometimes I'll just use a little on my cheeks for a nice glow. I like how it has a happy sun in the middle :) I don't find it to be too orange or shimmery either. I use this almost every day, in rotation with my Physicians Formula Healthy Wear bronzer in Light.
