Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - Retinol Night ResQ
rated 5 of 5
drummagirl65 10/6/2009 12:12:00 AM

I bought this product after reading the reviews & I am so happy I did. Since my early teens (I am now in my early 20s) I have had oily, acne prone skin & clogged pores. Nothing I have tried has prevented blemishes (only treated them) or kept my skin as clear as this Retinol ResQ. I noticed a little bit of improvement after about a week but I knew that I needed to use this longer to see real results. I had two blemishes two weeks after starting this (hormonal, I think), & this plus benzoyl peroxide during the day (as to not cancel out the retinol in this at night) seemed to speed up the healing. The skin around my eyes STUNG around week 3 so I made sure to use moisturizer on those areas & use a bit less of this product, since a little does go a long way.. It has now been 3 months (only halfway done with the tube) & I have never been happier with my skin! My pores are significantly less clogged, my old acne scars are much less noticeable, my skin is smoother & more evenly toned, & I have had only a few blemishes that were probably hormonal but this product has helped the healing. As far as wrinkles & lines, I haven't noticed anything. I didn't buy this product for that but I figure it is a bonus if this is helping to prevent wrinkles. My mom wants to try it for her wrinkles & lines, so I hope she will be just as happy as I am.

Shampoo -SAMY - Dry Spray Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
drummagirl65 8/2/2009 5:17:00 PM

This product is great for my thick, oily hair. I can actually skip washing it for a day since it just soaks up the oil. I was worried that it would show up in my hair (it is dark brown/black), but that has not happened. I follow the directions on the can exactly & get on with my day!

Mascara -Max Factor - 2000 Calorie Mascara
rated 4 of 5
drummagirl65 8/2/2009 2:41:00 PM

I decided to try this mascara because of the reviews here, since I have never anything from Max Factor before. I am not as impressed as I hoped to be. I have to apply a very light coat if I want to hold a curl (& sometimes it doesn't hold anyway), & then add another coat which makes my long lashes look too fake. It thickens alright, but I will keep looking for something else. At least it does not clump or look too spidery. I hope to find something that holds a curl better & thickens more, & if not I will probably come back to this as it is still better than many other drugstore mascaras I've tried... but I will have to make a decision soon though as Max Factor won't be available in the US next year.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer - Noir
rated 3 of 5
drummagirl65 5/29/2009 1:10:00 AM

This was an okay eyeliner. It was super cheap and I got it BOGOF. This has wonderful staying power and is truly waterproof. I do love that the color was a pretty rick BLACK, and not a light black that would look gray on my skin. It is also retractable, which is great. The smudger that comes on the other end of the pencil is more of an eraser but that was a good thing for me considering my complaint: The line itself is too thick for my liking. I wish there was a sharpener or something to bring the liner to a point. It makes it hard for me to wing or make a thin line. I would recommend this if the thickness of the liner doesn't bother you, but I won't be repurchasing when I run out. UPDATE: Another reviewer pointed out to me that the if you pull out the end of the smudger, there is a sharpener on the end of it. I don't know how I overlooked this! I am having a little trouble using it since the liner is so soft, but I am sure I will be able to sharpen this to my liking, and create the thinner line I was hoping to do with this!

Toners -Earth Science - Clarifying Herbal Astrigent
rated 5 of 5
drummagirl65 5/1/2009 5:12:00 PM

I bought this on drugstore.com because I needed to buy a certain amount of things and this seemed like a good product to try (and if I didn't like it, it wasn't too expensive anyway) since it is all natural ingredients. Good thing I liked it! I needed a toner that wasn't drying, and this is perfect. I like the HA "film" left behind when I use this, my skin feels soft and moisturized. I have gone without moisturizer at night a few times by using this after cleansing (my skin is very oily). The smell is nice and light, and none of the (natural!) ingredients have broken me out. It has lasted me a while and there is still a lot left. I think that is in part to the cap on the bottle, since it doesn't oversoak the cotton ball with extra wasted product. The only thing I am not so sure of is the "clarifying" part of its name since I haven't noticed less clogged pores from this, but maybe that will happen over time.

Moisturizers -Clean & Clear - SOFT Oil-Free Moisturzer - Day ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
drummagirl65 4/16/2009 2:21:00 PM

This is an okay moisturizer. I got to Chicago (from my city and on my way to London) last summer and realized that I had forgotten moisturizer, so I picked this up at Walgreens close to the airport before leaving the country. The price was good and it had SPF so it seemed like the perfect quick solution. It also says it is oil-free, & has white tea in it. I am very acne prone, and this does not seem to break me out, which is surprising considering the long list of ingredients (many of which I do not even know what they are). I'm not sure if the amount of white tea does anything. I was afraid of the scent at first since I thought it might mean it could break me out, but it doesn't seem to have done that and it smells wonderful. Doesn't make me greasy, either. Also, as the bottle claims, it does make my face very soft. I don't think I would purchase this again because I only bought it for a quick fix, and the list of ingredients is so long & doesn't look great, but I will use the entire bottle before purchasing something else.

Nails -Sally Hansen - Nail Art Pens
rated 4 of 5
drummagirl65 4/9/2009 7:21:00 PM

I love this product! Since the pen is water based, it is a little weird to use at first because it's not like using actual polish. It is easy to fix mistakes without affecting polish underneath. You have to allow it to dry well before putting on topcoat so your design does not smear or disappear. The instructions are very clear on the box and pen. The downside to this product is the price, but I'm sure I will get the opportunity to buy more for less on sale at the drugstore.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Clear Pore Cleanser Mask
rated 5 of 5
drummagirl65 4/5/2009 11:14:00 PM

I used to use this everyday when I was younger, because my skin could take it. Since then, I started trying out other products (not because this didn't work, but because I just wanted to see if there was anything better out there) and eventually forgot about this. Thanks to MUA, I found this product again & I wonder why I ever stopped using it! My skin responds well to benzoyl peroxide, so this is great when I'm breaking out. I don't use this everyday like I used to, since my skin has changed a little and it would dry me out. I wash my face with this before bed (and use a less drying cleanser in the morning), and my face feels so soft and clean. The mask is great for my pimples and for a deep clean for my whole face. I wouldn't recommend this to someone with dry or sensitive skin, but if your skin reacts well to benzoyl peroxide, this product is for you!

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Champagne
rated 5 of 5
drummagirl65 3/23/2009 12:26:00 AM

I LOVE this. I have been using this eyeshadow for YEARS (& I can't say that about many products). I use it as a highlighter and all over color. It goes with almost anything, and has just the right amount of shimmer. I hope this is never discontinued!

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Body Essence Olive & Honey Exfoliating Body Wash
rated 5 of 5
drummagirl65 3/23/2009 12:12:00 AM

I found this body wash by accident, and am so glad I did. It smells wonderful, and is not harsh or drying for me. You get sooooo much product for a price that can't be beat. I'm not sure I like the pump bottle, as I keep this in a hanging shower organizer & have to take it out and set it on the side of the shower to use. I've had it for months and am only halfway through the bottle, so I'm not sure when I'll get around to repurchasing.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Bic Soleil disposable razors
rated 4 of 5
drummagirl65 2/19/2009 4:35:00 PM

I seem to be in the minority here, but I loved these razors. They gave me a close, smooth shave with no cuts. The handle is great since it is easy to grip in the shower. I also love the colors! These are a lot cheaper than many other disposable razors. I felt bad about how much trash using disposable razors generate, so I recently switched to the regular Soleil razor with cartridges.

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Angled Eye Shadow Brush
rated 5 of 5
drummagirl65 2/1/2009 5:42:00 PM

I love this brush! It is not as thin as an eyeliner brush is, but it still works for that, especially to create a smoky eye look. I love how versatile it is. Not only do I use it to line my eyes, but I also use it for eye shadow and for my eyebrows. It's soft & sturdy. Best of all, it was cheap!

Hair -TRESemme - Big Boost Root Lift Spray
rated 2 of 5
drummagirl65 1/3/2009 9:10:00 PM

I had high hopes for this product. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any great results with this root lifter. I have tried it several times, hoping each time that something goes right. When applying this product to my roots before blow drying my hair upside down, I don't find that I have much more volume than just blow drying it alone. My roots get greasy by the middle of the day. Like others who have already reviewed this, I don't like that the second ingredient is Alcohol Denat. I hope to find a good root lifting spray elsewhere.
