Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Black Out
rated 4 of 5
drinkmoresoup 5/27/2009 9:56:00 PM

I'm not a nail polish junkie or pro, so don't take my review too seriously if you are. I picked this polish up because I'm tired of not being able to wear my nails painted. For some reason my nails just do not look right when I paint them. It's not my technique or anything. I think it is the shape of my nails more than anything. They are larger than most other girls' nails I have seen. Anyway, I remembered back to my "punk" times in high school and I always wore black polish with no problem. So I picked this up because it was cheap. I'm glad I did. I painted my nails just now and they look great. I think I can wear black because they make the surface area of my nails look smaller. And it's more opaque so mistakes aren't as obvious. The only reason I docked a lippy is because I don't like having to apply a ton of the polish to achieve the opaque look. It goes on very watery and clearish gray at first. But maybe it's just a bad bottle because no one else seems to have this issue.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Diamond lust sheer shadow--all shades
rated 4 of 5
drinkmoresoup 5/11/2009 7:01:00 PM

I bought the Diamond Lust in Champagne Buzz when it first came out (I am guessing it was 2 or so years ago??) I love it. It's a great base shadow and I love how sparkly it looks. Diamond Lust is a very fitting name! I use my finger to apply it on the lid up to my brows. It looks wonderful in a smokey eye look or a natural day look with just a bit more jazz. I docked a star because I do think it could have a bit more pigment and staying power, but it's one of my top 3 shadows!

Eyeliner -New York Color - Liquid Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
drinkmoresoup 5/11/2009 6:52:00 PM

I picked up this NYC liquid eyeliner in Jet Black only two weeks ago. I have to say that I really enjoy it. I have never been able to wear liquid eyeliner. I always became frustrated with attempting application. It would get everywhere and not look perfect as I wanted it to look. I've been unhappy with my regular eyeliner lately...just want more "pop." I decided to give liquid another chance. This is the first one I picked up to try again and it is awesome! Since it is liquid, it is very easy to apply and doesn't require me to hold my lid taut or take forever to build up application without tugging. I just look down into a mirror and very carefully do small lines along the lash line until I have one complete line. Voila! I have had no problems whatsoever with flaking. If I rub my eye it will rub off, but that's expected. Other than that, it looks great ALL DAY! And I appreciate the longer applicator brush. It allows me to apply more product at once and I also believe it helps those who may not be as experienced applying liquid eyeliners. Watch some YouTube tutorials and you will get some great tips on how to apply liquid liners.

Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Mama Bee (by Burt's Bees) Belly Balm
rated 4 of 5
drinkmoresoup 1/30/2008 6:11:00 PM

I'm giving this belly butter 4 stars because it is pretty much all-natural and I know that it will last a while. It also has really great ingredients and if you research them, you will only find good things. HOWEVER, this stuff is a job spreading on. I don't know if I got a bad batch or what, but it takes me a good few minutes to get this spread around evenly. They really need to add something to the formula to make it spread more evenly and readily. It just kind of stays in one place when you're trying to rub it in and you have to rub and rub for it to eventually spread evenly enough so that you do not see it anymore. Another thing is the awful smell. I wish they hadn't added fragrance because it may have smelled better without it. The smell is too strong and floral-like for me. And it gives me a headache. It's gross, in my opinion. And...as another reviewer said, hours later you can touch your belly and it will still be there...sticky, greasy, whatever you want to call it. This may be a plus to some, but to me it is a con. I think that lots of other products seem to disappear because they are actually being absorbed. It makes me wonder with this stuff seeming to stay for so long...is it really being absorbed into the skin? Or is it just sitting there acting as a barrier? And I can't wear clothes until it's finally gone and that is usually after I've rubbed the remainder off. Palmer's doesn't have the best ingredients (I much prefer Mama Bee's list), but I like how I can rub it on and in about a half an hour it's all absorbed. I'm sure some of it air dries, but at least some of it sinks into the skin. It does bother me that it contains mineral oil because that sort of prevents absorption from what I have read. So, the plus is that this contains a lot of great ingredients that are great for the skin, it will last forever, and doesn't contain some of the nasties most other products contain--ie. mineral oil, alcohols, etc.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Fantastic Lash [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
drinkmoresoup 2/8/2006 11:05:00 PM

I love the packaging on this. I think it's so cute! As for the mascara...I think it most definitely performs. I honestly have not found too many mascaras that I didn't think deserved at least three lippies. I think it's mostly all in application. This does not clump my lashes one bit, but it can and will if you hurry through application and apply a bazillion coats at once. You must be patient with mascara! Anyway, I like this. It's not perfect, but I think it's great and I will definitely re-purchase! :-)

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
drinkmoresoup 2/8/2006 10:58:00 PM

I won't buy this again. I got this because of reviews and the BOGO deal @ Walgreens. I used to break out on my temples with little bumps and I haven't broken out there in a long time...few months. After a few days of using this, I now have two pimples on one of my temples and other clogged pores (but not pimples yet). I was really disappointed in this. I had to use J&J as a make-up remover at night prior to using this (this stuff absolutely DOES NOT remove any make-up whatsoever) and my skin was always left flaky. I used to have oily skin but after having my baby it is usually on the dry side with some flakage that disappears after my skin oils up some. I thought that the J&J was drying me out, but I didn't use the Cetaphil a few times and just used J&J and the flakes were slim to barely there. Whereas, when I was using the Cetaphil...I had major roughage! It could be the combination, but then Cetaphil still would suck for those that use make-up and have to use a separate remover. I think using two cleansers (one for make-up removal) back to back is too harsh and therefore, I only recommend Cetaphil if you do not use makeup at all. And, I too experienced a very slight burning sensation if I left this on my skin for too long. I also found that after using J&J some of the oils in my nose and surrounding areas had risen to the surface, whereas with Cetaphil I experienced no such "deep cleansing".

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Aqua Paradise
rated 4 of 5
drinkmoresoup 2/8/2006 10:49:00 PM

Aqua Paradise looks fantastic in the pan! I was tempted to buy it even before reading reviews, but I have bluish-green eyes and similar shadows don't always look the best on me. I am just slightly disappointed in this as I have to use a fingertip to apply to get the intensity that I want...otherwise it will barely show up on my PPP skin. I haven't tried applying it wet yet. But I do love this color. Looks great if I pair it with the right blush and clothing!

Lip Gloss -Sonia Kashuk - Lip Gloss
rated 5 of 5
drinkmoresoup 2/7/2006 7:58:00 PM

WHOA! Harsh reviews on this gem I found! I'm surprised!!! Honestly! I think maybe they were re-formulated...obviously. I find that it *feels* like it has disappeared, but when I look into the mirror there is still that shiney pink gloss (got mine in First Date)!!! This is ABSOLUTELY the best gloss I have purchased. It goes on smoothly and has a slightly sticky texture, which I don't mind. I would give it four lippies for it not lasting as long as it could/should, but this has honestly lasted longer on my lips than any other gloss I have tried. Great color selection too, and I got mine on clearance for $3! Would DEFINITELY re-purchase!

Lip Gloss -Sonia Kashuk - Lip Glossing lipgloss in First Date
rated 4 of 5
drinkmoresoup 2/5/2006 11:29:00 PM

Just picked this up tonight. It's a beautiful color. Okay staying power. I would have given it 5 lippies, but I prefer balmy textures rather than sticky. But, I would definitely buy again!

Skincare - Body -Johnson & Johnson - Head to Toe baby wash
rated 4 of 5
drinkmoresoup 1/29/2006 11:50:00 PM

I got this for 44 cents at Target. It's a 9 oz. bottle (not the pump--I have a 1-year-old and it is safer not to buy pump-style products with him around). I love this for cleaning my make-up brushes and also cleansing my face occasionally. I'm always switching between cleansers, so I can't testify to the long-term effects of using this twice per day, but it does take every trace of make-up off and it leaves your face feeling clean and fresh. A tad on the drying side, but since having my son I have dry skin (used to have oily/combo skin). Would re-purchase.

Styling Products -Aussie - Sprunch Spray
rated 4 of 5
drinkmoresoup 1/28/2006 12:42:00 AM

I like this. I was just using regular gel mixed with water to "sprunch" my hair before, but not now that I have this. It smells wonderful (though...spraying too much can be nauseating, as with anything) and really does help define some nice waves for me. Doesn't give me "curls", but I'm fine wtih waves!

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Continuous Control Acne Cleaner
rated 3 of 5
drinkmoresoup 1/28/2006 12:36:00 AM

I bought this a few years ago after having seen friends that had great skin who used this. I used it for a few months and did re-purchase, but looking back I realize this is too harsh for everyday use. It made my skin bright red after showering and didn't calm down for maybe half an hour or an hour. Not worth it since it only does a slightly above average job of clearing breakouts.

Styling Products -Alberto Vo5 - Vo5 Miracle Mist Heat Defense Style Spray
rated 5 of 5
drinkmoresoup 1/28/2006 12:26:00 AM

I just used this for the first time today. I really noticed a difference, though I am not sure if it had something to do with my Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner, but I don't think so. The ends of my hair were much straighter after spritzing my hair with this and flat-ironing. I have straight hair, but I haven't trimmed in over a year (yes, very bad), so they tend to look scraggly sometimes. Not with this! Today my ends were scraggle-free and looking good! And I love the scent of this! My hair was soft and silky and flowing all day long!

Treatments -Aussie - 3 Minute Miracle
rated 5 of 5
drinkmoresoup 1/28/2006 12:22:00 AM

I didn't notice a difference the first two times I used this, but now all of a sudden my hair feels so much more silky and my ends aren't so brittle looking (haven't trimmed in a year--bad, I know). I am really liking this. Just have to be careful only to use on my ends and halfway to my roots.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
rated 3 of 5
drinkmoresoup 1/28/2006 12:13:00 AM

(((((((((((((((((((WARNING))))))))))))))))))) I tried this a couple weeks ago...my first review on this was written a few days after trying. Anyway, I love the results that this gives. It really does help to clear up your acne and fade marks. I was so excited, I thought of going out in public without makeup for the very first time. Until.......................the day before yesterday I wake up with a sore chest. Not just sore like I have a cold, but something is really wrong. I can't pinpoint where it is coming from. It's not like a real pain, but it is there all the same. And now I am coughing up BLOOD. Yes, coughing up blood. And I distinctly remember just the other night the aspirin was flaking off of my face (and what are you going to do? Not breath?) and I had no choice but to breathe. I immediately went and washed my face and have not put it on since then. But rest assured, the very next day I am sore and achey in the chest and coughing blood. I am a VERY healthy person and so I know that the aspirin mask is what caused this. I AM NOT trying to deter anyone from using this...it has wonderful benefits for the beauty and radiance of your skin. However, I want people to be aware and know that it is impossible not to inhale at least *a tiny amount* of aspirin. It's broken up into bits on your face...and once it dries it starts to flake. I recommend not leaving it on so long, or just using the aspirin mask toner. I think you would get virtually the same effect, it just may take longer. Or mix your aspirin in honey so it will stick and not flake off. PLEASE, PLEASE be careful. I have to go to the doctor tomorrow because of my failure to put a sticky substance along with this on my face.
