Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Active Naturals Eczema Care Moisturizing Cream
dockat 8/4/2008 7:37:00 PM
I've dealt with eczema and sensitive dry skin skin all of my life. This product is one of the few that really does help! It soothes and calms my irritated skin and seems to help it heal and almost seem normal again! It will not cure the problem, but it sure is a good product especially for the price! ($9.99). Unfortunately, shortly after I discovered it, the Aveeno company stopped distributing it to stores. Now the only place I've been able to find it is on EBay and the sellers are asking anywhere from $20- $50 per tube!!! I am very upset by this and disagree with their attempts at "scalping". If anyone has heard of a legitimate source or if Aveeno plans to re-release this product. Please let me know!

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo
dockat 9/23/2006 5:23:00 PM
I've been using Herbal Essences for a long time and have been happy with the results. I have long thick wavy hair. I was happy to try the new version. Although I wasn't wild about the stronger scent, both the shampoo and conditioner seemed to work very well. My hair was soft and managable. Unfortunately I had to stop using it because of a horrific allergic reaction. After the 3 or 4th time I used it my face and neck began getting big red. intensly itchy splotches and swelling. I stopped using it and th reactions improved, so I tried it one last time and I had a severe reaction with my eyes swollen shut. Needless to say, I won't be using it again. I do think it is a good product at a fair price. (I just wish I knew which ingredient I reacted to)

Eyeliner -Jane Iredale - Eye highlighter pencil
dockat 1/25/2006 10:40:00 PM
I like the colors in this pencil and it really works as a highlighter. Jane is correct when she says it makes the eyes "pop". It does not irritate my eyes. My only complaint is that since I've been using it, my mascara ends up smearing under my eyes as the day wears on. I stopped using it and the same mascara no longer smeared. It's a shame since the pink side is a very flattering color.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Night Cream
dockat 11/22/2005 5:16:00 PM
I got this as a sample with the Ultra Calming Cleanser. It didn't iritate or sting but isn't very emollient. I can't say it did anything to "calm" the red areas, it just didn't make them worse. I'm not sure why there is fragrance in a product for sensitive easily irritated skin.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
dockat 11/22/2005 5:03:00 PM
I had high hopes for this one but was dissappointed. It is a good basic cleanser, and it was able to get the makeup off. (It didn't remove makeup as well as Cetaphil.) I found it drying to my already dry skin and didn't see tremendous improvement in the the red splotches. I'll finish it but won't repurchase

Skincare - Body -Paula's Choice - Close Comfort Shave Gel
dockat 11/4/2005 4:25:00 PM
I received this as a sample and I'm glad I did. It is not irritating. It allows the razor to glide smoothly. It has no fragrance. All of these are positive features; unfortunately they don't outweigh the negatives. The blue color disappears as you spread the product- so it doesn't really help you see it as advertised. I didn't see much difference between this and using liquid soap or hair conditioner, both of which are cheaper and easier to see in the shower.

Concealers -Jane Iredale - Disappear
dockat 10/10/2005 12:45:00 PM
I wasn't sure about this product when I bought it, but I'm glad I did. There is a learning curve to application - don't use the tube applicator. If applied lightly and layered as needed for coverage it works great! I have a few dark areas from blemishes and it covered them very well without looking obvious. I am also prone to red splotches from my sensitive skin and these were covered nicely as well. It lasts all day and when I washed my face the areas that it covered looked better! Addendum: this is not a good concealer for dry patches. It tends to look even dryer

Lip Gloss -Paula's Choice - Soft Shine Moisturizing Gloss
dockat 8/11/2005 6:21:00 PM
This is an OK product, not bad and not great. On the good side it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin and is moisturing to my lips. It also has a nice degree of shine. On the bad side, it smells like plastic, doesn't last very long (even with liner or matte product under it), and I think it's sticky compared to other brands like Almay, Revlon, and Jane Iredale. I bought Almost Clear which describes the color very well

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant [REFORMULATED]
dockat 8/3/2005 12:10:00 AM
At first I thought this was a great product: it made my blackheads much easier to remove and it didn't seem to irritate my sensitive skin. Unfortunately, over the last 9 months every time I use it I develop extreme itching and irritation wherever I've applied it. I'm not allergic to asprin and the 2% body lotion doesn't bother me, so there's something in the 1% lotion that can be quite irritating. I'm now trying the gel sine it has fewer ingredients. i will update.

Lotions/ Creams -Alba Botanica - Max Dry Skin Formula w/ AHA & Antioxidents
dockat 5/15/2005 1:30:00 AM
This is my HG Body lotion; of course sometimes it is a face lotion or a hand or foot lotion too. It really moisturizes and lasts, so I don't feel parched a few hours later (I have dry sensitive skin) There is a subtle fragrance but it doesn't bother my nose or my skin. I've tried many lotions and "potions" as my DH calls them, but for the money this is one of the best! (my DH even likes to use it)

Liquid -Paula's Choice - All Bases Covered Foundation SPF 25
dockat 5/12/2005 11:01:00 PM
I tried to like this foundation: I'm over 40 with pale, dry, sensitive skin. It smooths on easily, has medium coverage(minimizes freckles), doesn't irritate or dry out my skin. Sounds perfect, right? For two weeks I tried samples of light cream, nude, and sand and even mixed them to try to get the right shade. Unfortunately, every day that I wore this base, someone (even my husband)would ask me "Are you feeling all right?" the comments were that I looked paler than usual or ashen. I FELT FINE! I think this might be part of the reason some reviewers thought it made them look older. Could it be the concentration of the titanium dioxide sunscreen which is opaque white? I just glad I got samples first

Shampoo -John Frieda - Radiant Red Anti-Fade Shampoo
dockat 5/10/2005 3:35:00 PM
I 'm not sure I believe the color preserving claims but this is a nice shampoo that cleans well, doesn't dry out my long thick wavy hair and isn't overly fragranced. I'll update on the color issue after I recolor. UPDATE: I've been using this for a month since I've recolored my hair. It is a nice shampoo that cleans well and doesn't dryout my hair. The claims for maintaining the color are inaccurate; the color faded just as much as usual. I've lowered the rating for that reason only.

Conditioner -John Frieda - Radiant Red Color Last Conditioner
dockat 5/10/2005 3:31:00 PM
I've been using this now for 2 weeks. It's a nice conditioner that works very well on my thick wavy long hair. I'm not sure about preserving color-I admit I'm skeptical of those claims but I'll reupdate since I'm between colorings. UPDATE: It's now been a month since I colored my hair. This is a nice conditioner that makes my hair feel silky and healthy. It does nothing for the color - it fade about the same as usual, which is why I lowered my rating.

Lipstick -Paula's Choice - Constant Color Lip Paint
dockat 5/6/2005 3:37:00 PM
This is supposed to be a long wearing product- It doesn't make it to lunch, much less through a cup of tea. I tried Iced Pink which was a bit shocking when i applied it to both lips (it also wore off the inner side leaving stripes on the outer edges), but I then I tried it just to the bottom and rubbing my lips together and then it was prettier. If you need lip balm before or lip gloss after appliing this to avoid dryness you will not get long wear. It does not peel or chip or roll as it advertises. Personally, I won't repurchase

Hair Color -Clairol - Nice 'n Easy - Root Touch Up
dockat 4/18/2005 4:00:00 PM
Like others have already said this is a small dose of color- just enough to get the obvious roots done. I have auburn hair and there is only one option for red which too light for me. The brush is good and you should keep it for future use. Unless they come up with a additional red options I'll go back to my usual routine of root treatment once a month using the bottle of my color.
