Top/Base Coats -Essie - No Chips Ahead
rated 4 of 5

This is the best topcoat I've tried! It really, really does prevent chips and helps nail polish last a lot longer. I frequently have problems getting my nails to stay nice- I work in a lab, wearing gloves and washing my hands frequently. This made all the difference! I would definitely buy it again. My only (minor) complaint is how long it takes to dry.

Polishes -L'Oreal - Pro Manicure Nail Polish - Base Coat 100
rated 1 of 5

The staying power of the entire Pro Manicure line is terrible! It chips way too quickly and easily. I even used it together with the top coat and Stroke of Midnight from the same Pro Manicure line- it peeled right off in the shower! And it took FOREVER to dry. Ugh.

Lovely dark, purplish red-brown color, but the staying power is terrible! It chips way too quickly and easily for such a dark color. I even used it together with the base coat and top coat from the same Pro Manicure line- it peeled right off in the shower! Also took FOREVER to dry. Ugh.

Polishes -Essie - Really Red
rated 5 of 5
diana6 1/28/2010 9:01:00 PM

My favorite "true red" nailpolish! It's a really bright, not-too-pink-or-orange creme red. The staying power is great and you only need 2 coats for an opaque finish. This is one of the few nailpolish bottles I might actually finish!

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Lip Butter
rated 1 of 5
diana6 9/2/2009 5:50:00 PM

I use shea butter (other brands) on my lips all the time, and I love the Body Shop's body butters, so I thought I'd love their lip butter. Not so! It stings my lips whenever I use it, making me wonder if I'm allergic to one of the ingredients? It also seems to dry out my lips, rather than moisturize. I will definitely not be buying this again! Plus, it left a gross white film on my lips, making me look sick. (but it does smell pretty nice)

Polishes -Maybelline - Express Finish in Racy Red

Looooove the color, but hate how quickly it chips! It dries quickly, but I'd rather wait longer and have it stay on my nails for a few more days. Once I decided I loved the color, I ended up searching for the same shade from a higher quality brand. Essie's Really Red is the EXACT same shade and lasts a lot longer! But if you're looking for the cheap version and don't care how long it lasts, this is a good substitute.

Fragrances -Philosophy - Amazing Grace Eau De Parfum
rated 5 of 5
diana6 6/6/2009 6:17:00 PM

This is my new favorite "everyday" fragrance. I tried this on once at Sephora and I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist all day! Amazing Grace is the perfect combination of sweetness and clean freshness (like soap) with a touch of musk? And I normally hate musk, but here it just makes it a bit more grown-up and less sugary. It's almost hard to even call it a "perfume," it's so natural-seeming. I've gotten several compliments from strangers (mostly men!) saying I smell wonderful, so that's a success. My only complaint is that it doesn't last very long compared to other perfumes.

Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning lotion
rated 5 of 5
diana6 6/6/2009 6:08:00 PM

Love this. I use it almost every day, and my skin has seriously improved - no more dry patches! This lotion absorbs quickly and has a mild, pleasant scent that doesn't overpower or interfere with my perfume. Plus, it's cheap.I'm already on my second (giant) bottle!

Lotions/ Creams -Jergens - Naturals Hydrate
rated 2 of 5

The lotion itself isn't bad - I guess it moisturizes ok and doesn't leave my skin super greasy. However, the scent is overwhelming!! It's not a particularly bad smell, but it LINGERS forever. Like, until your next shower. I hate that. I put it on before bed and after one night, all my sheets smelled like it. I won't be buying this again; I'm sticking to Lubriderm, which is so much milder!

Skincare - Body -Lubriderm - Skin Nourishing Moisturizing Lotion with Shea and Cocoa Butters
rated 5 of 5

My search for a perfectly simply, everyday body lotion is over. Loooove this. It leaves my skin very, very soft, but not greasy at all. I've been using it all winter and my skin hasn't gotten dry at all like it usually does! It honestly looks as good as it does in the summer - amazing. I also like the very mild/neutral scent of this lotion. It's hardly noticeable when you apply it and fades to nothing very quickly, which is great. I hate lingering lotion scents on my skin. It's also not too thick, so it's very easy to apply. And cheap, too! I definitely recommend this. I'm already on my third bottle. My only (tiny) complaint would be about the pump dispenser - it dispenses too little with each pump.

Shampoo -John Frieda - Color Restore
rated 5 of 5

I was pretty skeptical about this, since I already use the highlight-enhancing sheer Sheer Blonde shampoo and conditioner. Sheer Blonde works pretty well to keep my hair from getting too yellow/brassy, but I decided to try this anyway. I looooove this shampoo! It makes my hair so soft and shiny, much more so than the other Sheer Blonde products. It also smells wonderful - just really fresh and light, not overpowering. I was going to just use this every once in a while to keep my hair from getting brassy, but it's become my daily HG shampoo. I don't know how much it actually "tones" my hair color, but it definitely doesn't make it brassy. Haven't tried the conditioner yet, though! It's a bit pricey for a drugstore brand, but overall not bad compared to salon stuff.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Matte eyeshadow
rated 4 of 5
diana6 2/6/2009 8:14:00 PM

I love this! I bought this eyeshadow in aubergine and it's just the eggplant color I'd been looking for. It's a nice change from the usual shimmery eyeshadows - very vintage and sophisticated looking. The staying power isn't too bad, either. My only complaints are about the packaging. The eyeshadow applicator included is awful, but typical. I always end up using my own eyeshadow brushes with anything I buy. And the ridges are annoying. It makes it really hard to pick up color evenly and it starts to crumble.

Lipstick -Cover Girl - Outlast Lipstain #415 Teasing Blush
rated 3 of 5
diana6 2/4/2009 9:16:00 PM

First of all, the color was NOT what I expected! Out of the choices, it looked the most "neutral" and light. It turned out to be a lot brighter, redder (rather than pink) and with an orange/coral tint - nothing like the color of the tube! That said, I still like it. It's just not as everyday neutral as I had hoped. I definitely wouldn't wear it on a daily basis, since it's so bright. I like the application - very easy to control. It's not too drying, either. Overall, not bad. Just beware of the deceiving color! I might try a different shade...
