Hair Removal -Silk'n - SensEpil

I bought the BellaLite from Costco which is made by the same company especially for Costco. I have been using this over an 8 month period and have used it 10 times and I have seen dramatic results. I used it on my bikini line, arm pits and belly area. Unfortunately, my legs are too tan so I cannot use it there. I am absolutely thrilled with the results! Let me tell you, I was one hairy monster before. I was seriously considering getting professional treatments which would have cost me a couple thousand dollars. But I decided to try this instead and figured I'd only be out a couple hundred if it didn't work. Plus since I bought it at Costco, I could return it if I didn't like it. It seemed like a no brainer to me. I started seeing results after maybe the 3rd or 4th treatment. And then half way through, I was kind of worrying that it seemed like my hair situation was relapsing. But I guess that had more to do with my hair growth cycle than the device. I should have taken some before and after pictures. But the results are dramatic. I absolutely love this thing and am so glad I bought it! The only thing is that it seems like my arm pit hairs are more stubborn than my bikini line for some reason. I still get 10-15% hair growth on my bikini line, 20% on my armpits and 2% on my belly area. But that is still awesome for me and much more manageable than the hairy monster I used to be. For your reference, I am asian with black hair. I tan easily which is why I can't do my legs, but for other parts of me that don't see much sun, this works great. Although, I do consistently get the sensor warning going off when I do my armpits which doesn't make any sense since my armpits are as pale as can be. I just move it to another part of my body and then when it starts working again, I go back to my armpits and then it works. So the system is a bit finicky but for results like these, it's a small nuisance that I am willing to put up with. I highly recommend!

BB Cream -Ishizawa Labs - Nanoce BB Moist Cream
chuugle 4/7/2012 7:16:00 PM
Finally! A BB cream that actually matches my skintone! I am NC25-30 and I bought the No. 2 Ocher. This foundation makes my skin look absolutely flawless! It's pretty thick so a little goes a long way and the coverage seems to last all day. My skin still looked perfect at the end of my work day. I am acne prone and I'm not positive whether it's 100% safe for my skin to use. I think I noticed some clogged pores after using it for a week straight, so I stopped for awhile. But it seems okay when I only use it every now and then. So i'm still on the fence about that. But aside from that, I love everything else about this BB cream.

Powder -Kanebo - KATE Powder Foundation (Transial Pact)
chuugle 4/7/2012 6:57:00 PM
Thank you MUA-ers for leading me to this foundation. I am NC25-30 and I got this in shade OC-C and it matches my skintone well. The first time I used this I used the sponge and the application was really heavy and cakey. I found that it looks much more airbrushed and natural with a flat top kabuki brush. Upon initial application, it doesn't seem to do much for evening my skintone because it still looks a tad light for my skintone, but once it oxidizes, my skin looks really nice and natural. And my skin still looks pretty good by the end of my work day. I rotate between several different foundations but I really like this one. And it hasn't broken me out which is a definite A in my book. I will definitely be stocking up on this the next time I'm in Asia.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Ban Roll-On
chuugle 4/7/2012 6:50:00 PM
This roll-on did worse than nothing for me. It takes forever to dry and makes my armpits feel sticky and damp for most of the day. And I think my armpits still smell. So the neither the anti-perspirant or deodorizing aspects work. I think I would have been better off using nothing at all because then at least my armpits wouldn't have that gross sticky/wet feeling all day.

Powder -Napoleon Perdis - NP Set Pasarella Powder Foundation
chuugle 7/11/2011 4:31:00 PM
I was on the lookout for a great powder foundation that matched my asian skintone without making my acne worse and I'm pretty happy with this. I love that it's a powder which makes travelling a cinch and is quicker for me to apply than liquid foundations. There weren't really any directions as to the correct way to apply this but I find that patting the foundation on works best for me. The compact itself is well made and the sponge is pretty good quality as well. I feel that the coverage is on the lighter side so I still need to cover my blemishes with a concealer. The color match is great for me. I love that it has a yellow base as most foundations tend to oxidize pink. I'm a NC 25 and I use Light-Medium.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Full Cover Concealer
chuugle 7/11/2011 4:22:00 PM
Overall, I think this concealer is quite good. I have found that it works best by patting the concealer on the blemish and letting it dry before applying the next step. After it dries, it stays for the rest of the day. It is pretty thick so I don't use it under my eyes. I was initially colormatched to #8, but it was way too dark and the darker spots were very visible! But #7 seems to do a decent job of blending in and hiding my blemishes even though it might look a bit light upon initial application. For reference I'm an NC 25.

Powder -Clientele - Picture Perfect Compact Kit
chuugle 5/25/2011 5:41:00 PM
I bought this foundation based on the stellar reviews here, but unfortunately the foundation made my skin pretty oily. I had to blot a lot more than usual. I bought medium on the advice of the customer service agent. Upon initial application, the foundation actually looked really pink, but after it oxidizes it becomes more natural looking. I am a NC 25-30 and I could get away with the color. I tested it for 4 days and I think it might have given me some new acne so I decided to return it.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #130 Short Duo Fibre Brush
chuugle 3/31/2011 3:41:00 PM
I had never even heard of or seen this brush until this past weekend. I was at the MAC counter with my sister and one of the makeup artists had a flawless makeup application. We asked her how she achieved her look and she said it was due to this 130 brush which for some reason is never out on the counter so not very many people know about it. She said it's her favorite makeup brush. I was kinda hesitant b/c it costs $40 but I was sold after seeing her use this to apply foundation on my sister. It creates an airbrushed effect like other reviewers have said. It covers most flaws with a light application that uses very little product. I dispensed one drop of foundation and after covering my whole face, I still had half of the foundation left! So this brush will save you money in the long run b/c it uses so little foundation. When I first washed the brush, I noticed some shedding. The next day when I used the brush on my face, I think about 10 black hairs came out. The second day, a couple more hairs came out. I took it back to the store and exchanged it for another one. Although this second brush still sheds a little, it's better than the original one I bought. Even though the price is steep and it sheds, I'm still going to keep the brush b/c the application is so awesome!

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Light SPF10
chuugle 3/31/2011 3:28:00 PM
I had high hopes for this foundation but sadly, it did not work for me. Upon initial application the color No. 2 seemed to match my skin perfectly. But as soon as it oxidizes, it turns pinkish. For reference, I'm a NC25-30. The pinkishness is probably only noticeable to me and is still wearable, but I also found the formula to be extremely drying on my skin. My skin felt tight and it made it look wrinkly b/c it was so drying. A definite no no!

Sunscreen -IS Clinical - SPF 25 Treatment Sunscreen
chuugle 8/13/2010 5:25:00 PM
I was looking for a sunscreen than I can use as a moisturizer too that offers SPF higher than 15 and this fits the bill. It doesn't leave a whitish cast and it hasn't caused any breakouts for me since I started using it for the past 6 months. Great product!

Eye Makeup Remover -Sonia Kashuk - Remove
chuugle 8/13/2010 5:21:00 PM
This is an excellent and very effective eye makeup remover. It removes my tubing mascara within a couple seconds with minimal effort and it doesn't leave an oily residue. I love this! I would never have thought to try this if it weren't for MUA. Thanks again for a great rec!

Eye Makeup Remover -Yves Saint Laurent - Instant Pur Instant Eye Make-Up Remover
chuugle 7/6/2010 2:00:00 PM
I got this as a free sample with my recent Sephora purchase as well. It works great to remove my japanese tube mascara which only comes off with an oil based remover. This works like a charm without requiring any tugging and the best part is that it doesn't leave the eye area greasy. I can open my eyes with this on and it doesn't cause my eyes to blur or anything. The only problem is that it's so expensive and I know I can find something just as effective for way less money. So I doubt I would repurchase but I would highly recommend for those lucky ones with an unlimited budget.

Liquid -Shu Uemura - Face Architect Smoothing Fluid Foundation
chuugle 6/17/2010 5:20:00 PM
I really liked this foundation. It covers all imperfections and gives such a great finish without looking thick. And of course, being Asian, it was nice to finally find a foundation that matched my skintone perfectly. Unfortunately, I think this broke me out in little zits and gave me milia too after a couple weeks of use. Very few people seem to have my problem since both my sisters use it without any issues with clogged pores. I guess I'm just unlucky. I was very sad, but thank goodness I was able to return it since it's a pricey foundation.

Misc Beauty Tools -Sana - Excel 39mm eyelash curler
chuugle 6/17/2010 5:16:00 PM
Wow, this eyelash curler really does a great job of curling! The gel pad is nice and cushiony and curls the first time. It was pretty hard to track down and when I found it, it cost about $15 US. But it's cheaper than the Shu Uemura curler which it was time for me to replace. It lives up to the hype!
