Moisturizers -Kate Somerville - Nourish Daily Moisture

This moisturizer really irritated my skin which was shocking since I'm pretty resilient to most skincare. I put up with it for a good month trying to convince myself it was other factors, but in the end I had to admit that I couldn't use this moisturizer anymore and so I returned it. It gave me huge pimples on my forehead and temples and what was frustrating was that it never truly "nourished" and fully hydrated my skin. It always felt so dry and horrible. The circular pump packaging was genius though so I will definitely miss that but my now smooth face surely won't.
Mascara -Tarte - Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara
chanelmontes 6/21/2011 2:54:00 PM
This mascara is really great! It goes on so smooth and never clumps at all. It separates and defines beautifully and boy does it last all day on my lashes with no flaking or smudging. Best of all it's natural so I know I'm not hurting my lids or lashes but rather taking care of them with the added Amazonian clay benefits. I don't think I will use another unnatural mascara ever again. My lashes have never looked so lush even on days I'm not wearing this mascara. The bamboo packaging is really cute too. I'm loving all of Tarte's Amazonian clay products as they are outstanding!
I had a deluxe sample of this eyeliner and I loved how black it was and smooth it looked on my eye, but I went to buy a full size and it performed completely different. It just crumbled after crumbled during application I couldn't believe it. I tried so hard to make this eyeliner work since I know it's potential from the deluxe sample I had, so maybe I got a bad one? I read reviews of this happening to others so it tells me this product is not very consistent which shouldn't be the case if it's $18.
Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay Long-Wear Blush in Natural Beauty
chanelmontes 2/17/2011 8:00:00 PM
After hearing about these Amazonian clay blushes, I caved into the numerous skin friendly properties the Amazonian clay is supposed to have and figured why not get a blush that is supposedly way better for my skin? I ended up choosing Natural Beauty, which is a pretty muted reddish pink that looks gorgeous on my fair-med skin tone and dark brown hair. It really makes my cheeks pop and seriously lasts all day! I kept checking it every hour the first time I tried it just to see its performance and it was flawless all day. I recommend patting this blush on using a tapered blush brush on your cheekbones instead of just swiping it because overdoing it can be super easy. These are highly pigmented. I also highly adore the cute packaging too. It's sleek yet super chic and matches the tone of the blush shade you choose.
Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Rehab
chanelmontes 2/5/2011 12:01:00 PM
Do not know how Urban Decay managed to make a cream eye shadow pencil not crease ALL day but they did! Alot of eye products, especially creams, crease on me without my beloved LORAC primer but these pencils are so awesome, way better than the NYX pencils I tried which were extremely greasy and creased on me within minutes. These creamy pencils perform like nothing else, they are highly pigmented, you get very true color in one stroke, and you can use them for multiple placement on the eyes. I have Rehab, which is a gorgeous medium golden brown, and I use this shade to color my entire lid, blend it in the crease and also use this as an eyeliner! Absolutely no primer needed. This is perfect for days when I want a beautiful eye look done quickly that will perform throughout the day, and carrying it in your makeup case is so convenient if you need an eye look on the go. I definitely want to buy other shades in these as Urban Decay has become a beloved brand of mine as their products are gorgeous and really do perform outstandingly well.
This should be called a "million little flakies" because that's exactly what it gives my eye area only after a couple hours after application. Not only that, it gave a wet look to my lashes and separated them greatly. There was no fullness whatsoever. They actually looked really bare and worse than with no mascara at all. Also, the packaging feels really cheap. Without a doubt, I will never repurchase this mascara.
Highlighters -LORAC - Perfectly Lit Oil-Free Luminizing Powder in Spotlight
chanelmontes 12/3/2010 3:31:00 PM
The most luxurious and silky highlighter I've ever used. It melts like butter and provides the natural glow I wish to achieve. I've used other high end highlighters that were too chalky, sparkly and glittery that really accentuated my pores. This stuff is the complete opposite and needs to be a new cult favorite highlighter for sure.
I would pay $50 for this brush and not second guess my decision one bit! This brush is of extremely high quality with super soft densely packed bristles and a very thick wooden handle that feels so luxurious in the palm of my hand. It applies powder, blush and highlighter perfectly. I've paid so much for some high end brushes that didn't meet my expectations but this brush surpasses those and with coupons and my rewards card at Ulta this brush came to $4.88 with tax! This purchase seems like a dream for me but I'm so glad it's real because I'll be using this brush forever =)
I've always been a liquid foundation type of person but lately it has been really hard to control shine and slippage so I decided to give powder foundation a try. I tried a couple that were terrible but when I came across this one I was ecstatic. This is top quality right here without a doubt. I barely have to apply it to my skin and it blends and covers beautifully. It's so darn easy and fool proof to use. The finish it gives is not overly powdery at all, which was a concern, but naturally matte and controls oil and shine wonderfully ALL day long. I never EVER need to touch up just the tiniest bit. And the pressed powder means no mess or spills at all! This is definitely one of my favs from Laura Mercier as it's my new HG Foundation. I hope Laura Mercier will never reformulate or discontinue this!
Primer/ Corrector -Laura Mercier - Foundation Primer-Mineral
chanelmontes 11/4/2010 7:45:00 PM
This is a review for Laura Mercier's Mineral Foundation primer that comes in a tube. I used and tried her original Foundation Primer but couldn't stand the horrible smell and how shiny it made my face all day. This primer is completely different. It matify's and smooths my face leaving it perfectly prepped for Laura Mercier's foundation powder. It works wonders leaving me matte and fresh all day long with absolutely no shine which I hate. Also, there's no disgusting smell and it absorbs and sets within seconds. I love this primer and will definitely continue to purchase.
Highlighters -Revlon - Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator in Gold Light
chanelmontes 10/23/2010 7:28:00 PM
I use this as a cheek highlighter and love it. I was surprised by its supreme quality in comparison to similar high end ones in the market that were the same if not worse. I put this on my cheekbones and temples over my tinted moisturizer then put matte blush on top. This is so perfect and just the look I go for. It sets in wonderfully and lasts all day. The texture is creamy and smooth and so easy to blend. I love that Gold Light isn't over the top Goldish. It's beigy with a hint of gold shine and not an obvious ton of bright gold sparkles everywhere. Also love the squeeze tube. I will definitely repurchase.
This eye primer is AMAZING!! Bottom Line. I want to delete all the other positive reviews I've given to other eye primers. This holds everything in place, even crappy eyeliner! Without a doubt not ONE single crease the whole day. The consistency is creamy and always dries evenly with no blotching or unevenness whatsoever. This stuff is incredible. I sincerely hope LORAC never discontinues this or changes the formulation. Highly recommended!
I love this eye shadow as it's the perfect medium purple with lots of sparkle. It really makes my brown eyes pop. I feel its more pigmented than other similar sparkle e/s on the market. I always feel so pretty when I wear it knowing people see gorgeous sparkle on my eyelids. I wear a primer first and still get a little fall out but not much. I've just been in a sparkle mood lately and Retrograde is what I've been looking for.
I love these Stardust eye shadows! Diamond dog is a perfect beautiful taupe and more pigmented than other similar sparkle eye shadows on the market. It has very finely milled sparkles that looks so gorgeous on my eyelids. Even though I'm 31 and a mother of 2, I rock these in total confidence because even though they have a lot of sparkle, UD managed to make them super gorgeous and not raunchy. And even though there's alot of sparkle, there's barely any fall out. I get WAY more fall out with Bobbi Brown's metallic cream shadows. This, along with Retrograde, are a great addition to my eye shadow wardrobe. Love the cute packaging too.
Cleansers -Laura Mercier - Foaming one-step cleanser
chanelmontes 10/10/2010 11:54:00 PM
I use and love Laura Mercier's regular one step cleanser and decided to give this version a try and it's the same outstanding quality. Laura Mercier's skincare is just fabulous and worth the price. This cleanser dispenses a luxurious foam that melts off my eye makeup, foundation and cleanses and restores my ph balance in one step. I only need to pump the bottle once to cover my entire face. A deal breaker for me with cleansers is that I absolutely don't tolerate stinging and this one doesn't. It's so gentle around my eyes yet takes off everything. I will absolutely continue to purchase.
