Lip Gloss -MAC - Evolution Revolution
ccmadamoiselle 6/26/2011 9:09:00 AM
MAC Evolution Revolution lipglass, released in MAC Bloggers collection for 2011, is described by MAC as a "warm peachy pink." Makeup and Beauty Blog creator Karen describes her lipglass, "Like colors shifting in the light as it falls on a woman’s face at sunset, the colors of Evolution Revolution Lipglass are beautiful and complex — from some angles, pink; from others, peachy gold. And when the light hits them just right, we see brief flashes of purple, green and blue micro glitter." Karen's description is actually closer to reality. If you look at my makeup stash, I'm a sucker for nude and peachy pink l/g. Some peachy pinks have too much white/gold pearl (MAC Devilishly Stylish, Wonder Woman Emancipation). Some nudes lean too grayish beige (VGV), yellow (Young Thing), or nude brown (2N). Evolution Revolution is the perfect milky peachy pink with subtle microglitters. (And yes, I can see the flashing green and blue up close.) If you own Peroxide, Icescape, Cherry Blossom, or Lightswitch like I do, don't worry. Evolution Revolution is not just sheer glitter in a tube. On my medium pink lip, I fill in my lips with Subculture l/s, blend Boldly Bare l/l from the edges, and top with Evolution Revolution. The result may may bring the end of my hunt for the perfect understated lip to pair with smokey eyes or neutral eyes. It's warm and bright enough to make a noticeable difference, but it's subtle enough not to clash or compete with my go-to strong eyes. UPDATE: Just tried In Synch l/l on lips with Whirl l/l blended in from the edges, topped with Evolution Revolution. It's a really nice combination without going full Snooki.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Starlet Peach
ccmadamoiselle 2/20/2010 8:39:00 PM
Estee Lauder Starlet Peach Lip Sheen (limited edition) is a part of the Michael Kors "Very Hollywood" collection. This lipstick is intended to be worn on bare lips for a sheer golden peach sheen, or according to the Estee Lauder website, worn over another lipstick to bring out the golden tones. What I love about Starlet Peach is that gives my naturally pink lips a softer, milky peach sheen. I caved and bought Starlet Peach lipgloss to go with it. The result is a soft, glossy peach lip that looks fresh and finished, but not cutesy or overdone. That's exactly what I would expect from Michael Kors. Love!

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam Cyndi ] [DISCONTINUED]
ccmadamoiselle 2/16/2010 9:16:00 PM
Viva Glam Cyndi is described by MAC as a "light reddish coral." I love how smooth and glossy this Lustre lipstick looks and feels. The color is not a bright coral like Spring Color Forecast Victorian, Fresh Salmon, or Costa Chic (permanent). Best of all, there's no garish frost or shimmer that settles into your lips. Use a raspberry lipliner for medium pink coral lips. Viva Cyndi is way more wearable than Viva Glam Gaga. This is a great color for spring!

Blush -MAC - Blush Ombre -Azalea Blossom
ccmadamoiselle 2/13/2010 11:23:00 PM
MAC Azalea Blossom Blush Ombre is described as "Light cool pink." The gradient fades from bright, cool pink to violet pink. How does the limited edition Blush Ombre compare to MAC Beauty Powder Blush? Both have the silky texture of Beauty Powder, but I find the Blush Ombre more buildable in intensity than Beauty Powder Blushes. My MAC SA showed me how to use the Blush Ombre: Gently swipe the light pink and apply to the apples of your cheek, and then pat on the violet pink shade (sparingly) as a contour. The result is very soft and subtle! FYI, the brush you use is key. I use MAC 165 Tapered cheek/highlight brush (LE). Be careful not to use a densely bristled brush: It might pick up too much color and you could end up with chalky-looking cheeks. If you use a tapered brush with long bristles, you could be able to build the color softly.

Lipstick -MAC - Beigeland
ccmadamoiselle 2/11/2010 5:39:00 PM
Beigeland is described by MAC as "Light frosted pink beige." Despite being a Frost lipstick, this lipstick isn't that pigmented. If you're really pale, Beigeland might actually pull pink-beige on you. I'm fair-medium skinned and have pink lips. Beigeland just looked like golden-beige shimmer on me. Viva Glam V (Neutral pink with pearl) gave me a better beige pink effect, and the Lustre formula is more moisturizing. HTH!

Lipstick -MAC - Fresh Salmon
ccmadamoiselle 2/11/2010 4:09:00 PM
Fresh Salmon lipstick is described by MAC as "Sheer bright pink-orange." It's a pigmented mid-tone coral, but the Lustre formula makes the color go on smoothly while letting your lip color show. Very fresh and pretty for spring! Fresh Salmon is more pink than MAC Costa Chic l/s and it is less red than Clinique Beach Coral lipstick.

Lipstick -MAC - Victorian
ccmadamoiselle 2/11/2010 4:04:00 PM
Victorian is described by MAC as "Frosted light golden pink." Although I loved the light coral color, the Frost formula wasn't flattering upon application. Although my lips were smooth, the frost seemed to settle into the lines of my lips. I wish it was an Amplified Creme. If you must have a light coral, you could try prepping with MAC Lip Erase.

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder in Summer Rose
ccmadamoiselle 4/26/2009 12:09:00 AM
Well, my review for Blush of Youth applies to Summer Rose. "I have been looking forward to the Rose Romance Beauty Powders, but they are nothing like the my faves from Barbie Loves MAC. I am not sure if the brand new tester was somehow defective, but no color would show up on my C3 skin. I swiped and swiped and got nothing. I'll pass on these!"

Lipstick -Chanel - Maniac
ccmadamoiselle 2/27/2009 11:25:00 PM
Maniac Rouge Allure (Les Noirs de Chanel 2009) is the most wearable of the three LE "Black Magic" Chanel lippies (see pic below). It's a deep plum, like a blackened version of the Bubble Plum Aqualumiere gloss, except in semi-matte lipstick form. The Chanel makeup artist recommended layering a warm glossimer like Constellation over it. The promotion image pairs Maniac with Rouge Noir lipstick. It's a perfect color match! UPDATE: I know this sounds crazy, but Maniac is wonderful as a blackberry lipstain. I line with MAC Vino l/l, use a lip brush to apply Maniac, and then blot with a paper towel. Then I apply a translucent gloss over it. I really like MAC Fast Friends l/g (sheer grape) over it!

Lipstick -Chanel - Hysteria
ccmadamoiselle 2/27/2009 11:21:00 PM
Hysteria Rouge Allure (Les Noirs de Chanel 2009) is a deep violet lipstick (see pic below). When layered, it looks like blue-violet black. Unlike the cheap plum/black lipsticks of the 80s, Hysteria doesn't wear off into hot pink. It's almost a violet stain. I find that you do have to exfoliate your lips gently with a toothbrush and moisturize your lips, or this lippie will emphasize the lines in your lips. I pair it with MAC Vino l/l. I can't wait to wear Hysteria for a night out with gunmetal eyes. The Chanel makeup artist suggested that I pair it with a silvery glossimer. I grabbed this lippie at a Saks store, but not all the stores got it.

Lipstick -Chanel - Obscure
ccmadamoiselle 2/27/2009 11:16:00 PM
Obscure Rouge Allure (Les Noirs de Chanel 2009) is a lovely creamy, rich espresso lipstick (see pic below). Don't worry - you won't get the awful matte 90s brown lipstick look. The soft shine gives this lippie a burgundy jewel-like depth. There are no sparkles in this lipstick.

Lip Treatments -MAC - Hello Kitty -- Popster Tinted Lip Conditioner
ccmadamoiselle 2/17/2009 9:06:00 PM
MAC Hello Kitty Popster is a fresh, pinky coral tinted lip conditioner. Smith's Rosebud Salve is still the best at keeping my lips smooth, but the TLCs offer SPF15. The best part about the Hello Kitty TLCs is the opaque pigmentation! Both Popster and Pink Fish can be worn alone, which is a major plus when I'm in a hurry. The texture is like butter (not gel-like like Tendertones). These are gorgeous colors and not to be missed. There is a slight sunscreen taste/scent, but it's hardly noticeable.

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder Blush in Tippy (Hello Kitty)
ccmadamoiselle 2/13/2009 8:07:00 PM
I really wanted to love Tippy, but it's a too cool, bright pink that doesn't blend into my bronzed C3 skin. Although the SA applied it to my cheek lightly (she chose the large angled contour instead of the 187), I looked like I had pink clown circles on my cheek! If you are MMM, you can probably pull it off with careful blending. If you want a bright rosy pink, try BECCA Pressed Shimmer Powder in Gypsy. It's more finely milled and imparts a subtle rosy glow.

Lipstick -MAC - Lavender Whip [Limited Edition]
ccmadamoiselle 2/12/2009 6:39:00 PM
I was afraid the purple-toned Lavender Whip would look ghastly against my C3 skin, but some of the awesome FOTDs on makeupalley changed my mind. Lavender Whip is a wonderful creamy, lilac pink. Ever So Rich (Cremesheen l/g) is a common sense match, but Lavender Whip looks surprisingly good with Hello Kitty Fast Friends l/g! It adds a sheer blackberry depth and very teeny sparkles. UPDATE: I line my lips with Vino l/l and fill in the center of my lips with a pale pink l/l to give the Lavender Whip a slightly berry base. Then I apply Lavender Whip and top it with Ever So Rich l/g.
