Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Eyelid Primer
broadway0rbust 6/10/2011 3:44:00 AM
About Me: Oily Lids. However, I've found a liquid eyeliner that doesn't smear on me... EXCEPT WHEN I WEAR THIS PRIMER! What a disappointment. The only other primer I can compare it to is BeneFit's Stay Don't Stray, and this primer is super oily compared to it. I also found that this took a bit of time to dry because of how oily it is... Man, I really wanted this to work because $1 for primer would've been awesome! Oh well.

Eyeliner -New York Color - Liquid Eyeliner
broadway0rbust 6/1/2011 1:26:00 AM
Really? Only 3 lippies for this eyeliner? I am completely baffled because I LOOOOVE this eyeliner. I wear contacts and have extremely oily lids and this eyeliner is super pigmented and doesn't smudge, flake or wear off on me! The bottle I have is different from what is pictured though (it's all black with silver/grey writing - it's color #887A, Black. Maybe it's a different formulation?). In any case, I am always on the market for an eyeliner that stays put, and I've found a few, but those liners come with felt tips, which don't work for me and my watery eyes. As soon as the felt tip gets wet from my tears, it's like my tears stop the eyeliner from coming out of the pen! I've ruined too many eyeliner tips this way and have wasted too much money tossing an otherwise good eyeliner just from that! Needless to say, I must have brush applicators with my eyeliners. I love this eyeliner. HG status for me because it does exactly what the expensive brands do, does what I need it to do - but it does it on the cheap @ $2.99! 5 LIPPIES ALL THE WAY!!!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Manicure - Back to the Fuchsia
broadway0rbust 5/31/2011 3:44:00 AM
Man, I love this line of SH polishes, but found that this color is so sheer, I ended up having to apply four coats just to get a true color! 3 lippies for making me have to add so many extra coats! Oh well, at least I got the hot pink color I wanted on my toes eventually.

Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Palmers Cocoa Butter Massage Stretch Mark Cream
broadway0rbust 5/31/2011 3:23:00 AM
In my first pregnancy, I was desperate to avoid getting stretch marks, so I searched high and low to find the miracle cream/lotion that would help me fight the battle. I found this, used it religiously - day and night, and made sure to keep my weight gain reasonable. Well, it wasn't meant to be. I got the darned stretch marks (but I've learned it's hereditary, so I won't cry too hard...), and this cream did nothing for me. On the plus side, it was very soothing, had a great thick and spreadable texture, smelled like cocoa butter and was a good moisturizer. But, as far as its claim: "helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks"? I used it after I gave birth, and it didn't reduce the appearance of anything! So: if you need something that will help you 'feel' like you're fighting getting stretch marks, get it. It's not a total waste of money since it at least moisturizes and soothes. Just don't expect miracles. Sorry, ladies! :-(

Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Mama Bee (by Burt's Bees) Belly Balm
broadway0rbust 5/31/2011 3:06:00 AM
[Like the previous reviewer mentioned, I believe this is a new formula.] In my current pregnancy, my belly skin has been so itchy that no lotion or cream has been able to help. So I picked some of this balm up at my local Target and found that it has helped so much, it's gotten rid of the itchies! There is no fragrance to this, but there is a scent from all the oils they use. Though it isn't an altogether 'pretty' smell, it is natural and not too bad/easy to handle, even with 'Pregnancy Nose'! The balm melts into an oil when I rub it in my hands before applying, and is a pretty substantial balm. I noticed that it doesn't absorb quickly into my skin, even after a shower and when I massage it in for a couple minutes, but that's okay for me. I suppose that it acts as a protective barrier from dry air, etc. It doesn't evaporate and protects my skin almost all day. I really enjoy using this product, the natural ingredients, and how it has gotten rid of my itchy skin. Whatever extra product is left on my hands after I rub it on my belly, I just use it on my cuticles and elbows - it's wonderful! If there is anything I would say that is negative about it, it's that the tin is sometimes hard to open - other than that, a great buy that works for me.

Styling Products -Garnier - Fructis Sleek and Shine Weightless Anti-Frizz Serum
broadway0rbust 5/31/2011 2:30:00 AM
I have been using this stuff for the past couple months now and it's pretty decent. I usually use Biosilk, but wanted to try something new (and cheaper) and found my way to this. This serum is a lot thinner than ones that I've tried before, and I feel like I have to apply more product to get the results I want to see. On the plus side, it smells very nice and I love the pump (easier and cleaner dispensing!). I don't find that it works as well as other serums, but it does an okay job. Unless on a budget or unable to find my regular serum, I'd probably choose not to purchase this again.

Treatments -Biosilk - Silk Therapy
broadway0rbust 5/31/2011 2:18:00 AM
(First, about my hair: I have virgin hair - never permed/colored, straight, long and coarse.) I have been using this serum for years now, and I absolutely love it! My first foray into hair serums was with Frizz Ease, and this is comparable to that, just better smelling and less sticky, making it easier to apply to the hair. For me, it's best applied to wet hair before styling, but oh my gosh, does it ever get rid of frizz! It smells fantastic, is easily absorbed and when I use this in combination with my flat iron, I have the straightest, softest, smoothest hair ever! I do have to add that I do NOT use this everyday (at most I'll use it once a week), as I try not to use heat on my hair, but for special occasions, this is it for me!

Pressed Powders -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin pressed powder
broadway0rbust 5/31/2011 1:14:00 AM
This is a nice quality pressed powder. I find that I'm using this more than my MAC Studio Fix now that it's starting to get warm. Very smooth texture once it's on my skin, good for cutting shine, but doesn't do anything for coverage and doesn't last very long. You will have to reapply and/or blot as necessary. I don't use the sponge that comes with it, but instead, apply it with a big powder brush - I get a better finished look. The SPF is a bonus since I'm trying to add more SPF products (besides my moisturizer) into the mix. I only wish is that it came in more colors, I'm using the Medium 40 and find it is just a bit too light for my complexion. Otherwise, perfect color for me in the winter time when I'm not as tan. Good, basic product. Will definitely repurchase.

Fragrances -Chloe - Chloe (EDP new)
broadway0rbust 5/25/2011 6:54:00 PM
I absolutely adore this fragrance! I bought it after swabbing a magazine sample on my wrist one night! LOL! It is a long lasting, beautiful scent that's warm/floral/spicy. I prefer to wear it in the winter and evenings, since I like lighter scents during the day. However, if I were to deduct any lippies from this, I'd make it 4 1/2 lippies just from the packaging. The bottle/pump works, however, the 'gold' that wraps around the top of the perfume bottle got all gnarly looking after a month of use! It looks oxidized and tarnished. I like to display my bottles on a vanity, but this one always gets put in the back because it looks dirty. Oh well, the perfume itself is fantastic, the packaging is what I don't care for, and as such, I didn't want to keep anyone from trying it just because of a discolored portion of the bottle!

Eye Primer -BeneFit Cosmetics - Stay Don't Stray
broadway0rbust 5/25/2011 2:04:00 PM
Ok, ok, the packaging can make or break peoples' decision to repurchase this product: faulty pump = wasted product = wasted $$$! So, I'll leave that up to you whether the product itself is worth the hassle... Barring the packaging, I really like this product! This is the first primer I've ever used, so I have nothing to compare it to. I have oily lids and have a problem with my eyeshadow disappearing and creasing after two hours of wear. But I do NOT have that problem with this stuff. When I first tested this out, I checked out my eyes throughout the day, and what I found was that this primer didn't suppress my oil, but instead, let the oil come through WITHOUT melting or moving my eyeshadow into my creases! AMAZING! I tested this out for a week, and day in and day out, same effect! I would apply this at 8a and 15 hours later, still there! There were a couple of occasions that there was MINIMAL creasing, but that happened at hour 12/13... Um, that's fantastic for me! The texture of this primer is almost like a liquid powder - it's not smooth like liquid foundation. It dries pretty fast, so you'll have to work quickly to spread it, but I've found that if I apply a little at a time, that seems to remedy that. It dries to a smooth, powdery finish, has no shine or tackiness to it either. I also do not apply any concealer over it. It is just a great primer. I'll reserve HG status until after I at least try UD's Primer Potion... but this stuff is pretty darned close.

Masks -Ahava - Dead Sea Essentials Chamomile Mud Mask
broadway0rbust 5/25/2011 2:43:00 AM
Right off the bat, this mask has a very strong fragrance, and it lingers long after you've washed it off and put on moisturizer. I didn't mind since I liked how it smelled, but if you are sensitive to fragrance, this may not be the thing for you. It had a great texture, very smooth and creamy, but it is a bit thinner than most masks I've used. It tingled only a very little bit on my forehead when I applied it, but other than that it was pretty soothing. The instructions say to leave it on for 2 minutes, and I found that at two minutes, the mask was still pretty wet (or maybe I just used too much product?), but didn't wait around for it to fully dry before washing it off. After washing it off, my face felt nice and soft, but I didn't notice that my pores were tighter or smaller. I guess I'll have to use it more to see if this will benefit my skin or not, but if you have a mask you really like, I wouldn't run out and buy this first chance you get. It's really very run-of-the-mill for me. Nice, but not stellar.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Pads
broadway0rbust 5/24/2011 3:01:00 AM
When I was having some serious hormonal and stress issues, I tried everything to clear up the pimples that were covering my forehead. Nothing worked. No exfoliator, no zit cream, nothing. Then I decided to try this stuff. I heard some positive things about salicylic acid and acne, so I figured, why not? I tried just about everything else, what would another $6 be? So I tried it, and after my first day of using it, my forehead stopped growing those zits! I used the pads religiously until my acne cleared up. Then, once they were gone, I used them every other night. Now, I use them on an as-needed basis. This stuff never fails me. I LOVE it. I hope they never discontinue this!

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser
broadway0rbust 5/24/2011 2:55:00 AM
I saw this at the store and figured since I love grapefruit scented products and have no problems with Neutrogena's salicylic acid Pads, I decided to try it. It has a great scent, it has a lot of slip and lathers up a lot. It takes off all my make up (IDK about waterproof though), but I made the mistake of letting it sit on my skin while I went at it with a Clarisonic Mia. MISTAKE! Talk about burning - I made sure not to do THAT again! On the PLUS side, I did some 'excavating' on my forehead (went on a little zit-popping frenzy) but didn't have any spot stuff to calm the redness and irritation, so I just washed my face with this stuff. Usually for me, the next day after an episode like that, I'll have a sore face and red spots everywhere. But not with this! HUGE score! Though I don't use this to wash my face every night (I have a fear of thinning out my skin from overuse of AHA & BHAs), I have found that it is affective for calming my skin when I have mini breakouts. I didn't noticed any difference in improvement of skin texture/tone when I was using it regularly, but that's okay since now I just use it to calm breakouts.

Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Black Honey
broadway0rbust 5/24/2011 2:23:00 AM
Well, it didn't work well for me, colorwise. *sigh* I had to give it away to a co-worker because I didn't feel like have to add other colors on top of it to work. I was looking for something sheer, moisturizing, with a hint of color - which it DID do - just wasn't the right color for me. BUT, if it were the right color, I'd be on it!

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Cream
broadway0rbust 5/24/2011 2:15:00 AM
I honestly did not realize people used this on their faces, as I've only ever used it on my body. It is one of the best body moisturizers I've used, and I'm on my second tub - after at least a year! You really don't need very much of this when you apply it - it's got great slip and spreads easily. It's pretty creamy/thick and it feels so good going on! It's fragrance free, and I find that if I apply it after a shower at night, I don't have to reapply it the next day, the moisture keeps and I don't look dry or anything - including my feet! If you're looking for a lotion/body cream that does other things (anti-aging, evening tone, getting rid of KP on the back of your arms, etc.), you'll have to look elsewhere. This is purely for soothing and moisturizing dry skin. That's all I need it to do!
