Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational - Yummy Plummy
andToto2 4/25/2013 6:48:00 AM
Color Sensational lipsticks are my favorite lipsticks--love everything about them. Great quality at an amazing price. Moisturizing, great coverage and pigmentation, just beautiful. I just keep on adding to my collection of these! Yummy Plummy is a beautiful plum color, although it leans cool, and I look best in warm tones. But I still wear this, because it is a pretty color, and it's a nice change sometimes.

Styling Products -Redken - Quick Dry- Instant finishing spray
andToto2 4/22/2013 3:35:00 PM
I had to go and get the can to double-check to make sure I was looking at reviews of the right product. Because I seriously don't get the descriptions I am reading of "great hold" and "smells great". I can spray and spray this stuff on, and it's like I put nothing at all on. My hair just goes limp and flat and certainly doesn't hold it's style at all. And it smells hideous, it remind me of mosquito repellant. Hideous, overpriced stuff. I bought two Redken hairsprays at the same time to try,and I hate them both. I have bought many, many drugstore brands that have performed much better for me. To me, this was a complete fail.

What a disappointment. I bought two Redken hairsprays, neither of which I had tried before. I thought they would be good, based on the brand (and the price). Utter junk, in my opinion. The smell is hideous, and it doesn't go away a few minutes after using it, like many hairsprays. And the hold? Not much of that at all. Would never waste my money on this again. And I am done trying Redken hairsprays.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Revitalift Miracle Blur

I think this is ok, but not great. I don't care for how heavy it feels on my face, and I felt it made me quite oily. I saw a bit of a difference in the look of my skin, but not enough to make me want to keep using it. Will definitely not repurchase.

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Cream Blush
andToto2 3/31/2013 10:03:00 AM
I bought this in Vixen. It's a scary looking color in the pot, quite vivid. But it leaves a very nice flush of color on my cheeks. I use a brush to apply it. I tried my fingers, and was not happy with the blush. But when I tried a brush, it worked much better. With this color, you do have to be careful not to pick up too much product. It's easy to look like a clown. But if I do over-apply, it is easy to wipe off any excess by buffing lightly with a cotton ball or tissue. What I really like is the staying power. I find almost all blushes fade too quickly on me. This one holds up well. My only real complaint is the size of the jar. It's quite big and bulky, and I feel it takes up an unnecessary amount of space. The packaging could be much smaller.

Gels/Soaps -VitaBath - Bath & Shower Gelee Fresh Citrus Twist
andToto2 3/31/2013 9:56:00 AM
The formula is ok as far as cleansing, and not being drying. But the smell--not very nice. I expect something called Citrus Twist to be a fresh, lively citrus scent. I can't even describe this. It's like a bad attempt at orange cough syrup. I hate to be so harsh, but it's just not a good smell at all. I will use it up, as it is pricey for a shower gel. But I won't buy this one again.

Conditioner -Pantene - Expert Collection Age Defy Conditioner

I found that this does condition well, but leaves my hair without bounce, feeling too heavy. I used it with the matching shampoo. My hair is thick, but fine, and I really need to have some body and bounce in my hair. Unfortunately, this product did not work for me.

Styling Products -Vidal Sassoon - Volumizing Hair Spray
andToto2 3/7/2013 10:32:00 AM
This comes in different hold levels--I wanted 5, the strongest, but they were out of it, so I got the level 4. It's really wet for an aerosol hairspray. I don't like a hairspray that goes on too wet--it just weighs down my hair too much when it's too wet and I don't like the way it looks. This provides pretty good hold. Not quite what I need, but I am using it up on my days off of work when I am just needing some lighter hold. It's not offensive or anything, but it's not that special, and I can't see myself buying this again. I may try the level 5 hold and see if that is better, at which point I would re-evaluate my review.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Summers Eve - Feminine Wash
andToto2 3/5/2013 8:20:00 AM
It took me forever to try this--I couldn't imagine that it would make a difference, and was afraid it would be irritating. I wish I had started to use this years ago. The difference in the number of yeast infections I get is amazing. As is the great reduction in irritation and general itching. If I use any other product even once, I get the old irritation and itching immediately. No matter what I use, Dove sensitive, Ivory, Purpose, whatever. And while it has remedied those problems for me, it also makes a remarkable difference in freshness. In the summer or when you exercise and get sweaty, I usually will have odor, but this takes care of that, too. The only one I have used is the sensitive formula. Of course, as with any product, makeup or personal care, there will be some people who experience irritation or allergy. That's always true. But for me, and apparently many others, this stuff works.

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Blush 831E Pearlescent Pink
andToto2 2/23/2013 9:02:00 AM
Finally, a blush that lasts! I have been on the hunt for a blush that doesn't fade out for a long time. I find blushes that look so pretty when first applied, but I look in the mirror later, and look so pale, as if I forgot to put any blush on at all. I read the good reviews on this, but still didn't expect much. I have tried their eyeshadows, and though most love them, I did not like them much at all, and threw them all away. But of course, Wet 'n' Wild is so cheap, what the heck. It was worth a try. I chose this color as I thought it looked like it would be good with my fair, neutral-to-warm coloring. I thought maybe it would be to frosty, but it's not. It has a nice sheen, but is not glittery at all. It is highly pigmented, so I have to be careful not to load my brush up too much. But it really looks pretty, and quite natural. And it lasts! It really lasts! I continue to look fresh and not pale far into the day. I love it, and I will definitely repurchase. The price is a wonderful bonus.

Foundations -Revlon - Nearly Naked Foundation
andToto2 2/23/2013 8:55:00 AM
This looked interesting to me, and I thought I would try it as an alternative to Colorstay, just because I can never be happy using just one product every day, even when the product works perfectly for me, like Colorstay does. I find the coverage to be ok. Actually better coverage than what I expected, with the Nearly Naked name, but if you want heavy coverage, look elsewhere. It evens out my skin tone and helps with redness. I have two big problems with it, however. First, I really become an oily mess within a couple of hours. I have tried a few different powders over it, a couple of different primers under it, but I just turn really, really oily. Winter is my dryer time of year, so I really don't have that problem much this time of year. And then, pimples. I started using it about 7-10 days ago, and in the last couple of days, pimples and clogged pores. I haven't changed my skin care routine at all. So I guess my skin doesn't love it. All in all, I don't hate it, it looks nice when I first put it on and it wears pretty well. But based on the oiliness factor and the breakouts, I don't think I would buy it again. I do, however, think it is worth trying for many people, as it seems to be working for most people, based on the reviews, and it is a more inexpensive foundation, so you aren't out too much if you don't like it.

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15
andToto2 2/20/2013 12:21:00 PM
Count me as another who received this as a gift from Sephora. I would have never tried this otherwise, as the price seems quite ridiculous. On the positive side, I love the fragrance. Lemon is very pleasant to me, and this is a light, fresh lemon smell. The packaging is wonderful. Attractive and sturdy and practical. The performance of the product itself is just ok. It seems to moisturize a bit, but it just doesn't stay on. I can't use it as a bedtime lip balm, because even if I wake up after just a couple of hours, it has worn off. All in all, I just don't find anything about it that warrants the price.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Lip Medex
andToto2 1/8/2013 8:31:00 AM
I have bought this for years. Of course, as with most products, I keep buying different things, always looking for something new and different. But I always come back to this. It is very inexpensive and works very well at preventing or treating dry, chapped lips. I use this primarily as a bedtime treatment. I also like their Daily Conditioning Treatment in the peach pot. Very similar, not quite as much menthol. I much prefer this to Carmex. I think this works much better than Carmex, and it smells and tastes better, in my opinion.

Powder -Avon - Smooth minerals pressed foundation
andToto2 1/4/2013 7:34:00 AM
I'm always looking for a great powder foundation. I like my Colorstay (the formula I use of that depends on the time of year) but sometimes I just want the lighter feeling of a powder foundation. The reviews on here and on Avon.com are so glowing, I decided to give it a try. It's quite nice in most respects. As someone else mentioned, it makes my skin itch a bit when I first apply it, but that goes away quickly. It is quite natural looking, it covers fairly well, and doesn't look very dry on my skin, as many powders and powder foundations can, especially in the winter when I am much dryer. The one thing that I don't like about it is the sheen that it leaves on my skin. I guess you could call it a glow, but whatever you call it, it's just kind of an unnatural finish. It's not extreme, but it's there. It holds up well on my skin throughout the day, and seems to hold shine at bay quite well.I still haven't figured out the best way to apply it for me. The applicator that it comes with doesn't thrill me. I have tried the E.L.F. Studio foundation brush, didn't like the way that worked out. I am fair to light, and I bought this in light beige. I was afraid the Ivory would be too pink and a bit too light. The light beige matches my skin quite well. All in all, it is quite good. But Maybelline Pure Stay powder foundation is still the best powder foundation I have tried at any price point.

BB Cream -L'Oreal - Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream
andToto2 12/29/2012 12:33:00 PM
I thought this smelled like paint, and was about the same as paint in consistency. I put it on my face, had a tiny bit of stinging, which wasn't too bad and I could have overlooked. But it felt a bit heavy, and it looked orange. I bought the lightest shade. I took a Kleenex to try and wipe some off, so that it would feel better on my skin, and the Kleenex was very orange. I'm not really into orange skin. It's a pass for me.
