Mascara -Tarte - Lights, Camera, Splashes Waterproof Mascara
rated 1 of 5

I really expected this mascara to be all it claimed. There seemed to be a lot of hype about it. As soon as I went to buy it on Sephora's website it was sold out so I waited until it was in stock and bought it up quickly. My biggest complaint is: it says on the box that it'll hold up at the gym. Nope. It was horribly smudgy, actually embarrassingly so. It's also not waterproof. I mean it smudges as soon as my lashes get wet, and even when they don't. It gets all smudgy. It's also really thick and goopy. Very heavy. I would not buy this mascara again and I would not reccommend it to anyone else. It's a waste of money and expectations.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Floral Fantasy
rated 4 of 5

This is such an alive, spring purple! I have a hard time finding purples that I like enough to keep, and this one just made the cut for me. It's just so bright and beautiful! Different from any purple I've tried. If you look at photos of it on MUA on people, they're very close to the color IRL. This is a flattering color for my blue eyes and would be stunning on someone with green eyes!! I wouldn't purchase it again because I don't see myself using it up quickly enough to have to do that. The texture is awesome! I would recommend this to others and I personally think it's a keeper! :)

Lipstick -MAC - Slimshine in Bare ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
Whitneyone 5/16/2007 7:17:00 PM

This is such a pretty color! I agree with the first reviewer who said that this would look great with a smoky eye. In fact it would look best with a smoky eye look. It's a light pink that looks less mauve than my natural lip color. What I really like about the slimshines is that they settle into really beautiful colors after about 5-10 minutes. I think they look different on everyone from all the photos I've looked at, and in comparing those photos with each other and myself. I really like how easy these slimshines are, like you don't have to have a liner or anything. Great texture! I would buy this one again, but there are so many other great colors in this collection that I probably won't be able to afford to :P Staying power is the only thing that keeps this at a 4 for me, rather than a 5. Could also be a bit more moisturizing. Love this product and color though! :)

Tools -Dove - SkinVitalizer
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 4/9/2007 5:05:00 PM

Excellent exfoliating tool! My Aveda cleanser does nothing to exfoliate my skin though I love it for its gentle cleansing. So I was curious about this product by Dove. I receive coupons from Dove every couple of months (you can sign up to receive them on their website) and got a coupon that lets you buy the SkinVitalizer and then basically get a pack of the pillows (pads) for free. So I did it and really love the SkinVitalizer. The pillows have two sides, one with gentle exfoliating, one with a sort of medium exfoliating...I always use the side with the medium exfoliator...it exfoliates SO well and leaves my skin baby soft with a healthy glow. SkinVitalizer takes one AA battery I believe and it does come with a battery in it already. I got my SkinVitalizer from Target. All in all it cost me $12 something and I got a pack of 14 pillows free because of the coupon (normally they're around $3.24-$3.75 depending on which pillows you buy). Oh, and I also move the SkinVitalizer around in circular motions, with a moderate pressure which seems to exfoliate best. I highly recommend this to others and would repurchase! :)

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Black Out Mascara
rated 4 of 5
Whitneyone 3/1/2007 8:48:00 PM

This is an excellent mascara! It says on the Sephora site that this is Dior's version of this season's fashionably doe-eyed looks or something like that. I can vouch for it making a doe-eyed effect :) It lengthens the lashes really well. It's less of a volume mascara and more of a lengthening one. Quality is wonderful, just like regular Diorshow mascara. If you prefer a more thick + lengthy look, go with the regular Diorshow mascara. This one is reserved for long, doe-y lashes. I'm very pleased with it :) (I have some photos of this on my lashes in my profile in case you'd like to see what it looks like on someone before you buy it!) EDIT: I ended up switching the Black Out brush for the original Diorshow mascara brush and I like the Black Out even more now! I probably won't buy it again because Diorshow mascara is so awesome and Black Out, although highly pigmented and lengthening, doesn't give the thickness of Diorshow.

Misc Beauty Tools -Tarte - Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 11/22/2006 5:06:00 PM

WOW!!!!! I LOVE this eyelash curler!!!!! After I curled my lashes with it, my boyfriend, who never notices makeup type things, said, "Wow! Your eyelashes look so pretty!! There's no kink in them!" This curler beats anything I've tried, from Revlon to Shu, this is undoubtedly the best out there for me. No kinks, and best of all it does NOT pinch my eyelid!!!!! Just amazing, well worth the $15!!!!! I highly recommend this and would repurchase!! (By the way, I know this goes against most directions, but what I do is put my mascara on, wait till it's dry and then curl my lashes :) Hope this review helps someone! :)

Top/Base Coats -Orly - Bonder Rubberized Basecoat
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 9/25/2006 11:43:00 AM

I just got this based on recommendations from the nail board! I LOVE it!! It's better than Creative Stickey which I had been using. I just love that it's thin and grips my polish color to it amazingly well. I applied it under Essie Clutch Me If You Can and then headed out to detail my car with my boyfriend. That's including washing, waxing, vaccumming, washing the interior with wipes, armorall-ing the inside, cleaning the windows with glass cleaner, applying Rain-X to the windows, scrubbing the tires and using cleansing foam, scrubbing the mats, etc. This bonder, with no topcoat, held my polish on and I ended up with minor chips on my right hand only (I'm right handed). With a topcoat I would've been even better off but I'm still waiting to receive my Sech Vite in the mail :) Love this base coat, highly recommend it, and will repurchase after I run out of this huge bottle!!

Polishes -OPI - Moscow Red
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 9/25/2006 11:01:00 AM

This is a gorgeous true red, no blue undertones. It does have a slight pink base, which you notice only when it's in the bottle. I found this on ebay for a little over $20 and gladly paid that much since I had wanted it for so long. However, I then ordered You Make Me Vroom upon seeing it on MUA and being attracted to the vibrant red. It turns out that Moscow Red & You Make Me Vroom are twins, like exact, identical twins!! I have photos comparing them in my profile under Beauty Products. IRL they look even more 100% identical (my camera really sucks - I wish I had borrowed my boyfriend's!!). I just hope that this discovery will save another diehard collector from spending the $$$!! I will say that I did happen to get a very cool bottle of Moscow Red, since it has Japanese characters on the back, which none of my other OPIs do. I happen to be a huge fan of Japanese and Oriental design, characters, art, etc. so as a collector, I'm still glad to own the Moscow Red. Had I receieved a bottle without the cool Japanese characters on the back, I would've felt totally fooled and completely 100% p-off-ed that I had spent $20+ on ebay for a repeat OPI red. Since they're exactly the same, I selected "would not buy again."

Polishes -Essie - Clutch Me if You Can
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 9/23/2006 3:26:00 PM

This is a gorgeous fall color!! A deep, browned berry!! I do find it to be similar to other shades, but the shine makes it SO pretty and different from other polishes that I own that are within the same color family. It does take 3 coats to get the bottle color. I highly recommend this polish and I feel strongly that I will try to buy another (I think it's LE though). SO gorgeous!!!

Blush -Lise Watier - Fard A Joues En Poudre Blush-On Powder in Lie De Vin
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 9/17/2006 10:35:00 AM

This is SUCH a gorgeous blush!!!!! I can't praise it enough!!! It gives a perfect just-stepped-in-from-the-crisp-autumn-or-snowy-day glow!!! It really is just stunning!! It looks like a purpleish-mauve with the tiniest bit of shimmer in its package, but once on, it's a gorgeous natural flush as I mentioned, or you can build it for a more dramatic look. It matches my skin tone really well although I was worried that it would be too cool toned. I'm MAC NC25 and this is HG material for me!!! It's definitely expensive, something like $29 USD, and there isn't tons of product for the price, but with my skunk brush, it's going to last a very long time, and the surface hardly looks touched! I highly recommend not using the brush it comes with...it's a terrible brush that chips up the product and applies the blush unevenly. I highly recommend that you use the MAC 187 or another skunk brush for perfect application of this blush (and most others). I want to thank Goodbatteries for CP-ing this amazing blush for me!!! I highly recommend this blush, it really is HG material for me, and I will repurchase it, as it is part of Lise Watier's permanent line.

Lipstick -Lise Watier - Rouge Gourmand Honey
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 9/17/2006 10:26:00 AM

This is a beautiful bronzed honey-peachy colored lipstick!!! It's really perfect for fall, but I could see it looking wonderful in the summer as well!! I was a bit worried when looking at the amount of product you get for the price ($18.50 USD), but it doesn't wear down quickly at all. This has the most gorgeous packaging, a gold detailed case with a tiny jewel type thing embedded in the top - the special packaging is for the new Barock collection. Something awesome about this lipstick is that it has a lip plumping agent in it which definitely works! Makes my lips look plump and gives a semi-metallic bronzed peachy-honey look!! It's beautiful on warm toned skin!! I highly recommend it, thank Goodbatteries for CP-ing it for me & would definitely purchase it again. It is LE though!

Polishes -OPI - Mrs O'Learys BBQ
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 8/23/2006 10:40:00 AM

The VERY sweet mdmbutterfly369 RAOKed this wishlist polish to me simply because I was asking about the color on the boards!!!!!! I am SO grateful because it is EXACTLY what I was looking for/what I hoped it would be!!!!! One of the most amazing things about this color is that it works well with my warm, yellow undertones skin tone which I was hoping for but was not expecting!!!!! I imagine it would look amazing on PPPs and warm tones as well since it works on my warm skin tone!!! I really LOVE this and would/will repurchase :D If you can get this one, I HIGHLY recommend it; it's PERFECT for fall and winter!!!!!

Blush -Clinique - Blushing Blush Powder Blush - Patchwork Peach (LE Spring 2008)
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 8/11/2006 5:51:00 PM

I tried both of the two LE blushes on at the counter and of the two I chose this one. I originally walked away empty handed, but when I got home, I immediately got a compliment from my brother who said, "You look like you've got that glowy tan that you had" (my tan is fading right now) and his friend (a girl) who came over later said, "You have such a great tan, you look so glowy!" And I knew I would have to go back for it :P I was looking for a peach blush, and this one is so pretty :) It just gives that perfect sunkissed, happy, summer look! I highly recommend it and would repurchase! I'm MAC NC25/30 skin tone BTW :) And this appears on me as a very pretty and natural peachy/pink/gold (think NARS Orgasm, but less shimmery).

Blush -Clinique - Blushing Blush Powder Blush - Patchwork Pink (LE Spring 2008)
rated 4 of 5
Whitneyone 8/11/2006 5:25:00 PM

I tried this on at the counter and just wanted to give my thoughts on this blush :) It's a very pretty rosey or raspberry pink! Some of you may not see this, but on me, the shimmer is a reddish pink which reminds me a lot of the shimmer in MAC's Petticoat MSF! So those of you looking for something reminiscent of Petticoat may really like this one! I opted for Patchwork Peach though, because it just suits my skin tone better and I was looking for a peach blush :) For those of you looking for a pretty pink blush, this one seems like it would be cool toned, but I'm NC25/30 and it was really pretty on! I think this is a great pick for those looking for a pretty pink blush! Would work in any season :) (BTW just FYI: I selected would not buy again only because I didn't actually buy it in the first place :)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Bateau Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5
Whitneyone 7/19/2006 11:01:00 AM

I really, really love this eyeshadow!!!!! It's one I could see myself wearing for years to come!! I know for a lot of people it's just another boring neutral, but I love it because it can be very, very sheer or very dramatic!! I never thought I would love this shadow, but I bought it on a whim after skipping over it originally and truly fell in love with it. It's a great brow filler for me as well!! I've never had an eyeshadow that has this texture, and I really love working with it!! It looks amazing paired with Teddy e/l or just on its own!! I really can't say enough good things about it, it's become an HG for me, and if you ever have one to swap and I'm still swapping, PLMK and we can work something out because to me, I really can see myself wearing this for years to come, and that's the most important thing for me :) It's very simple, very classy, and also very trendy as it makes the perfect smokey eye for me :) I really love it and have repurchased it and am currently swapping for it :D For reference, I'm NC20/25 with blue eyes (I really like the effect it has with bringing out the blueness of my eyes) and natural brown hair with red and gold tones.
