Treatments (Eye) -La Mer - Eye Concentrate
Walko 5/20/2013 1:29:00 PM
I think everyone is curious about La Mer. I'm not a fan, but I do like their foaming cleanser(ok that's another review) I recently repurchased the cleanser again and was given a sample of this which I didn't really want as I don't use eye creams, but well it was free and what's the harm in trying .I got the usual look of horror when I told the SA that I didn't beleive eye creams were necessary and any well formulated face cream is just as good which I firmly beleive.I've been using this at night as it's no sunscreen(another reason I avoid eye creams like this) Feels silky smooth going on then well.... nothing really. Felt I needed moisturiser on top of this. If anything on it's own it felt rather dry after a while on skin. Did nothing for fine lines. I'm 56 so the lines are there. But what really put me off this is that I've discovered it contains a concerning amount of eucalyptus oil, this is not an ingredient I would on my face let alone around my eyes as it is an irritant.Even before discovering this I was not impressed anyway. Most LaMer products I've tried have been dissapointing and this was no exception. Given the price I expected better.Back to my usual routine, fragrance free serum around eyes followed by moisturiser with spf for day and night cream at night. The skin around my eyes has never been better since I followed this routine and gave up on "eye creams"

Moisturizers -Lacura - Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream
Walko 5/20/2013 11:56:00 AM
I gave in to temptation to try this because of the price.Should have put my money towards something better. This ok as a basic moisturiser, but even at that it's pretty poor. It's far too thick and greasy, one of these night creams that stick to the pillow. Yuk! And it's FAR too highly fragranced, will do skin no favours at all.It does contain retinol, but this will not be beneficial due to the jar packaging. Ok, some may argue this point but are you willing to take the risk? I'm not, especially with expensive products, which this isn't but that's hardly the point. If it's cheap your after and we all love a bargain, your far better off with Cerave PM which I use and love Fantastic ingredients and stable packaging. This was a waste of money.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Last Lipstick
Walko 5/20/2013 7:19:00 AM
These lipsticks are a gift for the price.I have Think Pink and Just Peachy. Both are gorgeous. Very matte but not in a drying way, and the staying power is amazing. Even when these lipsticks do wear off they leave a nice stain. I am absolutely amazed at the quality of these lipsticks.I ordered online as I'm in the uk and wasn't really expecting much.I was pleasantly surprised. Get some at the price you have nothing to lose.

Treatments (Eye) -Estee Lauder - Advanced Night Repair Eye Recovery Complex
Walko 5/18/2013 6:57:00 AM
This was useless.I used it in the past. It did absolutely nothing. You're as well using the ordinary night repair around eyes(a product I'm not crazy about either)but that's not something EL will advise. Of course not, to make us part with more money. If a product cannot be used around eyes, what is is doing on the face?A well formulated product should be able to be used around eyes. This felt silky going on(silicones) and it did absorb ok , but after that it actually left my eye skin feeling rather dry I keep getting small sizes of this with GWP , but I never use them I have absolutely no use for this product as it does not benefit my eye area in any way. You're far better using a good serum around eyes followed by a day cream with spf for day and a serum and night cream at night. I wouldn't waste my money on "eye creams" certainly not this one.

Liquid -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
Walko 5/14/2013 11:54:00 AM
I bought this foundation as I was getting fed up paying for high end brands and know some drug store products are just as good. This is a good little foundation. It leaves my mature skin dewy but not greasy. Matte can be so aging so I loved this.Good coverage without looking heavy and super selection of colours.Spf 20. Well yes, but the sunscreen in this (ensulizole) does not protect against UVA , so it is not broad spectrum. Ok you can wear a sunscreen underneath and that is how I will use it up .But I will not repurchase as if a product claims to be broad spectrum I expect it to be just that.Do not rely on this alone for sun protection. Otherwise a good foundation , but still leaves me dissapointed.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Black Out Mascara
Walko 5/11/2013 4:30:00 PM
If you want long, thick, dark luscious lashes try this.My lashes are non existant without mascara. You know how you are advised to use an eyelash curler before you use mascara, well I can't because I can't get my lashes in the curler, they are that short,.Yet with this I actually get customers at work commenting on my long lashes.I have a little chuckle to myself.I've no problems with smuding or flaking either with this.Easy to remove,it's my HG. If only it weren't so expesive but it's worth every penny. If like me you need help to look like you have lashes try this.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black
Walko 5/11/2013 6:56:00 AM
This is a very good drugstore mascara. As the name suggests very black.Don't be put off at first use, it's one of those masaras that get's better after a few uses.Builds long thick lashes, and is easily removed. My favourite for darkest lashes is still the Diorshow blackout, but this is a good little substitute at a third of the price. Recommended.

Liquid -Revlon - Age Defying with DNA Advantage Cream Makeup
Walko 5/10/2013 7:36:00 AM
This is the worst foundation I have ever used. I was quite looking forward to trying it as I like colorstay and age defying make up with botofirm by Revlon.Well this was awful. It just sat on the top of my skin.Greasy, shiny , glittery, just awful. When I tried to put powder and blush on top of this it just slid off.Never experienced anything like it and I'm 56. Good sunscreen, that's all I can say in it's favour. Don't know where Revlon went wrong with this one as I am quite a fan of Revlon, but they sure managed it! Stay clear would be my advice.!

Concealers -NARS - Radiant Creamy Concealer
Walko 5/7/2013 10:20:00 AM
This is a good one. Hides dark circles, dosen't crease, look cakey or settle into fine lines, a must at my age (56).It's easy to choose a concealer when your young but when the fine lines and wrinkles set in it's a whole new ball game Another thing that I just love about this is if I need to, I can LAYER it and it still dosen't make my fine under eye lines look bad. This concealer , EL double wear and origins Quick! hide are the three best I've come aross for my mature skin.I have this in Custard and I'm nw 15-20.It is yellow toned , but more of a beige yellow. I usually prefer pink toned concealers but I seem to be able to carry this off.I only use this under eyes so can't comment on blemishes. The only reason I've given this 4 lippies is I don't like these sponge applicators. But I would buy it again as it's a very good product.

Cleansers -Clinique - Comforting Cream Cleanser
Walko 5/7/2013 8:06:00 AM
I just can't get this to work for me. I feel it leaves a residue no matter how well I rinse. I bought this to replace the rinse off foaming cleanser which I used for years as I was starting to find the foaming one a bit drying. You only need a tiny bit of the foaming cleanser but so much more of this, so this won't last nearly as long.I just don't feel this removes make up or sunscreen well unless you wash it off with another cleanser which kind of defeats the purpose. But I have been using it as a pre-cleanse, as I don't know what else to do with it.And I wouldn't even attempt to take off eye make up with this. It's too expensive for what it does so I won't repurchase.

Tinted Moisturizer -Paula's Choice - Barely There Sheer Matte Tint SPF 20
Walko 5/1/2013 12:29:00 PM
I'm finding this TM excellent! I'm reviewing the new spf 30, can't comment on spf 20 as never used it.This has good coverage for a TM.Better than I expected. It's quite thick when it comes out the tube, but glides on effortlessly. I wouldn't describe it as "barely there" It's good coverage.I do use powder and concealer with this and also use a sunscreen underneath ,but it's better than some foundations I've used. Looks very natural on. Never cakey and does not settle into lines around eyes.Excellent sun protection, physical only sunscreen which is a godsend for me as I can't tolerate chemical sunscreen around eyes.No alcohol or fragrance.Feels light on, as if I'm not wearing anything. I ordered samples of light/medium and medium, and could use either on my nw 15-20 complexion.I was looking for a lighter make up for summer and this is everything I was looking for. This will be my summer make up for as long as it's available.I was going to try a BB cream and now we have CC creams. But really, they are just tinted moisturisers. So happy to have found this.

Pressed Powders -Clinique - Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder
Walko 4/29/2013 2:03:00 PM
This is a good powder, but I've had just as good results with drugstore products, Revlon colorstay for one. I have it in invisible matte and its a good match for my nw 15-20 skin.I have an oily t-zone and this is quite good at controlling the oilies. But I won't repurchase as I find the Mac blot powder better than this and as they're roughly the same price I'd repurchaes Mac.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
Walko 4/29/2013 8:11:00 AM
I didn't like this. It dosen't offer much in the way of coverage, looks shiny after a while and it's messy to use and for touch ups.As for those having breakouts, it's the ingredient bismuth oxychloride. This is a common ingredient in traditional make up but in mineral make up is used in much higher concentrations. It gives the make up that silky feel going on, but it is an irritant.I personally won't try another mineral powder like this but if were too, I would make sure it didn't contain this ingredient.Ths stuff isn't all it's cracked up to be. The only reason I gave it two lippies is it is a good sunscreen.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation
Walko 4/29/2013 5:27:00 AM
Been using this since christmas and I do like it but it's not my favourite.I think the secret here is not to use too much, or it will settle into pores and look messy. The gel texture is heavier than a liquid which makes it more moisturising , so I would say this is good for dry skin or for those who want a bit more moisture in winter time I'm combinatin skin, but I wouldn't recommend this for oilies, it would be too heavy..It's not for a natural look, you can tell it's there. It's fragrance free , but there is a smell to it, not a perfumey smell, probably just raw ingredients which I prefer over fragrance anyway Perfuming the face be it in make up or moisturisers is madness too me.Good spf, contains both titanium diooxide and znc oxide so good UVA protection in this one. Although I wouldn't rely on this or any foundation for spf alone, you'd need to use too much. I wear sunscreen underneath. I'll say goodbye to this for just now as it's spring here in UK, but I would purchase this again next winter..
