Skincare - Body -Johnson & Johnson - Baby Oil
rated 5 of 5

I have had a bottle of this for years and use it after waxing to get rid of any traces of wax that are left. It's also good for removing stubborn makeup - if Johnson & Johnson marketed this as a solvent, it'd probably do well!

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane - Amande Cleansing and Soothing Shower Oil
rated 5 of 5

This is gentle and very moisturising - excellent for dry, winter skin and doesn't leave any oily residue. I do find myself using a lot each time though, as it doesn't lather much - for the $$ a bottle doesn't last very long.

Skincare - Body -Badger - Winter Wonder Balm
rated 5 of 5

I have chronically blocked sinuses, and this stuff clears them right up. I have been using it every night for several weeks now, and it really helps me sleep. The effect is surprisingly long lasting, as is the tub - mine barely looks used. The fragrance is nice too, definitely better than Vicks.

Moisturizers -Origins - Look Alive Vitality Moisture Cream
rated 4 of 5
TheaRose 8/9/2006 7:38:00 AM

I have been through several jars of Look Alive and have yet to find a better day cream for my dry skin. It's quite moisturising, but absorbs quickly and is matte. My skin looks great during the day and is soft and smooth. Like some other reviewers have mentioned, however, the effect isn't lasting - as soon as I wash my face my skin feels dry again.

Treatments -Origins - Rich Rewards Intensive Hair and Scalp Treatment
rated 4 of 5
TheaRose 8/9/2006 5:38:00 AM

Rich Rewards has saved my fried hair so many times. After using it, you wouldn't know my hair had ever been coloured or processed it's so soft and silky. I must, however, dissent from nearly everyone's opinion on the fragrance - it makes me gag. To me, it smells like artificial rotten fruit. But the treatment is so good I will repurchase it anyway, although I do hope Origins will come up with an alternative scent.

Scrubs -Origins - Never A Dull Moment Skin Brightening Facial Polisher

This leaves my skin wonderfully soft and smooth, but is really hard to wash off.

Eye Shadow -Origins - Underwear for Lids
rated 5 of 5
TheaRose 8/9/2006 5:19:00 AM

This product has always worked really well for me - shadow stays exactly where I put it all day. My lids are on the oily side, and my shadows crease horribly if I don't use a base.

Scrubs -Philosophy - The Gingerbread Man (scrub)
rated 3 of 5
TheaRose 8/9/2006 5:08:00 AM

Smells great and doesn't irritate my skin, but the "dry", thick texture makes it a bit tricky to work with - on wet skin, it is easier to scrub but the granules dissolve so quickly it's hardly worth it. Also, it stained my bath and shower curtain, although I seem to be the only person with this problem!

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Ben and Jerrys Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Lip Balm
rated 3 of 5
TheaRose 8/9/2006 4:45:00 AM

The packaging of Ben and Jerry's lip balms is very cute - they come in mini plastic ice-cream containers. The actual product itself smells strongly of chocolate chip cookie dough and has mostly natural ingredients. Unfortunately the balm has a sharp taste that's not particularly pleasant, and isn't that moisturising.

Lip Treatments -Badger - Lavender and Orange Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
TheaRose 8/9/2006 3:45:00 AM

The consistency of this is nice - not too waxy or oily. It protects my lips and keeps them moisturised when they're in good condition, but isn't quite enough to heal them if they're badly chapped. I'm not really sold on the fragrance, the lavender is stronger than I expected and gives the balm an odd, florally taste.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Casting color [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
TheaRose 8/5/2006 2:13:00 AM

This hair colour is a staple for me - I use it in between permanents to cover regrowth as it's less damaging, and to rescue my hair from any home-colouring disasters. Casting doesn't stink, is very easy to use (the developer and colour bottles click together to form a single bottle), comes with a large amount of excellent conditioner + good quality gloves, and leaves my hair shiny and in reasonably good condition. I normally use Mocha (supposedly "light brown" but really dark brown) or Walnut (also dark brown in practice). I have taken off one lippy because Espresso - the darkest brown - goes very brassy as it washes out, worse than usual for a product of this type.

Hair Color -Garnier - Nutrisse Permanent Creme Hair Color
rated 4 of 5
TheaRose 8/5/2006 1:57:00 AM

Although I occasionally cheat on Garnier Nutrisse, I always regret it. It is the least damaging, longest lasting permanent hair colour I have ever used, and has natural-looking colours with depth. I'm taking off one lippy for the awful experience I had with the colour "Praline" (medium copper brown), which left me with several inches of bright orange around my roots and has scared me off using the medium shades (my natural colour is medium brown). The dark shades have always come out beautifully on my hair, although they can be a bit goth to start with.

Styling Products -Aveda - Light Elements Smoothing Fluid
rated 5 of 5
TheaRose 8/5/2006 1:44:00 AM

One of the best styling products I have ever used for fine hair - tames frizz and provides light hold without weighing my hair down or making it greasy. I use this frequently and still have most of the bottle left after more than a year, so it's really good value.

Conditioner -Aveda - Shampure
rated 3 of 5
TheaRose 8/5/2006 1:39:00 AM

This is a nice, light conditioner with a pleasant frangrance but it's not moisturising enough for my dry hair. It would probably be perfect for someone whose hair likes the Shampure shampoo formula.

Shampoo -Aveda - Black Malva Shampoo and Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
TheaRose 8/5/2006 1:24:00 AM

This review is just for the conditioner. In terms of colour depositing and preventing dark-brown hair from developing red tones/going brassy, this stuff is brilliant. It made my most recent colour last twice as long as it normally would. However, on my dry, processed hair this is not very moisturing and causes additional damage - I have breakage and minor hair loss of the kind I often have after colouring whenever I use this. I would repurchase only if they reformulated this to make it kinder to fried hair.
