Lipstick -Shu Uemura - Rouge Unlimited Crystal Shine
PinkChick 3/23/2008 9:49:00 PM
I believe that this was newly released for Spring 2008. They are similar to the Rouge Unlimited collection but sheerer and with more shine. Shu Uemura advertises them as giving a more 3-d type of colour. I currently own 2 colours - OR 563S (golden coral) and PK 313S (pink peach). Both are lovely sheer colours that are like my own lip colour but better. My mother owns RD 174S (shimmery berry) which goes on more opaque but still with some shimmer and gives the most gorgeous sheer red lip. Compared to the Rouge Unlimited collection, the Crystal Shines are far more moisturising and feel exactly like just wearing a lip balm. They feel so light which is why I love them as I had previously avoided lipsticks as they felt heavy on my lips. They also don't have the tacky stickiness of a lip gloss. These are not terribly long lasting but I don't mind constant reapplying due to how moisturising they are. These definitely are a repurchase for me in multiple shades probably and I recommend them to all my friends and family!

Liquid -Laneige - Laneige Snow Crystal Dual Foundation
PinkChick 3/23/2008 9:34:00 PM
This is a two in one product with a foundation and the concealer on top in a screw off lid design. First the concealer, the consistency is quite creamy so easy to blend. It's also relatively thick. However, I don't use it under the eyes as I find Benefit's Eye Bright far better and it does make the undereye area dry looking and accentuates any little lines you may have. Great for the odd blemish though. Now onto the foundation which is so much better. The packaging is a great idea as it has a press top cover that lets you depress it and a bit comes through a hole on the top. Very easy to use although I'm not sure if it'll let you get the last bits of the foundation. The coverage is light and sheer. More coverage than a TM but not by much. However the finish is lovely and dewy and makes the skin glow. It gives a natural finish that makes friends comment on how good my skin is and how lucky I am that I don't need to wear foundation (little do they know!). I apply using the MAC 187 brush which made a huge difference to application. It's also long lasting when applied this way as it lasted me from 7am to midnight which definitely isn't too shabby. Is it a rebuy for me? Definitely for the foundation although I almost wish you could buy the foundation by itself as I really don't use the concealer that much (except for the odd blemish every month) and will have some left by the time I finish the foundation.

Treatments -Laneige - Sensitive Mild Essence
PinkChick 3/16/2008 7:46:00 PM
This review is on behalf of my mother who has seen wonderful effects with this product. My mother has recently developed eczema on her face due, most likely, to allergies. She was prescribed cream by the doctor to manage it but although it helped, it wasn't entirely successful. Anyway, she came to visit me in HK and I surprised her with Laneige Sensitive Mild Essence along with the Emulsion and the Skin Refiner (no need for the cleanser as she's using Cetaphil). She used it for three days and her skin cleared up! She's so happy :D It's now been about 3 months and her eczema hasn't reared its head even when she went back home. Her only complaint is that it doesn't have any anti-aging properties but she's thinking about using it every other day or using it only in the morning and alternating with SK-II. So, highly recommended if you have sensitive, allergy prone/eczema skin.

Fragrances -Carolina Herrera - 212
PinkChick 3/8/2008 11:20:00 PM
My boyfriend and I spent a looooong day trying on fragrances for him to see which one I'd like best and ended up accidentally spraying this on him instead of the cardboard. On the way back home on the ferry, I couldn't stop sniffing him. Two days later and I was obsessing over this on him. So long story short, a few days later we ended up getting him a large bottle of this. It smells absolutely divine on him. A clean, fresh subtle fragrance. Maybe a bit of wood in it? Whatever it is, everytime I smell it on him, I swoon. BTW, definitely a long lasting fragrance. Lasts 12 hours without a problem.

Lipstick -Shu Uemura - Rouge Unlimited Crystal Shine OR 563S
PinkChick 3/6/2008 6:53:00 AM
This colour is described on the Shu Uemura website as a Golden Coral. However, it is more of a muted peach on me that really does look similar to my pigmented lips but better! I've never been a big fan of lipsticks simply because I have naturally pigmented lips that look lovely with just a swipe of clear gloss. However, this makes the colour of my lips more even and gives it a pearly shimmer. Not terribly long-lasting but decent enough considering it's a great everyday colour. The best part is that it's very moisturising which is great for my dry lips and doesn't feel heavy at all. In fact, it feels more like wearing lip balm. I top this with Shu Uemura's Gloss Unlimited in PK 382S in the centre of both my top and bottom lip to give it extra dimensions and shine. Perfect. (Plus my bf who has never been a fan of me in lipstick because he loves my natural lip colour says this is gorgeous! Good enough for me). Those who want a more pink-peach natural shade should try PK 313S which I also purchased and is a shade more pink.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pink Raspberry Pot Rouge ] [DISCONTINUED]
PinkChick 2/23/2008 12:26:00 PM
Gorgeous gorgeous colour. I use a cream blush brush to apply it and it goes on sheerly and lasts through the day. But use a light hand because the colour is quite intense. I have Powder Pink so I already know that Pot Rouges have beautiful staying power and consistency. However, I prefer Pink Raspberry Pot as it works better on my pale skin and gives me a cool-toned pink flush that looks like how I naturally flush. Would rebuy in a heartbeat but there's so much product that it'll last me forever.

Eyeliner -Kanebo - KATE super sharp liner
PinkChick 12/24/2007 10:48:00 PM
I have Asian lids that easily smudges eyeliners and most eyeliners fade/smudge on me. My best luck so far has been with BB gel eyeliners which last about 8-10 hours on me with some fading for me but this has trumped it. 12 hours of wear and the line is as black as it was when I put it on my upper lid. The bottom smudged but I expect that because nothing lasts near my lash line on the bottom of my eye. I have BK-1 which is a true black on me. Love how it allows you to draw the thinnest line close to the lashes with ease. I'm pretty sure my sister who hates eyeliner would be able to do this well! Anyway, a new HG for me and quick and easy to use everyday.

Skincare - Face -Laneige - Water Bank Essence
PinkChick 12/2/2007 8:37:00 AM
I've been using a sample of this and I'm happier with it than I've been with any other moisturiser I've tried. I have combination dehydrated skin which is made worse by the HK weather (pollution everywhere!). As an essence, this is meant to be used under a moisturiser and to make the moisturiser more effective. I was using it under Water Bank Cream 2. The essence feels very light and sinks into my skin and leaves it feeling soft. It seems to enable my moisturiser to work better. However, the essence might be enough to moisturise by itself during summer although it depends how your skin reacts to having the a/c on. Although I gave it a 5, I will not be rebuying because I was persuaded by the sales assistant to buy the Perfect Renew essence and I'll be using that and, hopefully, reviewing it soon! NB: The essence has a green tea type of fragance which isn't overpowering. However, it may not suit everyone. I didn't mind it and found it quite nice actually.

Treatments -Laneige - Laneige Strawberry Soft Peeling Gel
PinkChick 12/2/2007 8:32:00 AM
The first thing you notice when you squeeze some of the gel out is the smell. I love the strawberry scent! It makes using this exfoliator feel so much more fun and luxurious. This is a dry exfoliator so you rub it into dry skin. You'll also notice some strands forming on your hand that might or might not be dead skin (I think they're just the texture of the exfoliator to allow you to exfoliate your skin gently). It's a very gentle exfoliator so there's no need to worry about overscrubbing. Once rinsed off, it leaves my skin feeling softer and not dry at all. I'm very happy with the quality of the exfoliator although I'd have been tempted to buy it for the smell alone!

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick
PinkChick 12/2/2007 8:29:00 AM
My first shimmerbrick and I love it. I wasn't looking for this at Bobbi Brown but was instead interested in their Pot Rouge. The MUA layered this over the Pot Rogue in Powder Pink and wow! Together they're gorgeous. It highlights my cheekbones and gives a slightly soft focus look to my pale skin while warming my skin up. Definitely a rebuy for me and I'm even thinking about stocking up.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks - Powder Pink
PinkChick 12/2/2007 8:22:00 AM
This is my current go-to blush and has unseated Clinique's Blushing Blush in Precious Posy as my favourite. It's a bit hard to blend but gives a lovely natural neutral to warm pink which is slightly darker than the colour I naturally blush but looks gorgeous on my fair skin. I apply using a sponge and pat it into my cheeks. I was originally going to get Pale Pink but the store assistant persuaded me to try Powder Pink on one cheek and Pale Pink on the other cheek. Powder Pink was much prettier even though I would have thought the cooler coloured Pale Pink would have suited my pale skin. So if you're fair and debating which Pot Rouge to get, I'd suggest trying Powder Pink as well even if it does look quite tawny in the jar.

Masks -Laneige - Water Sleeping Pack
PinkChick 12/2/2007 8:13:00 AM
I went to Hong Kong and started having strange red skin with little bumps and strange flakes. It looked horrible particularly since I'm extremely pale which made the red even more noticeable. It even affected my cheeks. Anyway, I was drawn into Laneige to buy some makeup and ended up getting the Water Bank Mask on the recommendation of the sales assistant who realised that I was suffering from dehydrated skin. In addition, I got a small travel pack which included Water Sleeping Pack, Water Bank Essence, Eye Designer Cream and Water Bank Cream 2. Altogether, those products saved my skin! It was back to its normal self after about a week of everyday use of the above products. Now that it's better, I only use the Water Sleeping Pack about twice a week. I put on the Essence, Water Bank Cream and Sleeping Pack after it. I don't have extremely dry skin but I have found out that I have dehydrated skin and pollution makes it worse. The Water Sleeping Pack makes my skin feel so soft and supple that even my boyfriend notices! I've tried it without moisturiser underneath and with and it's better with some additional moisturiser underneath although it still works wonderfully by itself. Perfect for winter and for when you have the a/c on. I'm determined to buy a full size one when I run out but even the small travel size I got has lasted me for over 2 months and I still have quite a bit left as you only need a relatively thin layer. Looking at the full size, it'll likely last me a few years! A definite rebuy for me!

Lip Treatments -Clinique - Superbalm Lip Treatment
PinkChick 5/20/2004 9:09:00 AM
Adore it! I have the tinted version in Mango and although it doesn't impart much colour, it gives a beautiful non-sticky dewy look that doesn't look too slick or too wet. The very slight colour it does impart seem to also make my lips look fuller. My bf loves it when I wear it as he says it makes my lips soft and kissable :D

Treatments -Ole Henriksen - Invigorating Night Gel
PinkChick 4/24/2004 10:48:00 PM
Love this product. I've been using it for almost a month and the texture of my skin is far softer and clearer. My old acne scars are also fading. The smell is slightly unpleasant but fades quickly. I use it at night and layer Sheer Transformation Cream over it and find that combats the slimey feeling that some people have complained about. The best thing about this product is that it seems to have regulated my slightly oily t-zone! EDIT:I've dropped the rating down to 3 and will not be rebuying. I recently moved to Hong Kong and with the pollution I found that this cream seemed to make my skin worse and I ended up with red blotchy skin.

Toners -Ole Henriksen - Pick Me Up Face Tonic
PinkChick 4/24/2004 10:45:00 PM
I've used toner before and quit using them because they never seemed to do anything for my skin. However, since I've been having success with Ole Henriksen's products, I decided to give his toner a try and I'm glad I did! It smells great and refreshing. It gets rid of any excess grime/makeup that you may have missed cleansing. Occasionally I use this solely to remove makeup. It also leaves my skin feeling refreshed and soft. Highly recommended!
