Blush -NYX - Bourgeois Pig

I totally bought this blush for the name :-) but I'm glad I did. I love it. It reminds me of a MAC sheertone blush. It's pigmented, but sheer, and looks so natural on fair skin. It has a lovely satin finish. So pretty! One of my favourite NYX blushes.

I LOVE this blush! It is the absolute perfect colour for fair skin. It's a soft, neutral, peachy shade that looks so natural. I feel like I have the most natural glow when I wear this. It's my favourite NYX blush, and one of my favourite blushes of any brand.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #252 Large Shader Brush
rated 5 of 5

I went into MAC and asked for a "bigger version of the 239" and this is what the SA recommended. I love it! If you are looking for a brush to sweep colour all over the lid or all over the eye quickly but still pack on the colour, this is exactly what you need. This brush is so soft, but still dense enough that one swipe is all you need to get the job done. It's my new favourite.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation
rated 5 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 11/12/2012 11:32:00 AM

The best foundation I have ever tried! I have a terrible time with foundation oxidizing on my skin, and this one remains true to colour the entire time I'm wearing it. It's the first liquid foundation I have ever found that actually matches my fair, cool toned skin (I got it in NC15). The finish is beautiful and natural, not too shiny, but not matte. It barely looks like I'm wearing foundation, yet it has pretty good coverage (I would say medium coverage). I have combination skin, with some dry areas and some slightly oily areas and this foundation is super long wearing! It doesn't cling to or emphasize any dry areas, yet stays looking flawless all day. The only other foundation that is as long wearing that I've tried is Revlon Colorstay. But this one is long wearing AND moisturizing. The most amazing part is that when I wash it off my skin feels super soft! Like I was wearing a luxurious facial mask or something. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin, and this foundation has definitely not irritated my skin or made it break out in any way. It's absolutely amazing!

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Drama
rated 1 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 11/12/2012 11:20:00 AM

Sensitive? Stay away! I got this as a Sephora sample and took it traveling with me because of the smaller size. I used it for 3 days, as I didn't have any other mascara with me. It's got a ton of fragrance added! Why you would add fragrance to mascara is beyond me. It made my eyes water and itch all day. On the third day, I just threw it in the garbage.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 1 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 11/12/2012 11:12:00 AM

When I first applied this (with a Real Techniques stippling brush) it looked amazing! Really natural, beautiful, flawless finish. I could barely tell I was wearing foundation. And the lightest colour (001 Ivory) was a perfect match - actually light enough for my very pale skin. I was so impressed. BUT...it only lasted about 3 hours. I have combination skin, with some normal to dry areas and some oily areas (like my chin). It completely broke down, looked patchy, and wore off any oily areas in less than 3 hours, and I'm really not even that oily. I had lightly powdered it with translucent powder and that didn't help the wear time at all. I was shocked at how poorly it stayed on and pretty disappointed. I loved how this foundation initially looked but it's just not practical for daily wear. MAYBE if you had extremely dry skin all over it might last longer? but normal to even slightly oily skin, don't bother.

Lipstick -Bare Escentuals - Gingersnap Lipstick
rated 3 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 10/2/2012 8:57:00 PM

This lipstick smells very odd, almost like clay. I didn't realize how matte it would be. Its quite a dry formula. The shade "gingersnap" is nice enough, but I don't think I like the formula enough to want to go out and get more shades in this line. The one thing I did like is the packaging - very nice, substantial, matte black tube in an unusual shape. The packaging feels very high end, but the lipstick itself is pretty meh.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Red Hot
rated 1 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 10/2/2012 8:49:00 PM

This lipstick is way too scented! It's a sugary, almost bubblegum type of scent. It irritated my lips. In terms of both packaging and formulation, I was not impressed. It looked and felt (and smelled) cheap.

Lipstick -Revlon - Just Enough Buff
rated 3 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 10/2/2012 8:30:00 PM

I am normally a big fan of Revlon's Super Lustrous lipsticks and I have many of them, but the formula of "Just Enough Buff" is not quite as nice as the others. Although some shades can be sheerer than others, overall I am used to them being really smooth, creamy, & easy to apply. I love the colour of "Just Enough Buff" but it goes on a little unevenly and it is really, really sheer. Even though it says it's a creme finish, it seems more like a pearl and has shimmery, almost glitter particles in it. I love the peachy nude shade and it looks really pretty with fair skin (not all nudes are flattering on us pale girls) but I wish the formula and pigmentation was better on this one.

Lipstick -Revlon - Rose Velvet
rated 5 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 9/29/2012 2:59:00 PM

"Rose Velvet" is probably my favourite Super Lustrous lipstick (and I have quite a few). It is very similar to the Colorburst "Rosy Nude". Rosy Nude is more brown. It is practically identical to the "Pink Truffle" Lip Butter, although the lip butter is more sheer. Yes, I have all three, and what I've realized is that I am always drawn to these pinky-brown nudes. They are just so flattering & wearable! With my fair skin, this is my "nude". It's warm, it doesn't wash me out, and it's a my-lips-only-better type of shade. I really love Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks and have several. By far the best drugstore brand lipstick. I have sensitive skin and some lip products can irritate my lips, but not these. They are completely scent/taste free. They are smooth, creamy, glossy,& long-wearing.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Spicy Cinnamon
rated 4 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 9/29/2012 2:45:00 PM

I think other reviewers are right in that the name is not quite right. "Cinnamon" implies a brown lipstick, but this is definitely a wine/burgundy red in the berry family. It's a pretty intense blue-red, very pigmented. I love it for when I am going for a more dramatic dark lip. It is a great shade for fair skin and dark hair. I really love Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks and have several. By far the best drugstore brand lipstick. I have sensitive skin and some lip products can irritate my lips, but not these. They are completely scent/taste free. They are smooth, creamy, glossy, & long-wearing.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Pink Pearl
rated 4 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 9/29/2012 2:34:00 PM

"Pink Pearl" is a new shade released for Fall 2012. I'm not sure if it's limited edition or not. I found it a bit more sheer than most of the Super Lustrous line, and it goes on more glossy. It's a very easy to wear, light, pinky brown. Its pearl finish definitely gives it a pinkish shimmer. It's somewhat similar to MAC's Jubilee, if Jubilee was more pink. It's a great everyday shade that you could pop on without a mirror. I really love Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks and have several. By far the best drugstore brand lipstick. I have sensitive skin and some lip products can irritate my lips, but not these. They are completely scent/taste free. They are smooth, creamy, glossy, and long-wearing.

Lipstick -Revlon - Pink in the Afternoon
rated 4 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 9/29/2012 2:23:00 PM

"Pink in the Afternoon" is a really wearable, flattering pink if you are a fair skinned and have dark hair. A lot of pinks just dont look right on me but this one is really nice. Its a warm, dark pink with maybe a little bit of peachiness or coral to it. Its a creme finish with a bit of sheen. I really love Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks and have several. By far the best drugstore brand lipstick. I have sensitive skin and some lip products can irritate my lips, but not these. They are completely scent/taste free. They are smooth, creamy, glossy, and long-wearing.

Lipstick -Revlon - Primrose
rated 2 of 5
NerdyLibrarianGirl 9/29/2012 10:28:00 AM

First of all, I really love Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks and have several. By far the best drugstore brand lipstick. I have sensitive skin and some lip products can irritate my lips, but not these. They are completely scent/taste free. They are smooth, creamy, glossy, long-wearing and the colours are great. Unfortunately, "Primrose" was the only one I've tried that is a fail for me. I would describe it as "hot pink". The creme finish saves it from being too '80s. It is a cool, blue-pink with a bit of lavender. This did not work for me at all. Not for fair skinned brunettes. Don't know what I was thinking. This may suit blondes or people with darker skin tones better.
