Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara
rated 2 of 5
Merrydothe 11/20/2012 2:15:00 PM

It seems like I may be in the minority here but I don't love this mascara at all! I find that it provides very little length OR volume. The shape of the brush seems to be the problem for me, and I do admit I like a much fuller bushier brush (think Maybelline Full & Soft, Dior Show, Clinique High Impact). I would not purchase this again since it seems to fall so short on my lashes.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in 'Coral Reef'
rated 4 of 5
Merrydothe 8/8/2012 12:11:00 PM

I just finished applying Coral Reef to my toes. My first impression is that this polish is extremely thick and gloopy! I had to use a lot of Seche Restore on this baby to get the second coat to look good. Maybe I got a bad bottle because I don't see anyone else in the reviews complaining about the texture? Anyway, once I thinned it out it worked much better and the cuticle drag went away. I would classify this as a coral leaning pink. Perfect color for summer or spring or really anytime you want a clean bright pink on toes or tips. I don't know if I'd repurchase as I have so many others in my collection which have better texture.

Powder -Laura Geller - Balance n Brighten in Fair
rated 2 of 5
Merrydothe 8/22/2011 3:45:00 PM

Laura Geller's Balance and Brighten showed very good promise when I first tested it. The packaging is simple but cute and the product is very cool looking the pan. My personal pan was swirled with a pink to neutral tan, white and yellow. When the colors are all swirled together, the result is about an NC20; which was my first problem (I'm very NW20). This stuff is pretty yellow. Fine whatever, I can work with that. The coverage is light to medium, which is totally fine with me and I prefer that. Its totally build-able. I applied with my e.l.f Complexion Brush. After a few days of wear, I noticed big hurty pimples popping up. This was the only thing I'd changed so it must be the culprit. Its a shame because I did like it even though it was a bit yellow for me. I'm sure this would be incredible on someone who isn't as breakout prone as I. Back to LM Mineral Powder. :)

Powder -Clinique - Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
Merrydothe 2/6/2011 1:36:00 PM

So far I've been using this for about 3 days and I am LOVING the result. When you first apply Almost Powder it has a normal powdery almost cakey appearance. But as the product warms up on your face it softens and almost melts into your skin and becomes this soft "skin-like" texture. Hopefully that makes sense. Ha! I'm a Mac NW20 and I went with 02 Neutral Fair and it's a perfect match. I'm extremely extremely acne prone so hopefully this wont break me out like so many other powders. My fingers are super crossed for that! I will definitely update my review in the next month or so. So far I am absolutely loving this stuff! EDIT: I know I'm late on the update but in the end this DID break me out pretty bad. Such a freakin' sad story too. Its sitting in my drawer all sad and lonely now. I will say however I've had good luck with LM Mineral Powder not breaking me out. Check that out if you're extremely acne prone like me!

Skincare - Face -MAC - Fix+
rated 4 of 5
Merrydothe 4/4/2010 11:10:00 AM

I'm not sure if this stuff really does much for my skin but it sure is fun to use! I wear a lot of powder makeup and always dislike the way the powder builds up on my skin making me look cakey! After watching a TON of YouTube gurus using Fix+ I kind of thought I must be missing out on something! I would agree that it takes down the powdery cakey look just a bit--but not as amazingly as the gurus claim. It smells good and is fun to use but still on the fence here about whether it actually DOES anything...

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - Underground 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil
rated 5 of 5
Merrydothe 3/28/2010 5:44:00 PM

HG HG HG HG!!!!!! UD's 24/7 liners are amazingly creamy yet stay on my lids all day long--which is really sort of amazing?! Underground is sort of cool shimmering taupe that always goes with whatever eye look I'm sporting for the day (although I will say I'm very into neutral looks). It glides on easy without pulling on my lid. My only gripe is that the pencil seems to be disappearing super fast (I use UD's Grindhouse Sharpener) and I've only sharpened it like 3-4 times. And at 18 bucks a pop that's sort of disappointing. Anyway I will still definitely repurchase this when I run out! I LOVE IT!!!

Moisturizers -Murad - Skin Perfecting Lotion
rated 5 of 5
Merrydothe 3/8/2010 8:58:00 AM

This stuff might actually be a HG for me! I've repurchased this so so many times and it has never let me down. It has never ever clogged my extremely acne prone skin (which is insanely rare!) and moisturizes just enough to keep my skin velvety and smooth and not oily. I use it most mornings before makeup and also often use it at night over my BP or BHA. I always wake up with wonderful skin. It has a light citrus scent that is very pleasant but not over powering. My only gripe about this stuff is that fact that its 33 bucks for such a small tube! BUT--it's just so dependable for me that I can't afford to not purchase it over and over. LOVE this stuff!!!

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Avobath Bath Ballistic
rated 5 of 5
Merrydothe 2/22/2010 9:36:00 PM

Mmmm this is a repurchase for sure! Avobath is a wonderfully large bomb, with a bright green tint and a super yummy lemongrass/lemon-lime scent. I actually used the whole bomb in my bathtub but you could definitely get away with using just half if you'd like. It's mildly moisturizing but that's fine with me. It doesn't coat my tub in the same way that Butterball does. ALSO I'm sitting here on the couch under a bright light as a write this review and my skin is covered in very light fine sparkle! It's gorgeous!!!!! I will definitely be getting more Avobath when I use up the rest of my LUSH stash! A+!!!

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Snow Fairy Shower Gel
rated 5 of 5
Merrydothe 2/16/2010 10:51:00 PM

I'm a huge huge fan of LUSH's Rockstar scent so when I heard that Snow Fairy described as "Rockstar on crack" I knew I had to have it! And YES that's a very accurate description. Snow Fairy smells like very sweet, sharp, cherry bubblegum. While showering, I honestly do find the scent a bit overwhelming and very sickly sweet. However, its much nicer once you're out of the shower with the scent lingering in a much lighter version on your skin. Its texture is not super runny and not super thick and it has iridescent glitter throughout it's pink base. I don't find it to be terribly moisturizing. Overall--I'm not sure if I'm going to ever become a crazy Snow Fairy fanatic but I'm glad I tracked it down on Ebay after the Holiday Season to find out what all the fuss is about. UPDATE: Ok. I take it back. I LOOOOOVE this! I scored a huge bottle on Ebay because I've almost used half of my 8 oz bottle up already! Ahhhh! I love this stuff and I even sometimes use it in my hair. HG!

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Magic Hands Workshop (MHW) Strawberry Lime Lip Balm
rated 5 of 5
Merrydothe 2/13/2010 11:22:00 PM

I'm a huge fan of MHW, and Strawberry Lime Lip Balm is no exception! This lip balm comes in a oval shaped white tube. The texture is light and slippery but not in a bad way at all. The scent is fantastic and fresh! I would recommend it to anyone! If I do happen to use it up, I'll make sure to re-purchase.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Rock Star
rated 5 of 5
Merrydothe 2/13/2010 11:12:00 PM

This LUSH scent (Rock Star, Creamy Candy, Candy Fluff) is my newest serious obsession and honestly, the 1st time I smelled it, I wasn't 100% sold on its sweet sharp heady scent. Over time it has seriously grown on me like no other scent! I LOVE IT! Anyway, Rock Star is one of my all time favorite LUSH soaps. Its creamy, moisturizing and lathers quite well! I also found that the scent, lasted on my skin for the entire day. Every time I'd move a little, I'd smell myself. YUM! I will definitely repurchase this!!!!!

Liquid -Neutrogena - Skin Clearing Oil-Free Makeup
rated 1 of 5
Merrydothe 2/11/2010 2:29:00 PM

This is an absolute NO go. First off, the colors run SO light that my usual purchase of the lightest shade in the mix was ghostly. Then, it made my skin oily and dry at the same time, if thats even possible. I was literally wiping a nasty oil slick off my forehead every hour or so and the next minute I'd be flaking. To top it all off, it broke me out and my skin still hasn't recovered a week later! HATE this. I'm throwing it AWAY. NAY.

Tinted Moisturizer -Chanel - Hydramax Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 - Sunlit
rated 3 of 5
Merrydothe 2/11/2010 2:23:00 PM

I loved this stuff at first because it smells fantastic, has amazingly great packaging and didn't break me out (which is super rare!). It slightly evened out my skintone and looked pretty damn good, until I saw myself in natural light and WOW this stuff made my face ORANGE. I'm an NW20 and even Sunlit (the lightest shade) was too dark for me. I even tried mixing it with my normal moisturizer, sadly with no luck. Its really a horrible shame about this stuff--it could have been HG for me if I could get a better color match. VERY sad. :(

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap - Mild
rated 2 of 5
Merrydothe 2/9/2010 10:52:00 AM

Who ever named this Liquid Facial Soap "Mild" must have been cray-cray! I used this stuff for a good two weeks and it dried out my skin horribly. After using it my face was tight and uncomfortable. I found myself having to use extra moisturizer to compensate for it. THEN, as if that wasn't bad enough, my skin started breaking about because it was over-dry! I would not use this again and in fact I'm thinking of returning it. :(

Skincare - Body -LUSH - Too Drunk... Emotibomb
rated 1 of 5
Merrydothe 1/24/2010 3:23:00 PM

I went to the Lush store in Philly this week with a super bad cold. The SA noticed I had "the sniffles" and rushed me over to the Too Drunk Emotibomb promising it would clear my nose right up! She said it was exactly what I needed. Anyway I bought one and thought "Wow this is going to be awesome!! If it works I'm gonna buy a boatload of these!!". Well it didn't work. I've used those Sudacare Shower Soothers before and I have to say that they are a billion times better than Too Drunk. It barely created any scent but what I did faintly manage to sniff was gross fennel. Yuck! I will be going back to my cheaper and better Shower Soothers!!!
