Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara
Jessiebanana 1/20/2013 4:36:00 PM
I'm a little bit of a clump nazi. I absolutely detest it have spent $30 on a mascara to get the clump free drama I desire. I couldn't resist trying this, but I honestly didn't believe it would live up to the hype. It does and more. You can get mascaras to not be clumpy, but this one just isn't clumpy. You don't have to particularly cautious in the application or hold it just so. What makes it amazing though is it isn't just a "natural" mascara that isn't clumpy. There are plenty of those. This mascara is great at lengthening and creating the appearance of lots of flirty lashes. It's what I wanted Benefit They're Real to be like, but wasn't. Blackest Black was nice and dark, Black is a grey-ish black. This will be HG until something better comes along. It's also fragrance free, so good for my sensitive eyes and I didn't have any smudges or flaking.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Invisible Fluid Makeup

Okay...so I have to completely redo this review. The longer I wore it the more dry it looked on my face. There aren't any shades neutral enough for me so I had to mix. I think this product would look better or normal to combo skin. It's not for the dry or very oily IMO. It's is very light, though it's very cone-y feeling. The packaging seemed nice, but as I kept using it it would get air in it and then bubble up from mixing and lose a lot of product. I returned this product after a couple weeks.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Extra Gentle Cleanser
Jessiebanana 3/22/2012 2:09:00 AM
I thought this product might be a good replacement for my Aveda All Sensitive Cleanser, but unfortunately for my wallet (and my face) it was not. I used this product for about 3 weeks so I gave it a fair chance. It made me break out in tiny little bumps on my forehead and it just got worst with time. When I started to have to the same kinds of break outs elsewhere I finally stopped. Almost immediately after going back to my Aveda they stopped and started the healing process. No new breakouts have occurred since...at least ones I didn't think were already in progress. It's unfortunate because I love how non irritating this stuff is in the eye area. I love my Aveda, but it can sting if you get too much in your eye. Also this cleanser seems better at mu removal. I currently used a separate oil makeup remover, but it's nice on lazy days to be able to skip it. This product also has a really nice pump and is very travel friendly as far as closing it back up. It's a shame it didn't work for me. If you have dry skin like me, but are perhaps less break out prone then I say give it a go, if not stay away.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Curling Mascara
Jessiebanana 3/7/2012 11:34:00 AM
This mascara makes my lashes fanned out, long, and more dramatic than natural without looking too done and gross. The tubing formula stands up to my watery allergy eyes. It took a moment to get used to the idea that this mascara comes of easy with warm water *but* doesn't budge under the assault of the eye makeup remover. It's a good thing though, all the pros of waterproof with non of the cons. I've had issues with bent wands in the past, they tend to apply goopy and be kind of obnoxious in application, but I haven't had any problems with this wand. I actually think the shape of this wand helps achieve the fanned look in the outer corners. I can't speak for curling powers as my lashes never have a problem holding a curl. Perhaps it's because I have natural curl. The problem I ran into with mascara, is that despite it being fragrance free it still irritated my eyes a bit. Loved the look, but I won't repurchase.

It's not irritating, which is great, but it doesn't condition well enough.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Free and Clear Shampoo (New Milder Formula)
Jessiebanana 12/27/2011 4:09:00 PM
I made a new review for this product since the formula was changed and I hate when reviews are mixed up. It just gets confusing to know which product someone is talking about. I'm not particularly familiar with the old product, I didn't use it, but I know this one is sulfate and silicone free. I don't think the previous version was. This product ultimately made my hair too dry and it split like crazy. It didn't irritate my scalp, but it made it so dry it became irritated from that.

Mascara -Giorgio Armani - Eyes to Kill Stretch Lengthening Mascara
Jessiebanana 12/14/2011 10:28:00 PM
Okay, I just want to start by saying I'm not a huge HE mascara person. I usually just grab something from the DS, but I genuinely love this mascara. I've tried the original EtK but it didn't give as much length and separation. I have naturally thick lashes so I want more length in general. I also abhor clumping and I find this mascara doesn't clump on me. The brush is unique, but not too crazy unique where I have hold it an exact way first thing in the morning to get it to go on YKWIM. It's like a normal wand but flattened, so it looks sort of smooshed on top and bottom. I use the side to apply mascara and doing that give me really long, feathery, dark black lashes. As with all the EtK the tube itself is actually really nice. Which is quite rare. There usually isn't much difference in packaging between HE and DS. The top, with the wand, is actually a bit heavy, so it's a really comfortable feel when you apply it. This mascara ultimately bothered my sensitive eyes so I had to stop using it.

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Walgreens - Sheer Daily Liquid Sunscreen SPF 60

This product is incredibly similar to the Neutrogena version except that is a bit more runny and not quite a dry to the touch. What I love about it is that it is fragrance free, so I'm Walgreens doesn't change the formula! Great for wearing under mu.

Liquid -Stila - Perfect & Correct Foundation
Jessiebanana 12/3/2011 1:25:00 AM
Okay so I normally never write a foundation review this early, and I will come back to say whether or not it broke me out, but this foundation is so amazing I don't even have the words. This foundation looks so good on my dry skin *but* it isn't heavy or thick or wet and it actually dries to a nice satin finish. It's also really long lasting. I wouldn't feel I had to redo my mu to go out to a nice place after work or something, which is a rarity for me. While I use my Rosehip Seed Oil at night for proper moisturization, I find I actually don't need a moisturizer with this during for it to sit well. I probably will still use moisturizer, but it's nice to know for summer and it's just nice for a product to live up to it's claims. It's lightweight on the skin and cooling, not like irritation mint cooling, but just cool like a cool bottle of moisturizer. The texture is whipped, but it blends more like a water based foundation. I don't feel like I have to be there all day making my foundation looks nice. It's build-able for random breakouts, but it can be worn very sheer too. It's a true light to medium coverage foundation. The biggest downfall of this foundation is shade range. Fair starts pretty dark, especially for Stila, and all the Caucasian shades are warm. I'm lucky, as a neutral undertone, that I have brown skin. I'm a more neutral NW43 in MAC and I wear Deep. Dark - is a pretty neutral shade, it might lean cool and it's about an NW40/NC35 Warm - is extremely warm as the name suggests. I applaud that it isn't orange-y, it's simple way yellow and it might even look good on warm olive skin. It's the shade depth of about an NC47. NC50 might be able to wear this sheer and blended out. Deep - is a neutral shade about an NW43/NC50 depth.

Conditioner -Yes To Carrots - Yes To Carrots Leave-In Conditioner
Jessiebanana 11/27/2011 6:46:00 PM
This is a new product from Yes to Carrots and it's absolutely amazing. It's affordable like all their other products and it's so effective. I have AA hair that tends to dry very stiff and tangled no matter how it feels after I get out of the shower and this product both detangles and moisturizes. I don't have to use a ton of product, I feel like girls with thick or curly hair know what I mean, and it doesn't weigh my hair down either so I can flat iron it without it looking bad. It has a fairly pleasant smell compared to the Shampoo and Conditioner's scent, which I'm not that fond of. You get a lot of great product for your buck and I think this is definitely more useful than the Yes To Cucumber Leave-In Conditioner. I feel like most of us needing a leave-in need something heavier than what that product had to offer. The Argan oil definitely helps my hair's overall condition.

Cleansers -MyChelle - Honeydew Cleanser
Jessiebanana 11/26/2011 9:08:00 PM
Okay so I'm re-doing this review. This product has phenethyl alcohol in which a) isn't a fatty alcohol, so it has traditional drying properties to it and b) is an aromatic alcohol that is derived from plants so it is is a type of fragrance. This is why this product smells so incredibly green. Phenethyl alcohol is often used in floral perfumes! This in an of itself wouldn't bother me if it weren't in an "unscented" cream cleanser recommended for sensitive skin. The texture of this product is really nice and it works well, but if you have highly reactive skin like I do, broke me out on my forehead and jawline, this product will be too much for you. My HG is the reformulated Aveda All-Sensitive Cleanser. It smells like nothing and is completely non-irritating.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Forever Flawless Perfection Fusion Wear Makeup (new - 2011 version)
Jessiebanana 11/11/2011 11:31:00 PM
So I went to Sephora and I got a generous sample that lasted about 10 days. The look of this foundation is fantastic. It's lightweight and it provides a nice satin finish to your skin, with light-medium coverage. I actually got compliments on my skin while wearing it. It isn't as long wearing as my current HG (Smashbox HD) on my particular skin, but it's still really good. My main problem was that the foundation is heavily fragranced. I mean it smells like a perfume bottle. I have sensitive skin and eyes and ultimately it did make my skin break out. Also I noticed after I stopped using it that my eyes stopped getting red at the end of the day. I never would have thought it was the foundation, that's never happened before, but it's the only thing that changed and it does make sense. I think foundation will be great for anyone who doesn't have sensitive skin and is looking for less coverage with a natural finish. Ultimately the ingredients were just too irritating for me. I also found that the neutrals weren't neutral enough for me in the darker shades.

Concealers -Smashbox - Camera Ready Full Coverage Concealer
Jessiebanana 11/10/2011 9:44:00 PM
This concealer is an excellent color match for me which is very difficult to find at my skin depth and with neutral undertones. I used to like MUFE Full Cover but they dc'ed my shade. This is a traditional stick concealer so it has to be warmed up a bit with your finger. I like that you can apply a very thin layer under your eyes, but it still covers well. I use a synthetic blending brush to cover any marks on my face, so this is very mult-purpose. It last all day and doesn't sink into lines. Overall I think this is a solid quality product and I would recommend it.

Foundations -Smashbox - High Definition Healthy FX Foundation
Jessiebanana 11/10/2011 7:49:00 PM
Yeah...I love this foundation. I am partially influenced by the fact that it is such a good match for my skin tone. I wear Dark D1 and it is the most neutral shade of med brown I've ever tried. It isn't red, it isn't orange, it's just right. I love that the foundation is fragrance and paraben free as I have sensitive skin. The foundation isn't greasy on me, nor does it make me look lifeless. It's a nice satin finish on my dry skin. My nose also stays shine free which never happens. Generally putting mu of any kind on my nose makes it shiny. It wears all day (10hrs), it blends into skin perfectly and it has a nice light-med finish, just enough but not too much. It's super light-weight and barely noticeable. 11/30/11 Okay so I had to come back and take a star off because it did cause some pore clogging on my forehead, which was pretty disappointing. Also I'm on the phone a lot a work and it would wear off it the most funny way where the phone would touch my face. I don't expect foundation to stay on through that, but I would want it to come off nicer if that makes sense? I think it was just too cone-y for my dry skin. It just would kind of sit funny on the dry patches of my jaw line by the end of the day, even though it started off fine. *This is a foundation where it is very important to follow the instructions on the box and shake it well. I think this is why you see so much variation in the reviews. I can't be sure, but that's my best guess.*

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - They're Real
Jessiebanana 10/18/2011 2:18:00 PM
I had to review this for anyone with remotely sensitive eyes. The brush on this mascara is terrible. It's great for the lashes, but it literally scratches my lash line. The brush is to stiff and plastic to have such pointy bristles. I honestly don't know how anyone could not find it irritating. Obviously some people don't, but I think a lot of people will. I never got to fully absorb the effect because I had to be so careful applying. This mascara went immediately back to Sephora and I would not recommend this at all.
