I'm disappointed with this conditioner. I have highlights and they left my hair quite dry on the ends. The conditioner didn't do anything to help with this. Surprisingly, my husband and daughter like the conditioner, so maybe I just need something more moisturizing because of my processed hair. Still, I had bought a big bottle of this with a pump, hoping the whole family could use it instead of having lots of little bottles cluttering up the shower. Oh, well. :(

I absolutely loved this polish! Pretty sure it's discontinued (and the bottle I have has gotten pretty thick) so if anyone finds it online give a shout out! :-)

I was so hooked on this in high school, which is more years ago than I'd like to admit. :-) However, now it seems a little harsh. I may go back to it just to get rid of the flaky skin - nothing else seems to work for that. If you like menthol and cocoa butter, you'll like the smell, otherwise not.

Conditioner -Alberto Vo5 - Alberto V05 Extra Body Conditioner
rated 4 of 5

Bought this along with the corresponding shampoo. Dirt cheap!!! And it seems to work very nicely, though it's a little thinner/runnier than I expected. I'll definitely use my wide-tooth comb to distribute it next time I put it on. Overall, though, a great bargain and I'd buy it again. I got it for my husband but he may find he's running out faster than he expected, LOL!

Shampoo -Alberto Vo5 - Extra Body Shampoo

I couldn't believe the bargain on this shampoo. My husband used to use it, and I used to think, well, he's a guy and has short hair and doesn't want to spend lots of money, but it wouldn't work for me. Not so! I recently bought some because I noticed he was running out of his Suave shampoo and conditioner, and then I tried the Alberto myself for the first time in years. I love it! I know, it's got SLS... but it smells a lot like the shampoo I used to use as a teen. And it does a very nice job of cleansing without stripping! I don't know how it would be if I used it every day - and I have to use up my expensive SLS-free shampoo so I'll probably only use the Vo5 occasionally. Question: Has anyone else noticed that it's a little more watery than it used to be years ago??

Conditioner -Giovanni - Smooth As Silk Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
DD1969 2/21/2012 7:34:00 PM

I think for me this conditioner is too conditioning! Never thought I'd say this about a conditioner. I have fine, wavy, highlighted hair, kind of oily at the scalp and dry at the ends. Normally I wash my hair every day and wanted to keep doing that, so I found good SLS-free Giovanni shampoos. This conditioner made my hair so baby-soft I had a hard time styling it. Maybe that's a good thing (???) I'm just not used to it. EDIT: After reading some other people's reviews, I'm going to try using this conditioner very sparingly, just as a detangler, either leave-in or rinse-out.

Hair -Giovanni - 50/50 Balanced Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
DD1969 2/21/2012 7:31:00 PM

I bought this shampoo along with Smooth as Silk shampoo and Smooth as Silk conditioner. I plan to use the 50/50 occasionally (like once a week) to get my hair really clean. So far it's worked nicely. It doesn't smell as good as the Smooth as Silk but it's a very light scent that fades quickly. I like this brand so much better than the L'Oreal Ever line or the Organix shampoos. Giovanni seems a lot gentler and not as heavy.

I've had this shampoo for a few days and so far I love it! I have fine, wavy, highlighted hair and an oily scalp, and I've been on the hunt for a good SLS-free shampoo for about a month now. This is the best I've tried so far. My hair did feel slightly tangly combing it out wet today, but I didn't use conditioner this time. I'm very happy with my hair today - it's soft and not flat or limp. Plus the shampoo smells heavenly!

Mascara -Lancome - Definicils Mascara
rated 4 of 5

I like this mascara a lot and have used it for years - when I can afford it, which is not lately. It's the only mascara I know of that actually doesn't clump, so it lives up to its claims.

Conditioner -Organix - Shea Butter Conditioner

This conditioner made my face break out. I have combination skin but usually don't get pimples, so this stuff definitely caused problems. It conditioned my hair, however, so I can't give it a zero.

Shampoo -Organix - Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
DD1969 2/18/2012 1:06:00 PM

This was the best Organix product I've tried so far. My daughter likes it too. We both have fine blond hair that can get oily at the scalp. My daughter actually requested it a second time, which is unusual for her - she's 12 and usually doesn't get into beauty stuff. I think she likes the smell - light and sort of fruity/floral. It's a way better shampoo than the Tea Tree Mint: left my hair clean but not dry or coated. The complaint I have about the packaging is that on these shampoos the flip top breaks easily and is kind of hard to open.

This conditioner didn't do much that I could notice. When I put it on my wet hair, it seemed to soak in and didn't even make my hair slippery. Then I rinsed it out and my hair seemed to have a waxy coating. Not great for fine, wavy, highlighted, slightly dry hair.

Conditioner -Paul Mitchell - Color Protect Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
DD1969 2/18/2012 12:36:00 PM

This is an average to ineffective conditioner. It works better than the Organix conditioners I've tried - it's not waxy - but it doesn't seem to do much on my fine, highlighted hair. It feels soft and silky when the hair is wet, but the effects don't seem to last, even after letting the hair dry naturally. It's OK for me because with my oily scalp, I can't use very heavy conditioners, but I'll be looking for something better soon.

I got this shampoo as part of a very low-price boxed set with conditioner and hairspray. I felt like it was too good a price to pass up. It's an OK shampoo, but right after I got my hair highlighted I used this shampoo and it made my hair feel like straw. It's still better than some shampoos I've tried (I don't like Pantene or Garnier) but I won't be buying it again.

Mascara -Almay - One Coat Triple Effect
rated 4 of 5
DD1969 2/18/2012 12:29:00 PM

This is a good mascara for the price. I've tried lots of other mascaras and always come back to Almay. I have dry, sensitive eyes and used to wear contacts all the time. The key, of course, is to replace mascara after three months, no matter how seldom you use it. I take long breaks from mascara for this reason. I don't like throwing things away. Before they came out with Triple Effect, I always used Lengthening.
