I have used Castor Oil for 2 weeks on my eyelashes and eyebrows and it is working. My eyelashes have gotten longer and thicker in one week. My eyebrows are not unruly anymore (they are very sparse) and I can see new growth. I put this on at night with a q-tip after I have gotten everything else done. The second night I put it on, I got too much on and in the morning, my eyelashes were kind of sticking and I had not gotten all the mascara off, so it came off everytime I blinked. It was sort of hilarious, well it would have been if I had not been trying to get out the door. Now I wipe the excess off on a spot on the back of my hand and I don't see that it is lightening, or going away, but I doubt that this is the intent, I was just trying it. My husband asked if it was poisonous, and I googled that and people use it internally for a laxative - but I am not recommending internal use. The waste product contains a toxin, which you can read about on wickipedia in light of events in Boston ...
This product CREASES. This product sticks in fine lines and wrinkles. This product in MEDIUM has a bit of a golden / yellowish tone which cancels out my sort of pinkish/porcelain redhead skin. ONLY if I apply Smashbox primer in the most perfect blend and swirl it around my delicate undereye area causing more heinous wrinkles does this work. Every 1 out of 10 times. I think I have only used this 10 times and it is really expensive. Hard to get out of the tube. This is number 2 of how many concealer reviews I shall make.
Concealers -Cargo - One Base Concealer and Foundation in One
Catloveschanel 3/5/2013 1:05:00 PM
Attempting to document my unhealthy attachment to concealers. My undereye has dark circles due to some unknown reason, so I need one. The Cargo One Base is a very good color and a time saving idea where the concealer is in a wand and you can use it for foundation. It doesn't really cover that well and GUESS WHAT, it dried out my eyes after about 6 hours. It also shows wrinkles in about 6 hours. So I should throw this away. This is so hard for me. Off to document more concealers. Just curious how many I have. (1 out of )
I went to the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale for some boots and of course the Chanel counter was right in the way! I wonder why the lady at told me this was brand new? I am so out of touch after buying the house and shopping at Home Depot instead of Nordstroms.... so anyway. Light, yet provides coverage. Does not stick in pores nor "fine lines and wrinkles". It is very easy to apply with a brush. Cha, cha cha, I love it. Please note that I am a natural redhead wearing fall colors in the fall and she put me in a 32 Beige Rose, as she said I had pink tones or neutral. There is no hideous "neck line". Love it. How do I get this picture of this girl off this review? Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 32 Beige Rose
We are moving into our new house, so I am swamped with boxes and of course, I will sit down and write a review. because it soothes me.... So our loan closed and one day until we get the keys, so I walk into Nordstrom and it is the first day in two months that I can buy something that is not from Home Depot. (I was afraid they would keep checking my bank account, but they don't... lol) So I walked smack dab into the middle of the eye care spider web and she sat me down and tried the OPAL on me. I swear one of my eye wrinkles disappeared. I bought it. I like it now that you can use any serum, as opposed to when it first came out. It is cheaper at Nordstrom's than Sephora by $10. I am loving it and I like the spot wrinkle remover for lips, etc.
Mascara Trial for my wedding goes on and on ... I got the brown because I am a natural redhead with those red eyelashes, but it doesn't look like I'm wearing any mascara. I also had to coat it about 30 times, and it's not waterproof. FAIL.
Another tryout for my wedding, even though I've decided to have a makeup artist do it. Purchased in Espresso, perfect color for me. A little too subtle. I am afraid to sharpen it as the lead sort of comes out and I know it will break. hmmmm.... I don't think it stayed on ...
This makes my fine, limp hair have body and hold a curl, and a set. Usually I wear my hair in a bob, and I am doing it high poof and a little bit more curled for my wedding. Today I went veil shopping and had to walk 9 blocks in Seattle wind, rain, snow (April in Seattle) and it looked fine when I arrived. It even took a bit of rain when I took my friends pictures. Thanks to this shampoo my hair held most of the day and so I think I am going to do my own hair for my wedding. Glad Sephora gave me this sample.
Styling Products -Matrix - Amplify Volumizing Mousse

Let the wedding trials begin.... Oh, that's right, they already have. So my photographer contacted me one day and said, "let's go catch the cherry blossoms" in the pouring rain in Seattle for some engagement photos. So I had an hour and half to get ready. I applied this on my fine, thin hair and as always, too much comes out. It just keeps coming out. So I pour half in the sink and use half that's left. It left my hair weighted down and looking darker in the spots where it stayed in as my hair is faded red, with blonde streaks (natural) and many different shades. So it left my hair looking brown instead of red. I had to pose a lot in the pouring rain, even with my cute umbrella, it just didn't do the trick. I should toss, but it will go under the sink.
Foundations -Stila - Natural Finish Oil Free Makeup
Catloveschanel 10/13/2010 1:35:00 AM
Search for foundation is on as my wedding is 7 months away. I got shade C, which is very light for a fair redhead who always has freckles despite the sunscreen. This would be a match on the fair undertone, not the freckles. This has very light coverage, goes on like a dream and my fiance didn't think I was wearing makeup. It doesn't cover very much. My friend said, when queried, that my nose was shiny. I refuse to wear powder as it creeps into my lines. So it is highly passable, but not perfect. Return to Sephora. FAIL!
Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - Salon Bronze Airbrush Tan

I got this on my first visit to Sally's Beauty. My SO is so nice to want to go to Sally's after a nice dinner on a Friday night. Oh LOOK! There's Sally's! It was on sale. It works great. To apply, I stepped in shower and applied 15" from me, and I am so glad I shut the curtain as it gets a fine powder all over everything, which rinses out well. I did my legs first, I always have a probem with streaking legs with any product. I was alarmed as it was so dark, and it went into the pores, but I was holding it too close. So, I kept a black slightly moist washcloth handy, then I did a blot, blot, blot with the washcloth. Making sure to blot inside of arms, back of knees, around toes, ankles and heel. No way would I use this on my face, I use Clarins. It was dry very quickly. The color came out chocolate brown and I was so afraid, as I am a redhead, well strawberry blonde now that summer's here, but it wasn't too dark, it dries lighter. I am used to a very slight tan, or golden color, but by August my usual MO is to be a little tan from so much swimming. So it just looks like a natural tan. Note about leg: Nothing sticks on my legs very well without streaking, but this did OK. I had to go back and give it a second spray. Very happy with $8 spray tan.
Powder -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup
Catloveschanel 7/28/2010 4:03:00 PM
Went dancing all night on a hot summer night and this stayed-in-place, provided very good coverage and didn't sweat off. I used Nars primer prior, and it did not accentuate large pores and provided good coverage without looking heavy. I am very fair, but I've been using a self tanner the shade I have is 3NT Ivory Beige and it looks like a slight tan on me. I have heard the consistency is like glue, but I just used very little and blended with my fingers. I took it off with oil cleanser as is my usual nightly practice. I don't like wearing a foundation in summer, but this worked out great! The name of this is Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup, no "Powder" in the title, but I can't find it.
Clumps. I thought this is waterproof but it left clown dots around my eyes after swimming w/ goggles, yet it is quite hard to remove. Glad this was a free Gift with Purchase.
Moisturizers -Shiseido - Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizer
Catloveschanel 7/17/2010 1:40:00 AM
I never used moisturizer because my face used to be oily, so at 50 I tried them all. Then I started breaking out from some, which was frustrating as I wasn't a big break-out person before. Then I started using Retin-A, and I peeled for awhile, and the moisturizers stung my face, so I just gave up. I this 7ml jar as a Sephora gift and I've been using it for 2 weeks at night 1/2 hour after the Retin-A. No break outs. Radiant skin. Better than Chanel moisturizer, I think. This morning I looked in the mirror and my skin appeared plump. Dare I say HG? The minute you say that the cream gets an attitude going, so I am kind of afraid. I am putting it under my eyes, as my Shiseido EYE CREAM doesn't do much but lay there.
Oh, Makeup Alley, you are so wise. I heard you speak of this mask before, but I never saw it about Seattle. So one day I was perusing the sample deodorant / toothpaste / sunscreen section at Bartells downtown and I saw it. 2 oz for $1.59 Feels cool and creamy upon application and doesn't sting my skin since I became a Retin-A'r. Unclogged my pores from my sunscreen trials and left me with closed up pores. I hope I don't go obsessive and use this every day. Thanks once again, ladies. So happy.
