I gave up on finding a sweet edible fragrance that lasted and didn't smell childish and cheap. So i dropped the new scent search for a couple of years and stuck with my standbys. (Falling in Love, Coco Mlle) Then after reading reviews for Hot Couture and giving it a few tries: Yes! This scent is like a raspberry mocha, it's super sweet but rich, freshness from the berries but creamy from the chocolate/vanilla/coffee. This scent is straight up womanly, I don't know if I would say it's sexy, more cozy and romantic. Like being in a french bakery cafe that is filled with that hot melted chocolate smell and smoky breads. It stays on the skin for most of the day, I applied at 10am, and now at 7pm I could still smell it gently, but applied more to write this review :) And it lasts for DAYS on clothes. My boyfriend gave me a good hug/smell (you gotta love those) and said "Mmm you smell soft and.....goooood....what is that??" Great for the early spring weather when you want to smell girly but still cozy. Finally a new scent to wear!
Lip Gloss -C.O. Bigelow - Mentha Lip Tint No. 1646 Violet Mint
Bowker2 6/25/2012 3:50:00 PM
WOW, I buy piles of lip gloss from VS, Ulta or BBW when they are on sale to give to each of my hair and makeup clients to touch up with. Yesterday I was near BBW so i checked out the sale, bought a handful but wasn't expecting much. All day my lips had been painfully dry and dehydrated, my balms weren't helping so I cracked one of these open since i've heard good things about the Mentha line. Talk about instant relief! At first the mint felt really strong and tingly, but after a few seconds i felt like my lips had been given cooling injections, they felt completely revitalized- fresh and hydrated plus the actual flavor of this is amazing! The color is perfectly light and enhances pinky flesh tones, the shine is smooth and glossy but there is no stickiness. If you have full lips that you like glossy but hate how most feel, or parched lips that balms just coat- try these, i'm stoked to get more! www.jennybowkermakeup.com
I was so excited when this came out, i bought three cans! I am a dry shampoo junkie, i've used Psst, Renee Furterer, Bumble, Batiste (my favorite) and Kevin Murphy- I highly recommend getting any of them over the tresemme one. Which smells bad, gunks up hair, and is mostly alcohol rather than spray powder, which dries out the roots in a bad way. I'm returning them to Ulta asap- too bad since they are only $5 a can as opposed to $10+ for most brands.
Powder -Physicians Formula - Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation

After reading the reviews i toddled over to ulta and did some detective work. Looking at all the colors in the pan, i chose the third darkest (creamy beige) even though i am about an NW20, it looked SO pale in the pan! I brought it home and popped it on, as soon as it hit my face it turned about three shades darker and i had an instant tan! Not what i wanted, but the coverage and finish were great. So the next day back it went and i got the first two colors, transluscent light and transluscent medium ( light for now and medium for summer or when i fake tan) They also both look scary light in the pan but morph into appropriate shades when they hit your skin. I would say T. Light is about NW15-20 and T. Medium is NC20-25, Creamy beige is about an NC 27-30. I applied the light this morning with the included hot pink sponge (cute) and got a flawless, full coverage finish that hasn't budged- it is now 5 hours later. I love that it has a high spf, the packaging is freakin adorable and i trust PF to be pretty high quality. If you want to see a video of me using it go to youtube and look up videos from JennyBowkerMakeup, The video is called- Effortlessly Sexy fast. This would be fabulous on oily, fair skins. If it looks dry or cakey, a spritz of fix+ or any moisturizing toner gives a velvet finish. Edit: Been using on and off for a couple weeks and no breakouts- love it!
I love it! Polishes out yellow and brass tones from my light beigey champagne blond hair. I use it with b&b super rich conditioner and then moroccan oil, shiny bouncy un yellow waves! Took one lippie off for god awful smell, but it doesn't linger- so i deal.
I had the same experience as the reviewer below me, underwhelmed. I have deauville, and it is very yellow toned as opposed to the neutral it claims to be. Applied with a foundation brush it looks quite matte actually- no glow in sight, until later when it starts to fade in places and look oily on my normal to dry skin. I was hoping for a smooth luminous finish like others had described. No sale.
Lipstick -BeneFit Cosmetics - Silky-Finish Lipstick in Ms. Behavin
Bowker2 11/22/2009 3:37:00 PM
Yes, I bought this because it is the color used on the Twilight sets for the vampires lips. Most notably- Edward. But besides this fun little fact that allows us girls to play vampire whenever we please, the color is gorgeous, whether you are a twihard or not. It is one of the silky finish lipsticks housed in a slim black case. It goes on a sheer blood-berry but is easily built up to a softly glossy wine blackberry with some bloody tones as well. Obviously it looks FANTASTIC with very pale skin, softly flushed cheeks and black lashes.... you know, like a vampire! I believe this shade is the reincarnation of the old benefit lipstick 'misbehavin' with a slightly cuter name and different formula, i'm not sure about the color. I've added a picture with ms. behavin blotted down to a stain- doing my best Rosalie impression :) Also, for anyone wondering- 'good to go' lipstick from the same line is the color used for Bella Swan's character.
Love the roll on vitamin e oil by natures gate- i have full lips, but we all want them fuller right? I don't like lip plumpers because the plump will go away at some point, and they just make me feel.... cheesy? Cheap? So i was trying to figure out how to pump them up from the inside out. Other than gaining a bunch of weight- vitamin e oil is the answer! Each night after cleansing i roll a hearty coat of E oil over my lips, it sinks in completely in about 20 minutes, and when i wake up my lips are SO hydrated that they are incredibly plump and full- plus they are never dry and when i top them with lip balm or gloss they look positively huge. I use it throughout the day as well, and as an undereye treatment at night. No more fine lines and no sticky fingers thanks to the rollerball. I recommend E oil to all of my clients, especially brides!
Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lypsyl - Regular Lip Balm
Bowker2 10/28/2009 1:56:00 PM
Best lip balm i've eer used! You know the drill- burts (loyal for what...10 years?) carmex, softlips, nanaks, weleda, dr. haushka, lip trip etc. This top them all, larger than usual, cute little bee that you push to advance the balm, smooth and moisturizing without an overpowering scent but with a hint of mint. Purse, bedside, car. About $2. Love!!!
I picked this up on a whim when it was on sale for like $3 at Ulta, used it a couple of times but it was winter and a few shades too dark. I recently dug it out of my kit when i ran out of my favorite foundation for when i'm tan. (i'm about an nw 30 in summer) Surprise! A perfect match! I wasn't expecting much in quality but when i applied it i got great coverage for a TM, smooth application with my fingers and a soft dewy glow that i love. I popped on some concealer and bronzer and went about me day, once again not expecting much in terms of staying power and not looking greasy. (I'm a Capricorn what can i say! Skeptic!) A few hours later i glanced in the mirror and my skin looked....perfect. Almost weirdly perfect! Smooth, dewy, sun kissed. I'm so sad that my tan is quickly fading and this only comes in one color, i'll use it when i self tan, and for vacations. Snatch it if you can find it!
Tinted Moisturizer -Kiehls - tinted moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
Bowker2 5/19/2009 2:55:00 AM
Great tinted moisturizer! Light texture with light-medium coverage that blends beautifully and looks natural while supremely evening out redness and darkness. Generous samples are available at all stores- try them! I use the light in fall/winter light and medium mixed in the spring and medium in the summer. (im very cool toned and a nw20 in the winter, nw27 in summer) A little goes a long way, a dime size for the whole face. My favorite way to apply it is actually with my fingers because the product is so thin that a brush sucks up too much. This with a creme or gel blush, mascara and some bronzer are all i need in the summer to feel finished for day.
Conditioner -Bumble & Bumble - Super Rich Conditioner
Bowker2 5/19/2009 2:43:00 AM
Love super rich, with every conditioner i've had in the past i have to use a giant handful of product to coat my long thick hair, but with this one i barely need a teaspoon! I'm a more is more girl, but i was so pleased that i could save a little skrilla this way. Smells good, not my favorite but nice- kind of a floral creamy scent. I pump once into my hand, coat both palms and work into the ends of my hair after using the creme de coco poo. I add a little water and another half pump or so to the rest of my hair and comb through. 10 minutes and a rinse later my hair is detangled, smooth and dries shiny and soft wether with a blow dryer or by air. This combo also brings out the curl in my wavy blonde hair, weird! I have the liter and i love the sturdy pump + cute packaging we all love bumble for.
Good shampoo, moisturizes, adds shine and cleans my long blond processed hair really thoroughly unlike some moisturizing poos. Smells like coconut candy and a little goes a long way. I use a quarter sized dollop for the top half of my hair, rinse and use another for the rest of the length. I follow with the super rich conditioner and my hair is smooth and shiny. I got the litre which has helped save space in my shower and i love love love products with pumps, so easy!
Lotions/ Creams -Alba Botanica - very emollient body lotion - daily shade formula
Bowker2 5/18/2009 8:53:00 PM
HG body lotion for sure, thick and creamy lotion absorbs completely and leaves smooth super hydrated skin, spf 16, AND the BEST scent i've ever come across in a lotion. I wish there was a perfume that smelled like this, a light almond vanilla milk with a hint of summery sunscreen, i have to tear myself away from it at nighttime! I tracked down the giant pump bottle (thank you alba for always using pumps!!!) and use this everyday on my arms, chest and shoulders. Never have i wanted to use a lotion everyday until this one came along. This plus the dry skin max formula with AHAs has turned around my dull dry skin. Thank you alba!
Lotions/ Creams -Alba Botanica - Max Dry Skin Formula w/ AHA & Antioxidents
Bowker2 5/18/2009 8:47:00 PM
This at night and the daily shade formula in the day have made my rough, dry skin soft and smooth. The KP on my arms is 90% gone (!!!!!!!) and my skin feels plump and hydrated to the touch. I have been searching high and low for the perfect lotion and this is fantastic. I don't mind the light jasmine smell, and it fades quickly although i wish it was the same scent as daily shade, which i LOVE. The texture of the lotion is pretty light and very easy to spread, so at first i didn't think i was going to be adequately moisturized. Wrong! My skin drinks this in and i especially love the AHA's to exfoliate, since my skin makes more skin like its getting paid. Also smoothed out my rough winter feet in time for summer. :D
