I'm a believer!!! I think I paid around $4 for a 6 oz bottle at Rite Aid and it will last me to the next millennium. You can easily find it in the first aid section near where they keep the hydrocortisones and hard core lotions/creams for psoriasis, etc. I have yet to try this on myself, because I have all sorts of expensive lotions and potions to go through first. I bought this for my 2 boys (5 & 2) that have suffered from dry skin and atopic dermatitis since birth. We've gone through it all, from Aveeno to Cetaphil to Mustela to Rx and nothing really helped. Their skin was still dry. The Rx would bring the redness down, but that's about it.

I recently bought LRP Lipikar Baume (body) & Nutritic Cream (face) and was using it by itself. It keeping everything under control, but not really healing anything. So, while walking the aisles at Rite Aid I just stumbled upon this little magical bottle that said "Skin Protectant GLYCERIN USP" and picked it up. I figured at that price, I might as well give it a shot. I've been adding a drop or 2 to the Baume for the body lotion and 1 drop to the face cream and my boys now have moist, healthy looking skin. They absolutely glow. I can't say how impressed and how happy I am for them and for me! The search is over, the dropping of $$$$$ is over. I can't even begin to calculate the hundreds of dollars I've spent trying to find something that would work.

My little one used to itch so bad that he would get little scabs where his ears attached to his face and those healed up within 2 days... I'd been trying to get rid of them for 2 months!

I've also used it straight on, but it is much easier to spread if you mix it with something else.

Seriously, seeing is believing. I would recommend this to anyone who suffers with very dry skin. I've always been oily so I had no idea how rough it could be for people with dry skin until I had my kiddos.

Update: I added a drop of this to a standard eye cream last night and this morning and WOWEE what a difference. It must be love!

Absolute HG. My God, I can't believe how long it has taken for me to discover this. You know those rough patches on the elbows and knees? History. Dryness mid-winter, flaky skin...history. I jus mix some glycerin with some rosewater, no idea how much. Just whatever i can put on my palm. A little of this and a little of that, mix it well and apply it everywhere twice a day. I apply it on my face only in the night tho, thrice a week. It really makes a difference. Shows, immediately. You're left with soft, supple skin everywhere and it even feels warm and nice in the cold winter nights. Love it.

Glycerin + water is the best thing i've ever used to moisturise my skin.

My skin is an odd mix - oily t-zone, lots of blackheads on my nose, congestion deep under my skin everywhere (fine, skin coloured bumps), and lots and lots of flakes. It has been difficult to treat my skin, as anything too rich will treat my flakes but cause my skin to break out, and anything too light leaves my skin tight and even flakier.

I do exfoliate regularly and I do use a gentle cleanser, so it wasnt as though I was overcleansing or not getting rid of those flakes. I needed a moisturiser that would quench my dehydrated skin but be as less irritating as possible, to avoid pimples. And a 10% glycerin blend has done just that

I use 1 part glycerin to 9 parts water, as I find anything over 10% becomes too sticky and uncomfortable to wear. The 10% hydrates very well but is still light on my skin. I used to make up a very small amount weekly, usually around 10ml, as the blend would go off due to lack of preservatives. Now, I use a drop or two of Optiphen, and it allows me to mix up larger 1oz bottles

The blend is very simple and lacks any fillers & irritating ingredients, so there is nothing in there to break my skin out. I have been using this moisturiser for 3 months now and have still experienced no breakouts

The most amazing thing about glycerin + water is how it makes my skin completely flake-free. And if I ever have flakes (usually just a few here and there now), they peel off easily because my skin is so well moisturised

I really cant rave about this enough and it is cheap, not to mention easy to make. I'll add a bit of seamollient, sea kelp bioferment or aloe vera gel to thicken up the blend sometimes (if you use any of these, factor them into your 9 parts water) as the mixture itself is just like rubbing water on your face

A+++

I have found my HG moisturizing product in glycerin! It is so hydrating and yet not oily, very cheap and easy to find as well.
Leaves my skin so glowy, smooth and plump. It has a moist finish, which if you have dry skin or the weather is cold is a god-send.
I would really recommend it. I mix 2 parts rosewater with 1 part glycerin.

UPDATE: Recently I had a bad reaction to ACV toner and had very dry, flaky skin as a result. Nothing was working for me, my whole face was literally shedding every few days! I remembered that when I used glycerin my face was always soft and moist and after only a few uses my face is nearly back to normal. I've been applying a few drops onto a damp cotton pad and wiping it as you would a toner and then following up with my regular lotion. (I also used it neat on very dry spots). I've been doing this x2 a day with very good results and I'll continue using it.

So after all the glowing reviews on the skincare boards I bought a bottle of glycerin from my local health food store for $4.99. After about a week my skin is GLOWING! I can't believe how plump and supple it feels every morning when I wake up. I add a couple drops to my regular moisturizer or a few drops of water. My sister just came home for thanksgiving and she used it and noticed an immediate difference in her skin as well. Now I feel like I dont need to switch to a winter moisturizer because this does the trick. I am sold.

I used glycerin on my skin last night. (why does it feel warm?) And today i woke up to glowy, plump skin. :) I believe it's the main component of most moisturizers.

I have to second the tip about first glycerin mixed with water, then EVOO -- the perfect moisturizing and softening mix. Great for the entire body, noncomedogenic, love it. Just remember to drink lots of water, because glycerin works by drawing water out of the skin to the surface.

Pure glycerin is a wonderful moisturising agent regardless of your skin type. Add a few drops to a homemade toner to rehydrate skin without stickyness. Add a few drops to a body lotion for extra moisture, or mix it with aloe vera gel for a light moisturiser perfect for oily skin or skin thats had too much sun. If you have skin that is sensitive for any reason, try skipping your normal evening moisturiser and use either glycerin mixed with plain water followed by a small amount of olive oil to lock in the moisture. The fewer ingredients the less likelihood of irritation. Perfect if you've been overdoing it with acids, retin-a or exfoliating too much.

If you have dry and sensitive skin I REALLY recommend you to try glycerin. At night, before going to bed, take 1-2 drops of glycerin in your palm, mix it with moisturizer/serum of your choice and apply.
The next day you will wake up with hydrated, glowy, smooth skin. It's a skin-saver for those cold rough winters!

I have oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin and this is a wonderful, simple moisturizer that doesn't break me out or irritate me and can be found in every drugstore. After using a tiny dab of this every night all over my face (it's a bit sticky and can take some time to dry), I end up with wonderfully hydrated skin that is absolutely glowing. Even my SO commented on it, and he doesn't notice much usually when I change elements of my skincare regimen (even after I dealt with the worst of the acne issues). It seems to be helping me to tolerate my retinoid treatment better as well. And it's CHEAP! The small (100 mL) bottle will last me several months and only cost me just over $1 Cdn. I don't have that many HGs (and am still searching for a HG sunscreen), but this is definitely HG.
