I was looking for an inexpensive finishing powder and thought I'd try Cover Girl. My first problem was selecting the right shade as there is definitely not enough of a selection. I also did not like the scent of the powder. Thirdly, I did not care for the puff applier that it came with. Instead I found that using a brush over it worked better, but I still did not like the way the powder looked on my face. I will not be buying this type of powder compact again.

I truly hate Covergirl Clean pressed powder. First of all is the scent- I cannot bear that noxema-ish smell. I know Covergirl has an unscented version but th quality is still the same. Even my shade (which would be classic ivory) does not look natural- it leaves me with a made up look. Also it does not control oil as well as the Fresh Look. I also feel like this powder is heavy and with oily skin can cake with touch ups- I'll stick to Fresh look!

1. Colour - I consistently purchase Simply Powder; however, the colour I use, Classic Ivory, is significantly lighter in the Clean line. I have Asian skin and the powder is neutral/yellow enought for me, althought much too pale. Did not turn orange.
2. Texture - this had a slightly crumbly, dry texture compared to Simply Powder which had a creamier texture. This meant that my face had an overall more powderly look at first but faded during the day. It also does not absorb oil well.
Overall, will stick with Simply Powder and will not repurchase Clean.

This was the first powder i used and i was quite happy with it until i tried other brands. I loves the cute green compact, but the included puff didn't work at all. Apply with large brush instead. It crumbles easily and the entire thing broke into pieces when i dropped it. Perhaps you'll lvoe it if your less clumsy than i am.

I've been using this powder since my high school yrs...the color i have is "soft honey"...looks darker in the compact than on the face......it has a noticeable perfume smell..It's inexpensive and it helped me control the oilies & good for touch ups but it doesnt blend as easily as i would like against my skin...will try the CG smoothers powder next to see which ones better

I found that using this product alone on my oily acne-prone skin, did not provide the best coverage. But, when put over regular foundation, it gave my skin a flawless look. This kept oil away did not accentuate dry spots, and did a fairly good job at hiding blamishes. I really like this product, accept for the fact that covergirl does not offer many shades. When I had this on, it looked good in my bathroom, but out in daylight, I could see major foundation lines :( The packaging was soso, not overly cute but it looked alright. I also noticed that the product had a smell that I did not particularily like (although I think you can buy it in unscented). It was fairly inexpensive, and if you can find it on sale it is a real bargain. If you can find a shade that fits your coloring it is definately worth trying!

I have normal to slightly dry and sensitive skin and remarkably, this powder doesn't flake my skin and it controls the occasion shine too. the shade selection is great too. The colour I have, buff beige, is too dark for me and often darkens my foundation a lot but a lighter colour will fix the problem. The only problem is that it can look cakey sometimes.

Cover Girl was the first pressed powder I tried, but no matter what, I can't get anything to match my skin tone - they don't make "Clean" powders in the right tones for Asian skin. The closest one I found was much too pink/white for my complexion, so I used a little bit.
In general, when it first goes on, it's a bit cakey, really highlights the flaky spots in your face. It's powdery, and it doesn't blend well - maybe because it's too light for my skin! (GRR!)
I have a very oily T-Zone, topped off with my body sweating at a drop of a hat in even the slightest humidity. This powder did -not- last that long to keep my makeup matte or even cover! I had to keep reapplying every hour.
NOT recommended. Instead, I tried L'Oreal Feel Naturale Ultrafine Light Softening Powder. Not only does it have SPF15 it better fits my skin tone!

Not glamourous, but it does the job. I have an ancient one in a brown compact I keep beating around in my car for emergencies. Has not fallen apart though the gold letters are worn. The powder has not cracked either, but it can, based upon past experience, when you have just a little left. But still, there are many products I have paid more for and could fret about much more than this. I would would never trust a $30-40 compact in my car to withstand the extreme temps and humidity fluctuations. I guess this is the makeup equivilant of Timex. Takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!

Packaging: I like the compact but I hate the puff. It's terrible at applying makeup because it soaks up powder like a sponge and yet none of the powder comes onto my face. Also, when I washed it, it never dried so I threw it out and got a new puff.
Product: I have mostly normal to dry skin with an oily tzone. I'm forever looking for a powder to control my oily nose, which soaks through my loose powder in less than an hour.
The original powder smells quite bad and its strong too. There's a fragrance free version but i haven't tried it.
The worst part about this powder, and what really makes me not want to repurchase, is that it breaks me out on my nose and clogs the pores on my face.
Skip this powder even if you're short on cash. I'd never purchase this again.

I've used this powder since I was a teenager and this was actually my first ever cosmetic item that I owned! This powder is great! It's nice, sucks up the oilies and doesn't break me out. This looks better over a liquid foundation rather than alone since it has the tendency to look cakey. For the price this is awesome. Good color matches too.

i absolutely LOVE this powder. (i have the green compact, in the Ivory shade)its unscented, and provides enough coverage to nicely complement my tinted moisturizer. which just so happens to be CG smoothers. those 2 products always give me a flawless finish. i also appreciate that this is unscented. compared to CG freshlook pressed powder, this provides slightly more coverage and has more pink in it. not noticeable amounts but enough to match me perfectly (cool toned,PPP) and i will definetly be repurchasing this

I just purchased this and will need to exchange it for the fragrance free version or the green or silver compact. The Noxema smell is just too strong and even after 5 minutes ...I can still smell it in the air. Yuck ..but I adore CoverGirl ever since high school so I will get the frangrance free version
**EDIT** Store didnt have fragrance free in my color so i got the SMoothers compact in dark blue and the smell is heaven ..must be the chamoille inside for softening effects. Will give it a shot!

I've been using this stuff since I was a teenager. It sets my foundation well, doesn't turn orange and smells clean. The only other powder I like is really, really expensive (Prescriptives Magic) so I usually just use this one. I like to use a big powder brush instead of the cheap little puff (which always falls apart). I always seem to break the compact about halfway through the product, but maybe that's just me. Anyway, it's cheap enough that I can just go get a new one.

Ah, Cover Girl Clean Powder... a staple of my youth. This is all I used from age 13-16. To this day I'll always have a few of the little brown compacts somewhere in my house. This is a pretty nice powder for less than $4, very smooth & silky, and it absolutely does NOT cake up or turn color. I've had $25 powder that caked & turned orange, but this never has. It may be offensive to some, but I love the Noxzema smell, in fact that's what got me using it to begin with. It smells so fresh & the smell actually wakes me up, if you can believe that. Great for early mornings in high school! I ususally use Buff Beige. It's a little light but the darker colors that came after Buff Beige were too orange or pink. The rest of the colors are either WAY too pale, or too dark(great colors for black women though). I found a better color match in the Fresh Look line, but I gotta have that mentholy smell so I stick with Clean. It brings back so many great memories from high school.

I have combo/dry, MAC NC25/30 skin. I was able to find a good color match with Buff Beige, and it went on nicely, but it dried out my skin and left me with flakies. I will not repurchase. I will continue using Almay Skin Stays Clean in Light 03.

i dont know if its the same thing, but i have a green compact, marbelized green color, and i am creamy natural. though i recently tried classicivory or some thing like that and it works too. i really like the aqua smooth one, but it crumbled up. thats the only thing that i hate is that they just crumble up sooo fast. i carry it in my purse and it just in like at little less than a mont h it crumbles up!! i dont think it has a smell, but i have alwayz used this, because its trusty and dependable, and they have a big variety of shades and they never feel very thick or any thing, and if i do put my powder on a bit too heavy i just rub it around, and it fixes right up.

I am a sworn enemy of Cover Girl. I have purchased concealor, eye liner, lipstick, and foundation from them in the past and hated it; I find their products to smell weird and to be substandard (I do, however, own a few likeable eye shadows). Since I know many people who use the 'Clean' pressed powder, I decided to give this a try (my decision was made easier by a CVS sale). I chose the mint green compact (Clinique knock- off?) because it is unscented. I must say, I like this product. 'Classic Ivory' is a good, slightly yellow match for me. The product has a powdery finish (enough coverage to even the complexion) and covers oil well. The compact is sturdy, although the included puff is kind of cheap. A pleasant surprise!

This was one of my first makeup purchases and is still a favorite of mine. What I liek about this is that it is sheer and lightweight with just enough coverage to even out my skintone and remove shine without making my skin look chalky.

I only bought this because my sister had a navy blue compact in a translucent color that looked good on the skin and smelled nice. However, I couldn't find the right one so I ended up buying the brown compact--and I wish I hadn't! I HATE THE SMELL of this powder!!!!! I have to hold my breath when I use it (which is only when I need really light powder coverage, otherwise I use Lancome). Will not buy again.
